-Lakewood will be holding their 9th Annual Celebrity Waiter & Auction Benefit. It’s a buffet dinner where the players are waiters and the coaches are bartenders. The tickets are $40 all proceeds go to the ALS Association of Philadelphia. For more info and how to get tickets, you can click here.

-Friday night, May 8th, Lakewood will also have Carl Edwards’ #60 car will be on display at the stadium. I’m not that familiar with NASCAR, but I kind of know who Edwards is. I had my picture taken with Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s car last year. I’m not sure why, but it seemed like a big deal, so I did it. The picture is currently on the front page.

-Brooklyn Cyclone tickets are now on sale. I suggest getting tickets early, because the summer weekend games are packed. It may be favorite minor league park, but we’ll see about that later.

-Good story in today’s New York Daily News about being the Cyclone’s mascot, Sandy the Seagull.

-The Cyclones are also having a great Father’s Day special: you can play catch with your dad. Buy your tickets, and before the game, the two of you can go onto the outfield grass and play catch. Awesome.

-The Somerset Patriots will be holding a wine tasting event, this Friday, May 8th. It’s $40 for Barefoot wines, a buffet and a ticket to the game. Considering the number of wineries in New Jersey, I’m surprised they went with a California based winery.

-Looking for Mother’s Day fun at the park? You’re in luck:

The Lakewood Blue Claws will host Breast Cancer Awareness Day. The Blueclaws will wear pink jerseys that day, which will then be auctioned off after the game. All proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Fund.

The Somerset Patriots will also have Breast Cancer Awareness Day, and will also wear pink jersey that’ll be up for auction. The first 2,000 women in the park will receive pink Patriot hats.

Finally, the Trenton Thunder will do same as the others, but the first 1,000 women will get pink replica jerseys.

I promise to make it up to all of you. There’s going to be so much content, you’re going to wish I was sick again.

Did I mention the Blueclaw game is Bark in the Park day? That means you can bring your dog to the game. Your dog. To a baseball stadium. Will dog attack dog? Do they have to sit in a seat? What if there’s a dog in my seat? Where do they “take care of business”? I just gave you four reasons to follow us on twitter live Saturday afternoon.

I’ll be down in Lambertville this Saturday for the annual SHAD FESTIVAL!!! I’ve never been, I’m not even sure what it’s all about, but I’m going. I may stop in at the Patriots game on Saturday night, but we’ll see how that plays out.

The HUGE review of our trip to see the Connecticut Defenders will be up this weekend. It’ll be the first of our stadium reviews, and we think it’s going to knock your socks off.

-If you want to see some big stars, T-Pain and Flo-Rida will be playing at Campbell’s Field, home of the Camden Riversharks on June 5th. Looks like the stage will be setup around second base, so every seat is going to have a great view, plus tickets are only $35. 

-While we’re on the subject of concerts, the Lakewood BlueClaws are set to announce big concert news on Friday. Don’t know who it is, but you can be among the first to find out by following the BlueClaws on Twitter, or by checking back here at your favorite New Jersey baseball blog on Friday.

-On a side note, one of my favorite basketball players ever, Dikembe Mutombo, suffered a career ending knee injury in last night’s playoff loss to the Blazers. The NBA’s second all time leader in blocks was a 7 time All Star, and always looked like he was having a great time playing the game. He was a great humanitarian as well, donating money to have a hospital built near his hometown of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Who wants praise Mutombo?

-The Atlantic League opens play this Thursday. All three New Jersey teams will be in action, although only one at home. The Camden Riversharks open against the defending champs Somerset Patriots in Bridgewater, while the Newark Bears open on the road against the Lancaster Barnstormers.

-New Jersey native and potential NFL first round pick Knowshon Moreno will be throwing out the first pitch at the Lakewood BlueClaws on Wednesday April 22nd. 

-The Brooklyn Cyclones will be hosting Bellies & Baseball on July 19th for pregnant Moms. They have some great ideas planned for this game, so be sure to check it out. If you give birth to your baby at the game, you and your child will receive free Cyclone season tickets for life. 

-If you were a fan of the now defunct Atlantic City Surf, the Lakewood BlueClaws are offering you an opportunity to change your allegiance. Just bring your Surf baseball cap to any BlueClaws home game this season, and you can trade it in for a Lakewood cap. Not a bad deal.
