Hello Sauderites!

The Awards Night and Recognition Committee serve to recognize individuals with significant contributions to the Commerce Undergraduate Society. Do you want to go to CUS club events for free as an evaluator? Want to have a say in determining the Top Club Award and the Teaching Excellence Award? Have you dreamed of organizing a gala event to recognize all the fellow students who have contributed to make Sauder such a great place to be?

If you answered yes to the above questions, then you should definitely consider applying for the Awards Night and Recognitions Committee.

Positions Available

Recognitions Coordinator
–Manage the evaluation of Top Club Award and the Teaching Excellence Award (joint duties)
–Responsible for aiding the ANRC in determining how the Top Club and Teaching Excellence awards will be evaluated and selected.

VP Marketing
–Work with ANRC/Entertainment Coordinator to oversee production of visual media, AV, promotional material and invitations for Awards Night

General Responsibilities for all committee members:

–Going to club events and evaluating their performance, the degree of student attendance and satisfaction.
–Develop clear guidelines on how the Top Club and Teaching Excellence Awards will be evaluated.
–Conducting surveys and issuing evaluations for students to complete as research in making recommendations for who the winners are.
–Determine a venue, event schedule, event theme and decorations
–Decide upon the service award levels, the appearance of awards and how many are distributed
–Order and ensure the punctual preparation of awards
–Facilitate in the overall execution of the Awards Night, take on miscellaneous tasks to ensure event success

What skills/attributes do I need?

–Dedication, enthusiasm, time commitment and diligence
–Solid decision-making skills and organizational skills
–creativity and team-oriented
–Website design, AV, design (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign), or video production skills a definite asset
–Previous involvement with Awards Night or event coordination can be an asset as well

What will I get out of it?

–The chance to get involved in the CUS by attending club events for free and evaluating their performance
–A voice in determining how the top two awards are evaluated
–The chance to get involved in the CUS by assessing professor performance and reflecting student body opinion
–An opportunity to meet new people by participating in an interactive committee
–Experience in decision making and event coordination
–An opportunity to be a part of creating one of the most unforgettable nights of 2011
–Making amazing memories with an amazing team!!

Hey Sauderites!

This is a friendly reminder to students that want to order business cards for networking and recruiting purposes in September.

In order to guarantee that your cards will be available for recruiting activities that take place mid-September, your order must be submitted online no later than September 1st, 2010.

Orders take at least one week to process. If your order is placed after September 1st, there is no guarantee that they will be ready in time for the various recruiting activities.

The UBC International Business Club, one of the largest academic clubs on campus, in collaboration with the Pacific Northwest Economic Conference, is excited to bring to you its Second Annual First Year Event: INCEPTION 2010. Open to ALL faculties.

Insiders 3.0!

Here at Insiders central, if there’s one thing we’re good at, it’s leaving old websites in our wake.

First there was Insiders 1.0. No joke, it was pretty awesome. It gave everyone a great outlet to talk about issues, occasionally flame each other, but most of all to learn about the issues of the day.

About a year ago, Insiders got some new editors and moved away from the dinosaur known as blogspot to these swanky new WordPress digs as part of UBC Blogs (back when it was a more exclusive club). It may have been slightly aesthetically lacking but the core was based on some really kick-ass stories.

This is one final post to announce the creation of www.ubcinsiders.ca, AKA “UBC Insiders 3.0″ where we now live and have discovered the that using pictures is a good thing. We’re excited and hope you’ll continue to visit us there.
