The JL7100 is arguably Jointech's first foray into the subnotebook market, arguably in that it functions more like a PDA than the subnotebook that it appears to be. The unit uses both a processor (ARM9) and an operating system (Windows CE 5.0) that are traditionally found in smaller handheld PDAs. However it borrows heavily (some would say copy outright) from the Asus Eee PC 701's chassis, down to the keycaps on the keyboard.

Inspite of the inferior specs, the JL7100 actually can be suitable as a netbook. Unfortunately WiFi is optional. A newer model, JL7100, reportedly will have built-in WiFi.

The Everex Cloudbook has a uniquely located built-in pointing device (a stamp-sized touchpad) on the upper right side instead of at the bottom of the keyboard as is common for notebooks. The design is intended so it can be held in one hand while typing, or with two hands when using the mouse-cursor control, with the left thumb controlling the two "mouse buttons", and the right thumb the small trackpad.

The Eee PC 900 is Asus' follow-up to its trendsetting Eee PC 700/701 series. It wwas officially launched in Hong Kong on April 16, 2008 for USD513, in the UK on May 1, 2008 for £329 (approximately €410, USD650 including VAT), and in the US on May 12, 2008 for USD549. The Windows XP version launched in Germany and Austria on June 26, 2008.

The Asus Eee PC 900 Linux is one of two available versions. A Windows XP-based version, with 12GB SSD is also available. A related series, the Eee PC 901 has almost similar specs but uses the Intel Atom Diamondville CPU and enhanced connectivity.

The storage is split between two SSD devices – a 4GB SSD installed similarly to that in the 701, and the remainder in a second SSD in the expansion bay.

Aware Electronics (est. 2006) produces the A-BOOK series, which includes the A-View and AW-300 models. The earlier model AW-150 was sold in the USA as the MiTYBOOK.

The A-view is described by Aware as an advanced digital photo frame with PC features. It is similar to and probably the basis for the Elonex ONE. It seems to be the basis of development for the newer AW-300 sub-notebook.
