Sweater, long sleeve knit & chinos: all from SIMONS. Shoes: ALIFE NYC. Aviators: GUCCI.

Every summer, I love to embrace the nautical look—Perfect stripes, neutral palettes with a pop of colour, boating shoes, cable knits and symbols that represent everything from the sea and land. It makes me dream of boating through the breathtaking canals of Venice, Italy or sailing underneath the beating sun of the exotic Mexican waters. So until that happens, I'm just going to dress like I belong on a giant yacht even if I'm just walking down the street to the nearest convenience store for a pack of gum.

Much thanks to Simons, a definite fashion forerunner who helped with adding some great nautical inspired pieces for my wardrobe this summer season. So please check Simons and don't forget to join them on Facebook to get the latest fashion news and innovative trends.

On another note and due to popular demand, I have decided to smile in my photos yet for one more blog post. . . But don't get too comfortable because this is probably may be the last of it, but if not, this is definitely the very last time you will ever see my hair like this. I've recently had a drastic—quite extreme actually, bit of a makeover. . .but I'll save the sappy lame details and the very anticipated photos of my new look for the next blog post.

Black skinny jeans to me are like what a little black dress is to a woman—The go to garment you can always rely on.

You can dress it up with a blazer and a smart pair of polished lace-up shoes or on the go with a racer jacket and sneakers—plain black skinny jeans are a staple in my closet and is something I know will work with every outfit that I put on.

I don't swear by or is loyal to any particular brand when it comes to them but I am however, extremely finicky when it comes to the fit. I have giant calves like a kick boxer but a dainty small waist like a ballerina. Shopping for jeans is definitely a frustration but I love the utter feeling of satisfaction when I slip into a pair that fits so perfect, it feels like it was made for me. *Swipe*Swipe* Charge it on my Visa, I'll skip a handful of meals to have enough money to deal with the bill when it comes later.

Like I've said before many times on my blog, it's not about the label thats sewn inside your clothes, it's about the fit.

My current admiration are these pair of black skinny 'Bradys' from Parasuco. A nice mid-rise fit, tapered leg, nice coated finish, tonal stitching, incredibly comfortable and most importantly, it fits superbly. Major love from me to everyone at Parasuco.

And for all you denim lovers out there, 'LIKE' Parasuco's Facebook page NOW and be eligible to win a summer shopping spree with Parasuco this season.

LOOK! THE PHOTO ABOVE! I'm actually laughing in a picture. It's proof that I'm not an emotionless robot with one chronic bitch facial expression in all my photos taken on my blog. I don't smile much in my photos nor do I ever…like EVER show my pearly whites on camera but don't let that illustrate to you that I'm expressionless or cold because if anything, I have more emotions than a sorority house full of girls all on their period.

It should be captured on camera more often but I've learned to smile more in person. Smiling is the best accessory anyone can have, even better than any covet Chanel bag you could be seen carrying. It attracts people—magnetizes them actually. So smile, because it's the second best thing you can do with your lips. ;)

This segment is Part 2 of a GQ makeover (Watch Part 1 HERE) that I gave on a our very handsome volunteer, James—who was such a good sport that was willing to try on anything I threw on him.

I give pointers and style tips in this menswear clip and hopefully it will help all you gentlemen out there when putting an outfit together and when you go shopping. From the homophobic hate mail to the nasty deprecating comments to even the gossip around town, thanks for talking. Camo prints paired with black hues and neutral tones while accessorizing with luxuriously beautiful leathers and gold accents, I'm on the hunt for a new Spring wardrobe and I'm definitely not coming home empty handed if that means trampling over a bunch of 6 inch stiletto wearing Amazons at a sample sale.

1) LINDA FARROW x DRIES VAN NOTEN 20C2 gold aviators. $270
2) BOTTEGA VENETA washed nappa leather safari jacket. $8,100
3) MULBERRY Postman's lock calfskin bag. $1,440
4) RICK OWENS cashmere beanie hat. $450
5) JOHN VARVATOS Six O'Six convertible suede boots. $650
6) ANN DEMEULEMEESTER black cotton "Chess" shirt. $340
7) BALMAIN washed zip-pocket biker jeans. $1,095
8) BEAMS PLUS camouflage print tapered cotton trousers. $220
9) RICK OWENS extra long top. $415
10) BALMAIN perforated leather lapel twill wool jacket. $4,950

On a side note: MUCH LOVE to the incredibly beautiful Karissa of saturdaynightsalrite, who has graciously included me in one of her videos titled, "Blogs I Love", on her YouTube channel. While in NYC I'll be spending money I don't have on an over the top wardrobe for spring and I'll be stuffing my face with enough food that could feed an entire orphanage because. . .I'm on vacation. Hell yeeeeah!

The best thing about being on vacation in a different city is the fact that you are a tourist, nonlocal, stranger. . .basically 'unknown'. Being born and raised in Vancouver, the city to me has become tiny and everyone knows each other and each other's damn business and having a local blog definitely adds more shine to the spotlight. Just being able to run away for a week and be a stranger is great but to be in a place like New York City where life is beyond vibrant, it's going to be amazing.

On another note, major love to the guys at SOLEONE LUXURY BASICS.I'm a strong advocate of simple basic pieces who believes that everyone should have a great supply of quality essentials, such as incredibly soft white-tees and ultra comfortable undergarments for the wardrobe. When you work 45 hours (even more at times) a week like I do, the time you can have off to yourself is beyond precious, it's actually what I believe is more valuable than a coveted Birkin—But don't get me wrong, I would still trade one of my internal organs for that bag if I was given the oportunity.

Everytime I am asked how my weekend was by others, my answer is always, "wonderful". I could have done absolutely dick all nothing besides eat a bag of chips and tweeze my eyebrows, but my weekend would still be wonderful because I didn't have to work and it was my free time to spend however I wanted. Free time is a simple thing that is often taken for granted, but really it's those simple things that make our lives appreciative.

How do you guys spend your free time?

Angela Matina + To Vogue Or Bust + The Starving Stylist + Bleed For Fashion

Px.
FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER

From wine tasting in Sonoma to fine dining in Mill Valley, brunches in South Park and shopping sprees in Union Square to twerkin' the dance floor at the clubs with my boy Shafiyi and the ultra fabulous Anna T. of i need a social life blog—San Francisco was amazing.

Also, this trip was a realization of how fortunate I am to have a current particular person in my life that loves me enough to stick around despite knowing how psychotic and demanding I may be—Finally... Someone who adores me and all of my 58,625 flaws. Thank you my Anh. xo

So. . .what sort of delightful finds did I get in San Fran you may ask? But when you have an offer of 50 bucks for $25, well you'll be stupid not to pick up an offer like that.

With that said and for someone with a shopping addiction like myself, I just HAD to pick up an offer like that on TeamBuy.ca, where the deal was a $50 credit for $25 at American Apparel because a person can never have enough basics in their wardrobe.

So to all my fellow Canadians out there, sign up for TeamBuy.ca and check out their daily deals to start saving hundreds of dollars on local activities & services, salon visits & restaurant meals, travel packages and more.

I visit everyday and to be quite frank, I can't wait for the day when there will be a deal on botox injections or liposuction because I'll be buying as many as I can for myself and to give away as Christmas presents.

Px.
FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER

Well I've been having a rough week—the sort of kind where you would like to crawl into a dark black hole with a giant bag of Cheetos and die. So aside from spoiling myself with a brand new tweed sport coat for the winter (which I TOTALLY did), I spent an evening being pampered at the salon.

Fresh cut, added colour, polished look and a revitalized attitude–This was exactly what I needed and colourist extraordinaire, Calvyn Cass definitely delivered it to me. So who am I to say what comfort is anyways.

Ergo, I choose to wear scarves tied as ascots instead. I have dozens of scarves, most of them silk. I love the versatility of them—They can be worn many sorts of ways, aside from being around your neck because I will tell you now, if I was to ever break my arm, I'm going to use my Alexander McQueen skull silk scarf as a sling. As for white pants, switch to a winter-white wool trousers instead and I wouldn't necessarily put away white denim just yet. Nothing looks ski lodge chic than white denim in the wintertime with a wool, chunky cozy sweater or turtle neck with some leather boots.

What's your take on white after labour day?

Photographs taken by Lily of Bleed For Fashion.

Px.
FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER

In much news of the attention craving Starving Stylist, I was featured in this month's issue of Vancouver View Magazine! It may not have been a centrefold of the magazine and even though I had to share the limelight with <strike>three other bitches</strike> three other lovely ladies on the page, I certainly am grateful and humble to have been featured in the article along side with some of the city's freshest talents.
You know what people spend the majority of their lives doing?

Escaping from them.

I find my escape through splurging on a new pair of shoes and through music. . .or in a giant glass (or two… NO, make that three) of vino, whatever is more convenient during that time and place of course.

How or what do you guys do to "escape"?
