ALEXA CHUNG’S COMING TO NEW ZEALAND

Well . . . almost!  The famous British ‘It Girl’ is the new face of Agatha Paris and is helping launch the French jewellery brand’s biggest collection of the year in New Zealand next month.

The collection, called  AGAT’you is based on single and double wrap bracelets and slide charms in a huge variety of designs and color combinations.

The bracelets, which feature an oval buckle in sterling silver or gold-plated sterling silver, are available in a wide range of colours and materials: silicone, matt and patent leather, iridescent leather… fluorescent, pastel, black, white, silver, gold and copper shades… in any combination you like!

There are over two hundred cute slide charms to choose from so you can customise your own bracelet and let your imagination run wild. Bracelets start at $61 each and the slide charms start at $46 each!

So when I said Alexa is coming to New Zealand I was stretching it a little bit sorry. What I really meant to say was her cool style and fashion inspiration is heading our way.

NEW TREND: 24K GOLD NAIL BLING

Not a day goes by without some fun new nail news and the latest trend we’ve uncovered is these 24K gold and sterling silver nail jewellery.

Don’t get us wrong we love a bit of nail bling but we’re not sure if we’d spend as much as $400 a piece on these bad boys. The BOHEM collection has just launched in the UK and apparently each nail also comes with its own polishing cloth! Sounds a bit too much like hard work really.

So we’re a bit on the fence with this new trend. Not sure if we love it or hate it.

PLUS-SIZE BLOGGER HITS BACK AT ABERCROMBIE & FITCH’S ‘THIN AND BEAUTIFUL’ POLICY

First it was Ellen DeGeneres hitting out at Abercrombie & Fitch’s controversial ‘thin and beautiful’ customer policy and now a plus-size blogger has addressed the ‘sizeism’ issue in an open letter to the company’s CEO Mike Jefferies, creating a series of mock Abercrombie & Fitch ads, titled Attractive and Fat.

Posing with a male model, blogger Jes M. Baker of The Militant Baker is photographed wearing one of the brand’s U.S. size large logo t-shirts.

‘I challenge the separation of attractive and fat, and I assert that they are compatible regardless of what you believe,’ Miss Baker states in her letter to Mr Jeffries.

She ends by saying: “PS. You should know your Large t-shirt comfortably fits a size 22. You might want to work on that.”

Big ups Jes – we love your style.

Remix magazine recently described Veronica B as: “stunning limited edition pieces with top quality materials and eye-popping styles that are bound to re-emerge as a vintage fave”. We couldn’t agree more.

We hear on the grapevine this dynamic duo is also launching a men’s label called Jacob Stone next month – so watch this space!

STEP-BY-STEP TO SUPER CUTE SPOT-ON NAILS

Shadow dotting looks cool and is surprisingly simple to recreate. Follow this step-by-step guide and fool your friends with a professional looking polish in no time!

WHAT YOU NEED

•  OPI Natural Nail Base coat

•  My Vampire Is Buff

•  Suzi’s Hungary again

•  Dotting tool

•  OPI Top Coat

•  Drip Dry Drying Drops



GET THE LOOK

Above: Prepare the nails for colour with OPI Natural Nail Base Coat, this prevents yellowing on the nails and helps your manicure to last longer. Apply your colours.

Above: Scatter dots across the nails in an alternate colour.

Above: Allow to dry.

Above: Back to your base colour go over the dots with a smaller dotting tool (tip:use a bobby pin and the head of a sewing pin for different sizes) keeping them central helps with the Illusion.

Above: Once dry apply OPI Top Coat in light strokes and Drip Dry Drying Drops which nourishes the cuticles and leaves the nails touch dry in only 3-5 minutes!

CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2013: RED CARPET ROUND-UP

The stars are shining brightly right now in Cannes for the annual Cannes Film Festival. Milla Jovovich, Marion Cotillard and Aishwarya Rai cut a dash on the red carpet at the Blood Ties film premiere. Milla wore Chanel Couture while Marion earnt style points in a strapless Christian Dior number. Elsewhere, Rosario Dawson sent fashion pulses racing in a Elie Saab white sequinned dress, at the As I Lay Dying premiere. Come see all the red carpet looks from Cannes here.
