I was in the dark apparently, i didn’t know David Duchovny had it in him. After his familar paranormal conspiracy theorist Agent Moulder character from the x-files Duchovny has struck gold in his new series “Californication”.

Ok, so its not so new but my roomate just bought the first season DVD of Californication and I’ve been watching it the last two nights. It is incredibly witty, hillarious and sometimes downright wrong!  It’s not only the parade of lovely naked chicks that Duchovny’s character Hank Moody gets in the sack, it really is a smart and dynamic series.

David Duchovny plays self loathing, alcoholic  novelist Hank Moody who can’t getover his ex palyed by NATASCHA McELHONE. He is a rich bastard from his latest novel being given the hollywood treatment, which he obviously is disgustd with.  He has a 12 yr old Daughter whch really adds s much needed humanity to Hank Moody. The ridiculousness of his escapades will keep you lol’ing long after you’ve watched the episode. Lik when he discovers a casual hook-up he met at the bookstore is actually the 16 yr old daughter of his ex-wifes new boyfriend. That plot-line leads to a whole lot of on-going trouble for Moody!

If your a fan of witty dirty humor and hollywood shows like  HBO’s Entourage you must buy the DVD and catch up on the first season before season 2 premiers.

ok lets not get too deep this is not a blog about the meaning of life or the existance of higher powers.  We’re here because of a single unifying force that grips our world like no other entity could………..music.

So here i am about to add my own ramblings on this ever emersive subject. Will i stand out from the crowd of millions? Will i draw you in day after day with my insight and prose, who knows….. probably not. If your like me your just looking for someone who may throw some good tunes your way and thats what i intend to do here.

As a singer/songwriter myself i have a great appreciation for talented wordsmiths.  Melody gets you noticed but its lyrics that keep people coming back for more.  Here are a few of the artists you may or may not know that are currently playing in heavy rotation on my ipod, these artists are masters of both melody and compelling story telling lyrics.

Will Dailey – Boston based singer/songwriter recently signed to CBS records. rec’d song: “Rise”

Andy Davis – A pianist and guitar playing songwriter from Nashville. rec’d song: “Brown Eyes”

Joshua Radin – got his break via my favorite tv show SCRUBS. rec’d song: “winter”

Chad Perrone – another Boston fav, powerful voice great songs, formerly of the band Averi. rec’d song: “Madison”

Colin Hay – formerly of Men at Work, and another SCRUBS soundtrack alumni. rec’d track: “Overkill”

Thats just a small handful of singer/songwriters im into at the moment. All have kind of a folk-rock, rootsier vibe, i guess thats my mood right now. In future blogs ill go into more detail about each one of  these artists and more that i haven’t mentioned.
