Ralph here to let you know what the heck is going on with The Tail End. Last week both Beth and I spent some time on Jay and Jack‘s 30 hour live podcast event for Autism Speaks. As announced by Beth, The Tail End will be ending. I know it sucks, but it is a mutual decision between the both of us. Before you start coming at us with pitchforks and torches, we wanted to let you know that this does not mean that the show is done or that we are not podcasting anymore.

First things first. There are 5 episodes of The Tail End that have been recorded and need to be posted. Once I take care of some technical issues that is preventing the shows from being posted , I will post them here. It won’t be soon, but it will hopefully happen eventually (fingers crossed). Secondly the blog and all the shows will remain active so that you can go back and listen to them whenever you wish.

Even though The Tail End will be going the way of the dodo, that doesn’t mean that you have heard the last of us. Coming sooner than later will be an all new podcast starring Beth and Myself and hopefully many guests. I cannot tell you what the name of that show is, because the title has not been locked down yet, but I can tell you it will be fun and filled with conversations about farts and poos. Would you expect anything less?

Anyway, I would like to thank everyone who has been patient with us and would like to apologize to every last one of you for not sticking to our word on doing the remaining episodes. It was a pretty ambitious endeavor and we wish that we could have completed it. We love LOST and we love you guys. Stay tuned for our final 5 episodes and news on the upcoming podcast.

So here’s the deal. The show is in a bit of a hiatus as you can probably tell. The situation is that we have 3 episode for season 2 completed. I was thinking of posting those shows, but right after those shows went up we would be right back in another hiatus. As you know, Beth and Jorge are in Vancouver and it makes it tough to get recordings done. So I was thinking of holding off posting the 3 episodes until we could do show recordings on a regular basis.

Down time is going to be unavoidable. Let us know what you think in the comments section below and we will keep you updated here.

The Tail End presents the “Create the Flashback and Win the Shirt off her Back Contest!”

As you all know our very own Sidekick22 has been featured as a background extra on LOST, but never had the opportunity to tell her story in flashbacks. That is where you come in! All you have to do is create a backstory for “Roxanne” and write it out in one short and entertaining paragraph. That’s not all!! We also want to see a scene from her flashback. You can chose any artistic medium to depict the flashback, whether it be drawings, paintings, water colors, photoshop…etc. In order to get into the head of “Roxanne”, you must see what her “On Island” story is. To do that you can find her in the following episodes…

As if that wasn’t enough, Beth has mentioned that you may also receive a special surprise gift from Jorge Garcia, the guy who played Hurley on LOST!

• Entries should not be a billion words long: Keep them short, because Ralph has to read some of these and you know how much he dislikes reading.
• Entries should be about “Roxanne” only: The flashback should be about the character Roxanne and should not reflect the real life exploits of Bethany Shady.
• Entries should be fun and not mean spirited: Remember, LOST was rated TV14, so let’s keep the entries in fairly good taste. I know The Tail End may be lewd at times, but we don’t need to go overboard here.

INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO), 2 turns of the pan
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 medium onion, chopped
2 carrots, peeled and thinly sliced
2 ribs celery, chopped
1 small zucchini, sliced
2 cups vegetable or chicken stock
1 can diced tomato (15 ounces)
1 can tomato sauce (15 ounces)
1 can small white beans or cannellini beans (15 ounces)
1 box, cut frozen green beans (10 ounces)
Salt and pepper
1 cup fresh basil, torn or shredded
Grated Parmigiano or Romano, to pass at table
Crusty bread, to pass at the table

PREPARATION
Add EVOO to the pot, 2 turns of the pan. Add garlic and crushed red pepper flakes, stir then stir in the onions, carrots, celery and zucchini. Cook 10 minutes, then add in the stock, tomatoes and beans. Bring soup up to a bubble and season with salt and pepper, to your taste. Simmer 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and wilt the basil into the soup. Ladle up the soup and serve with grated cheese and bread.

The Tail End podcast is going to test a listener hotline. We are not sure that it will be an ongoing feature on the show, but you may get a chance to have your voice heard on the show. Along with the blog, we want the Tail End hotline to be a fun place for people to go and celebrate LOST. Hatred will not be tolerated.  Both Beth and Ralph have a great affinity for LOST and want to make sure that there is love from the listeners as well. We would love to hear what you have to say about each episode of LOST.  If we do play calls, they will all be played at the end of the show after Beth and Ralph have signed off. Due to the nature of the schedule we may receive calls after we have finished recording, so keep in mind that we will most likely not be able to field questions asked in the phone call. If you want to be on the show here are some things to keep in mind before you call.

• Not all calls will be played – To keep the show running time down, we will not be able to play all calls. We apologize in advanced if your call does not get played.
