Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Most Anticipated Video Game of the Year!!!

Listen up all you video game fans! The most anticipated fighting game of the year is finally within reach. As most serious gamers know, it has been 10 years since the release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (an extremely long period of time indeed). The time has finally come for the third installment of the series to be released. This epic crossover battle video game will be released tonight at midnight (February 15, 2011).

I discovered that there would be a third installment in the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise back in July 2010. I can honestly say that I've been overly excited since then. As a result of being a HUGE fan of the previous titles, the release of the third installment is pretty much a big deal to me...

Lady Gaga's Arrival at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards!!

As you all know, the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards makes its premiere this evening. I always enjoy watching the biggest of stars walk the red carpet. One star that definitely caught my attention was the eccentric Lady Gaga... Get this, she arrived to the Grammys in a translucent egg.. If you think about it, this was pretty genius. The gesture is paying homage to her new single "Born This Way" and her album of the same title.

Just in case you didn't know, "Born This Way" was released on February 11, 2011 and became the fastest selling iTunes single EVER! In only five hours, it became number 1 in 21 of the 23 countries it was released in. That's amazing! I'm a HUGE fan of Lady Gaga because she isn't afraid to journey outside-the-box. She's very different. And I love different. Congratulations Lady Gaga..

Female Rap Superstar Nicki Minaj Makes an Appearance on "Saturday Night Live"

I'm pretty sure most of you knew that I was going to dedicate yet another blog post to my girl Nicki Minaj... She made a guest appearance on "Saturday Night Live" which aired just a few moments ago. Like most of the musical guests on the show, she participated in a couple of the skits and performed two songs from her album "Pink Friday."

Prior to the the show, Nicki sat down with MTV News and expressed how she felt about the opportunity: "Being a part of 'Saturday Night Live' feels absolutely incredible. I still don't even believe it's true. I'm not going to believe it's really happening until--well, I'm going to DVR it. I can't watch it, because I'll be on it. But until I see it back on DVR, I'm not even going to believe I was really on the show. This is epic, this is monumental, this is historic stuff." To be honest, I could feel her excitement through my 42-inch plasma screen...

Rocking a huge and overly extravagant yet beautifully made dress (for some reason I was reminded of cotton candy!), Nicki performed her hit "Right Thru Me." Check out the video below:

Although I've said it time and time again, I would like to say it again: I'm a HUGE fan of Nicki Minaj. I consider myself to be one of her biggest fans/supporters. She burst into the industry like a freight train and I truly admire that.

The interview opened with the following quote by Ellen DeGeneres: "Rolling Stone magazine named our next guest the new Queen of Hip-Hop. Her debut album "Pink Friday" sold more copies in it's first week than any other female artist in over ten years. Please welcome the very talented, Nicki Minaj." Awesome introduction Ellen...

The Harajuku Barbie came out in a black form-fitting above-the-knee dress and a pair of SICKENING pumps! As I've said before, her stylist is the bomb.

Ellen started the interview by admiring Nicki's pumps, inquiring about Lil Wayne discovering her and mentioning the awesome success "Pink Friday" has accumulated (it has officially shipped one million units). Congratulations Nicki!!

Ellen then proceeded to asking Nicki about how she started rapping. She also asked her to talk a little bit about her family background as well as a few of her alter egos (Roman, Martha and Barbie). Check out the interview and Nicki's performance of "Moment 4 Life" below...

Kanye West - Monster featuring Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj & Bon Iver (Music Video)

We all have been waiting for it... Even though it's only a rough edit, it's finally here.. I'm sure most of us (if not all) will agree that "Monster" was definitely one of the hottest tracks of 2010. It's hot because some of the most talented rappers in the game (Kanye West, Rick Ross, Jay-Z and my girl Nicki Minaj) as well as Bon Iver were a part of it.

Before discussing the song, I wanted to mention the praise that Rick Ross gave Nicki Minaj. Referring to Nicki writing her own verse for the track, he said: "That was the day Nicki Minaj earned my respect as a lyricist. Before that day she was a great entertainer, but for me to get in the studio with my own two eyes and see her write her verse, I knew that was going to be one of the greatest verses of this year." And it definitely was...

Regarding the song itself, I feel that each artist contributed something special. Bon Iver frames and introduces the song as a mysterious Thriller-like horror setting, Kanye West provides the hook that actually "hooks" listeners, Rick Ross brings the intimidation that hip-hop can provoke, Jay-Z compares himself to some of the legendary creatures of the world and the lovely Nicki Minaj brought an impeccable vocal delivery as well as her genius of instantaneously changing personas... (Between lines!!)

I really enjoyed the video. The moment a friend of mine played the track for me, I instantly responded by saying: "I can't wait for the video!" From the song itself, I knew the video would have some type of weird, delirious and spooky theme. My prediction has definitely come to pass.. Check out the video below...

Kandi Burruss Releases Her New Album "Kandi Koated"

Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter, entrepreneur and "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star, Kandi Burruss, has released her much-anticipated sophomore album "Kandi Koated." The album is uniquely described as "the musical opus of a single mother looking for love" after coping with the untimely death of her ex-fiance, Ashley "A.J." Jewell. (My condolences Kandi...)

Kandi's sophomore project is what I consider to be a "cohesive album." The entire album (and not just each of its songs) tells a story. "The album is about love. Relationships. It's meeting someone. Falling for them. Falling out with them. Breaking up with them. Thinking about them. Getting back together. Moving on. It's all there" she says about the project which she almost completely wrote (with the exception of "Me and You," written and produced by Ne-Yo, and sampling Outkast's "Elevators").

As you all could probably guess, I've already listened to the album... I've selected "Haven't Loved Right" and "I Just Know" as my favorites. I'm a big fan of emotional and powerful ballads. These two songs are just that.. Now don't get me wrong, I love medium and up-tempo songs as well. I'm just a BIGGER fan of ballads.

I can honestly say that I'm truly proud of Kandi. She's one of those artists that focuses on the "music." Being a musician myself, I love and respect her for the passion she exudes through song. Some artists get so caught up in the nonsense that goes on in the industry and they tend to stray away from the music. Not Kandi...

I'm going to end this blog post by saying: "Congratulations Kandi!!! I wish you much success with the album..." (I sure hope she reads this..)

There is absolutely no need for me to say it but I'm going to say it anyways: "I Love Nicki Minaj!!!" As you all know, I am a HUGE fan of the Harajuku Barbie. Of course I was going to blog about her first late night interview and performance on George Lopez's late night talk show which aired earlier this evening.

To my dismay, I've heard quite a few people express their dislike of Nicki because they feel like she's an actress... When used negatively, the word actor/actress is used to describe one as being "fake." Yes, she is an actress. She participated in the drama program at LaGuardia High School in New York City. She's also a singer and rapper... Get over it!

The interview opened with the following quote by George Lopez: "Crowned as the new Queen of Hip-Hop by Rolling Stone, her debut album "Pink Friday" is tearing up the charts. Please welcome for her first late night interview, Nicki Minaj!" Awesome introduction George...

Miss Minaj came out in a rather unique form-fitting above-the-knee dress, green stockings (leggings? I don't know), a blond/blue/purple/green wig and a pair of SICKENING pumps! Her stylist is truly talented...

George started the interview by asking Nicki Minaj where she came from. Nicki responded by saying she started out as an underground rapper in Queens and was eventually recruited by Lil Wayne. George moved on to talk about Pink Friday's HUGE debut. It secured the second spot on the Billboard 200 chart with 376,000 copies sold during its first week. Congratulations Nicki Minaj!!

Path... A New and Exclusive Social Networking iPhone/iPod Touch Application

After months of hype, rumors and a truckload of speculation, the social networking (or should I say personal networking?) iPhone and iPod Touch application "Path" has finally been launched. The original intention of Path was to provide users a networking application that completely goes against the functions of Twitter. Basically, the creators (Dave Morin, Dustin Mierau and Shawn Fanning) wanted to make a network that's much more "personal" in nature.

From my understanding, Path is an application that allows you to share life with close friends and family. Yes, there are times when we don't want to share our photos with the entire world. Because your personal network is only limited to 50 of your closest friends and family, you can always post at any moment. No matter how personal... Path was created to be a place where you can be yourself. There is no need to worry about being fired from your job because of an inappropriate or unconventional photo... Exclusivity is pretty awesome...

Path allows you to share pictures and three pieces of information to give your friends context: people, places and things. Unlike other social networking tools and websites, Path has completely renounced the social networking norms... You will not find a "Like" button, "Comments" section, or an option to "Share" photos on your other social networks. That makes complete sense...

In my opinion, Path is extremely passive for a social application... You share personal photos and see personal photos shared by other people. That's it... There is no discussion allowed. The creators wanted to create a "personal" application. And they did just that...

What do you guys think of Path? Is the 'stepping outside the box' approach going to bring success? Who knows. The power of exclusivity just may work in Path's favor.

BET's 2010 'Black Girls Rock!' Awards Show Recap

Because I'm a huge fan and supporter of successful Black women, I decided to tune in for the "2010 'Black Girls Rock!' Awards Show" presented by BET (Black Entertainment Television). The event took place at the Paradise Theater in Bronx, New York. It was evident that the atmosphere was an intense one indeed...

Created to highlight and honor the positive achievements of women of color, the show was hosted by the beautiful Nia Long. As she took the stage at the start of the event, Nia Long announced: "The golden rule for this evening is to believe in yourself fearlessly." Her statement, without a doubt, set the remarkable tone of the event from the beginning.

"This historic partnership with BET marks the beginning of an empowerment movement for women of color across the globe because 'Black Girls Rock' all over the world," said Beverly Bond, chief executive officer and executive producer of "Black Girls Rock!" "Our girls are not being told how amazing they really are or how amazing they really can be. It is time that we start telling them. it is time that we start shouting out to the entire world that 'We Black Girls Rock!'"

The awards served to honor not only successful women, but positive role models, that exist both in front of and behind the camera. The 2010 'Black Girls Rock!' awards recipients were as follows:

Actress, singer and producer Raven Symone received the "Young, Gifted and Black" award.
Rapper, singer and producer Missy Elliot received the "Visionary" award.
Actress and singer Keke Palmer was the recipient of the "Who Got Next?" award.
Iconic actress, Ruby Dee, received the "Living Legend" award.
Teresa Clarke, founder of www.Africa.com, received the "Shot Caller" award.

The most unforgettable and emotionally charged performance of the evening was Nina Simone's "Four Women" sang by Kelly Price, Marsha Ambrosius, Jill Scott and Ledisi... Witness the power of the performance for yourself...

I can honestly say that their performance together was one of the most astounding live performances I've ever witnessed. Kelly Price's gospel soul, Marsha Ambrosius' jazzy melodies, Jill Scott's poetry and phrasing, as well as Ledisi's powerhouse and theatrical vocals each were dynamic in their own right. They truly gave me chills as I listened to them sing the story of four different women of color. Each of the four characters represent an African American stereotype in society.

The Video Release of "Right Thru Me" by Nicki Minaj

Most people that know me are aware that I'm a HUGE fan of Nicki Minaj... She's beautiful, creative, artistic, innovative... I could go on for an entire blog post about why I love her so much (Nicki.. How do you do that ish?).. She is definitely someone the hip-hop industry needed. It's 2010... It's time for artists in all industries (music, fashion, dance, etc.) to go against the mold by stepping outside the box. The Harajuku-Barbie is doing just that. And I love it...

As we all know, "Right Thru Me" was released for digital download on September 24 and to Urban & Rhythmic radio stations on October 5. The single features Nicki Minaj singing the most she ever has on a track. Today, the video for the third single from her much anticipated "Pink Friday" was released. Check it out...

I really enjoyed the video. We're used to seeing Nicki in bright colors and fancy outfits (which I love), but we get to see in her in a more subdued and vulnerable fashion in this video. It's obvious that this song is extremely personal to her. She hasn't spoken about an authentic relationship since her debut... For that reason, this song is pretty special in my opinion.. Keep it up Nicki!

According to Nicki Minaj: "Black Friday" Will Officially Become "Pink Friday.."

The term "Black Friday" has been used multiple times in many different contexts. During the nineteenth century, it was used to describe a financial crisis that hit the United States. In 1966, the Philadelphia Police Department used it to describe the awful vehicle traffic as well as the robbery of several downtown stores that occurred on the day after Thanksgiving. The term gained more exposure around 1975 when it was described as the busiest shopping and traffic day of the year.

Do any of you think it's possible for a female rap sensation to officially change the name of this national shopping holiday?

If you never imagined that an individual would be capable of something such as this, think again! Nicki Minaj just announced the title and release date of her much anticipated debut album via USTREAM:

The album will be titled "Pink Friday."
The anticipated release date is November 22, 2010.

A quick look at a calendar reveals that the album will be released a few days before "Black Friday.." Well, according to the Harajuku Barbie herself, "Pink Friday.."

After making personal calls to a few lucky fans, Nicki explained to us that she feels she possesses the power to change the name of the nation's shopping holiday, "Black Friday", to a name much more suitable to her as well as her generation of Barbies, "Pink Friday."

Quoting Nicki: “To carry on a great tradition of Black Friday, we are going to switch it up this year in honor of the Nicki Minaj album and call that day Pink Friday, and call my album Pink Friday...”

In my opinion, I think it's a rather unique way of making an impact not only on the world of Hip-Hop, but the world itself. Check out the announcement video below:

Taylor Swift Announces the Title and Release Date of her new Album!!

As we all know, Taylor Swift experienced much success in 2009. Earlier today, she announced the details of her upcoming album via Ustream:

The album will be titled "Speak Now."
The anticipated release date is October 25, 2010.

Taylor informed fans why she chose the title to be "Speak Now." She told fans that it "pertains to the album as a concept, and an entire theme of the record, more than I can tell you."

The young artist also informed fans that she's been writing singles for the album since "Fearless" released back in 2008. She said: "Thankfully, in the past two years I’ve experienced a lot of things that I’ve been dying to write about. A lot of things that I’ve wanted to say in the moment that I didn’t.. Track by track, each song is a different confession to a different person.”

The first song from the album will be aired on the radio in mid-August. Titled "Mine", Taylor informs us that the song is about her recent tendency to run from love. The song is about her finding the exception to that tendency.

My Trip to New York City!!!

As stated in my last personal life post, I was the winner of an essay contest on Myspace.. The grand prize was an all expense paid trip to New York City for the world premiere of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice". The winner would also be allowed to accompany the Myspace host on the red carpet and interview the cast of the movie.. It was nothing short of amazing!!

After an extremely long flight from Dallas to Philadelphia then to New York City, I was ecstatic! The first thing I noticed was the fact that it was much hotter in New York than in Dallas. Upon arrival at Laguardia airport in New York, my roommate and I quickly jumped into the car that was awaiting our arrival.. We were really nervous. As you all know, the driving in New York is pretty bad.. Seriously, I was nervous as we were driven to our hotel.

Upon arrival at the hotel, we immediately dropped our baggage onto the beds and headed for Times Square. Our hotel was directly in the center of this awesome area. We snapped pictures, recorded videos, and made our way to the first restaurant we encountered, Olive Garden. The food was great as usual. I absolutely love their salads.

After eating we made our way back to the hotel and took a much needed nap.. I awoke at about 7:00 pm and went to explore the city. I went to Zara, H&M, American Eagle, Express, and some other stores.. I had no idea that there is no sales tax on clothing in New York.. I was really shocked.

After exploring, I made my way back to the hotel room. My roommate was finally awake so we decided to go back out into Times Square to get a bite to eat. After eating, we decided to turn it in for the night. Sleep came easily. I was completely drained from the heat. I was so tired..

Now that I think about it, I'm tired now. I'll post about the movie premiere tomorrow..

A College Degree is Just a "Formal Piece of Paper"...

Inspiration for this article comes from a great article by Rachel M. Esterline, a highly successful young woman and recent graduate of Central Michigan University. She expressed some of the same ideas and views that I have been pondering for some time now.

As stated above in the title, a college degree is just a formal piece of paper. College students spend thousands of dollars to attain these pieces of paper. I know I did. I pursued an education beyond the Baccalaureate level, and it cost me a pretty penny..

Of course as we all know, it is said that we should pursue higher education in order to secure a fulfilling career. That's' true. But when it comes down to those individuals desiring to secure an entry-level position in a field they really enjoy but may not necessarily be educated in (example: a musician seeking to become a Social Media Coordinator for an advertising agency or marketing firm), securing a position is ten times as hard than attaining a position you were educated to uphold. It's a result of the age old adage implying that employers should select candidates who have pursued a formal education in the profession they are desiring to become a part of. Pish posh...

Now don't get me wrong, there are professions in which a specific degree is an absolute necessity (examples: medicine (MD), law (JD), etc.). There are also professions that don't require you to have a specific degree (examples: sports, entertainment, etc.). In order for individuals to succeed in a career in which they received no formal education, they must possess certain skills and talents... Beyonce didn't pursue a degree in voice, but she is a talented singer.. She possesses certain skills. The fabulous B. Scott didn't pursue a degree in Media or Communications, but he is a highly talented communicator and media personality.

The moral of this post is this: A college degree is just a piece of paper.. It takes certain skills to succeed in a career.. Here are some of the skills required to succeed in the professional world:

1. Hands on experience: (This is a no-brainer) To be considered for an entry-level position, you have to prove that you possess what it takes to succeed in the position you're applying for. If you have some type of previous experience, great! If you don't, inform the employer of the skills you've gained from other opportunities that you feel would benefit you in this position. Go out and gain some type of experience. Whether you volunteer for a non-profit organization or provide assistance to an expert in the field, gain some type of experience for the job.

2. Be proactive: Being proactive simply means creating a situation by causing it to happen rather than responding to it after it has already happened. Plan before you act. Learn as much as you can about a particular industry or profession beforehand. Conduct research, ask for advice from industry experts, etc.. Get creative. This would improve your marketability for the position.

3. Market your product: (Product = Self) Share with an employer why you are the perfect candidate for the job. Jump on the desk and say that the company needs you! (not literally) But you should definitely market yourself. You should consider utilizing social media techniques for this as well.

4. Network: Network with professionals in the industry you're desiring to be a part of. What better way to learn about a profession (and career opportunities) than from the experts of a particular profession themselves. Utilize social media techniques (social networking sites, blogging, etc.) to connect with these professionals. Most of them, if not all, are eager to share their knowledge with individuals of like mind.

5. Research the company: Before going into an interview, even before you apply, you should research the company. Most companies have websites which makes this process much easier. You have insight into their organization right at your fingertips. Why wouldn't you learn more about the company? This would allow you to discover if you would enjoy working for the company. Learn about the company's achievements. Mention the successes that really impressed you in the interview. Employers admire candidates that truly know about their company.

6. Ask questions: Prepare a few questions beforehand. When a candidate shows up for an interview lacking a few questions, an employer takes that as you portraying a lack of interest in the company and the job you're applying for. Ask questions such as: Do you feel that my qualities would allow me to successfully uphold this position? Could you describe a few of the tasks I would be responsible for that aren't listed in the job description? When you come to an interview with questions, an employer becomes more interested in you.

7. Personality: (I believe this to be a no-brainer also) I shouldn't have to explain this quality. But I will go ahead and do so. Don't go into an interview with the personality of a teaspoon.. Employers are eager to hire interesting people. Even if you were in the top 5% of Harvard University's graduating class of 2010, if you possess the personality of a door knob, I'm 80% sure you WON'T get that dream job... Lighten up!

As I've said, a college degree is merely a piece of paper. A formal piece of paper that cost you thousands of dollars to attain. Possessing a degree is not a set-in-stone requirement to get a job. You need the qualities and skills that would allow you to perform the job successfully. Several of them. Think about it.. Would you hire someone with no skills and a degree from another field? Or would you hire someone with a degree from another field and a plethora of beneficial skills they could cater to the job at hand?

I have only listed a few of the skills you need to develop to get your foot in the door of any career.. Be sure to know which skills you need to possess in order to get that dream job.

While surfing the web today, I came across a nifty article that talked about ten careers that could benefit by utilizing Twitter. As you all know, Twitter is a social networking and microblogging website that allows its users to post and read other user status updates called "tweets". Most companies that come to mind all have an account on this social network. Whatever your profession, you have to market yourself or your brand (product) to stimulate people's interest. I think it's safe to say that all professionals could truly benefit from this 140 character phenomenon.

Listed below are most of the careers the author listed (in no particular order) along with a few others that could benefit by utilizing Twitter:

1. Real estate agents: These professionals could utilize Twitter to locate potential clients. People constantly tweet about their personal lives and I've seen a number of tweets from users attempting to relocate to other locations. Of course they would need a place to call home.

2. Bloggers: We as bloggers put massive amounts of time and effort into our blogs. Each of us would like the world to see and read our work. Twitter is the perfect tool to promote our content.

3. Actors/Actresses: These professionals utilize Twitter to stay relevant and in-the-know. It allows them to know that they have fans who are always eager to find out what’s next in their career.

4. Event promoters: Twitter would allow these individuals to make the online community aware of the events they’re promoting.

5. Politicians: Twitter was used throughout the 2008 presidential campaign. It allows politicians to connect to those they are representing in a unique way.

6. Authors: These professionals could utilize Twitter to promote their compositions. It would be amazing exposure for past, present, and future works.

7. Job Recruiters: If your company is hiring, people definitely want to know. These professionals could tweet job openings to the Twitter community and receive responses from potential candidates.

8. Journalists: These professionals could tweet links to their stories and have them read by all types of people.

9. Fitness Trainers: People are always looking for new techniques to use in the when working out. Twitter would allow these professionals to tweet tips and exercises to try out in the gym.

10. Business owners: This one speaks for itself. Twitter would allow business owners to promote their products and services to many people. It’s all about connecting with others.

Earlier today while searching the internet for information on social media strategies as always, I came across a great social media article. The article discusses how to build relationships online by utilizing techniques beyond basic social media practices (connecting via social networking sites). Although there are many ways to build and strengthen relationships online, the author gives three of the most effective ways to do so:

1. Build a list of email subscribers.

It is highly important to create a list of subscribers to market your products and services to. You should keep the lines of communication open so that you remain at the forefront of their mind.

2. Maintain a blog and build a list of blog subscribers.

The fact that a blog is frequently updated is what makes it different than a website. People will continue to visit your blog if it contains consistent, fresh content. The goal is for these visitors to subscribe to your blog via RSS feed or email.

3. Send a regular email newsletter.

The moment you start building a list of email subscribers, your goal is to provide a high level of value to them regularly. Sending emails that only ask for the sale or those that simply promote your products is never enough. An email newsletter is a great way of giving valuable content while staying in their minds.

Lady Gaga performs on "The Today Show" in New York City!!

Earlier today, Lady Gaga mesmerized an audience of 20,000 fans during her appearance on "The Today Show".. MSNBC reported that it was the largest crowd to ever pack Rockefeller Plaza for a concert.. Lady Gaga performed a cover of George Gershwin's "Someone to Watch Over Me" that meshed into "Bad Romance". She also performed her new song "You and I", "Allejandro", and "Teeth" (during a down pour of rain)..

The fans who waited overnight on the sidewalk to get good positions at the concert were in for a big surprise.. Lady Gaga had pizzas sent to them all!! That is truly something. You can't deny that Lady Gaga is absolutely amazing.. She's definitely becoming an "icon"...

SURPRISE!!!!

For all of those individuals that harshly accused Lady Gaga of being man, she's silently shouting a big "FORGET YOU" by posing as a man for a men's fashion editorial... Citing the Daily Mail:

"Lady Gaga seems to have managed to pull another fashion surprise out of her seemingly endless repertoire, by posing as a man. A series of new photographs appear to show the controversial singer dressed in a series of suits and shirts, with her normally platinum hair gelled up in a dark quiff. Gone are the usual extravagant costumes usually showcased by the star. In their place are sombre suits and conservative white shirts."

These photographs were taken in London by reknowned Brithish photographer, Nick Knight OBE (Order of the British Empire; Officer).. These photos are set to appear in the September issue of Vogue Hommes Japan...

You have to give it to Lady Gaga, she isn't afraid of anything. The love of her fans is her true motivation.. And she refuses to let anything come between her and her little monsters...

Larry King is Ending his Live CNN Talk Show!!

Larry King himself announced via Twitter that he will be ending his show "Larry King Live" this Fall... He also stated that he will continue to work with CNN by hosting a number of Larry King specials on major national and international topics. Below is the tweet he posted yesterday evening:

"@KingsThings Announcing tonight: I’m ending my nightly show this fall but continuing at CNN. www.larrykinglive.blogs.cnn.com."

I really liked watching "Larry King Live".. He always invited a wide range of guests (musicians, athletes, politicians, other talk show hosts, etc.) to his show. It was exciting to watch him interview everyone.. He asked questions that I would come up with to ask an interviewee. He explained that ending the show would allow him and his wife much more time to get to the kids' little league games.

Congratulations to Larry King for being a part of a show with a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest running show with the same host in the same time slot.. Larry King undeniably loved his job.. I look forward to his Larry King specials in the future...

"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Coolest Job Ever Contest... I WON!!!

What's up world!! Adonis here.. About two weeks ago, I signed onto Myspace.com.. Yes I still have an account. LOL! Before I went to the homepage, I saw an advertisement titled "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Coolest Job Ever contest..

The grand prize winner, along with one guest, would be awarded an all expense paid trip to New York City for the world premiere of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice".. The winner also gets the chance to accompany the Myspace host on the red carpet and interview the cast of the movie...

To enter, contestants had to add the page and leave a 300 word or less essay comment explaining why they should be chosen as the grand prize winner.. I read some of the other comments. Most of them were one-liners saying things like: "OMG! This would be so cool!! or You guys need to pick me because I rock!!" As I read these other comments, I decided that I wanted to type a comment that was of substance.. This is what I wrote:

"I deserve to be the Red Carpet Apprentice because I deserve an opportunity such as this. I’ve always dreamed of visiting New York City. It’s one of the leading national centers of Art, Music, and Literature. For an artist, it would be a life-changing experience if granted the opportunity to visit this amazing city.

Throughout my life, I've been a HUGE fan of the Science Fiction/Fantasy genre of novels, films, and television shows. I am undeniably amped about this movie. As a kid, I remember watching the Mickey Mouse short from Disney’s "Fantasia" and asking my mother how to magically make a broom do my chores. Her reaction was memorable. I can't wait to arrive at the New Amsterdam Theater on July 6th, walk the carpet as the Red Carpet Apprentice, and witness the premiere of “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” first hand. It’s definitely going to be a night to remember."

This short essay made me the winner of the grand prize.. Exactly 300 words... I was pretty shocked that I actually won.. I mean, I'm a good writer, I knew my essay was good. I knew I had a chance of winning.. But I didn't think I would actually win. I can attest that good things happen to good individuals.. Now, I should be receiving that tweet on Twitter from @MTVTJ informing me that I've been selected as one of the MTV Twitter Jockey Top 20 contestants... LoL!! Seriously... I want that tweet...

Apple has Sold a Plethora of iPhone 4's!! Go Figure..

What's up world!! Adonis here.. I'm bringing some iPhone news to you guys today... First, I have to say that I am SOO tired... I've been up since about 3:14 pm yesterday... *yawns* Okay, on to the iPhone...

Yesterday morning, Apple shared with the world that it sold over 1.7 million of the iPhone 4 within the first three days of its launch!!! Wow.. That's around the amount of The Carter III's that sold back in 2008.. The first time I saw the advertisement, I figured the iPhone 4 would sell extremely well..

Apple has called this iPhone 4 take over the "most successful product launch in its history" as cited by Steve Jobs (co-founder and CEO of Apple and Pixar). I'm sure you all know how 'extreme' that statement is... Extreme, but true...

I also want to give the following information because it seems appropriate to do so... It took Apple 28 days to sell 1 million iPads, 59 days to sell 2 million, and 80 days to sell 3 million..

Congratulations to Apple for the success of the iPhone sales.. I still have the iPhone 3GS.. I'll get the iPhone 4 sooner or later...

Me Playing the Acoustic version of "Paparazzi" by Lady Gaga (My Favorite Artist!!!)

Hey guys! I recently learned to play the popular hit "Paparazzi" by Lady Gaga on the piano.. I learned this by ear, which I'm very proud to say. LoL! I'm a classical pianist. I normally learn pieces (Piano sonatas, Etudes, Nocturnes, Scherzi, etc.) by reading the music the legendary composers (Liszt, Chopin, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Mozart, etc.) notated out.. I really like this song so I learned it by ear...

In no way is this a perfect performance of the song.. I just wanted to have some fun.. I didn't sing while playing in this video so feel free to sing along, aloud or in your mind, as I play the two verses.. I decided to go to a practice room on the campus of my alma mater, Southern Methodist University (Dallas, Texas), and record myself playing on a grand piano... It's a Yamaha.. I like Steinways much more, but Yamaha makes a good grand piano as well..

The "King of Pop" Will Never Be Forgotten...

June 25, 2009 was one of the world's most dreadful days. An international superstar passed from this life into the world of the beyond. Two days ago was the anniversary of the death of the legend himself, Michael Jackson. I first found out about Michael Jackson's death via Facebook and Twitter.. The moment I saw the first MJ update on Facebook, I thought it was a complete joke. I thought to myself: "How dare someone say such a thing?" Moments later, I saw that Michael suffered from cardiac arrest and was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I didn't want to believe it..

After what seemed like countless hours, Michael Jackson was pronounced dead. There was a somber feeling seeping through the air that day. We lost an icon, a legend.. The King of Pop had been taken from us. Even though he is no longer with us on this plane of existence, he still lives on within our hearts; the hearts of the world.
