No waders or water, just pure shooting! This Uruguayan destination is home to some of the best decoyed pigeon shooting in the southern hemisphere and the lodge overlooks one of the largest pigeon roosts in Uruguay. The hunts start early while the sun rises and lasts until late morning. Shoots are performed from dry comfortable blinds that are strategically placed on the edge of sunflower or other grain fields that are with in close proximity to the lodge. Decoys are placed and coffee is poured as the action begins. On this hunt, the afternoons are spent shooting the outrageous dove population that also calls this place home. You may also do some upland hunting in the form of Perdize over pointing dogs if you would like. This is a very game rich area and the abundance of game will amaze you! If you are looking for a relaxing hunt that is full of trigger pulling excitement, then this may be the one for you.

Dates: Year round (Perdize hunting is availible from May 1- July 31)

Transportation: You will arrive in Montevideo, Uruguay and transfer to the lodge

Location: Northwest Uruguay

Jan. 4, 2009 Alberta Coyote hunting

The Sporting Traveler is excited about offering this new destination. This destination takes this sport very seriously! In an area of Southern Alberta where Coyotes are so abundant they may be considered the plague, our outfitter is really the only one that hunts them correctly or at all! With very little pressure, tremendous habitat and an abundant game population, this hunt is second to none. We see an average of 25-40 + coyotes per day. Our best six-day hunt, we killed 46 prime coyotes "on film" with two shooters at each set. This is a great way to extend your hunting season and is one of the most action packed hunting experiences we have today. The southern prairies of Alberta Canada are home to some of the best spot and stalk hunting on the planet. The shear numbers of deer seen on an average day hunting are staggering, you can expect to see 20-30bucks per day. Bucks in the 170 to 180 class are very attainable. Each season there are a couple of deer taken in the famed 200 class range. The habitat is primarily rolling foothills, brushy coulees and winding river bottoms. Mule deer numbers are very high with tremendous trophy potential. If you are looking for the finest in spot and stalk Mule deer hunting with the opportunity to harvest a true monster, then this is a hunt that you need to be on.

Dates: Archery (Sept. 3- Nov. 4)

Gun (Oct. 24- Nov. 30)

Transportation: You will need to fly to Lethbridge or Calgary Alberta

Dec. 20 New Retail progam

For the past few years The Sporting Traveler has been present in a select few small retail environments around the upper Midwest. This program has proven to be beneficial for everyone involved. The retailer now has a trust worthy product in the form of adventure travel and The Sporting Traveler continues to become readily available to the public. This is a new media for The Sporting Traveler because the company was built on the wonderful referrals of past clients. Even though this new program increases the number of times the phone rings in a day, we still stand strong in our interest in finding the best hard hunting clients we can. We have added 10 new retailers in Minnesota and look to continue to expand. We will be adding a link to our website "support our supporters" where you will have direct access to all the retail environment we are in. These places can be very helpful to the passionate hunter as they have been hand selected by The Sporting Traveler for their customer service and quality of work and professionalism. Stores tend to be custom archery shops, custom gun shops and extremely talented taxidermists. We invite you to continue to check back for the link to these great places!

Kansas Spring Turkey

The rolling hills of Southeast Kansas are home to some of the best gobbler hunting in the country. The Show season is starting soon and normally we don't do very many shows because our business comes from the great past clients that trust in us with their friends and family members and referred them to us. This season is a little different in the fact that we have committed to participating in a couple large shows in the way of giving seminars on international wing shooting. This season you can see The Sporting Traveler in Kansas City at the 55Th Annual Kansas City Sport Show from Jan. 7-9, 2009 and also in Milwaukee, WI at the Milwaukee Journal Sentential Sport Show March 12-16, 2009. We have been asked by a few others and may add them to the list in the coming weeks. If you are available on those dates and are in the area, we would love to see you!

Nov. 1, 2008 New destination in Missouri

Nov. 1, 2008 found The Sporting Traveler staff traveling to central Missouri to hunt greenheads over flooded corn and timber. We have been looking for a great late season waterfowl destination for a few years now. We have found it! Allot of the time when visiting wing shooting destinations we find that the lodge is relatively nice, but they really have no idea on how to kill ducks or geese and are stuck to hunting the same way no matter what the weather is. That is not true with this destination. Like so many people manage land for deer, this destination is 100% committed to moist soil management for waterfowl. Because the options are so wide open, the hunt can change day to day. The wind may be blowing with high skies on day one and you find yourself crammed in a bath tube size hole in the flooded pin oaks and on day two cloudy skies with a cold front finds you smashing greenheads over flooded corn. Personally I will take the bath tube in the timber any day! It is truly magical to watch 100 Mallard ducks come straight down on you in the timber, it makes it real ruff for them coming out! No matter flooded corn, timber, crp or dry field hunting these guys have it all and know how to get it done better then most. We would recommend this great wing shooting adventure to anyone that has the passion. Accommodations at this time are in a small remodeled home on the edge of a one horse town in north central Missouri and they plan to break ground on a new lodge this spring. We are excited to be on the ground floor with these guys and look for greatness in the near future! If you would like to experience world class waterfowling I would suggest that you reserve your dates for next season. They also have probably one of the best lodge based spring snow goose operations around. This September Royce's persistence paid off when he finally go the chance to draw back on a rutting bull at 30 yards. He delivered a perfect arrow and the bull was down! This operation is well known for consistently putting you under tornadoes of decoying snow geese. Having thousands of acres of private ground around major refuges, in the best areas of Missouri at their disposal allows them to do this. This 200 thousand acre working ranch is home to some of the finest wing-shooting opportunities found on the planet. Mornings are spent shooting waterfowl in one of the numerous lakes found on the property, while the mid morning hunts are done over pointing dogs for Perdize. This is the only ranch we have found that you have a daily opportunity to harvest all three species of Perdize. After the morning hunts have concluded you will make your way back to the ranch where you will have a wonderful lunch and rest up for the afternoon shoot. Afternoons are spent either shooting decoyed Pigeons are burning up the Dove fields. All aspects of this adventure are fantastic. We usually start the adventure with your arriving flight to Mendoza via Santiago, Chille. Some people like to take a day and see the city and maybe do a vinyard tour, the choice is yours.

This is an outstanding adventure and one of the greatest places to start for your first Argentine adventure because you get to see all aspects of wing-shooting that are offered in this great country.

Dates: June 18- Aug. 18

Includes:
• Lodging (double occupancy)
• Meals (breakfast, Lunch, Tea and Dinner)
• Open Bar
• Bird boys
• Dogs
• Transfers to and from the hunting fields
• Hunting license

Not Included:
• Single room (is available upon request)
• Shells
• Gratuities for staff and bird boys
• Gun rental
• Gun importing

Argentina Waterfowl Hunting

This long standing duck destination sits within close proximity of the wonderful city of Buenos Aires. The landscape is rich in water and farm fields which makes for great duck habitat. You will hunt all types of water on this adventure, from large lagoons to small ponds and rivers, which is home to numerous species of waterfowl that inhabit Argentina. This countryside is also rich in Argentine culture and is a must visit for the adventurous waterfowler. Hosted by one of the finest in the waterfowl industry. This northern Minnesota native landed in South America some 10years ago, partnered with a long standing Argentine outfitter and has never left. This outfitter and host combo team is hard to beat when it comes to great hunting and an all around wonderful experience. The estancia is a well manicured English style dwelling that holds no more then 6 shooters at one time. Rooms all have private bath and some with beautiful fireplaces. The great room is home to the bar and a great place to sit and reminisce about the days shoot. This lodge is 100% hunter friendly with a mud room to store waders and wipe down your gun after a days shoot. The best part about this destination is the people that run it and the location close to the airport which eliminated transfer fees and also it close proximity to some of the best duck hunting in the province. This is a winner for the guys that want to experience South American duck hunting at its finest!

Dates: May 1-July 31

Includes:
• Lodging (double occupancy)
• Meals (breakfast, Lunch, Tea and Dinner)
• Open Bar
• Bird boys
• Dogs
• Ground transportation from the international airport to the lodge and back
• Transfers to and from the hunting fields
• Hunting license
• 6 shoots
• Afternoon Perdize hunting if you would like

Not Included:
• Single room (is available upon request)
• Shells
• Gratuities for staff and bird boys
• Gun rental
• Gun importing

New Destinations

Sporting Traveler Inc. prides itself on the hard work we put into finding the absolute best destinations for our clients. This is our 6 straight season going to Saskatchewan in search of a whitetail destination that we feel fits what we are looking for. For the first time in Sporting Traveler history we decided to take a group of very brave clients with us on this adventure. Normally we do not do this because when visiting a destination for the first time we are going into the unknown and we do not what to do that to our clients, it is our job to find the destinations so you don’t have to! We wouldn’t be in business if we would have had clients with on the past 5 trips to Sask! To make a long story short, THE SEARCH IS OVER! This destination is exactly what we thought it would be. Hands down this is the most organized, well run, clean, smoke free, game rich whitetail destination I have ever been to in Saskatchewan. We harvested 3 bucks for 4 hunters; I was the only hunter that did not take a deer. I had my chances and either passed or just simply got beat! I saw the deer I was after on day 4 and at 9:00am on day 5 he showed himself and I screwed up and some how must have spooked him. This is the first lodge situated on the west side of Hudson Bay, so the birds have not been hunted when they arrive at the feeding grounds. For goose hunters, we set natural willow, spruce and tamarack blinds positioned near grounds frequented by the geese. Decoys are expertly set; then it’s up to you.
