Designed by computer bigwigs ASUS and Intel, the ASUS EEE PC is currently among the top ten best selling notebooks. This sub notebook is one of the lightest and smallest notebooks ever created only weighing two pounds and not even bigger than a hard-bound book. Another pop-factor of this notebook is its affordability. When it was released, the initial costs were around $199, making it ring a bell for those who wanted to have their own laptop but lack a few bucks to spend.

The only drawback during its release was its Linux Based OS which makes new users experience a culture shock upon using the notebook. ASUS soon fixed the problem by having a licensed Windows XP OS making the users feel at home and comfortable while using their very own handy-gadget. And of course, with this licensed OS, the price increased to a range of $300-$500. The memory drive varies from 4 GB to 20 GB depending on your choice, as well as the RAM which ranges from 512 MB to 2 GB.

Aside from these varied choices which one can make before buying the ASUS EEE PC, it has many other features which are also nice to look at. It has 0.3 megapixel integrated camera which can be used as a webcam or a video capturing device at 30 fps. It has three USB ports which means you can also install your own optical mouse and add in a couple of flash disks for added memory.

The sub notebooks WIFI connectivity is also a great factor why many people tend to buy it. They can carry it anywhere they want without any hassle of bringing bags or sleeves for the laptop. Where there is a hotspot, they can easily put this notebook out and do whatever they want.

The ASUS EEE PC is worth the price at about three hundred bucks most especially for those who have limited cash to buy a notebook. Surely, more and more people will come to buy it before the year ends and undoubtedly, ASUS will reach their goal of selling about two-million units since its release.

Not many people nowadays buy new software often. Many companies now supplied by ads on web-based applications such as Google Docs and the hundreds of applications on Facebook can afford to give away programs for free. This deal won’t be found when looking for cool applications for the iPhone. Apple will launch its highly anticipated iPhone App Store on July 11. Word is that it will be quite expensive.

There will tons of games and utilities for you and other customers to be happy about but they will come at a price. An example is with Popcap Games. They plan to charge $9.99 for Bejeweled, one of their most popular puzzle games. There are however some developers who plan to offer their applications for free. Buzzd, a newcomer in the developer business, says that it will give away its GPS-enabled program for free. This program will be able to tell you what movies or other events are in you area and more. Buzzd says that instead of charging their customers they will instead make money off of small ads that will flash on the iPhone screen.
Some may ask: Why can’t all iPhone applications be free? Well, people are still willing to pay for them. Apple is currently generating most of its revenue from selling items such as MacBooks or songs on iTunes. Also, the approach to pay for mobile ringtones, games and videos has been used for a long time by companies such as Verizon. Buyers are also more willing to spend because of the Apple branding on the product.
Another reason for charging up front is so that more developers will want to develop for the iPhone. When people know that they will make money directly instead of possible through ads it gives them an incentive to develop applications. This may force customers to pay for programs that they won’t use very often but it makes the iPhone App Store much more attractive to developers. When wireless carriers control the pricing of applications as well as the selection what normally happens is that developers make no more than 40% of the money made. Apple has decided to give the application makers 70% of all sales. Companies say it isn’t worth risking their product to using advertisements as the money made in that area is not big, only $500 million in the U.S. This can be compared to online advertising which made $21 billion.
There is hope for people wanting to get wireless phone applications for free. The first handsets running Google’s Android operating system are to go on sale later this year from T-Mobile. There isn’t much known about the pricing so far but many developers expect the widgets which will run on it to be free. The strong point of Google is its’ advertising. Google is also known for offering many great things for free.

If Apple ever decides to make all iPhone applications free then it would be a huge change in the way it does business. It is assumed that consumers will gladly take this in but developers might be a bit angry. Lets only hope that prices don’t go up or we may find our iPhone application itch unscratched.

Have you ever wanted to have the ability to turn invisible whenever you wanted? In science fiction this is possible but it might become a reality someday soon. While this technology seems far-fetched it is seemingly not impossible to do according to various scientists. Scientist teams from around the globe are having promising results. This research could very well make things invisible in the near future. While it is currently unclear whether large objects such as cars will be able to become invisible, all scientists working on this phenomenon agree that dust particles and other small objects will be able to be turned invisible.

A mathematician at the University of Utah, Graeme Milton, says that theoretically the only thing that is needed to turn something invisible is something called a superlens. John Pendry, a Physicist, first proposed a superlens in 2000 at Imperial College London.

Light that hits a superlens reverses and goes in the opposite direction. This causes light that bounces off of the object to cancel out with the light bouncing off the superlens. This is caused because a superlens has a negative refractive index. At a certain distance this causes the object to appear invisible. It is similar to noise cancellation in earphones.

Milton says that this only works in numbers currently. There is however a theoretical that shows that particle collections become invisible. He also says that he doesn’t think that this will ever be possible on something large scale such as a truck.

A Princeton University physics professor, David Huse, argues that even though an opaque lens such as a superlens might hide the object it might itself be visible. A superlens can correspond to space folded back on itself thus it would be invisible too, says Milton. Very thin silver or gold will probably be able to do this.

David Smith and his associates are also showing some promise. They are working on a sort of metamaterial and have so far succeeded in turning certain types of light invisible. A device with metamaterials that was built by David Smith can turn 3-centimeter light waves invisible. However, there are flaws with this technique. Someone looking at something made invisible by this device would see shadowing and distortion as well as reflection. This hasn’t stopped David Smith and his team as they are now developing something much more complicated that should solve this issue. This research has also shown that sound could be blocked using this technique.

A device such as this could allow antennas to cloak from one another so that cell phone and radio interference will be a thing of the past. Signals will be able to travel more clearly and over further distances. It is said that even with its limitations this could be very useful.

Smith is more optimistic than Milton about turning large objects such as trucks invisible. Smith says that in principle this is possible but that no one knows how to do this yet.

Milton is also working on another project besides the cloaking one. This one is supposedly “something similar to a force field in ‘Star Trek.’”
So be careful what you are doing. Who knows, maybe soon there will be invisible people watching our every move. Maybe that is a bit paranoid but in the future almost anything is possible.

Are you in the market for a new computer, but whenever you look in the sale paper, you really only look at the price and completely disregard all the specs, because it looks like gibberish to you? Well, don’t worry about it, because The Tech Bros are here to help, and translate it into plain English. I’ve decided to start a new series, and take it word by word and explain what everything means and what you really need for your personal uses. To starts the series off, I’m obviously starting with discussing how much RAM you really need .

First of all, before you can figure out how much RAM is right for your needs, you must first know what it is. RAM is short for Random Access Memory, and it is basically how much memory your computer has. Many people get confused and think that this is how much storage space you have, which is wrong. You’re computer’s memory has nothing to do with storage space. That is a completely different piece of hardware that will be explained later on in the series. Your computer’s RAM does many things to make your job easier. When you open up a program on your computer, that program uses your RAM so that it an run properly. The more RAM that your computer has, the more programs that will can run smoothly at any given point of time. Now, if you’re just using this as your personal home computer, then you don’t really need a lot.

I remember when I used to have an eMachines desktop running Windows 98 and only had 64 MB (Megabytes) of RAM. That was many moons ago, however, and today RAM is mainly measured in GB (Gigabytes). The average new computer today has about 1 to 3 GB of RAM already in them, and you can always add more later on if you want.

Running the latest software is going to take more RAM than it used to, so thats why computer manufacturers have put more RAM in computers since the 64 MB days. However if you are using the computer for you own personal use, I would highly recomend 2 GB as a good amount that should last a while.

I hope this cleared up any confusion that may have been caused by the gibberish contained in the specs on new computers. I will continue this series, so stay tuned for when the next update arrives.

Since Apple officially announced their development of the Third Generation iPhone (3g iPhone) earlier this year, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding this most recent release. The release date for the new iPhone has been set for July 11. The new iPhone has improved it’s features with specs like, faster internet browsing, work email, and a whole GPS system in the palm of your hand. To my surprise, the 3g iPhone, has also come out with a new price tag of only $199 (as opposed to the $600 price tag of the original iPhone). If you’ve been looking for an iPhone, then you’ll want to get to an Apple store early, because they are expected to sell out on the day of release.

What more could you really want? A brand new iPhone with awesome new specs at only a fraction of the price of the original. Now all we need is for Apple to expand to more mobile services providers.

419 scams are on the rise in today’s society, and I’ve decided to go ahead and write this article in hopes to inform individuals so that you won’t become just another statistic.

Have you ever gotten an email from someone that claimed to be ill, and needed help financially? Have you ever gotten an email from someone telling you that they had inherited a million dollars, but they couldn’t get to it because they needed money for some sort of fees? Have you ever met someone on a personals/dating site that asked you to send them money via Western Union? These are common cases of 419 scams. No matter what story line they give you, the end result will pretty much contain something along the lines of them needing you to send them money, and, in return, you will get a large payout from it. These scammers make off with hundreds of thousands of dollars per year, but the sad part is that it’s almost impossible to catch them.

The name "419" originated from a relevant section of the Criminal Code Of Nigeria, because a large majority of these scam emails are sent from internet cafes in Nigeria. Recently, scammers have expanded the areas that they use to send the emails to regions such as: Spain, England, Russia, and Europe. Although the emails are received in the U.S., scammers find that it is too risky to send the emails from the U.S., because it can be tracked back to them.

Innocent Americans are becoming victims to these scams, and one purpose of this blog is to keep you safe in today’s rapid growing IT industry. I hope that you not only, learn from this article, and ones like this, but that you also share the knowledge with other people that you know, so that they too can receive the knowledge and know how to stay safe in today’s technologically advanced world.
