Utah Trip-Part 2

My parents had a BBQ while I was home and invited some friends, family and neighbors! We had such a good time eating, talking and catching up!

I love my parents backyard! This was before everyone arrived. My mom was scrambling to get things ready.

After we stayed with my parents, it was time for the Steelman family reunion! This was lots of fun!

One night we had a picnic and had a rousing game of badminton! I won. JK...I am actually pretty horrible at it.

This is a picture of all of the Steelman's side grandkids...minus 3. We went to This is the Place Memorial up in Salt Lake. They have made some big improvements since I was there last! It was alot of fun!

It was overall such a fun trip! I was out in Utah for a total of 3 weeks and Ryan was out for 10 days! It was a much needed vacation, and it was so fun to spend so much time with great family and friends! We miss you already!

We went to Utah--Part 1

Lily and I flew out to Utah on July 11th. I knew we were going to be on a booked flight from Baltimore to Arizona and I was really nervous we'd be sitting by people who would be intolert of babies. I was the first person to sit down in our row, so I said a quick little prayer that whoever sat by us would like kids. Guess what...The girl who sat next to us was LDS and had lots of nieces and nephews that she adores. She even held Lily while I went to the bathroom. Talk about an answer to a prayer huh? I felt so lucky! She was heading to Utah too, so she sat next to us again on the flight from Arizona to Utah! It was so nice to finally arrive in Salt Lake. The weather was beautiful....I was so ready to get away from Baltimore's suffocating humidity. We went straight home to Midway! It's soooo beautiful there right now. Around July it starts turning brown because it's so dry but they have been getting an unusual amount of rain this year and it was beautiful and green.

The day after we got there we went swimming at the Homestead! My parents have a membership so they can use the pool in the summer! Lily is a little water baby and has so much fun playing and splashing. My parents had so much fun with her!

Lily got to go out to the pasture with Grandpa and visit their horse Sundance. I thought this was so cute!

My parents were so nice to buy a little kiddie pool for us to play in while we were there! So one day one of my besties came over with her little baby. He is only about 6 weeks younger than Lily! I'm not sure how much he loved the water but we had a good time anyway! Thanks for coming to play Brilee and Tucker!

Lily looks so much bigger in this picture! But I think we figured out that she was only a pound bigger than Tucker!

The next really fun thing we did was go to a BBQ at my friend Jayme's house. Every time I visit Jayme, Lyndee, Tessa and I get together and have a girls night! This time Jayme had us all over to eat some good food and enjoy her cute backyard! Here are a few pictures of the evening! BTW...we are all a little immature when we get together :)

Kirtland, OH

We wend to Kirtland Ohio over the 4th of July weekend. We have some good friends that live about 20 mintues from Kirtland so we stayed with them for the weekend! We had so much fun eating good food and catching up! Thanks Greg and Kelli for such a great time. We are so sad that you moved back to Idaho :( We got alot of pictures, but not any with the 4 of us! The day after we got there we went and saw the sights in Kirtland. It was really cool getting to see the temple and the little town. I never really thought of Ohio as a beautiful place to live, but it's so pretty there! I really loved it!

Willy and Jenny

Ryan's best friend Willy and his wife were in Pennsylvania for a visit before they flew out to France! I know, I'm jealous too. We thought it would be fun to meet them for lunch while they were so close! Ryan and Willy grew up together in Montana, and Willy was one of his best men at our wedding! It was so fun seeing them and catching up!

My sweet mom came out to Baltimore to visit us at the end of April! We had lots of fun going to the National Zoo in Washington DC, we fed Lily rice cereal for the first time, we took my mom to the Hershey Factory in Pennsylvania AND we made a really fun cake for Mother's Day! Here are some pictures!

ps...sorry it's been so long since i've blogged. I'm not going to lie, I've been lazy. More posts to come though!

This girl called me today. She said she had a surprise. She kept it a secret from everyone that she put in her papers to go on a mission. She got her call today. She's going to DC mission/DC temple mission. That is roughly 40 minutes from where I live. YAY!!!!!

We had a relaxing Easter this year! We celebrated with some good friends in our ward and had a yummy dinner! Here are a few pics we took of the day.

Sooooo Behind

Wow, I have been horrible at blogging. Things have been pretty busy lately though. Time has flown by so fast! I guess I'll start posting where I left off.....Ryan had to go to Virginia Beach for a work conference and Lily and I got to tag along. We stayed in the crappiest hotel I have ever been in. The whole place smelled like smoke. It was definitely hard staying there with a little baby...I was happy that they had the foodnetwork though. If we had cable at our house, I would be hooked to the TV all day watching that channel. Anyway, the whole week was pretty rainy so Lily and I stayed in the hotel alot of the time. It was nice because Ryan got done fairly early, so we were able to hang out with him alot! One night we decided to go to this place called Cinebistro. It's a movie theater where you can order dinner. Lily was so good during her first movie, she watched the whole thing! It was pretty cute! Ryan's conference got over on Thursday so on Friday we headed to Outer Banks, NC. Ryan booked us a hotel on the beach. Even though it was about 50 degrees and windy, we had a lot of fun and got some fun pictures on the beach!

Unswaddled

This is how Lily usually sleeps when she is unswaddled. She is doing pretty good sleeping without being wrapped up tight, right now it's only for naps though. Ryan and I are still enjoying sleeping 8+ hours a night....

One of my best friends had her baby about 6 weeks after I had Lily. While I was home we got together a few times and luckily one of those times we had a camera! It was kind of a bummer because I was sick twice while I was home and Lily was sick as well....so we had to stay away from Brilee and baby Tucker for a while.....But once we were better it was so fun to spend time with her and her little man.

This is one of my favorite outfits that Lily has. And she finally fits into it! While I was in Utah I got her dressed in her cute little blue and pink striped outfit and when my dad saw her he said "Looks like a gay bumble bee" Now that's all I think of when she wears it. She's still pretty cute in it though!

Blessing Day

The whole point of our trip to Utah was to be able to bless Lily with friends and family there! It was so nice to visit and have all the aunts and uncles, cousins and granparents meet Lily! Everyone loved her! On the day of her blessing things were a little stressful because Midway was getting a lot of snow. Alot of our family and friends were driving from 30-45 minutes away and they had to make it through Provo canyon...which was not plowed at all! So we were getting phone calls left and right from people saying they might not make it. I was soooo stressed out, and so was my mom. We were also hosting a little luncheon after sacrament meeting and had gotten a ton of food! Luckily everyone made it right on time with no real trouble! Ryan gave Lily a beautiful blessing and she didn't make a peep while she was in their arms. (I was worrying she wouldn't like how they were holding her and she'd start screaming)

Baby Lily

I have taken a lot of pictures of Lily since she was born, unfortunately alot of them haven't been posted. Here are a few of her around 1 month old.

Here are a few taken around 2 months...

The last two and a half months of being this little girls mama have been so wonderful. She brings more joy to my life than I ever thought was possible. I will admit the first few weeks were tough, probably the biggest adjustment I've ever had to make in my life. I think I started enjoying things more and started getting the hang of things more when she started sleeping better at night. I also don't think that we bonded right away, I know alot of people don't like to admit things like that, but it's the truth. I know that I loved her and would do anything for her, but I was still unsure of things....does anyone know what I mean? I kept asking myself what it was supposed to feel like when you bonded with your child....well you really can't know until it happens. I started being able to understand her little sounds and cries, like knowing when she was tired or hungry or just needed to be held.

Now I'm going to brag. My baby sleeps through the night. I know babies sleeping habits can change frequently, but I am enjoying this right now. She started sleeping 6 hours straight while we were in Utah and she gradually made it to 8 hours! Two nights after we got home she slept for 9 hours. How did this happen to me? I feel like I am soooooo blessed! I don't really want to jinx it though, so i'll stop bragging :)

p.s. I didn't take the 2nd set of pictures...my friend Paige did! I didn't want you to think I was taking credit Paige :)

Labor and Delivery

It was two weeks ago today that I have birth to Lily. December 30, 2010 at around 7 in the evening I was laying on the couch with my feet in my dad's lap getting a foot rub....all of a sudden contractions start. YAY! I waited for about an hour to see if they'd keep up, and they did. Every 3-4 minutes I would have one so I called the on call doctor at the hospital and I made sure to tell her that I was 41 weeks pregnant. She told me to come in and get checked! So Ryan and I packed up our stuff and said goodbye to my mom and dad. We told them that we'd let them know when I got admitted so they could head over.

Once we arrived at the hospital we had to fill out some paper work and then I got put into a little room and the nice nurse told me to pee in a cup and change into a gown. Once I did that and laid down on the bed my contractions stopped. OF COURSE. The doctor that was in charge of admitting me decided to check to see if there was enough fluid around Lily...because if there is less than a certain amount they'd admit me and I would have to be induced. Sure enough, with her being a week overdue there wasn't enough fluid around her. They put me in the labor and delivery room to get things started, unfortunately I was having too many contractions for them to start inducing me...so we had to wait. We waited for quite a while. Finally they slowed down to 2 every 10 minutes and they were able to give me some stuff to help me dilate more. It worked! So by the next night around 4pm I was dilated to a 9 1/2. I stayed at a 9 1/2 for about an hour and a half and then the doctor was sick of waiting so she stretched me to a 10. Time to push! I only pushed for 20 minutes and Lily was here! It was exhausting and emotional and amazing. Recovery wasn't as pleasant, it took me about a week to be able to sit down normal. I'm sure you all know what I mean. :) Anyway, being a mom has been the BIGGEST adjustment of my life. Sleepless nights, and having a little person depend on you for everything is something that is new to me. Luckily I have the most amazing husband who gives me time to myself every day even after he's worked for 9 hours. Here are some pictures of the last few weeks! Wow I can't believe she is 3 weeks old already! She has her 1 month appt next week. Time flies!
