I totally admit that I'm drawn to color like a butterfly to flowers. While many of my favorite outfits are in the neutral range or classic black and white, I accessorize with many different splashes of color. You may see me wearing deep purple shoes, a fun torquoise bracelet, a bright yellow statement necklace, or even cute metallic blue nail polish. There's got to be a little bit of color to every outfit to make it fun.

Because I have such a light complexion, I sometimes have problems with powders. Either I end up looking like my face is red or I end up looking like frosty the snowman. It's hard to have a healthy glow when your skin is so pale. Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Power somehow managed to give me a healthy glow without making me look pink.

I applied the powder with a brush which allowed me to have more control over the application than if I used a make up wedge. A light brush all over with the baked power helped even my skin tone while still giving me a natural glow that was perfectly suited to my complexion. I used the "highlight-01" color which is the color above on the far right. The mirror in the compact allows for easy on the go touchups. This is definitely my powder of choice from this point forward.

The warm weather has finally arrived here in Vermont and I have started seeing people enjoying the sun at the lake. It's still a bit too cool for me to venture into the water but I know I'll be there soon. Learning how to protect your skin at the beach is very important. You don't want to come home with a nasty burn.

How To Protect Your Skin At The Beach

Always wear sunscreen that is at least an SPF 15. I go much higher than that because I have very light skin.
If you are going into the water, make sure it is waterproof.
Make sure you reapply it regularly. You cannot just put it on once and forget about it.
Drink plenty of water to make sure that your skin stays hydrated.
If you'll be spending time on the beach instead of in the water, consider bringing along a beach umbrella or even a big floppy hat for some extra protection.
Don't forget to protect your lips. They can become burned or chapped from exposure to the sun.

I don't always follow nail polish trends but when one of the nail polish trends is pastels, how can I resist? 1. What are the top three changes you recommend making to your skin care routine for spring?

Exfoliate, exfoliate and exfoliate. You need to shed winter layers so your skin can be lighter, more hydrated and glowing. Avoid scrubs and opt for chemcical exfoliants like Kinara's Red Carpet Facial Kit (for all skin types) or something like MD Gross for Acnaic skin

2. Are there any spring skin care ‘secrets’ you recommend?

Right now, the key is adding more serums to your regime and reducing moisturizers. Serums are formulated without emulsifiers so they are lighter on the skin and more reparative than moisturizers. Of course if you are dry you will still need a moisturizer on top, but I recommend a lighter one.

3. What are your must-have spring skin care products and why? What are the key ingredients?

For us here at Kinara, definitely Weightless Infusion and Weightless Moisturizer. Weightless Infusion is basically oil free food for skin. Formulated with cutting edge cosmeceuticals like di-peptide 4 and alpha arbutin, it is designed to quickly nourish, tighten, and brighten your skin. Weightless Moisturizer is a super light emulsion. Designed to have a great anti-aging impact while forgoing heavy oils that can clog your skin. One of its main ingredients is teprenone. Check the dates. Anything that is expired or that you have had for more than six months, especially sun block, should go.
