It is an adaptation of the Boeke Prize-winning and Commonwealth Writers' Prize-nominated novel Q & A by Indian author and diplomat Vikas Swarup. Slumdog Millionaire was nominated for ten Academy Awards in 2009 and won eight, the most for any film of 2008, including Best Picture and Best Director. It also won five Critics' Choice Awards, four Golden Globes, and seven BAFTA Awards, including Best Film. Despite the film's success, it is the subject of controversy concerning its portrayals of Indians and Hinduism as well as the welfare of its child actors.

Set in 2006, the film opens with a police inspector (Irrfan Khan) in Mumbai, India, interrogating and torturing Jamal Malik (Dev Patel), a former street child from the Dharavi slums. In the opening scene, a title card is presented: "Jamal Malik is one question away from winning 20 million rupees. How did he do it? A) He cheated, B) He's lucky, C) He's a genius, D) It is written." At the end of the film, the answer is given. Jamal is a contestant on the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? hosted by Prem Kumar (Anil Kapoor). Jamal has made it to the final question, scheduled for the next day, but the police are now accusing him of cheating, because the other possibilities, that he has a vast knowledge, or that he is very lucky, both seem unlikely. Jamal then explains that, while at least the question about Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan was very simple, he knew the answers of most questions by chance, because of things that happened in his life. This is conveyed in a series of flashbacks documenting the particulars of his childhood. This includes scenes of him obtaining Bachchan's autograph, the death of his mother during Hindu-Muslim riots in the slums, and how he and his brother Salim befriend Latika. The children are eventually discovered by Maman (Ankur Vikal) while they live in the trash heaps. Maman is a gangster who "collects" street children so that he can ultimately train them to beg for money. Salim is groomed to become a part of Maman’s operation and is asked to bring Jamal to Maman in order to be blinded. Salim rebels against Maman to protect his brother, and the three children try to escape, but only Salim and Jamal are successful as Salim purposely lets go of Latika's hand as she tries to board a train they are hopping while trying to escape. Latika is re-captured by Maman's organization and raised as a culturally talented prostitute whose virginity will fetch a high price. The brothers eke out a living, traveling on top of trains, selling goods, pretending to be tour guides at the Taj Mahal, and picking pockets. Jamal eventually insists that they return to Mumbai since he wishes to locate Latika. When he finds her working as a dancer in a brothel, the brothers attempt to rescue her, but Maman intrudes, and in the resulting conflict Salim draws a gun and kills Maman. Salim then uses the fact that he killed Maman to obtain a job with Javed (Mahesh Manjrekar), a rival crime lord. Salim claims Latika as his own and when Jamal protests, Salim threatens to kill him and Latika intervenes, accepting her fate with Salim and breaking Jamal's heart.

Years later, Jamal has a position as a "tea-boy" at a call centre. When he is asked to cover for a co-worker for a couple of minutes, he searches the database for Salim and Latika. He gets in touch with Salim, who has become a high-ranking lieutenant in Javed’s organization. Jamal confronts a regretful Salim on tense terms. Salim invites Jamal to live with him and, after following Salim to Javed's house, he sees Latika living there. He talks his way in as the new dishwasher and tries to convince Latika to leave. She rebuffs his advances, but he promises to be at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station every day at five p.m. for her. She tries to discourage him, but on the first day that Jamal waits there, Latika attempts to rendezvous with him, but is recaptured by Salim and Javed's men. One of the men then slashes her cheek with a knife, scarring her as Salim drives off, leaving Jamal with the onlooking crowd. Jamal again loses contact with Latika when Javed moves to another house. In another attempt to find Latika, Jamal tries out for the popular game show because he knows that she will be watching. He makes it to the final question, despite the hostile attitude of the host who feeds Jamal a wrong answer during a break. At the end of the show, Jamal has one question left to win two crore, or 20 million rupees and is taken into police custody, where he is tortured as the police attempt to learn how Jamal, a simple "slumdog," could know the answers to so many questions. After Jamal tells his whole story, explaining how his life experiences coincidentally enabled him to know the answer to each question, the police inspector calls Jamal's explanation "bizarrely plausible" and, knowing he's not in it for the money, allows him to return to the show for the final question. At Javed's safehouse, Latika watches the news coverage of Jamal's miraculous run on the show. Salim gives Latika his phone, and the keys to his car, and urges her to run away. When Jamal uses his Phone-A-Friend lifeline to call Salim, Latika answers his phone and they reconnect. She does not know the answer to the final question either but, believing that "it is written", she tells Jamal in unsubtitled Hindi, "I'm yours" right before the phone connection is cut. Jamal guesses the correct answer to the question of the one Musketeer whose name they never learned, and wins the grand prize. Simultaneously, Salim is discovered to have helped Latika escape and allows himself to be killed in a bathtub full of money after shooting and killing Javed. Salim's last words are "God is great." Later that night, Jamal and Latika meet at the railway station and they share a kiss. It is then revealed that the correct answer to the opening question is: D) it is written.

Thank You

Billu Barber

Billu Barber, is a 2009 Bollywood film by the director Priyadarshan, produced by Gauri Khan, with an adapted screenplay by Manisha Korde and Mushtaq Sheikh based on the script by Sreenivasan. It stars Irrfan Khan, Lara Dutta, and Shahrukh Khan, and features Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani in supporting roles. Actresses Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra make guest appearances in item numbers. The film was released on February 13, 2009. It is a remake of the 2007 Indian film in the Malayalam language, Kadha Parayumbol.

Bilas Rao Pardesi (Irrfan Khan), nicknamed Billu, is a barber in Budbuda, a fictional village in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. He and his wife Bindiya (Lara Dutta) and their children Gunja (Mitali Mayakar) and Duggu (Pratik Dalvi) live in poverty, with Billu unable to even pay his children's school tuition. A man of pride and humility, he refuses to borrow money from local landlord Daamchand (Om Puri).

When Bollywood superstar Sahir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) comes to this village to shoot his latest film, Billu's family, who believe that Khan is an old friend of Billu, pester Billu for an introduction. Gradually the news spreads and soon the whole village is after him for some chance of a meeting with Khan. The school even says it will pay Billu's children's tuition through 12th grade in return for Billu inviting Khan to a school function. Daamchand decides to finance new chairs, new equipment and new toileteries for Billu's Saloon in return for Billu inviting Sahir to Daamchand's place for dinner. Laakhu (Rajpal Yadav) wants a meeting with Khan to be given a chance to compose lyrics for films. Despite Billu's efforts at turning people away, telling his family privately that Sahir Khan would never remember him, Billu finds himself pushed to make contact — and is met with either stern rebukes by Khan's secretary or security forces. When a riot breaks out at the filming location, Billu is arrested for fooling people.

When the school function occurs, Khan, asked by local functionaries, does indeed appear. He announces his struggle in life and claims he owes his career to a childhood friend named Billu. In an emotional speech, he describes the friendship in detail, and bemoans having lost track of Billu when Billu moved away from their hometown. Learning that his childhood friend now lives right here, Khan visits Billu's house and promises to keep in touch and to live their lives together again. Billu again becomes the hero of the village.

Thank You

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a 2008 film in a modern setting loosely adapted from the 1922 short story of the same name written by F. produced under the Geetha Arts banner by Allu Araving. The film was a remake of its tamil film of the same name, which was also directed by Muragadoss. The original film was adapted from critically accalimed Hollywood psychological thriller Memento, directed by Christopher Nolan. It starred Aamir Khan and Hindi debutant Asin Thottumkal as the lead pair with Jiah Khan, Pradeep Rawat and Riyaz Khan essaying supporting roles.

The film is a romantic action thriller that explores the life of a once-rich businessman who suffers from anterograde Amnesia following a violent encounter. With the aid of polaroid images an permanant tattoos on his torso, the businessman single-handedly tries to avenge the murder of his vivacious model girlfriend, Kalpana, who was killed shortly before he was also attacked leading to his diagnosis of amnesia.

Sanjay Singhania (Aamir Khan), is a rich businessman who owns a cellular phone company named Air Voice. Kalpana (Asin Tottumkal), an advertisement model goes around telling her advertisement crew that she is the love interest of Sanjay, in spite of her having never met him and also goes to the extent of giving an interview about her relationship to a popular magazine. Sanjay happens to hear about this through the media and wants to settle scores with her. On his way, he catches a fleeting glimpse of a young woman helping handicapped children cross a street. It is love at first sight for Sanjay. He moves on to confront Kalpana at her advertisement studio. He is pleasantly surprised to realize that she is the same helpful woman he saw a while ago. He chooses to hide the fact from her that he is Sanjay, calling himself as Sachin. Kalpana eventually falls in love with him.

Once, while on a train to Mumbai, Kalpana saves a group of young girls from abuse by a group of goons led by GHAJINI (Pradeep Rawat). After a few days, the same goons come to Kalpana's house in order to avenge their embarrassment. Incidentally, Sanjay arrives at the scene and finds Kalpana is murdered. The irony showcased is that Kalpana never finds out that he is Sanjay. Ghajini then strikes the downcast Sanjay on his head severely with a metal rod. Sanjay survives the blow, but acquires anterograde amnesia because of the trauma of his brain injury. At any given time, he does not remember anything that happened more than 15 minutes back, although he frequently has flashbacks of Kalpana's murder. He determines to take revenge on those responsible for Kalpana's death. The rest of the story is about how Sanjay, along with a medical college student Sunita (Jiah Khan), goes about finding Ghajini and the goons.

Thank You

Rab ne bana di Jodi

<img style="float:left; Taani (Anushka Sharma) is an extroverted, flamboyant, fun-loving, vivacious, dreamer set to get married to the guy she loves. Unforeseen circumstances, however, forces Taani to get married to Surinder and Taani finds herself in a love-less, routine life due in part to the large difference in their age and personalities. To escape her mundane marital life, Taani learns dancing and wants to participate in a dance competition, a reality show called "Dancing Jodi". Surinder wants to make his wife happy and supports her. He then, with the help of his childhood friend Balwinder Khosla 'Bobby' (Vinay Pathak), metamorphoses into an alternate persona, named Raj who is a quick witted, outspoken, smart, dashing, fun loving person who fortunately becomes Taani's partner in the competition.Taani, not able to recognize that Raj is the same one with whom she is married to, eventually starts to feel that Raj's personality and nature are more in tune with what she is comfortable with. Raj expresses his love for Taani and then they plan to elope from Amritsar on the night of the dancing competition. Surinder doesn't tell the truth to Taani because he wants to find out with whom Taani is really in love with. In the morning of the competition, Tanni realizes that her true love is Surinder and not Raj. She denies Raj"s feelings and tells him the truth. And at last Surinder presents his reality to her. Hence the story ends merrily.

The Soundtrack of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was released on November 6, 2008. On meeting them, he realizes that they are two individuals who are completely opposite to each other, which makes his task all the more difficult.

Deven Yuvvraaj is an easy cool guy for whom life begins with himself and ends with his love Anushka. A quarrel with his father was reason enough for him to leave home and live as a struggling singer. Devoid of family values he is forced to journey through the circle of love for the sake of money to complete his love story. And as he journeys he softens into a likeable and lovable character. Gyanesh Yuvvraaj is the centerpiece of all action. An autistic savant, he is completely removed from the idea of money and therefore his enormous inheritance has no impact on him. All he wants is love. He withers without it. By some stroke of destiny he has a genius disorder. Since childhood he was brilliant in all aspects of music. He enters Deven’s world of music and effortlessly becomes the superstar that Deven dreamt of being. Danny Yuvvraaj is the real prince who lived life super-large. A passion for flying kept him floating on an air-cushion filled with his father’s money. A playboy and a brat he was sure that the inheritance would be his. Unable to deal with the loss of his playground (as casinos and clubs threw him out) he strikes at Gyanesh in an attempt to get back what he thought was rightfully his.Anushka is a beautiful, angelic girl passionately in love with her cello and Deven. A girl of very high values she refuses to marry Deven unless her father accepts him willingly.

Sound Tracks of Yuvvraaj:

Song Singer Duration
Main Hoon Yuvvraaj Salman Khan 1:13
Tu Meri Dost Hai Benny Dayal, Shreya Ghoshal & It features Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson, and Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater, two members of different social classes who fall in love aboard the ill-fated 1912 maiden voyage of the ship. The main characters and the central love story are fictional, but some supporting characters are based on real historical figures. Gloria Stuart plays the elderly Rose, who narrates the film in a modern day framing device. Production of the film began in 1995, when Cameron shot footage of the real wreck of the RMS Titanic. He envisioned the love story as a means to engage the audience with the real-life tragedy. Shooting took place at the Akademik Mstislav Keldysh for the modern scenes, and a reconstruction of the ship was built at Playas de Rosarito, Baja California. Cameron also used scale models and computer-generated imagery to recreate the sinking of the ship. Titanic became at the time the most expensive film ever made, costing approximately US$200 million with funding from Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox. Originally slated to be released on July 2, 1997, post-production delays pushed back the film's release date to December 19, 1997. After word broke out that Titanic's release date was pushed back, the press believed that Titanic would fail and cause the downfall of Fox and Paramount. Despite low expectations, the film was both a major critical and commercial success, winning eleven Academy Awards including Best Picture and becoming the highest-grossing film of all time, with a total worldwide gross of approximately $1.8 billion.

Filming Titanic was an arduous experience for all involved. The schedule was intended to last 138 days but grew to 160—twenty days shy of six months. Many cast members came down with colds, flu, or kidney infections after spending hours in cold water, including Kate Winslet. Several left and three stuntmen broke their bones, but the Screen Actors Guild decided, following an investigation, that nothing was inherently unsafe about the set. Cameron never apologized for running his sets like a military campaign, although he admitted, "I'm demanding, and I'm demanding on my crew. In terms of being kind of militaresque, I think there's an element of that in dealing with thousands of extras and big logistics and keeping people safe. I think you have to have a fairly strict methodology in dealing with a large number of people." After almost drowning, chipping an elbow bone, and getting the flu, Winslet decided she would not work with Cameron again unless she earned "a lot of money." Of course, Titanic's central aspect is the love story between Jack and Rose, and the crush it has on Cal. The romantic story isn't original, but this is not a bad thing. Cameron re-invents the story to fit the time period and its characters. Everything fits perfectly, with nothing ever seeming contrived or awkward. Jack's immediate interest in Rose, and Rose likewise, is completely understandable. She is suffering emotionally, and Jack is there to support her. Themes from Romeo and Juliet are included, such as Rose being an upper-classman, and Jack being lower class. But the emotional connection between Rose and Jack is almost palpable, and this fuels the film's first two hours. We watch the trials of Jack and Rose, and as they overcome them, the ship comes closer to destiny. With a ship as large as the Titanic was, it was destined to crash. And of course, the ship isn't stocked with enough lifeboats to accommodate the 2,200 passengers. In the end, over 700 people survive, while the rest drown, freeze, or commit suicide.

Titanic is rated PG-13 for disaster related peril and violence, nudity, sensuality, and brief language. The nudity is not inappropriate, as it is done tastefully. Winslet appears topless, but Cameron never exploits the nudity. If we do manage to see her topless, it is not because Cameron wanted to, but because the camera happened to be there. Titanic is a grand epic motion picture which is sure to sweep the Oscars. This is the first film since Schindler's List that I have wanted to win Best Picture, and has a good chance at doing it.

Titanic is by far the best film of the year. Titanic will be remembered as an instant classic, going down in history as the most expensive film ever made, but also as one of the best films ever made. Titanic received steady attendance after opening in North America on Friday, December 19, 1997. By Sunday that same weekend, theaters were beginning to sell out. The film debuted with $8,658,814 on its opening day and $28,638,131 over the opening weekend from 2,674 theaters, averaging to about $10,710 per venue, and ranking #1 at the box office, ahead of Tomorrow Never Dies. By New Year's Day, Titanic had increased in popularity and theaters continued selling out. Its biggest single day took place on Valentine's Day 1998, making over $13 million on that day, more than six weeks after it debuted in North America. After it was released, it stayed at #1 for 15 consecutive weeks in the U.S. box office, an undefeated record 1998 US box office. By March 1998, it was the first film to earn more than $1 billion worldwide.[31] Some theaters in Australia, India, and South Africa ran it for more than one year. The movie stayed in theaters in North America for more than nine months before finally closing on Thursday October 1, 1998 with a final domestic gross of $600,788,188, and making more than double that amount overseas with an international gross of $1,248,025,607. The film accumulated a grand total of $1,848,813,795 worldwide, and to this day Titanic retains the record as the most successful box office film in history.

Thank You

The Birth of Film

The history of film spans over a hundred years, from the latter part of the 19th Century to the beginning of the 21st Century. The first known celluloid film recorded.

In 1878, under the sponsorship of Leland Stanford, Eadweard Muybridge successfully photographed a horse named "Occident" in fast motion using a series of 12 stereoscopic cameras. The first experience successfully took place on June 11 at the Palo Alto farm in California with the press present. The cameras were arranged along a track parallel to the horse's, and each of the camera shutters was controlled by a trip wire which was triggered by the horse's hooves. They were 21 inches apart to cover the 20 feet taken by the horse stride, taking pictures at one thousandth of a second.

The second experimental film, Roundhay Garden Scene, filmed by Louis Le Prince on October 14th,1888 in Roundhay, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England is generally recognized as the earliest surviving motion picture.

The movies of the time were seen mostly via temporary storefront spaces and traveling exhibitors or as acts in vaudeville programs. A film could be under a minute long and would usually present a single scene, authentic or staged, of everyday life, a public event, a sporting event or Slapstick. There was little to no cinematic technique: no editing and usually no camera movement, and flat, stagey compositions. But the novelty of realistically moving photographs was enough for a motion picture industry to mushroom before the end of the century, in countries around the world.

The story of Krazzy 4 is based on the life of these four crazzy guys which is somewhat similar to the previous comedy flicks like Dhol and Dhamaal. Shahrukh Khan and Hritik Roshan are also doing two item numbers in the film. But the music of Krazzy 4 doesn’t look to be catchy enough like the earlier films of Rakesh Roshan which used to be the plus point of his movies. The music of the film is composed by Rajesh Roshan.

<table border="10" cellpadding="10" Originally expected to commence shooting for the film in Dubai on a forty day schedule, the cast shot for the film in Goa a twenty day schedule. Shooting later continued in places like the Filmistan Studios in Mumbai, South Africa and Bangkok.

Summary

Gopal (Ajay Devgan), who lives with his wife Ekta (Kareena Kapoor), sister Esha (Amrita Arora) and a dumb brother-in-law Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), gets stuck in a yacht one night after he saves an attractive young woman Meera (Celina Jaitley) from the dreaded goons, while on his way back home from office. Due to the circumstances, both of them stay back on the yacht. When he arrives home the next day, his over suspicious wife Ekta, a hard core saas-bahu serial’s fan, suspects him of flirting around with his girl staffs.

Gopal thinks that it’s difficult to convince her by telling her about the incident that actually took place the prior night and hence, he invents a story about spending the night with a fictitious friend named Anthony Gonsalves. Ekta does not believe his story as she knows that he never had a friend by that name, and hence, she decides to write to Anthony to come and visit her. Gopal convinces his junior at work, Laxman [Shreyas Talpade], to pretend to be Anthony. Everything goes according to plan till the real Anthony turns up. If that isn't complication enough for Gopal, a dead body is discovered at the location where he had saved Meera. The Investigating Officer, Madhav [Arshad Warsi], who is Esha's boyfriend and also who cannot stand the sight of Gopal, learns that the latter had been missing from home that eventful night and begins checking on him.

Writer Yunus Sajawal takes an interesting premise, but instead of upgrading it, only downgrades it with lacklustre situations. The writing is so weak, so lifeless that after a point you sit motionless, looking at the goings-on mechanically, instead of being a participant.

A few sequences do entertain you, but they're few and far between. Not enough to camouflage the defects. In view of the fact that the writing is so weak, there's not much that director Rohit Shetty can do to save the ship from sinking. However, the dialogues are howlarious. Music is not as inspiring. 'Tha Karke' is the best track, while 'Tu Saala' [well promoted] isn't there in the film and 'Meow' comes during the end credits.
