Well, it has been a long time between drinks.

First off, a huge apology to all of our loyal fans out there for our unexpected hiatus. Unfortunately a new expanded role at work has had me working around the clock and the rest of the crew have also been really busy with “real life’. Thankyou to everyone for all the kind wishes and encouragement to get the show back on the air.

As all of our schedules are now starting to clear, we are working to bring the show back at the end of September ‘09 with a very special live podcast from the inaugural D23 expo in Anaheim.

We are all looking forward to releasing new shows and over the coming weeks we will be releasing a number of video podcasts to help everybody to get their “Disney Fix”.

Decorations all over the parks but mostly on Main Street, New Orleans Square and Small World Mall. The Castle gets a special make over with thousands of lights to make the it turn into a snowy glowing spectacle. Over at DCA Santa’s beach party Bash is in full effect in the Sun plaza.

Tickets are on a first-come, first-serve basis, so arrive early. Tickets are limited to four per person. Stand-by seating for both nights, to fill any empty seats, will be available for both nights at 4:00 p.m. to fill any empty seats.

History and info
The Candlelight Procession begins with a procession of choir members making their way from the gate by the Firehouse, up Main Street, up Small World Mall and into the Fantasyland Theater. During the trip the choir members hold candles and sing Christmas carols. Once in the theater the choir members fill the stage and form a living Christmas Tree. A celebrity guest narrator then tells the story of Christmas. Throughout the story the narrator pauses and the choir sings Christmas carols. Live musicians, including the spectacular fanfare trumpeters, accompany what is always an emotional evening.
The first Candlelight Procession was held in 1955. It was actually a Choir Festival with individual choirs performing under a gazebo near the Jungle Cruise. For the next few years the ceremony consisted of participating choirs who performed around the hub facing the choir director. In 1960, Candlelight grew to 800 singers who followed the Christmas parades. Finally, in 1961 a narrator was added to the Ceremony. Past Disneyland narrators include Cary Grant, Gregory Peck, John Wayne, James Earl Jones, Mary Hart and, last year, Edward James Olmos.  ( most of this info was according to laughingplace.com )

Have the Time of your Life at the Disney Parks and Celebrate Triumphs, Love, Reunions, Birthdays, your first visit or what ever you like!

The Disneyland Resort began testing their own version of the Disney Dining Plan in mid October for a limited trial until December until just before 2008 Christmas. This is being offered to some visitors who book trips through the Disney Travel Company. The trial version of this plan offers two different options – a Quick Service Meal Plan, and the Dining Meal Plan.

* Visitors who choose the Quick Service Meal Plan will receive two (2) Quick Service meal vouchers and one (1) Snack voucher per person (ages 3 and up), per night of their stay.
* Visitors who choose the Dining Meal Plan will receive one (1) Table Service voucher, one (1) Quick Service voucher and one (1) Snack voucher per person (ages 3 and up), per night of their stay.
* Both the Table Service and Quick Service vouchers are valid for one (1) entree, one (1) dessert and one (1) nonalcoholic beverage at a participating location. Gratuity (where applicable) is not included, and children ages 3-9 must order from the children’s menu where offered.
* “Signature restaurants” and select Character meals require two Table Service vouchers per person.
* Snack vouchers may be redeemed for a regular popcorn, churro, fresh fruit, ice cream, 20-oz drink or cotton candy from a participating location.
* Table service vouchers are valid at: Cafe Orleans, Carnation Cafe, PCH Grill (dinner), Hook’s Pointe, Storyteller’s Cafe (lunch / dinner), Wine Country Trattoria, Yamakbuki, Lost Bar and the Surfside Lounge, as well as the character breakfasts at PCH Grill and Storytellers Cafe, and the character breakfast and lunch at Goofy’s Kitchen.
* Signature Restaurants include Steakhouse 55 (dinner only), Blue Bayou, Napa Rose and the Napa Rose Bar, plus the “Signature” Character meals at Ariel’s Grotto (lunch and dinner) and Goofy’s Kitchen (dinner).
* About 30 Quick Service restaurants locations are participating in this program, and we’ll post the list as soon as we have it.

One reader who was invited to participate in the trial reported receiveing the offer via a postcard that contained a unique PIN. Other readers who called Disney to inquire about the offer were told that they must have a PIN in order to add the program to their reservation. Pricing and availability details were not include in the information distributed to most CMs over the weekend, but one reader was quoted $39.99 per day for adults and $11.99 per day for children for the Dining Meal Plan. A cast member tells us the Quick Service Meal Plan should be about $30 per day for adults and $10 per day for children. Disney may also test customer reaction by offering different packages and prices to different visitors.

It appears that the Resort will use paper vouchers during this trial period, instead of allowing guests to use their Resort Hotel keys as is the practice in Walt Disney World. If you have an opportunity to take advantage of this program at Disneyland, please let us a know if you had the opportunity to experince this trial and let us know what your thoughts about the plan are.

Just as extra options for that questions: Main street in Huntington Beach is cool because you have access to the pier, bonfire pits, a bunch of restaurants and a movie theater http://www.stockteam.com/hbpier.html. It probably takes about 20-30 minutes to get there from the local Anaheim area (we could post a Mapquest map on the Wiki to illustrate it). I love the Queen Mary but the freeway travel can be REALLY crappy during the week. Not only that but there are no events at the Queen Mary on Tuesday either… the Paranormal Shipwalk and Investigation Tours only run Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights. Great as an option most nights though

Summary of the discussion:

Friday Saturday and Sunday Midday are higher traffic times during the week.

Summer, Christmas, Thanks Giving and April ( Easter / Spring ) are the peak seasons.

July 4th typically is the Busiest day of the year.

Always watch out for large conferences Anaheim area is a very popular and a large convention center

Join the crew, as we suggest a possible touring plan for Tom, and recommend a few strategies for him to follow.

Here are a few pointers to assist fellow conventioneers:

Early entry into Disneyland is available for guests that have purchased a 3 day or more ticket on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. If you have one of these multi day tickets, use this feature to get a head start on the crowds.

If you have only one day to hit the parks, aim for the slower mid week days to visit.

Get to the park early, and line up at least 30 minutes before park opening, and eat breakfast before you arrive.

Have a good idea of how you are going to attack the park, before the gates open.

Hit all of your major attractions first and leave the parades, shows and minor attractions until the end of the day.

Have a quick meal during the day to save more time for the attractions.
