All eyes were on Rome to see who would be installed as the Servant of the Servants of God. On the 19th of April 2005, Joseph Alois Ratzinger, Cardinal Bishop of Velletri-Segni, became Pope Benedict XVI.<br /><br />High up the walls of the nave of the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilica_of_Saint_Paul_Outside_the_Walls">Basilica of St. Paul Outside The Walls</a> in Rome, they have portraits of all the different Popes over the years... the many many years... It's a great building, it was a beautiful day and when you look around and take in the scope of the structure you can't help but feel like you've stepped into a part of history.<br /><br />I took loads of photos of The Colosseum that day but this was my favourite, in fact it's one of my favourite photos in general. I just thought it was such a striking sight, looking out to the ground from one of the corridors under the tiers. Three went off on <a href="http://www.tfl.gov.uk/modalpages/2625.aspx">London Underground</a> trains at around 8.50am while another went off approximately an hour later on a <a href="http://www.tfl.gov.uk/modalpages/2605.aspx">bus</a>. In the end 52 people were killed and some 700 were injured.<br /><br />I was over there a month after and the thing to know about London is that it's a pretty pragmatic place.
