Nordstroms presents Rachel Zoe 2012 Spring

Celeb stylist Rachel Zoe drops her second collection for Spring of 2012. The line looks good with its very neutral black, white and camel palette however the prices still don't entice me to purchase any of the items. In my opinion the price point could be lower on a lot of the garments. Nordstroms tends to have more "affordable" prices than say a Neiman Marcus or Barney's for what you get however, in the case of RZ, that's just simply NOT the case.

"The next thing I knew, I was there in a swimsuit," Wang told the magazine of her initially modest intentions for the poolside shoot. "The funny thing is that I'm the girl who no one sees at the beach. Ask anyone who's traveled with me. Normally, I'm in so many layers, I look like Lawrence of Arabia."

Even after seeing the finished product, Wang remained humble about her impressive figure.

"I'm a little horrified," she admitted, "But I still love that bustier."

I am definitely guilty of this and reading this makes me feel like crap. In a way I'm happy I keep most of my info. in written form but still, I know in some way I've violated and discriminated without even realizing it. Thanks to CurlyNikki for posting this... this will definitely help me design my future posts and videos.

Youtube has been an invaluable resource throughout my natural hair course. The ladies who take the time to make videos to share with us, all rock in their own special ways.

The only complaint that I have really, is that some don't seem to consider their D/deaf or Hard of Hearing audience. Vloggers, please do not forget your D/deaf audience. There is a massive amount of D/deaf & HOH people all throughout the country, and I am sure many of them are naturals...or wanna be, and can benefit from the information shared within those videos.

Imagine finding a natural hair video on Youtube, that you feel, just by looking at the title that your pressing question may finally be answered. So you click on the video, and once it starts, the Vlogger is speaking so fast you can't possibly rely on lip reading, and there is not a tap of captioning included, highlighting the main points. You're a little disheartened but not to worry, there is always the more info/description box, so you head there and its blank or gives you not a hint as to the break down of that video.

I swear every time I find a video like that it feels like some D/deaf natural is somewhere relaxing her hair in frustration.

Why is this important to me? Because I am a deaf natural & so are some of my friends. I can not tell you how many times I've been faced with the above mentioned scenario. Clear pronunciation, facing the camera when speaking, captions within the video or a detailed description box are treasures to me. Blogger/Vlogger Mae of Natural Chica is a wonderful exemplar of this!

Another option could be that if you have a blog in addition to your Youtube channel, you can briefly summarize your video in a blog post. Nothing major, simply include the title of the video, ingredients & step order if it's a tutorial. If it's a review, tell us whether or not you'd use the product again, and if you'd like, a one or two sentence reasoning. Heck if you don't have a stand alone blog...send the info to me and I'll post it on Curly Hue (giving you full credit of course). Just do something... just don't leave us out.

Created by a PR whiz in LA, curlBOX is a service that requires a monthly fee of probably like $24.99 (they say less than $25) and you receive 5-7 samples of natural (curly) hair products already established as well as new to the market. BRILLIANT! I know I've been hitting up Youtube a whole hell of a lot to try and figure out what works for my grade of hair but this will allow me to try undiscovered products that may just do the trick. My hope is to find something that equates to Sebastian's discontinued 2+1.

First step to going natural is getting your mind right. As a black woman who chats with lots of other black women, the #1 reason many don't go natural and are afraid to starts usually in the mind. The ~~excuses~~ reasons start to flow, "my hair has no curl," "it's not long enough," "I''ll look too ratchtastic" and quite frankly none of those are true.

My decision to go BACK natural (as of yesterday) came when I FINALLY made up in my mind that I was tired of taking care of someone elses head (while sitting on my head). I know the power of the right product, discipline and proper instruction to get your hair looking beautiful and it is the decision that makes the world of difference, a mere choice like everything else.

As I'm growing in age and wisdom, I'm finding more about what's wrong with the beauty industry and the images portrayed AND accepted. I know that if more Black women were educated on the numerous possibilities and truths about that strands that grow out of their own scalp, the America's would be a much more natural place. While I plan to start on my BLACK TO NATURAL journey at the turn of 2012, I will document it here, going much against my blogging policy of putting photos of myself on a blog but hey, my hope is to help encourage other black women to get bold and gain TRUE confidence in themselves and in EVERYTHING they have to offer because at this end of the day, that's all you really got!

Urban Decay Naked Eye Shadow - Swatches for women of color

For the past few weeks, I don't know what happened but I've embarked on this new found LOVE for cosmetics. I mean I've always loved the pages of the latest mag. filled with pretty things to ooh and ahh over, but recently I've actually been moved to BUY these things. A recent purchase was that of the Urban Decay persuasion: the original Naked eyeshadow palette. It came in the mail today and I'm excited to research which colors work best on my skin.

While doing much research on whether or not I should buy this product, I looked for photos online of fellow users and didn't find one review or visual swatch picture of a person with color pigment in their skin which makes it harder for me to know how the colors show up on anything else besides white skin. No diss, I just like to get accurate results and I wasn't able to find any. So, in hopes to help someone else considering whether or not they should buy, hopefully this post will help you some.
