A Great Awakening Is Coming to Theaters Over Easter Weekend 2026

Mike and I have enjoyed many productions of the Sight & Sound company. We are excited to learn of a new movie coming April 3rd for a week.

To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, A Great Awakening portrays the friendship between the Reverend George Whitefield and Benjamin Franklin. In the movie, we will travel back to the American colonies about 40 years before the American Revolution when our country experienced the First Great Awakening. The peak of this revival was from 1739 to 1742 during George Whitfield’s preaching tours.

Hurricane Helene: Franklin Graham Special

I recommend a Samaritan’s Purse documentary, Storms of Life. It’s about recovery efforts, and lives changed, after Hurricane Helene. This film will encourage you as you face your own difficulties.

This Franklin Graham special aired on ABC  last week. You can watch it online: Storms of Life.

The film focuses on relief efforts in Florida and North Carolina. Thousands of people need our help and prayers because of the storm’s devastation.

Daniel Live: Limited Showings Over Labor Day

Daniel will be in movie theaters from August 30 through September 2, 2024

Daniel is a filmed version of a live Sight & Sound stage production.

If you aren’t familiar with Sight & Sound, they have huge theaters in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Branson, Missouri, We saw Ruth at the Sight & Sound theater in Lancaster. We were surrounded by a huge stage. Live animals were used. Actors came onto the stage from the audience floor. It was an amazing experience.

We’re going to see Daniel at a local theater with our family. How about you?

Who Was Daniel?

Daniel was a teenager in Jerusalem when the Babylonians took him into captivity in the 6th century BC.

He was a loyal and capable advisor to kings from Nebuchadnezzar II to the Persian conqueror Cyrus.

God was faithful to Daniel and also spoke prophecies through him.

Jesus Film by Deaf for Deaf Coming in June 2024

The movie, JESUS: A Deaf Missions Film, will be shown in limited theaters at the end of June 2024. The film brings the gospel to life for the world’s 70 million Deaf people.

This new film about Jesus Christ is unique. It’s performed in American Sign Language (ASL) and subtitles. The producer, director, and cast are deaf. Native signers present a Deaf perspective for a Deaf audience.

One woman said the film “was beautiful, long-awaited, emotional, and just miraculous.” She continued, “The best part was sitting next to my Deaf friend and hearing her gasp at scenes and cry at others. She said she felt like she was in heaven because she never thought she’d get to see Jesus speaking her language in her lifetime on earth.”

In June, you have the opportunity to share Christ with the Deaf community in their language, ASL.

Was the Eclipse a Spiritual Experience for You?

I enjoyed seeing the eclipse today from Florida and watching the news coverage from the path of totality. Many people said the total solar eclipse was a spiritual experience.

I kept thinking of Psalm 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.” God is even more glorious than the eclipses that He created.

Former U. S. Vice President, Mike Pence, tweeted today on X:

“Astronomers . . .  tell us that there are 295 moons in our solar system. And yet ours is the only moon with the exact size and distance to perfectly match the sun and produce the amazing spectacle we see somewhere on our planet every 18 months or so. If our moon was any smaller the sky would not turn dark, and if it was any larger, we would never see that brilliant corona. For many, it is a source of wonder, that the one place where these amazing eclipses occur, is the one place where there are observers to see them.

“In one of his humorous harangues about ‘Life Below the Beltway,’ Washington Post contributor Gene Weingarten once admitted, ‘I am a devout atheist but can’t explain why the moon is exactly the right size, and gets positioned so precisely between the earth and the sun, that total solar eclipses are perfect. It bothers me.’ (The Washington Post, Sunday, March 8, 2009).”
