Music has always been strong at the small school , but what was lovely was seeing so many ex pupils still coming back to play, like one large family. I must say our teaching department is an inspiration. Thanks Paul and everyone for a great evening.

Craft Fair on Sunday

Please come this Sunday 10-3, kids activities all money goes to charity, icing ginger bread men with Gesine, guess the weight of the cake, cafe is open for local produce and the warm smile of the crew. Get your Christmas presents and have a fun day. At the Parish hall .

We had a lovely family from Spain this week try out the Small School, inspired by talks from Satish in Spain. They sat on a coach from Gatwick for 8 hours, I'm sorry Hartland is so far, but pleased you will be back in March.

Broomhill Sculpture park

Love the Carol Pearce. It was wet under foot and would be great to come back and sketch for the day, as we felt we missed a lot . The children were great and we need to open our minds and keep talking about ideas.

School trip November

Trip to see the new work from artist Damon Hirst, we visited a few local attractions including a talk about our local sea world from here to Lundy, the fishing and quota problems. Sustainability seems to be the answer. Plus a trip to Broomhill sculpture park. A good thank you

Appledore Festival

The Small School was invited to be involued in the Arts festival at Appledore, Bideford. We had a great position next to PETROC, and it was great to get all the feedback. Thank you Gesine (Graphics designer), Wendy (Arts Lecturer), Mary Wills (local Artist), Karina (Fashion Designer), Sarah (organic gardener). Not just Mums but very talented parents who care..

Our Christmas lunch, cooked by parents and pupils, and shared by teachers, Trustees, and parents and pupils both past and present.

After a huge meal and far too much pudding, the lower school treated us to their own adaptation of 'A Christmas Carol'. The perfect way to finish the term.

The Small School doesn't get any money from the Government, and unlike private schools we try to make it inclusive as possible and have never turned anyone down due to finance, so we organise events though the year which includes the Yarner Trust, Dance Camp, Farmers Market and the Craft Fair. Please come and see the children at work.. In the future we are looking to turn this into a business as a working model.. These are the free words of a business owner and parent who has been inspired .

Plymouth Uni Science Expo

For the first week of school we had a visit to Plymouth for the Science Uni Expo, it was a lovely crisp windy day for the American Cup and Expo. The Uni always puts on a great science show to show school children the different areas involued in science, from Marine, to robots. Of course we also had to climb the lighthouse, it was a great day out and a great chance to meet the new students.

Yarner Trust

The Small School has always believed that food and cooking is import for the children to understand. We very much like what the Yarner Trust does down in Welcombe regarding the way they work and there vision in sustainability http://yarnertrust.org/ and we are asked to do the catering for the Yarner summer camp, this includes a 2 course lunch and dinner for 70 people, plus break times, we do this as a great way to promote our children, earn money for our charity and how they can work as a team and run an outside catering company, now the parents are also involued in the cooking this is true and hard work it is l can promise you. All of our produce was from our gardens, parents farm's slow grown Pork and local sources, Holsworthy Organics who we visited earlier in the year, if not it was from Essentials Organics, for example tomatoes as the sun wasn't strong enough in our greenhouse.. Hand made bread cakes etc.. But one question why are organic carrots so dirty as it took the children hours to scrub them as quality control was very tight.. Thank you everyone... And thank you Yarner Trust and people for a lovely week... See you next year we hope...

End of Year School trip...

A camping trip down to Truro lead by Maya, Lu, Wendy and crew.. Maybe need a big car next time.. Everyone had a great time alot of fun, a bit rain to say the least and many visits including Barbara Hepworth's Garden, The Tate and the outdoor Theatre. Thank you everyone..

Trip to Plymouth College of Art Fashion Show:
Two of the parents from the Small School have been teaching at Plymouth and invited the student who are interested in the Arts to front row seats (almost) To see what will be expected from them if they move in this direction... l think everyone enjoyed the show which was great for the amount of they have to understand, design, research, fabrics, trends, colours and making... Well Done...
