Who am I?

This is a tough question to answer, it would be cliché’ to say: "I'm whoever you want me to be." (Wink, wink) However, the bare facts are, I'm a mother of 2, a wife of almost 20 years, a daughter, sister, friend, loud obnoxious cubical partner. (Seriously, we aren't meant to be stuck together, in tiny boxes like this.)

I have a B.S. Degree in Information Technology. And I want nothing more in the world than to be a published author of Urban Fantasy Romance. I was born and raised in a suburb of Salt Lake City, UT. called West Jordan. Where I live, about 2 miles from the home I grew up in. World traveler I am not.

I currently work a full time day job as a Business Analyst which is a fancy term for I work on a computer all day. (boooo, this technical stuff makes my muse cry). Nuff said. One day I will be a full time writer. Until then, I shall slog along at my day job.

So if I'm not working the day job or writing. You will find me reading, which is my greatest pasttime. Unless, my family has kidnapped me! Taken me out of my comfort zone! Away from running water, and a flushing toilet, away from electricity and God forbid Wi-Fi. (It makes no sense to want leave the city!! There are things outside of the city that can kill, and eat you. NO thanks.) Camping, they’ve taken me camping….. (sniff sniff).

Or you might find me cycling, which is my new hobby, even though I tend to crash a lot! My husband calls me crash, but I love it. When I cycle I feel free, my brain and all my characters are quiet, and I can think. After 20 miles or so I am able to internalize my next moves not only in life but in writing as well. I am a true believe that everyone needs this type of release. You just have to find what that release is for you.

I obsessively stalk Twitter, Facebook, and lurk in Yahoo groups rarely making comments. I’m working on that part, wish me luck.

I love music and if I am I ever seen without my iPhone I have been kidnapped by aliens and every action should be taken to retrieve the real me.

What if they don’t have running water, flushing toilets, electricity or…say it isn’t possible Wi-Fi in space??

My Review:
I love this book. At the moment I am in the middle of several stories and this one really stands out. It is your classic tale of forbidden love but presented in a far from "classic" way. As a reader I was definitely entertained by Marcus and Celeste. Of course I knew they would "get together" and it takes a very long time to get to the point that they see their fascination with one another. But eventually they get there. I am used to reading about Angels, mythological characters and even undead characters. But sex demons? Well, that one was entirely new. This book is for adults only. Be warned. Should this book be on your "to be read" list? Absolutely as long as you are an adult. I give this book 4 stars for sure.

I do think it is important to have read the Night Huntress series with Cat and Bones prior to reading the Night Huntress World books. It would help tremendously. Denise is Cat's best friend and falls under Bones' protection as a result. However, she has found herself in a world of trouble with this dangerous demon who needs her help to find some ancient decedent of hers in the undead world. Denise doesn't want to bother Cat and Bones mostly because she doesn't want them to get hurt if she can't find this decendent. She reaches out to Spade. Unbeknownst to Denise - Spade already adores her but has had to stay away for many reasons (if you have read the Night Huntress series it all makes sense). Yet, he decides to help her - and that help means he will help her at all costs. But her time is running out. It is a demon who needs her help and if she doesn't succeed, he will kill her entire family and she will become a full fledged demon. In the meantime, she is slowly developing demon traits and qualities - including her blood is like a drug to vampires. Eventually Bones and Cat learn of the situation (as well as Ian, Mencheres and a few others) and all come to aid. Another 5 star novel by Jeaniene Frost.

Grape Jelly from Grape Juice

I wanted to teach my kids the basics of canning (like I am an expert...) so I started them with this easy recipe for grape jelly. Actually I let them choose what flavor they wanted and they chose grape.

For supplies you need:
Canning Jars (we used 8 oz jars - 9 of them)
Magnet Lid Lifter (helpful but not required)
Jar Lifter
Canning Pot with the canning jar rack
Strainer
Canning Jar Funnel
Additional lids just in case
A large spoon and a ladle

For the recipe you need:
Grape Juice (6 cups - unsweetened)
Sugar (5 cups) - you can use up to 7.5 cups but I wanted a little less
sugar
Sure Jell (2 boxes)

Measure out 4 1/2 cups of sugar into a bowl.

Mix 1/2 cup sugar and the two boxes of Sure Jell in another bowl. Pour grape juice into a pot and boil - once boiling add the Sure Jell/Sugar mixture and keep stirring. Bring to full rolling boil again for one full minute - stirring the entire time to minimize any clumping of the Sure Jell.

While waiting for the grape juice to boil - boil some water for the lids and jars. The jars need to be heated so the glass doesn't crack when the hot grape juice mixture is added to it.

Scoop the very hot grape juice into each jar, one at a time, through the strainer, through the funnel. Add a lid to each jar and twist the cover on tightly. Place into the Canning Pot on the rack, covered with water, and bring to a boil for five minutes. The water should be boiling before you add the jelly - but it will need to return to a full boil.

It will be very hot trying to get the jars in and out of that boiling water - hence the jar lifter tool. Even with that I need gloves to avoid my hands getting burned.

After boiling for five minutes, remove the jars one at a time and place on a towel. Make sure the jars to not touch one another to avoid breakage. Make sure the vaccuum seal on the lids has worked - you test this by pressing in the center of the lid. If it moves up and down - the seal didn't take. If it stays in - it took. If the seal doesn't take you can either leave it as is - the jelly just needs to be refrigerated; or you can transfer the contents to another hot jar and a new lid and try the boiling process again.

I had one that did not vaccuum seal and that is fine since we will just eat that one first.

The jars will need 24 hours to cool and set up - once they are not so hot, move any that did not seal properly to the refrigerator. The others should last up to twelve months. The consistency may change a little between 6-12 months but they are still fine to eat. They are best in texture and taste during the initial 6 months though.

One of the first brands I heard of when it came to Greek Yogurt was Chobani! I have to say I am a real dairy snob and apparently Chobani is too! I will only eat yogurt that is thick and creamy. I was so fortunate to have been given two pairs of these Sun Sleeves to try. I asked for two different sizes - one for me and one for my daughter. I love them and so does she! And since it is a dreary, dismal day outside the colors are not nearly as vibrant as they are actually in print. The photos are perfect and exactly as I would expect them to be in the book.

Have you ever had to struggle with a family member having occasional accidents in bed? I have purchased quite a few in the past - mostly from a local low end department store and they definitely did not stand up to the abuse. They were fine until I had to wash them - then I might get one additional accident out of them. I was spending a fortune. Wearever has several different, much better quality pads to choose from. I was provided with two different styles in exchange for my honest opinion. I chose the economy pad and the quilted plaid pad.

The Economy pad has a quilted topcloth with great absorbency and comfort. Waterproof liner keeps furniture fabrics dry. Great for using in bed at night. Wash and dry hundreds of times. Lower price for those on a tighter budget but not lower quality! Order 2 or 3 for use during laundering.

This beautiful Quilted Plaid pad has a plaid quilted top cloth which looks like an extra throw in your living room. The large 34x36 dimensions and waterproof backing will protect your furniture from wetness. The material is an 80% cotton outer layer with a 20% Unique-Dri™ inner core and it can be machine washed/dried over 200 times!

All bed pads are made with absorbent materials and a waterproof liner to keep furniture and fabrics dry while protecting against wetness. Their selections of incontinence bed pads are perfect for every night mattress use or on household furniture. The Unique-Dri™ inner core and IBEX Cotton Polyester blend incontinence pads are washable and reusable for long lasting lifetime use.

This is a photo of the two I received - a pink economy pad and the plaid pad in deep, dark colors. The pink one is on my sons bed under his sheets. First of all he likes pink - second of all, you can't see it under his sheets anyway. The plaid pad we will bring to the camper this weekend and use on the futon where he sleeps. It is attractive enough that no one will know what it is - no worries. The stitching is excellent and the quality is superb.

#Yonanas - Wonderful Soft Serve Healthy Ice Creams

Have you ever heard of Yonanas? This is Yonanas? It is a machine that basically whips frozen fruit into a healthy ice cream. I have been wanting one of these for some time but kept hemming and hawing trying to figure out if I really "needed" it. You know - I have so many kitchen items that I just gotta have and don't ever use. Now I will tell you the biggest reason most of them don't get used is because of the cleanup involved. I do use my Vitamix quite frequently - and yes I can use that to make this ice cream but the consistency is not quite the same (as I have now discovered). Then, I won an Amazon gift card and let it sit on my account for a while waiting to see if there was something more important that I needed. I finally caved and bought this machine.

My daughter LOVES ice cream. She would eat it breakfast, lunch and supper if she had her way. So occasionally I will make her banana ice cream - which she loves just as much. And how do you do that? Simply blend up frozen bananas in a food processor. The bananas should be frozen when they are very ripe - banana bread type of ripe. Peel them, cut into 1/2 or 1/3rds and freeze. You need nothing else to make the basic ice cream.

Yonanas makes so much more possible! First I will tell you that it doesn't compare to the food processor ice cream. Yonanas whips up the frozen fruit into ice cream that is the smoothest soft serve style ice cream you will ever have the pleasure of tasting.

The unit is all encased so even my eight year old daughter can make her own ice cream.

But that is not all - this was just plain old bananas. But you can make so many different ice cream recipes that are healthy with no guilt whatsoever. Frozen bananas act as the base, then you add whatever other frozen fruit you want. You can even add peanut butter, jelly or whatever. And although I can make this ice cream (although a lot less creamy) with a food processor - my eight year old daughter cannot!
