Write a song today. Try it. What else you gonna do today that is as exciting as writing your own song. Go in the kitchen. Get out all the pots and pans. Grab the spoons and make some noise. Get that old guitar out of the basement and put some new strings on it.

Sing like you have not since High School. See if you can even sing in tune any more. Sing from your heart. Play like you got some damn soul left in ya.

Write a song today. I know you can do it. It will probably make today one of the most memorable and special days you have had in a long time. Be creative. Just do it. You know you want to.

Make the kids help. Dance with your wife. ROCK THAT SHIT.

Come on. My grandpa always said. "Can't never done NOTHIN".

If you want it, what is stopping you. Get your ass in the shower and SING man. Sing to the cat. HOWL with the DOG. Keep the beat with the rain. Listen to the world around you and feel the beats.

Hello,

I am the owner of a Recording Studio located in Wichita Kansas. We have been open about 2 years. Things are finally starting to work in our favor.

Over the couple of years, my whole life has changed. I worked at Cessna Aircraft Company for 18 years. Put every ounce on energy I had in to the delivery of excellent quality Citation Aircraft. I moved my way up the company from a Modification Electrician, to Avionics Inspector, to Foreman, to Superintendent, to Program Manager to Director. I had a good 401K. I was making about 150K a year. The economy quit and I was laid off.

I took this year to think a lot about life. All those weeks of work for someone else's dreams. I worked 40 straight hours once to get Arnold Palmers' aircraft fixed and out the door on time. I could not even tell you how many weeks and months I would work 15 to 18 hours a day. My 401K disappear in a week. My job gone.

I was already in a pretty good band and my lifelong dream of owning my own studio was in the works. I have invested what I have left in this dream. The economy has not helped but I have learned a lot. I also have been working on line learning marketing.

Almost out of money. About to loose all we own. I still am happier than I was working for 30+ years.

My family has been around music all my life. I knew it was what I loved and should be doing. It was however, so I thought very secure in my corporate office. I was wrong. I feel I wasted 30 years of my life.

Now last year my band TORQUE, played over 100 gigs through the the middle United States. What I have learned doing that will take several more blogs. The music business is there to be conquered but it is not for the weak hearted or the person that lives for a monitary value.

I record music. I Mix it, Master it and prepare it for market. I am a drummer. I have a great respect and love for music. I have been a drummer for most of my life. My most valued comment I hear often. "Its not the notes that you play that make you good, its the ones you don't".

I play my drums a lot. I love to create songs. I love the art of writing good songs. There is something special about getting the power of a song right. Getting the dance right. A little bit of everything today

This was my first everything today. I have worked for months to get this silly eCommerce web site up and running. There are over 4,000 products on this site. They are not completely search friendly according to terapeak, but it was making me see double. Have you ever tried to link that many products in a store, think about meta tags, seo, google bots, fagenfinders, and a million other things? You also have to price check those items and make them search right to compete with the big dogs.

Well I was thinking that I have a lot more life left than to stress over the perfection of that damn site.

Next, I did what usually comes natural to me at that point. I took it out on my Pearl Session Customs. Our band is playing tomorrow night and we hardly ever practice as a band. We manage to stay very accurate without it. We did play over 105 shows last year all over the midwest. We also managed to record our first full length album in the studio. 13 darn good songs I think. You can pick it up on iTunes if you want. Torque - Hells' Juke Joint for 9.99. I am proud of those songs. Let me know what you think.

Next there was the normal recording studio editing stuff. The MySpace stuff, the facebook, the twitter, the publishing of changes to several web sites and now the beginning of a new day. The Blog.

I am actually enjoying the blog part. A chance to sum up my day and make sure I stay true to my dream of wanting to make a living with music.

I have a lot of bands come through town. We have played with, recorded with etc..

I sure wish they would remember that the only real important part of our job is The Song. Each song is alone a message, a point, a feeling that should drive some sort of emotion.

Not speed, accuracy, power double bass at the speed of sound. One emotion is not anger. Anger is an Action caused by emotion.

If the song does not drive a response of any kind it is not a song at all. One of the most asked questions I get, after 30 some years of playing music is.....When is a song finished? When Dewight do you ever finish a song or know it is finished? You are always working on a part of something in a song.

Answer, When I listen to it.....and don't want to change a thing.. it makes me cry or makes me sing. When the song reminds me why I love music. It is then finished.

I worked most the night to get my sites up and running well because I know advertising is a big part of my recording studio being successful.

There is so much I have learned and so much more to learn I get overwhelmed some days.

My eCommerce drives me nuts. I work it through a training web site at Securesites. I can't stand their interface but I spent a lot of money on the training. If I move the host the training stops. What a rip off.

My other sites are not hard to manage, just that one. eBay is fine. my .coms and just host are cool. Only that ecommerce. Maybe I should start over on it.
