2010-12-09T13:57:00.000-08:00

According to ESPN.com, Indians legend Bob Feller has been admitted into hospice care. This is very sad news and the best wishes to him and his family.

South Korea Wins Asian Games!

2010-11-19T16:12:00.000-08:00

Great news Tribe fans! By winning the Asian Games, Choo does not have to report for the two year mandatory military service! This is great news as he is the Indians' best overall player and one of the true stars of the league. Congratulations to him, his team, and his country.

Anthony Reyes , Hector Ambriz, and Chris Gimenez Outrighted

2010-10-29T16:37:00.000-07:00

While the San Francisco Giants are dominating the World Series, the other 28 teams still have jobs to do. Today, the Indians outrighted Hector Ambriz, Chris Gimenez, and Anthony Reyes. Reyes and Gimenez can become free agents, and from what I have heard they will go that route. All three of these guys disappointed this year, and this is not a surprising move as some of our younger guys are looking to get spots on the 40 man roster.

Baseball America Think's the Indians had the Best Draft

2010-10-22T09:21:00.001-07:00

Baseball America thinks that the Indians had the best 2010 draft! (link requires Baseball America account.) Without going into too much deal, I don't want to break copyright rules, they state the best five players for many categories, fastest runner, best power hitter etc. The Indians weren't very represented in each category but had a few guys there. Baseball America's draft report card (link, account required again) really shows how much they like Pomeranz. Looks like the future looks bright in Cleveland!

Choo Update

2010-10-16T07:46:00.001-07:00

Turns out it was mostly a translation/editing problem by the Korean Times. According to Jeeho Yoo via Paul Hoynes of the Plain Dealer, Choo was just envious of the playoff teams but said he wants to stay with a club for a long time, preferably Cleveland. That is good news for the Tribe.

Choo Unhappy in Cleveland?

2010-10-12T19:39:00.001-07:00

According to Yoon Chul of the Korea Times, Shin-Soo Choo wants to move to a contender. This directly contradicts past statements by Choo and new GM Chris Antonetti. The Tribe wants him here, the fans want him here, there is no reason he doesn't get a huge extension. This is definitely a story to watch heading into the off season.

Tribe Win Again!

2010-10-01T20:37:00.000-07:00

What a time for the Indians to win seven in a row! Shin-Soo Choo continues to lead this young team. Good thing these games are really important for us to win...

Excellent Win Tonight

2010-09-25T19:08:00.000-07:00

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, been a bit crazy around here. I know it was against Kansas City, but still a very good effort all around. Two points of note that need special recognition. Shin-Soo Choo went 4-5 tonight with 2 RBI. A decent effort by Gomez, 5 innings and 1 earned run, but our bullpen came in and dominated. Four shut out innings. I think Justin Masterson should stay in the bullpen going into next season. It will keep his innings down and he has shown in the past that the bullpen is where he shines. He was very good in Boston and has struggled in Cleveland as a starter. Masterson would be a very good bullpen pitcher and the move would allow us to keep more guys like Carrasco in the rotation next year.

Indians Claim Chad Huffman

2010-09-17T15:51:00.000-07:00

The Indians Claim Chad Huffman from the Yankees and sent him to AAA according to Bryan Hoch on Twitter. The 25 year old outfielder has shown some potential, last year he won the Pacific League Home Run Derby as well as being named an all star. He has had his struggles this year but seems to be playing better lately. Not a huge pickup, could challenge for a roster spot next year though/

Baseball is not a dying sport

2010-09-15T16:01:00.000-07:00

I am one of the many who still consider baseball to be America's national pastime. There are many people who think it is a dying sport. This is a fantastic article to disprove all of those haters.

16 Inning Game

2010-09-09T10:02:00.000-07:00

I can't believe I watched the entire game, how terrible. We had so many opportunities and we blew all of them. I guess this is what happens when you have a young team.

Depressing Season has Reached the Final Stretch

2010-09-01T20:18:00.000-07:00

I cannot believe that it is already September, how is the baseball season almost over! The Indians are, of course, out of the race and this last month is really only important for two reasons. First off, we need to see what some of the young guys can do in the majors. I know that they will be facing a lot of young guys as well, but experience is needed, no matter what kind. While the Indians aren't in the playoff race, we are in another race. The race for the #1 overall pick. While it seems pretty shady, playing these young guys and taking the losses is probably the best thing for the organization. It REALLY hurts me to say that...

Bob Feller Being Treated For Leukemia

2010-08-29T10:21:00.000-07:00

Sad news out of the Associated Press and Espn, Indians Hall of Fame Pitcher Bob Feller is being treated for leukemia. This is terrible news for the 91 year old former Indians great. He said he is feeling better, but I still wish him the best and hope everything goes along smoothly.

Hector Rondon has Tommy John Surgery

2010-08-26T20:50:00.000-07:00

The Associated Press reports that top prospect Hector Rondon had Tommy John Surgery from, no other than, Dr. James Andrews. Expected recovery time is 9-12 months.

Awful losses

2010-08-25T20:54:00.000-07:00

I am embarrassed to be a Tribe fan after these past couple days. Not only has our starting pitching gotten shelled in the early innings, we provide no run support at all whatsoever. To make it all worse, it's to the Athletics that this is happening to.

Indians sign Saul Rivera

2010-08-22T16:20:00.001-07:00

Just noticed on the Indians' transactions page that we signed pitcher Saul Rivera. Rivera has only pitched 3.2 innings this year yet has given up eleven hits and 9 runs. Rivera was assigned to AAA Columbus.

Michael Brantley Injured in Victory

2010-08-19T21:50:00.000-07:00

That was one of the sloppiest wins I have ever seen. Five errors? Really? Hey, a "W" is a "W." Michael Brantley injured his ankle a ground ball out if you didn't see it. According to Anthony Castrovince, X-rays were negative. An update coming when more information is available.

Indians Agree to sign top picks

2010-08-16T21:43:00.000-07:00

I'm finally back, but a bit under the weather. I do have good news to report in my return, the Indians agreed to terms with three top picks, according to Paul Hoynes on twitter.

2010-08-05T19:34:00.001-07:00

Well, I am going on road trip and won't have internet. I'll be back around the 15th or so. While waiting or my return, here are some good links.

Indians Acquire Argenis Reyes and Juan Apodaca

2010-08-05T19:31:00.000-07:00

According to Brian MacPherson, the Indians have acquired Argenis Reyes and Juan Apodaca from the Red Sox for future considerations.

Interesting Stat

2010-08-05T11:03:00.000-07:00

The Indians had the Red Sox's number last night. On a completely unrelated note, the Indians have traded their opening day starter three years in a row. Jake Westbrook, Cliff Lee, C. C. Sabathia.

UPDATE: Carlos Santana Injured

2010-08-02T19:32:00.000-07:00

Good win. Bad Loss. Seeing him go down like that...as soon as I know anything I will update.

UPDATE: According to the official Cleveland Indians twitter page, "Santana's knee tested well with the training staff and will have an MRI in Cleveland tomorrow"

It was good to see Fausto Carmona support his friend and team mate. If you watched the game, you will notice Fausto immediately went toward the clubhouse to be with Santana once he was pulled.

UPDATE: Here are more details on the injury

One of the Best Catches I Have Ever Seen

2010-07-31T16:33:00.000-07:00

I know he isn't an Indian, but I couldn't resist. You have to think of the situation and how difficult this play is. Chris Heisey, I salute you. This is incredible.

Indians Trade Kerry Wood

2010-07-31T12:57:00.000-07:00

Multiple sources, including Jayson Stark of ESPN, report that the Indians have traded Closer Kerry Wood to the Yankees for either cash or a player to be named later. Indians are paying about half of Wood's salary for the rest of the year. More details when they surface.

UPDATE: ESPN is reporting that it would be $500,000 if the deal is finished by accepting cash apposed to a player to be named later.

Jake Westbrook Traded

2010-07-31T10:12:00.000-07:00

Many sources, including Tom Krasovic of Fan House, reported on the deal. It sends Jake Westbrook to the Cardinals, Ryan Ludwick and Nick Greenwood to the Padres, and Corey Kluber to the Indians. Kluber leads the Texas League in strikeouts and has given up a little less than a hit an inning. The only real complication during this deal was that Westbrook has to reduce his $2M trade bonus, thus needing Union approval.
