This past week I met with an old client. He started out by saying that he thinks that his boss is trying to kill him. He is the first one in and last one out. He goes above and beyond in all aspects of his job. The more he works the less his boss works and the more his boss stresses him out. Are you killing your employees?

I was talking to a business owner last week and I asked him what does he do for the last quarter. He said that he treats the fourth as if it were the first. His programs don't decrease or wind down.

Is your boss trying to kill you?

Pt 1

This is the story of a hard working business woman. She doesn't just work hard. She's in early and stays late. She's an over achiever.

Knowing all of this, her bosses give her more work, assign her more tasks. Then they give her mandatory over time and mandatory weekends. She basically becomes a supervisor without the pay. She gets calls and texts at all hours. Then, one day she has a break down at work. She takes a few days off. The following weeks they pour even more on her plate. She asks for a raise. Her bosses put off responding then they politely refuse but offer her promotion. Mind you that she is already making less than many of her counter parts. Given the quality of her work, duties, ethic, etc is she being miss managed? Should she get a raise? Should she take the promotion ? Are her bosses trying to kill her?

Answer: All options are determined by the numbers. In the end, greatness is determined and or defined by the numbers. Which means that sometimes good isn't really good. Sometimes it means that good is great. But before anything is determined, the homework must be done.

Welcome back! I have a group of friends that are doing the extreme challenge with their own twist on it. They are calling it a martial arts triathlon. They are training in three martial arts for three hours. Three hours a day for three to five days a week. They are training in boxing, kickboxing, MMA , karate, BJJ,& wrestling. I was talking to a business owner the other day. It was a great talk that ended abruptly. He told me about his continuing education, upgrading his personal tech, designing new business cards, and a few more things. Then I asked him why he was doing all of those things. In short, he did all of that so he could make more money. So I just asked if he was doing the same things for his business and why not. Think about it.
