Can't get enough: Elin Kling Style

Well, when it comes to effortless style I have decided that Elin Kling is the queen. Honestly, this girl is a genius at pairing the simplest pieces together and coming out with an epic outfit. I try and emulate her style quite often (skinny jeans and a tucked in button down) and I really admire how she makes everything look chic! Really, even a sweatshirt and ratty jeans look phenomenal on her. Over the past year she has really climbed to the top of my style icons list. I'm thinking now that it's just her and Emmanuelle Alt vying for the top spot.

First Monday Inspiraton of 2012

Hello lovely readers. I am finally back from a long vacation, and numerous late nights of website work. Get ready for the new site, new blog posts, and so much to come this year!
Today I am inspired by these photos...the color red (obsessed right now), flowy dresses and cutoff shorts (its 80 degrees in LA this week...), white furniture, the proenza boys, flowy colorful skirts, LV trunks, cropped pants and sequins.

Obsession of the Moment: Thylane Léna-Rose Blondeau

Not really sure how we just found this 10 year-old model. Apparently she has been making the news for quite some time for posing in very mature manners at such a young age (major makeup and high heels). She is absolutely stunning, she’s been in Vogue Paris and she has already made quite a name for herself in the modeling world. It is scary to think that a model can be so big at the age of 10….a tiny bit scary for her growing up process….but anyways. We love her and really can’t wait to see her progress.

What do you guys think? Is she too young to be posing this way? Or is this just the way that modeling works?

Monday Inspiration

The holidays were amazing….great presents (pottery barn jewelry box, jewels, fashion books, clothes, the most amazing perfect red silk button down and camel coat) amazing family time, endless wine and so much more.
Found pinterest this week (obviously have seen it before, but finally joined). Absolutely love it. It is just an extra source of inspiration. Follow my pinterest here
I’ll be switching the blog over to my point of view in the new year. I want you guys to get to know me a bit more and really see what inspires me and the direction of TheStylist LA.

Trying to remember words like these as the little nit-picky bits of the new website seem to be all consuming. It's so close, but still not quite done. All we ever wanted to do was dress people, not deal with website construction....anywho....we promise it will be done soon and normal blogging will begin again (and maybe some of the social life will resume...)

Hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving...we spent the weekend in the middle of the country, laying by the fire, working on the website, drinking wine and hanging with family. Oh, and eating lots of pie...

Outfit Perfections

Love these looks for the following reasons:

1. That skirt is awesome, and the belt and white blouse are perfect additions. They allow the print of the skirt to stand out perfectly.
2. Leaving for Cabo in 2.5 weeks and loving this swimsuit cover up look. A long plain tank, sleeveless sweater, bright suit and color blocked bag. May be replicating this look for the trip.
3. Half tuck shirt, leather skirt, slicked back hair...so so chic. Miranda is great at pulling off so many different types of looks.
4. Statement necklace and bright, colorful blazer. Taylor accessorizes so well (duh!). And yes, we are uber obsessed with her right now, sorry.
5. Tuula's cropped, printed top is amazing. We want this one super badly. And love the pairing of a long skirt and oversized bag.

Taylor Tomasi Hill's office

Who What Wear partnered with the Coveteur to shoot Taylor Tomasi Hill's office space and we could not possibly be happier with the piece. As we have said many times before, we love seeing where/how some of our favorites get to work, and clearly Taylor is one of our favorites. Here are a few of our favorite photos from the piece. She inspires us so much with her daily outfit choices, we are excited to now see some of the things that inspire her.

Such an incredible weekend styling the Tieks photoshoot in the valley. In case you don't know, (we will be dedicating a post to this soon) Tieks are the most amazing, chic, foldable ballet flats ever created. Seriously, the Gavrielis are genuises....Anyways, this shoot has affected today's inspiration (as we are still delirious and stuck thinking in "editorial" terms.)

Loving, leather cuffs, taylor tomasi hill and the half tucked shirt, super thick eye makeup, tuula in LA, Elin Kling (as always), oversized sequins, and the large studded bag.

So Vogue's Best Dressed Issue will be out November 15th and the Olsen Twins have landed the cover. They are also named the best dressed sisters (obviously). Our personal opinion is that the only two who could even compete are Poppy and Cara Delevigne.....But anyways....we love these shots and honestly cannot wait to pick up this issue and then keep it forever to look back and see how their style has changed.

Styling: Ten Year High School Reunion

You know how much we love styling (of any kind really), so when our friend Amanda from the blog I go You Go asked us to be a part of a styling blogger challenge, we quickly accepted. The goal is to come up with two great looks for a 10 year high school reunion at a local bar. Since this is the type of event that we frequently style women for, we jumped to the challenge.

Here is what we came up with. For a reunion like this we think it is important to portray your individual style and try and stand out a bit (think a pop of color or print that stands out). However, you must wear something that is classy and sophisticated so that your old high school friends don't think you are trying too hard, or attempting to look the way you did 10 years ago...

Each of these items can be purchased at ShopBop (with the exception of TheStylist LA dress in the first look, which can be found on our website.) Keep in mind, we did not think of budget when creating these looks (especially look 2). But, most of these pieces have alternatives that can be found on less expensive sites. If you have trouble finding similar things feel free to email us (info@thestylistla.com) or comment with questions. Our styling process usually starts with creating looks from more quality pieces and then sourcing from less expensive places (a girl can dream to afford it all right??).

She has been looking and dressing so well lately. She went through a transitional phase for a bit, seemed to be a bit in between styles. But lately her outfits have been the perfect mix of tough-girl edge and simple classics. Some of her tried and true outfit tricks are still there (off the shoulder, over sized sweaters, worn in jean shorts and short skirts) but she has changed it up a bit with tougher accessories. And god, her ombre hair is SO good.

2. Tan loose romper with unexpected masculine belt and jacket (also love the color combinations)
3. Miranda in perfect leather shorts and a crisp white top.
