I have recently developed a passion for relatively obscure magazine titles. Beautifully styled and executed these magazines are print at it’s best – every issue feels like a collector’s item. I’ll always pick up my monthly stack of the usual suspects but it’s a true pleasure to find material that strays from the ubiquitous trend mill.

Vibrant, juicy colours are certainly a way to make a strong sartorial impact and we’re seeing the trend worn from top to bottom. I love the statement and admire the fearless look-at-me factor, but day-to-day, I am more likely to stick to one knockout colour per outfit and temper it with neutrals, metallic and maybe wee bit of animal print (pretty much a neutral in my book).

All three were added to my virtual shopping cart and are a welcome addition to my book collection (I never did get around to finishing that book club purchase, whose title shall remain unnamed as it was bo-ring). The children’s book is a lovely story and both the Koda & Rubenstein anthologies are a fab archive of some of the most definitive dresses in fashion. Of course, the In Style title is more celeb & cinema focused, but it’s really interesting to learn the how & why of the dresses were chosen and how they made their mark in fashion history.
