Michael won his 1st game and has a 9.56 ERA in 2009.

**Red Sox bullpen- After the start by Buchholz, the Red Sox bullpen quieted the Indians offense and threw 6 innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), walked 1, struck out 6. Ramon Ramirez (1 scoreless inning) has a 2.84 ERA. Bowden won the game after throwing 2 2/3 innings and has a 9.56 ERA. Daniel Bard threw a scoreless inning and finished up with a 3.65 ERA. He threw 5 innings, giving up 7 runs (7 earned), he walked 2, struck out 4 and gave up 3 Home Runs. He finished up with a 5.96 ERA and lost his 5Th game.

**Rafael Perez- This was a wasted season for Perez, he lasted 2/3 of an inning, giving up 4 runs (4 earned), he walked 1, struck out 1 and now has a 7.31 ERA.

**Wyatt Toregas & Chris Gimenez- They both struck out 3 times.

**Clay Buchholz- Clay threw 3 innings, giving up 6 runs (6 earned), he walked 2, struck out 6 and finished the year with an ERA of 4.21.

Indians record after 162 games in 2009: 65-97
Indians record after 162 games in 2008: 81-81
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 19-20
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 71

On Deck:

Well, the Eric Wedge era ended with a big loud thump, just like this entire season. I believe Eric Wedge will manage some other day for another team, but for his sake he needs to figure out what went wrong this season so he doesn't continue to make the same mistakes. Needless to say I will be curious to see how he does somewhere else. I am going to give you my take on Wedge later this week, and I want to thank the readers for following this season with me. Please keep checking the site because I promise I will continue to post things during the off season, more so than last season. However, this team being at 65-97, I am relieved the season is over with. Let's hope this team finds a way to get better while the players develop and find ways on how to become successful Major League players.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #161 10/3/09....Another Night, Same Story in Boston

B & G's #161 10/3/09

Cleveland Indians (65-95) Vs Boston Red Sox (93-67)
At Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts
Saturday October 3rd, 2009

Aaron Laffey (7-8, 3.91) Vs Josh Beckett (16-6, 3.78)
Final Score: Boston 11, Cleveland 6
W- Josh Beckett (17-6)
L- Aaron Laffey (7-9)

Baseballs:

**Victor Martinez- Victor went 1-3 at the plate, but the hit was big. He hit a grand slam Home Run, his 23rd Home Run of the season, 1st career grand slam. He drove in 4 runs, giving him 108 RBIs and Victor is now hitting .308.

**Brian Anderson- This is ridiculous. This kid has shown nothing in his career as a hitter, yet he goes 3-3 with a walk against us. He hit his 4Th Home Run of the year, drove in 3 runs, giving him 18 RBIs and is hitting .243.

**Dustin Pedroia- Dustin started the bottom of the 1st inning with a lead off Home Run, his 14Th Home Run of the season, he drove in his 70Th run and finished the night 1-2 with 3 walks and 2 runs scored. Dustin is now hitting .295.

**Dusty Brown- Dusty went 1-2, he hit his 1st career Home Run, drove in his 1st career RBI and is hitting .333.

**Casey Kotchman- Casey went 2-4 at the plate and is hitting .270.

**Kevin Youkilis- Kevin went 1-4 with a walk, he is hitting .305.

**Dustin Richardson- Threw a scoreless 9Th inning to end the game, he has a 0.00 ERA.

**Shin-Soo Choo- Choo finished the night 2-4 with a walk, he hit his 20Th Home Run of the season, drove in 3 runs, giving him 86 RBIs and is hitting .300. He has now become the first Asian-born player to have 20 or more Home Runs and 20 or more steals. A very good season for Choo.

**Asdrubal Cabrera- Asdrubal went 2-4 at the plate with a walk and is now hitting .308.

**Michael Brantley- Michael went 2-5 and drove in his 10Th RBI of the season. Michael is hitting .306.

**Luis Valbuena- Luis went 2-4 at the plate, he is hitting .251.

**Mike Gosling- Did very well, throwing 4 innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 2, struck out 1 and now has a 5.04 ERA.

1/2 Baseball, 1/2 Goofball:

**Josh Beckett- He started off horrible, giving up 4 runs in the first 2 innings, but after his offense gave him some runs, he settled down and threw 3 shutout innings to finish the season. He threw 5 innings, giving up 4 runs (4 earned), he walked 3, struck out 5 and won his 17Th win with a 3.86 ERA.

**Paul Byrd- Paul came in and faced his former team, he did okay, 3 innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he didn't walk anyone and struck out 1. Byrd has a 5.82 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Aaron Laffey- He was just awful, he threw 2 innings, giving up 8 runs (8 earned), he walked 2, struck out 4 and finishes the season with 9 losses and a 4.44 ERA.

**Jensen Lewis- Came in and gave up 2 more runs (2 earned) in 2 innings, he walked 2, struck out 1 and now has a 4.61 ERA.

Indians record after 161 games in 2009: 65-96
Indians record after 161 games in 2008: 81-80
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 19-20
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 71

On Deck:

Wow, one more game to go, I really don't have much else to say other than I hate this situation, but what can you do? Game starts at 1:35 PM on Sunday afternoon, airing on STO and WKYC TV-3 and Indians On Deck at 1:00 PM. Tomo Ohka (1-4, 5.45) will take on Clay Buchholz (7-4, 3.74). The game will air on WMMS 100.7-FM let's go Tribe and take the final win.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #160 10/2/09...Sowers Finishies His 2009 Season A Little Sour

B & G's #160 10/2/09

Cleveland Indians (65-94) Vs Boston Red Sox (92-67)
At Fenway Park in Cleveland, Ohio
Friday October 2Nd, 2009

Jeremy Sowers (6-10, 5.09) Vs Daisuke Matsuzaka (3-6, 6.08)
Final Score: Boston 6, Cleveland 2
W- Daisuke Matsuzaka (4-6)
L- Jeremy Sowers (6-11)

Baseballs:

**Jacoby Ellsbury- He was a pest on the base paths, he finished the night 1-3 with 2 walks, he stole his 69Th base of the season and ran home after Kelly Shoppach's bad throw at 3rd base. He scored 2 runs and is hitting .301.

**Daisuke Matsuzaka- I was screaming at my TV to wait a second more so you can make contact. He does that pose when he throws and everyone else in the AL this year has tattooed him, so naturally he controls us tonight. 6 innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 3, struck out 7 and now has a 5.76 ERA with his 4Th win.

**Victor Martinez- Victor brought back memories on how he can hit the ball anywhere he wants and it somehow finds a way to get through. 2-4 evening, he drove in his 104Th run of the season and is now hitting .303.

**Kevin Youkilis- Kevin went 1-3 with a walk, he hit a double and drove in 2 runs, giving him 94 RBIs and is hitting .305.

**Jason Bay- Jason went 2-4 and drove in his 117Th RBI of the season. Bay is hitting .268.

**Mike Lowell- Mike DH'd tonight and he went 1-3 with a walk and is hitting .290.

**Alex Gonzales- Was hit by a pitch twice.

**Billy Wagner- Came in, threw 2/3 of an innings, striking out both men he faced. He has a 1.72 ERA with his 6Th hold.

**Ramon Ramirez- Ramon threw a scoreless inning, he earned his 12Th hold of the year, walked 1, struck out 1 in the process and now has a 2.88 ERA.

**Daniel Bard- Daniel threw 1/3 of an inning of scoreless ball, he now has a 3.73 ERA.

**Takashi Saito- Finished off the game throwing a scoreless 9Th inning and now has a 2.43 ERA.

**Luis Valbuena- Luis went 3-4 and drove in his 30Th RBI of the season and is hitting .248.

**Jamey Carroll- Jamey went 2-4 with a walk and he is hitting .276.

**Travis Hafner- Hafner finished the night 1-3 with a walk and a double. He is hitting .272 on the year.

**Jess Todd- Todd threw 2 scoreless innings, he has a 8.02 ERA.

**Jose Veras- Jose threw 1/3 of an inning of scoreless ball, he now has a 5.19 ERA.

**Kerry Wood- Threw a scoreless 8Th inning, he did walk 2, strike out 1 and now has a 4.25 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Jeremy Sowers- He just showed me he isn't a starter this year, he can come in next season as a reliever. And there is nothing wrong with that, because we know he can throw 4 scoreless innings, yet he can't throw 5 scoreless innings. We know he can get the hitters out in their 1st and 2Nd at bats, but not in their 3rd at bats. So put the players in the best possible position to help us win. Having said that, he threw just 3 innings, giving up 4 runs (4 earned), he walked 2, struck out 1 and raised his ERA to 5.25 with 11 losses.

**Indians Defense- 3 errors cost them 2 unearned runs. Matt Laporta (4Th), Jhonny Peralta (19Th), and Kelly Shoppach (4Th) all contributed.

**Indians Offense- Again, they can't hit off of Daisuke Matsuzaka, there are problems. 2 runs, 8 hits, 4 walks, and 10 more strikeouts, leaving 10 men on base.

**Kevin Youkilis- Committed his 6Th error of the season.

Indians record after 160 games in 2009: 65-95
Indians record after 160 games in 2008: 80-80
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 19-20
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 71

On Deck:

13 straight losses on the road, I don't see how this team can win just 1 game the rest of the year, so this is very tough to watch for any Indians fan. Saturday night is another game, starts at 7:10 PM, airing on STO with Indians On deck at 6:30 PM. Aaron Laffey (7-8, 3.91) take his last start. He will be opposed by Josh Beckett (16-6, 3.78), so it won't be any easier. The game will air on WTAM 1100-AM, let's make Josh pay for that dominating Game 5 performance of the 2007 ALCS.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #159 10/1/09...Offense Falls Asleep Again

B & G's #159 10/1/09

Cleveland Indians (65-93) Vs Boston Red Sox (91-67)
At Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts
Thursday October 1st, 2009

Carlos Carrasco (0-3, 9.00) Vs Jon Lester (14-8, 3.52)
Final Score: Boston 3, Cleveland 0
W- Jon Lester (15-8)
L- Carlos Carrasco (0-4)
S- Jonathan Papelbon (38)

Baseballs:

**Jon Lester- It hardly seems fair that when the Red Sox go out and spend money on free agents, they can also draft young kids like Lester. One of the best lefties in the game, he went 6 1/3 innings of shutout ball, giving up 2 hits, he walked 1, struck out 7 and now has a 3.41 ERA.

**Jacoby Ellsbury- Jacoby went 3-5 at the plate, he stole his 68Th base of the season, he also was caught for the 11Th time. Ellsbury is now hitting .301.

**Alex Gonzales- Alex finished the night 2-3 with a walk, he is hitting .239.

**Jason Bay- Jason finished the night 2-4 and drove in his 116Th RBI of the season. Jason is hitting .266.

**Victor Martinez- Victor came back to haunt his former team, he went 2-4 with a double and is now hitting .302.

**Daniel Bard- Daniel threw 2/3 of an inning, earning his 13Th hold of the season and he now has a 3.75 ERA.

**Billy Wagner- Bill threw a scoreless 8Th inning, earning his 5Th hold of the year and he now has a 1.80 ERA.

**Jonathan Papelbon- Can't he close his mouth when he pitches? Anyway, he finished up the game by throwing a scoreless 9Th inning, earning his 38Th save of the year. He struck out 2 and now has a 1.88 ERA.

**Matt Laporta- Matt went 1-3 with a double at the plate and is hitting .269.

**Lou Marson- Lou went 1-3 with a double and is hitting .246.

**Jensen Lewis- Jensen threw 1 2/3 innings of scoreless ball, he walked 2, struck out 2 and now has a 4.48 ERA.

**Rafael Perez- Perez threw 2 scoreless innings and he now has a 6.65 ERA.

**Jose Veras- Jose threw a scoreless 8Th inning, he walked 1, struck out 1 and now has a 5.22 ERA.

1/2 Baseball, 1/2 Goofball:

**Carlos Carrasco- Carlos lost his 4Th game of the season, but he left early after getting hit by a ball. He threw 3 1/3 innings, giving up 3 runs (3 earned), he walked 1, struck out 1 and now finished the season at 8.87 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Indians Offense- Well, Hafner had the night off, so did Cabrera, although he is hurt, but Choo wasn't and instead of putting Choo in as a DH, we get Kelly "K" Shoppach. Wow, 0 runs, 3 hits, 1 walk, 10 strikeouts. We just surrendered to the Red Sox.

Indians record after 159 games in 2009: 65-94
Indians record after 159 games in 2008: 79-80
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 19-20
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 71

On Deck:

I guess this was the C-Team the Red Sox faced tonight, very frustrating because all I want to see is this team fight back and end the season on a positive light. I don't see that happening with these lineups. I expected Hafner to be benched, so why bench Choo? Sure, he pinch hit later in the game, but it doesn't matter, by that time the game was over with. So the Indians have been shut out on back to back games, and which asks the question does Wedge even care after he knows he is fired at the end of the season? Think about that when you see these horrible lineups. Another game on Friday evening, starting at 7:10 PM, airing on STO with Indians On deck starting at 6:30 PM. Jeremy Sowers (6-10, 5.09) takes the start. He will be opposed by Daisuke Matsuzaka (3-6, 6.08). The game will air on WTAM 1100-AM so let's get this win.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #158 9/30/09-Game Two...Pitcher's Duel At Progressive Field Putting Indians On Short End

B & G's #158 9/30/09- Game Two

Chicago White Sox (76-82) Vs Cleveland Indians (65-92)
At Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio
Wednesday September 30Th, 2009

Mark Buerhle (12-10, 3.95) Vs Justin Masterson (4-9, 4.79)
Final Score: Chicago 1, Cleveland 0
W- Mark Buerhle (13-10)
L- Justin Masterson (4-10)
S- Matt Thornton (4)

Baseballs:

**Mark Buerhle- In his last start of the season, Mark threw with no ease against the Indians, he found a way to get the big out when he needed to. 6 shutout innings, giving up 3 hits, didn't walk anyone, struck out 3. Mark won his 13Th game and now has a 3.84 ERA.

**Paul Konerko- Paul went 1-2 with 2 walks, he drove in the only run of the game, his 88Th RBI of the year. Paul is now hitting .280.

**Tony Pena- 2 scoreless innings, he didn't walk anyone, struck out 1, he has a 4.04 ERA and earned his 12Th hold of the season.

**Matt Thornton- Matt picked up his 4Th save of the year, he struck out 2 and now has a 2.78 ERA.

**Justin Masterson- Justin deserved a better result, but unfortunately it's part of the game. He threw a complete game, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 2, struck out 12 and finished the season with a 4.52 ERA with his 10Th loss of the year.

**Luis Valbuena- Luis hit a pinch hit single to at least give the Indians hope in the 9Th inning. He is hitting .244.

Goofballs:

**Indians Offense- They were shutout, only have 4 hits, they didn't walk anyone, struck out 6 and left 4 men on base.

**Jayson Nix & Ramon Castro- They struck out 3 times each.

Indians record after 158 games in 2009: 65-93
Indians record after 158 games in 2008: 79-79
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 19-20
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 71

On Deck:

Oh well, like it matters anymore. Justin Masterson was brilliant and it showed he can handle a starting load, however with this lineup they had no shot of scoring any runs, but what did we expect? So, the Indians leave the 2009 season at Progressive Field with a very bad 35-46 record. I'll say it again, this team needs to play better at home, the 2Nd year in a row where they played poorly. If any team has a record over .500 at home, then they always stand a chance, especially with this AL Central division. The Indians also finished the year at 30-42 against the AL Central, and you must beat your own division in order to stand a chance to win the division. The Indians are now off to a 4 game road trip, their final trip of the year to Boston. Game will start at 7:10 PM on Thursday evening, airing on STO with Indians On deck at 6:30 PM. Carlos Carrasco (0-3, 9.00) will take on Jon Lester (14-8, 3.52). The game will air on WTAM 1100-AM so let's get a win.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #157 9/30, Game One...Fausto controls White Sox Bats...Hafner And Laporta Do The Rest

B & G's #157 9/30/09- Game One

Chicago White Sox (76-81) Vs Cleveland Indians (64-92)
At Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio
Wednesday, September 30Th, 2009

Carlos Torres (1-1, 5.91) Vs Fausto Carmona (4-12, 6.62)
Final Score: Cleveland 5, Chicago 1
W- Fausto Carmona (5-12)
L- Carlos Torres (1-2)

Baseballs:

**Fausto Carmona- 7 strong innings for the big man. He picked up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 2, struck out 5 and finishes the season with a 6.32 ERA and 5 wins. He has to step up next year and become that 19 game winner he was in 2007. No excuses next season.

**Travis Hafner- Pronk went 2-3 with a walk, he hit his 16Th Home Run of the season and now has 47 RBIs. He is hitting .272 on the year.

**Matt Laporta- Matt went 1-1 with 2 walks, got hit by a pitch, and a double, he drove in his 20Th run of the season. Matt is hitting .273.

**Lou Marson- Lou finished the night 1-2 with a sacrifice fly, he drove in 2 runs, giving him 4 RBIs and is hitting .241.

**Asdrubal Cabrera- Cabrera left the game early, but he went 1-2 and is hitting .306.

**Chris Perez- 2 scoreless innings finishing up the game. He didn't walk anyone, struck out 1 and now has a 4.20 ERA.

**Mark Kotsay- Mark went 2-4 at the plate and is hitting .289.

**Gordon Beckham- Gordon went 1-3 with a walk, he is hitting .272.

**Dewayne Wise- Wise went 1-4 with a triple and he drove in his 11Th RBI. Dewayne is hitting .221.

**Randy Williams- Randy threw 2 scoreless innings, he didn't walk anyone, struck out 2 and now has a 4.58 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Carlos Torres- Carlos threw 6 innings, giving up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 4, struck out 4, lost his 2Nd game and now has a 6.26 ERA.

**White Sox Offense- They scored 1 run on just 6 hits, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts, and left 6 men on base.

Indians record after 156 games in 2009: 65-92
Indians record after 156 games in 2008: 79-78
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 19-19
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 70

On Deck:

Well, STO wanted to make sure and feel pity for Eric Wedge since he lost his job, but the Indians did the right thing. It was time he left here because we knew how he would treat the young players. All you have to see is what he did to Matt Laporta in both games. He got hurt because he moved to 1st base, that is what Wedge pretty much said, so he just came back and what does he do? Matt plays 1st base in the 1st game, and he played LF in the 2Nd game. One thing the new manager must do is keep Laporta in one position next season. Allow the utility fielders to play multi positions and nobody else, but he loved that "flexibility". We kept hearing that throughout spring training was the term "flexibility" like it was a good thing, well that "flexibility" got us to a 65-92 record. Game two starts up very shortly. It will feature Mark Buerhle (12-10, 3.95) taking on Justin Masterson (4-9, 4.79). Let's take two.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #156 9/28/09...Indians Bat Goes Silent Against Danks

B & G's #156 9/28/09

Chicago White Sox (75-81) Vs Cleveland Indians (64-91)
At Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio
Monday, September 28Th, 2009

John Danks (12-10, 3.82) Vs Aaron Laffey (7-7, 3.97)
Final Score: Chicago 6, Cleveland 1
W- John Danks (13-10)
L- Aaron Laffey (7-8)

Baseballs:

**Jon Danks- A complete game, where he gave up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 1, struck out 7 and now has a 3.69 ERA with 13 wins.

**Gordon Beckham- Gordon went 2-5 and drove in 3 runs, he hit a double and is hitting . 272.

**Brent Lillibridge- Brent went 2-3 at the plate with a walk, he drove in his 1St RBI and is hitting . 163.

**Josh Fields- Josh went 2-4 with a walk and is hitting . 224.

**Dewayne Wise- Wise went 2-4 at the plate and drove in his 10Th RBI. Oh well, there goes my theory on this team finishing the year well. The only good thing out of this game was Aaron Laffey doing well, but he just had 1 bad inning. Tomorrow's game starts at 7:05 PM, airing on STO with Indians On Deck at 6:30 PM. Carlos Torres (1-1, 5.91) will take on Justin Masterson (4-9, 4.79). He walked 2, struck out 5 and finished the year with a 5.61 ERA. This was his last start.

**Asdrubal Cabrera- Cabrera finished the day 4-5, the 5Th time this year he has had 4 hits in a game, which is incredible. He had a double, drove in 3 runs to give him 65 RBIs. Cabrera is now hitting . 308.

**Kelly Shoppach- Kelly had a nice game, he went 2-4, he hit his 12Th Home Run of the season, drove in 3 runs, giving him 40 RBIs and is hitting . 223.

**Matt Laporta- Matt went 1-3 with a walk and he hit his 7Th Home Run of the season, drove in his 19Th run and is now hitting . 273.

**Jamey Carroll- Jamey went 1-4 with a walk, he scored 2 runs and is hitting . 283.

**Luis Valbuena- Valbuena went 1-4 with a walk, scored 2 runs and is hitting . 241.

**Jess Todd- Threw a scoreless 9Th inning, he strike out 1 and now has a 8.84 ERA.

**Luke Scott- Luke went 2-4 at the plate and is hitting . 261.

**Brian Roberts- Brian went 1-2 with a walk and is hitting . 287.

**Chris Lambert- Chris threw 3 innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 5 and now has a 10.22 ERA.

**Dennis Sarfate- Dennis threw a scoreless 8Th inning, he now has a 6.16 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Chris Tillman- Chris lasted just 2 innings, giving up 6 runs (6 earned), he walked 1, struck out 2 and now has a 5.40 ERA.

**Brian Bass- Brian threw 2 innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 2, struck out 1 and now has a 6.16 ERA.

**Orioles Offense- They were shutout by just getting 5 hits, they walked 2 times and struck out 6. They had no answers for David Huff.

**Andy Marte- Andy committed his 5Th error of the season.

**Jamey Carroll- Struck out 3 times.

**Shin-Soo Choo- Choo struck out 3 times at the plate.

Indians record after 155 games in 2009: 64-91
Indians record after 155 games in 2008: 78-77
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 19-19
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 68

On Deck:

Although it's against the Baltimore Orioles, it's still nice to see the Indians sweep another team, and that's what happened. My question is did we win 3 in a row because we were facing Baltimore or is it because the offense is now getting into a nice groove. One guy who is going through a nice groove is David Huff, finishing the season very nice. He won his 11Th game and he certainly earned that shot to be the early favorite to claim that number 5 starter spot heading into next year. The White Sox come into town to start the last home series of the year. Monday's game starts at 7:05 PM, airing on STO with Indians On deck at 6:30 PM. John Danks (12-10, 3.82) will take on Aaron Laffey (7-7, 3.97). The game will air on WTAM 1100-AM if you can't catch the game on TV. He threw 1 inning, gave up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 1, didn't strike anyone out and has a 4.33 ERA. But he did pick up his 3rd win of the season, thanks to his offense scoring the winning run.

**Jeremy Sowers- Again, he blew up in the 5Th inning. 4 shutout innings, gave up 5 runs in the 5Th. So he threw 5 innings, giving up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 4, struck out 3 and has a 5.09 ERA.

**Jensen Lewis- Threw an inning and gave up a Home Run. However, they got swept by the Athletics, another team struggling, so we'll take this. The Indians will now get a chance to sweep the Orioles on Sunday afternoon. Game starts at 1:05 PM, airing on STO, with Indians On Deck at 12:30 PM. Chris Tillman (2-4, 4.71) will take on David Huff (10-8, 5.98). So let's go Tribe, and let's go Browns.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #153 9/25/09...Fausto Sharp...Prevents Indians To Make History

B & G's #153 9/25/09

Baltimore Orioles (60-92) Vs Cleveland Indians (61-91)
At Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio
Friday, September 25Th, 2009

David Hernandez (4-8, 5.34) Vs Fausto Carmona (3-12, 6.81)
Final Score: Cleveland 4, Baltimore 2
W- Fausto Carmona (4-12)
L- David Hernandez (4-9)
S- Kerry Wood (20)

Baseballs:

**Fausto Carmona- Fausto worked 6 strong innings, giving the Indians a chance to win the game. He gave up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 1, struck out 6, and won his 4Th game. Fausto now has a 6.62 ERA.

**Lou Marson- Lou's double in the 5Th inning gave the Indians the lead for good, and he later walked in a run. He finished the evening 1-3 with a walk and drove in 2 runs. He is now hitting . 217 with 2 RBIs.

**Luis Valbuena- Got the 5th inning rolling with his 9Th Home Run of the season. He finished the night 2-3 with a sacrifice bunt, he now has 27 RBIs and is hitting . 239.

**Andy Marte- Maybe he does need to play everyday? He finished the night 2-3 with a walk and is hitting . 254, so now that Laporta is back, he will sit out tomorrow night.

**Matt Laporta- Matt came back into the lineup and responded by going 2-4 with 2 singles. He is now hitting . 272.

**Tony Sipp- Tony committed his 10Th hold, he threw a scoreless 7Th inning, he walked 2, struck out 1 and now has a 3.05 ERA.

**Jose Veras- Wow, Eric Wedge took a big chance, but tonight it worked. Veras threw a scoreless 8Th inning, he did walk 1, didn't strike anyone out and committed his 6Th hold. Veras now has a 5.40 ERA.

**Kerry Wood- Kerry threw an easy 1...2...3 9Th inning for his 20Th save. He struck out 1 and now has a 4.08 ERA.

**David Hernandez- David did what he could to prevent the Indians from scoring, but he still threw a quality start, 6 innings, giving up 3 runs (2 earned), he walked 1, struck out 5 and now has a 5.20 ERA.

**Nick Markakis- Nick went 1-4 and his hit was his 17Th Home Run of the season, he drove in his 95th RBI. Nick is hitting . 293.

**Felix Pie- Felix went 2-4 with a double and he is hitting . 266.

**Michael Aubrey- Michael went 2-4 at the plate, he drove in his 7Th run of the season and he is hitting . 321.

**Luke Scott- Luke hit a double and finished the night 2-5. He is hitting . 255.

**Ty Wiggington- Ty went 2-4 at the plate, he is hitting . 274.

**Alberto Castillo- Alberto threw a scoreless 7Th inning, he struck out 1 and now has a 2.61 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Orioles Offense- The Orioles could only score 2 runs, 10 hits, they walked 4 times, struck out 8 and left 10 men on base.

**Melvin Mora- Melvin committed his 11Th error of the season.

**Matt Albers- Matt threw an inning, he gave up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 3, didn't strike anyone out. He just seemed like he was in charge and he played the role of stopper. He stopped the Indians from making history by tying their worst losing streak ever. The funny thing is in that season, 1931, the Indians finished up 78-76, despite that 12 game losing streak. They won't finish over . 500 this year. So, another game on Saturday evening at 7:05 PM. The game will air on STO and WKYC- TV3, with Indians On Deck at 6:30 PM. Jason Berken (5-12, 6.41) will take on Jeremy Sowers (6-10, 4.92). The game will air on WTAM 1100-AM if you can't see the game on TV. Let's go Tribe, if we win Saturday, it's 2 in a row. If they win Sunday, it's 3 in a row....something called a winning streak. It has happened before.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #152 9/24/09...Well They Almost Won

B & G's #152 9/24/09

Detroit Tigers (81-70) Vs Cleveland Indians (61-90)
At Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio
Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Justin Verlander (16-9, 3.44) Vs Carlos Carrasco (0-2, 9.64)
Final Score: Detroit, 6, Cleveland 5
W- Justin Verlander (17-9)
L- Carlos Carrasco (0-3)
S- Fernando Rodney (35)

Baseballs:

**Justin Verlander- He was dominating the Indians again, but again, at this point, who hasn't? He worked 7 innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 2, struck out 11 and now has a 3.41 ERA.

**Carlos Guillen- Oh, good gravy, can't the Indians get this guy out? Can he drive in 50 by the end of the season?

**Andy Marte- Andy is taking advantage again of his playing time. He went 2-4 and is hitting .242.

**Shin-Soo Choo- Choo went 2-5 and he hit his 17th Home Run of the year, a 2 run shot, giving him 81 RBIs. Choo is hitting .304.

**Michael Brantley- Michael went 2-5, he drove in 2 runs, giving him 9 RBIs, he also stole his 4th base and is hitting .337.

**Luis Valbuena- Luis went 1-3 with a walk and is hitting .235.

**Kerry Wood- Threw a scoreless 9th inning, he walked 1, struck out 2 and now has a 4.15 ERA.

1/2 Baseball, 1/2 Goofball:

**Carlos Carrasco- He wasn't that bad, he gave up 4 runs (4 earned) in 5 innings. He walked 1, and gave up a hit. Unfornately, he didn't give up another run. He has a 3.13 ERA.

**Luis Valbuena- Committed his 11th error of the season.

**Bobby Seay- Bobby didn't retire anyone, he gave up 1 run (1 earned) in 0 innings. Bobby now has a 3.88 ERA.

**Fernando Rodney- I can't see him being a successful closer in the postseason. Maybe I am wrong, but everytime I see Rodney pitch, he has trouble. He gave up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 1, didn't strike anyone out and still did enough to get his 35th save. Now Rodney has a 3.97 ERA.

Indians record after 152 games in 2009: 61-91
Indians record after 152 games in 2008: 75-77
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 18-19
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 66

On Deck:

Well, look at it like this, Friday night and Saturday night could be historic, the Indians all time franchise record is 12 straight losses. They are at 11 right now. At least they fought tonight, for a split second I thoughtthey were going to win, but reality set in very quickly. Baltimore comes in for a 3 game series, Friday night's game starts at 7:05 PM, airing on STO with Indians On Deck at 6:30 PM. David Hernandez (4-8, 5.34), he will be opposed by Fausto Carmona (3-12, 6.81). The game will air on WTAM 1100-AM, let's get some wins.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #151 9/23/09...Another Day....Another Loss...10 In A Row

B & G's #151 9/23/09

Detroit Tigers (80-70) Vs Cleveland Indians (61-89)
At Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio
Wednesday September 23rd, 2009

Rick Porcello (13-9, 4.22) Vs Justin Masterson (4-8, 4.49)
Final Score: Detroit 11, Cleveland 3
W- Rick Porcello (14-9)
L- Justin Masterson (4-9)

Baseballs:

**Carlos Guillen- Carlos hit 2 Home Runs, giving him 11 Home Runs, he drove in 4 runs. He threw 4 innings, giving up 8 runs (6 earned), he walked 3, struck out 4, gave up 2 Home Runs and raised his ERA to 4.79.

**Mike Gosling- Mike threw 1 1/3 innings, giving up 3 runs (3 earned), he walked 1, didn't strike anyone out and now has a 5.57 ERA.

**Indians Offense- Another disastorous night at the plate. 3 runs on 9 hits, 7 walks, and they left 12 men on base. Again, didn't show a whole lot of heart and poise.

**Andy Marte- Committed his 4th error of the season.

**Ryan Perry- Ryan threw 2 innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 2, struck out 3 and now has a 4.11 ERA.

**Curtis Granderson- Curtis had the hat trick with 3 strikeouts.

Indians record after 151 games in 2009: 60-91
Indians record after 151 games in 2008: 74-77
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 18-18
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 66

On Deck:

Another game, another loss. 4 runs the Indians gave up in that 1st inning and that pretty much sealed the fate. In fact, the Indians haven't even had a lead in over a week, and I kid you not, I think I care more about this team than the players themselves. So, the Tigers go for the series sweep Thursday evening, game starts at 7:05 PM, airing on STO and MLB Network. Indians On deck air at 6:30 PM on STO. Justin Verlander (16-9, 3.44) will take on Carlos Carrasco (0-2, 9.64). So will this team finally win a game? Probably not, but whatever. The game will air on WTAM 1100-AM if you can't see the game on TV.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #150 9/22/09...Offense Goes To Sleep Again At Progressive Field

B & G's #150 9/22/09

Detroit Tigers (79-70) Vs Cleveland Indians (61-88)
At Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio
Tuesday September 22Nd, 2009

Edwin Jackson (12-7, 3.37) Vs Aaron Laffey (7-6, 4.09)
Final Score: Detroit 3, Cleveland 1
W- Edwin Jackson (13-7)
L- Aaron Laffey (7-7)
S- Fernando Rodney (34)

Baseballs:

**Edwin Jackson- Edwin threw 7 shutout innings against a very depleted Indians offense. But he still had to give his team a big lift with Minnesota gaining steam on them, and he did. He walked 3, struck out 2, lowered his ERA to 3.25. Jackson now has 13 wins.

**Magglio Ordonez- The Indians still couldn't get him out, he went 3-3 with a walk and a double. Ordonez is now hitting .295.

**Ryan Rayburn- Ryan went 2-3 with 2 walks, he hit his 14Th Home Run of the season, drove in his 41st RBI of the year. Ryan is hitting .281.

**Placido Polanco- Placido went 1-4 with a walk, he is hitting .283.

**Gerard Laird- He walked 2 times.

**Brandon Lyon- Brandon threw 2/3 of an inning, didn't give up a run. he did walk 2, strike out 1 and now has a 2.94 ERA.

**Fernando Rodney- Finished up the game, throwing a scoreless 9Th inning and notching his 34Th save. Rodney now has a 3.76 ERA.

**Aaron Laffey- Aaron did what he had to, but unfortunately his offense didn't. He threw 6 2/3 innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 3, didn't strike anyone out and now has a 3.93 ERA with 7 losses.

**Shin-Soo Choo- Choo finished the night 3-4 with a double and he is hitting .303.

**Trevor Crowe- Trevor went 2-4 and is hitting .238.

**Michael Brantley- Michael went 2-5 at the plate and he is hitting .342.

**Lou Marson- Walked 2 times after finishing up 0-2, he is hitting .231 on the year.

**Tony Sipp- Tony threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings, he walked 2, didn't strike anyone out and he now has a 3.13 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Indians Offense- Did absolutely nothing in this game. 1 run on 10 hits, 5 walks, 3 strikeouts, and they left 10 men on base.

**Chris Perez- Had a tough time, he threw 1 inning, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 2, struck out 2 and now has a 4.35 ERA.

**Bobby Seay- Bobby gave up 1 run (1 earned) in 1/3 of an inning, he now has a 3.70 ERA.

Indians record after 150 games in 2009: 61-89
Indians record after 150 games in 2008: 73-77
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 18-18
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 66

On Deck:

Another day, another loss. Can't this season just be over with? They truly have a shot at losing 100 games, the first time that happened since 1991. So if Eric Wedge does get fired, and if he doesn't, that says alot about this ownership, then he truly is going out like a bang. Another game on Wednesday evening, starting at 7:05 PM, airing on STO with Indians On Deck at 6:30 PM. Rick Porcello (13-9, 4.22) will take on Justin Masterson (4-8, 4.49). WTAM 1100-AM will air the game on the radio if you can't watch the game on TV.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #149 9/20/09....Indians Get Swept By Athletics...What Else Can Go Wrong?

B & G's #149 9/20/09

Cleveland Indians (61-87) Vs Oakland Athletics (70-78)
At Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, California
Sunday September 20Th, 2009

Fausto Carmona (3-11, 6.58) Vs Dana Eveland (1-3, 7.26)
Final Score: Oakland 11, Cleveland 4
W- Dana Eveland (2-3)
L- Fausto Carmona (3-12)

Baseballs:

**Adam Kennedy- Again this guy hurts the Indians, he finished the day 3-5 with a double and a Home Run, his 11Th of the season and he drove in 3 runs, giving him 59 RBIs and Adam is hitting .291.

**Dana Eveland- This guy threw 5 strong innings, dominated the Indians hitting. He gave up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 2, struck out 2, and now has a 6.50 ERA with 2 wins.

**Scott Hairston- Scott finished the day 2-3 with a sacrifice fly, he drove in his 68Th run of the year and he now has a .266 average.

**Rajai Davis- Davis went 2-5 at the plate, he drove in his 43rd RBI of the season and is now hitting .316.

**Ryan Sweeney- Ryan went 2-5 and drove in 2 runs, giving him 51 RBIs. Ryan hit a double and is now hitting .288.

**Jack Cust- Jack went 2-4 at the plate, he is hitting .237 at the plate.

**Jon Meloan- The Indians gave up on this guy way too early. Then again, so did the Pirates and the Rays. He threw the final 2 innings, he did give up 1 run (0 earned), he walked 1, struck out 3 and now has a 0.00 ERA.

**Michael Brantley- Michael went 3-4 at the plate with a double, he is hitting .338 on the year.

**Asdrubal Cabrera- Cabrera finished the game 2-5 and he drove in his 64Th RBI. Cabrera still cares, I can't say that about some of the other players. He is hitting .306.

**Trevor Crowe- I am giving him a baseball because he hit a triple, his 3rd of the season. He drove in his 15Th RBI of the year. Trevor is hitting .230.

Goofballs:

**Fausto Carmona- Fausto threw 5 2/3 innings, giving up 9 runs (8 earned), he walked 1, struck out 2, lost his 12Th game and now has a 6.89 ERA.

**Indians Offense- Still, as a collective unit, they had a big thud. 4 runs on 8 hits, they walked 5 times, struck out 5, left 9 men on base. They have to have a better approach at the plate than what they are doing now.

**Tony Sipp- He threw 1 1/3 innings, but he still gave up 1 run (1 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 2 and now has a 3.25 ERA.

**Mike Gosling- He committed an error and that run scored, he threw 1 inning, gave up 1 run (0 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 1 and now has a 4.58 ERA. Mike committed his 1st error.

**Trevor Crowe- Committed his 3rd error of the season.

**Jerry Blevins- Jerry threw 2 innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 2, didn't strike anyone out and now has a 5.65 ERA.

**Kurt Suzuki- Committed his 4Th error of the season.

Indians record after 149 games in 2009: 61-88
Indians record after 149 games in 2008: 72-77
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 18-18
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 65

On Deck:

Wow, the Indians got swept by the Oakland Athletics. This truly is a low point of the season because this team simply can't adjust anymore. Too many young players who might be scared. Not only that, but the Indians also were swept in Minnesota, so the Indians finished off this road trip 0-7. If Eric Wedge doesn't get fired off of this, I won't know what to say. It already says alot when there have been many managerial changes this year, yet Wedge keeps his job, despite blundering his way to another disappointing season. Plus he now has a 557-564 career record as a manager, and this includes a season where he wins 96 games and a year he wins 93 games, yet he still has a below .500 record. That speaks volumes. Well, the Indians now open up a 3 game series with the Detroit Tigers, another struggling team right now. Game starts at 7:05 PM, airing on STO with Indians On Deck at 6:30 PM. Edwin Jackson (12-7, 3.37) will take on Justin Masterson (4-8, 4.49). WTAM 1100-AM will air the game on radio, can we win a game? Let's find out.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #148 9/19/09...Sowers Loses Game Early...Indians Couldn't Catch Up

B & G's #148 9/19/09

Cleveland Indians (61-86) Vs Oakland Athletics (69-78)
At Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, California
Saturday September 19Th, 2009

Jeremy Sowers (6-9, 4.49) Vs Gio Gonzales (5-6, 6.31)
Final Score: Oakland 8, Cleveland 4
W- Brad Kilby (1-0)
L- Jeremy Sowers (6-10)
S- Michael Wuertz (4)

Baseballs:

**Kurt Suzuki- Kurt finished the game 3-4 with a double, and his 14Th Home Run of the season, drove in his 79Th RBI, and he scored 3 runs. Kurt is hitting .271.

**Mark Ellis- Mark went 1-4 with a walk and he connected his 9Th Home Run of the year, drove in his 55Th run of the year and is now hitting .274.

**Nomar Garciaparra- Nomar went 2-5 at the plate and is hitting .278.

**Bobby Crosby- Bobby went 2-4 at the plate, he drove in 2 runs, giving him 29 RBIs and is hitting .227.

**Daric Barton- Daric went 2-3 with a walk and is hitting .243.

**Matt Carson- Picked up his first 2 career hits, he finished the day 2-4 and is hitting .286.

**Cliff Pennington- Cliff went 2-4 and drove in 2 runs, giving him 15 RBIs and is hitting .289.

**Brad Kilby- Brad did what had to do in 1 2/3 innings, without giving up any runs, he struck out 3, won his 1st game and has a 0.00 ERA.

**Jeff Gray- Jeff threw 2/3 of an inning, without giving up any runs and he now has a 1.71 ERA.

**Jerry Blevins- Jerry threw a scoreless inning, he struck out 1 and now has a 5.11 ERA.

**Michael Wuertz- Michael finished the game with his 4Th save, he threw a scoreless 1 1/3 innings, he walked 1, struck out 2 and now has a 2.80 ERA.

**Matt Laporta- Matt has started to tear the cover off again and it's great to see. He went 2-4 with a walk and is now hitting .262.

**Jamey Carroll- Jamey went 2-5 and drove in his 25Th RBI of the season, he is hitting .287.

**Trevor Crowe- Trevor went 2-4 and he drove in his 14Th run of the season. Crowe is hitting .230.

**Kelly Shoppach- Kelly went 1-4 and he drove in 2 runs, giving him 38 RBIs and he is hitting .219.

**Michael Brantley- Walked 2 times

**Tomo Ohka- Tomo threw 4 solid innings for the Indians. He did give up 2 runs (2 earned), but he gave up limited damage. He walked 1, didn't strike anyone out and now has a 5.45 ERA.

**Jensen Lewis- Jensen threw a scoreless inning, he walked 1, struck out 2 and now has a 4.27 ERA.

**Rafael Perez- Perez threw a scoreless inning, giving him a 7.33 ERA.

**Kerry Wood- Kerry threw a scoreless inning and he now has a 4.24 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Jeremy Sowers- Jeremy lasted just 1 + inning, he gave up 6 runs (6 earned), he walked 1, struck out 1 and now has a 4.95 ERA with 10 losses.

**Indians Offense- Again did nothing, 4 runs on 9 hits, they walked 6 times, struck out 9 and left 12 men on base. No clutch hitting.

**Shin-Soo Choo- Choo struck out 3 times.

**Michael Brantley- Committed his 1st error of the season.

**Gio Gonzales- Didn't do enough to win the game, he only threw 3 2/3 innings, giving up 3 runs (1 earned), what killed him was 5 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Gio gets the no decision and now has a 6.15 ERA.

**Bobby Crosby- Bobby committed his 8Th error of the season.

**Brad Ziegler- Brad gave up 1 run (1 earned) in 2/3 of an inning, putting the Indians back into the game. He now has a 3.15 ERA.

Indians record after 148 games in 2009: 61-87
Indians record after 148 games in 2008: 72-76
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 18-18
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 65

On Deck:

The Indians have now lost a season high 7 games and you have to ask yourself are the Indians even playing with pride? Now only do the Indians have a chance to finish this road trip 0-7, but they also have a chance to be swept by Oakland, a team on paper I felt the Indians had a better team than the Athletics, but the Athletics are not giving up, and I just feel the Indians are counting down the days until the season is over with. Sunday's game will air on STO, game starting at 4:10 PM with Indians On Deck at 3:30 PM. Fausto Carmona (3-11, 6.58) will take the mound, and he has a difficult task of just trying to find a way to stop the Athletics offense, who have been averaging over 6 runs a game during this winning streak. He will be opposed by Dana Eveland (1-3, 7.26). The game will air on WMMS 100.7-FM if you can't catch the game on TV with the Browns being on WTAM 1100-AM. Let's go Tribe, let's go Browns. Double win today.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #147 9/18/09...Anderson Dominates Tribe Offense...Loses 5Th In A Row

B & G's #147 9/18/09

Cleveland Indians (61-85) Vs Oakland Athletics (68-78)
At Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, California
Friday September 18Th, 2009

David Huff (10-7, 6.14) Vs Brett Anderson (9-10, 4.37)
Final Score: Oakland 2, Cleveland 1
W- Brett Anderson (10-10)
L- David Huff (10-8)
S- Brad Ziegler (7)

Baseballs:

**Brett Anderson- Brett dominated the Indians for 6 shutout innings, he walked 1 man, and struck out a career high 10. Brett won his 10Th game of the season and lowered his ERA to 4.21.

**Mark Ellis- Mark went out and finished the night 2-3 with driving in a run, his 54th RBI of the season. Mark is now hitting .274.

**Nomar Garciaparra- It doesn't matter what kind of season Nomar is having, he always hurts the Indians. He finished the night 2-4 with a double and he drove in his 16Th RBI of the season and even stole a base. Nomar is hitting .274 on the year.

**Rajai Davis- David went 2-3 with a walk and he stole his 40Th base, scoring 1 run. Davis is hitting .317.

**Kurt Suzuki- Kurt went 1-3 with a walk and he is hitting .268.

**Jeff Gray- He threw a scoreless 7Th inning, earning his 1st hold of the season and he struck out the side. Jeff has a 1.77 ERA.

**Craig Blesow- Craig threw a scoreless 8Th inning, earning his 14Th hold and he now has a 3.53 ERA.

**Brad Ziegler- He did give up 1 run (1 earned) in 1 inning, but he picked up the save and struck out 2. Brad now has a 3.05 ERA with 7 saves.

**David Huff- David threw very well and gave up one mistake pitch to Nomar in the 3rd inning, other than that, very effective going 6 innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 2, struck out 3 and now has a 5.98 ERA.

**Kelly Shoppach- Kelly got a rare start at DH, and he responded going 2-4 with a double. He is now hitting .218.

**Michael Brantley- Michael went 2-4 with a double and is now hitting .328.

**Shin-Soo Choo- Choo went 1-3 with a walk and he is hitting .302.

**Matt Laporta- Matt was the only player to drive in a run, his 18Th RBI of the season. Matt hit a late 2 out double to drive in a run and after going 1-4, he is hitting .255.

**Jess Todd- Jess threw a scoreless 7Th inning, he struck out 2 and now has a 9.87 ERA.

**Chris Perez- Chris threw a scoreless 8Th inning, he struck out 1 and now has a 4.09 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Indians Offense- The Indians struck out 15 times and walked just 1 time. Wow, good grief.

**C.B. Bucknor- How is that MLB still employs this idiot? The last strike call was ridiculous too. A low pitch that any other time would have been called a ball, he then made a late call to end the game. He truly is one of the worst umpires in the league and he should be fired.

Indians record after 147 games in 2009: 61-86
Indians record after 147 games in 2008: 72-75
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 18-18
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 65

On Deck:

Wow, this team finds a different way to lose every game. The offense has been struggling to say the least. It just seems like this team has given up, where as opposed to last year, they fought and fought, even when the season was over with. Oakland does not give up and now they are being awarded on a 5 game winning streak because of that. The Indians, meanwhile could finish this road trip 0-7 if they continue this pace. Saturday's game is not on TV, it will air on WTAM 1100-AM instead, it starts at 4:05 PM. Jeremy Sowers (6-9, 4.49) will try and change the tide so to speak. He will be opposed by Gio Gonzales (5-6, 6.31). Let's hope the Indians at least try.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #146 9/17/09...Suzuki Provides Offense As Tribe Loses 5 In A Row

B & G's #146 9/17/09

Cleveland Indians (61-84) Vs Oakland Athletics (67-78)
At Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, California
Thursday September 17Th, 2009

Justin Masterson (4-7, 4.25) Vs Clayton Mortensen (1-2, 6.75)
Final Score: Oakland 5, Cleveland 2
W- Clayton Mortensen (2-2)
L- Justin Masterson (4-8)
S- Andrew Bailey (25)

Baseballs:

**Kurt Suzuki- Kurt went 1-3 at the plate and hit the big shot, a 3 run Home Run to extend the lead at the time to 5-0. Kurt has 13 Home Runs, 78 RBIs and is now hitting .267 after a 1-3 with a walk evening.

**Adam Kennedy- Adam went 2-5 with 2 doubles and he drove in his 56Th RBI now hitting .288.

**Cliff Pennington- Cliff went 1-2 with 2 walks and he hit a triple and is now hitting .289.

**Jack Cust- Jack went 1-2 with a walk and he is hitting .235.

**Clayton Mortensen- He was a bit erratic, but did enough, he threw 5 innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 3, struck out 4 and now has a 6.12 ERA with his 2Nd win of the year.

**Ryan Sweeney- Ryan went 0-2 with 1 run scored, 2 walks and he drove in his 49Th RBI. Ryan is now hitting .287.

**Brad Kilby- Brad threw a scoreless inning, earning his 1st hold and now has a 0.00 ERA.

**Craig Breslow- Craig threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings, earning his 13Th hold of the year and he now has a 3.59 ERA.

**Michael Wuertz- Michael threw 2/3 of an inning without giving up a run. He now has 22 holds, he walked 1, struck out 2 and now has a 2.85 ERA.

**Andrew Bailey- Picked up his 25Th save of the year, he threw 1 inning, and struck out the side. Andrew now has a 1.95 ERA.

**Lou Marson- Lou went 3-4 with a double and is now hitting .265. He deserves to play more.

**Shin-Soo Choo- Choo finished the night 1-2 with a walk and he got hit by a pitch, he is hitting .302.

**Trevor Crowe- Trevor went 1-4 with a triple and he drove in a run, his 13Th RBI of the year and is hitting .227.

**Jensen Lewis- Jensen threw 2 scoreless innings, he struck out 3 and now has a 4.34 ERA.

**Mike Gosling- Mike threw 2/3 of an inning, without giving up a run, he walked 1 and now has a 4.82 ERA.

**Jose Veras- Jose threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings, he walked 2, struck out 1 and now has a 5.72 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Justin Masterson- Justin threw 4 innings, he gave up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 4, struck out 6 and now has a 4.49 ERA.

**Indians Offense- 2 runs on 6 hits, they walked 4 times, struck out 9 and left 8 men on base.

**Umpires- C.B. Buchnor and Mike Everitt both made awful calls at 2Nd base and 1st base respectively. In fact if Mike, the 2Nd base umpire had made the correct call, and called the runner out at 2Nd base, Suzuki never would have hit a 3 run Home Run. I wish the Indians players would argue a bit more, even if they do get thrown out of the game. Luis Valbuena should have been chirping that call all inning long since he was the one who got hit by the hand on the tag he made at 2Nd base. I actually think the umpires want the Indians to lose 100 games.

Indians record after 146 games in 2009: 61-85
Indians record after 146 games in 2008: 72-74
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 18-17
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 64

On Deck:

I don't know why I still care anymore. Eric Wedge has clearly lost this team and the very first day after the season is over should be fired. Three weeks ago, this team played like they had a direction and they finished off a great month of August, but now they are 3-13 in the month of September, and they look like they have no real shot at getting back to .500. So there is another game Friday night, the countdown to the end of the regular season continues. Game starts at 10:05 PM, will air on STO, with Indians On deck at 9:30 PM. David Huff (10-7, 6.14) will try and win his team leading 11Th game and will try and play the role of "stopper". He will be opposed by Brett Anderson (9-10, 4.37). The Indians game will air on WTAM 1100-AM.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #145 9/16/09....Bad Defense And Overall Sloppy Play Costs Tribe Game

B & G's #145 9/16/09

Cleveland Indians (61-83) Vs Minnesota Twins (73-72)
At Hubert H. Cuddyer is now hitting .274.

**Joe Mauer- Joe went 2-3 with a walk, he drove in 2 runs, giving him 87 RBIs. Joe is now hitting .374.

**Nick Blackburn- Nick threw 6 1/3 innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 3 and now has a 4.34 ERA, winning his 10Th game of the year.

**Jose Mirales- Jose went 2-3 with a sacrifice fly, he hit 2 doubles and even drove in his 7Th RBI of the year. Jose is hitting .361.

**Matt Tolbert- Matt went 2-4 at the plate with a double and is now hitting .206.

**Denard Span- Denard went 2-5 at the plate, he drove in his 59Th run of the season and is hitting .307.

**Matt Guerrier- Natt threw 2/3 of an inning, without giving up a run, he did give up some hits, but he now has a 2.22 ERA.

**Joe Nathan- Joe probably wasn't supposed to get into the game, but he did and he closed it out by striking out the final 2 hitters. He has a 2.25 ERA.

**Matt Laporta- Matt finished the day 3-4 and he was the only true offense today. He hit his 6Th Home Run of the season, drove in 3 runs, giving him 17 RBIs and he is hitting .261.

**Kelly Shoppach- Kelly finished the game 2-4 and is hitting .214.

**Shin-Soo Choo- Choo went 2-4 at the plate with a double and he is hitting .301.

**Michael Brantley- Michael went 2-5 at the plate and he is hitting .328.

**Luis Valbuena- Luis went 1-3 with a walk and he is hitting .238.

**Jess Todd- Jess threw a scoreless 7Th inning and now has a 10.47 ERA.

**Rafael Perez- Raffy P threw a scoreless 8Th inning and he has a 7.50 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Aaron Laffey- Aaron committed his 1st error of the season, he threw 6 innings, giving up 7 runs (6 earned), he walked 3, didn't strike anyone out and lost his 6Th game of the year. Aaron now has a 4.09 ERA.

**Indians Defense- Made some boneheaded plays, missing cutoff men, missing plays they should have made that allowed the Twins to move up an extra base. They truly now look like a AAA team, and two weeks ago, that wasn't the case. Shame on them.

**Indians Offense- Had some bad at bats when the game was on the line and they had runners on base. 3 runs on 12 hits, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts, and leaving 10 men on base.

**Jesse Crain- Jesse didn't retire anyone, he gave up a hit, walked 1 and is lucky he didn't give up a run. He still has a 5.23 ERA.

Indians record after 145 games in 2009: 61-84
Indians record after 145 games in 2008: 71-74
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 18-17
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 64

On Deck:

This was such a disastrous series for the Indians. The Twins, without Justin Morneau came out and destroyed us in every way. It's bad when guys like Nick Punto, who is a .232 hitter walks on 5 pitches, then later scores. I just feel that Eric Wedge has finally lost the players now, they are tuning him out, I think some of the players are counting down to the season being over. If that's the case, why should we care anymore? Very frustrating to see, another series tomorrow evening, this time in Oakland to start a 4 game series. Game starts at 10:05 PM, airing on STO with Indians On Deck starting at 9:30 PM. Justin Masterson (4-7, 4.25) will take the mound and be opposed by Clayton Mortensen (1-2, 6.75). The game will air on WTAM 1100-AM, let's go for the series win, at least pretend to care.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #144 9/15/09...Twins Rally Late To Win Again

B & G's #144 9/15/09

Cleveland Indians (61-82) Vs Minnesota Twins (72-72)
At Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Tuesday September 15Th, 2009

Fausto Carmona (3-10, 6.48) Vs Scott Baker (13-8, 4.33)
Final Score: Minnesota 5, Cleveland 4
W- Jon Raush (5-3)
L- Fausto Carmona (3-11)
S- Joe Nathan (40)

Baseballs:

**Nick Punto- Nick was certainly the thorn on the Indians side, he finished up 3-4 and drove in 2 runs, giving him 32 RBIs and he is hitting .232.

**Brian Buscher- Brian went 1-2 with a walk and he got hit by a pitch, but he drove in the go ahead run, giving him 12 RBIs. Brian is now hitting .241.

**Joe Mauer- Well, the Indians did retire him once tonight, he went 2-3 with a walk and he drove in his 85Th RBI and is hitting .373.

**Orlando Cabrera- Orlando went 2-4, he hit his 7Th Home Run of the season to tie the game and now has 61 RBIs. Orlando is hitting .271.

**Scott Baker- Well, he didn't get the win, but he did enough to not get the loss. He worked 5 1/3 innings, he gave up 3 runs (3 earned), he walked 2, struck out 5 and picked up the no decision. Scott now has a 4.35 ERA.

**Delmon Young- His double was a bit of a gift since the ball chopped over Jhonny Peralta's glove, he finished the night 1-3 with a walk and is hitting .265.

**Jon Raush- Jon threw 1 1/3 of scoreless innings, he didn't walk anyone, nor did he strike out anyone and now he has a 4.04 ERA.

**Jose Mijares- Jose threw 1/3 of scoreless innings, he earned his 22Nd hold, striking out 1 and now has a 2.09 ERA.

**Matt Guerrier- Matt threw a scoreless 8Th inning, earning his 29Th hold and now has a 2.24 ERA.

**Joe Nathan- Joe earned his 40Th save of the season, he did give up 1 run (1 earned) in 1 inning with the Home Run, but other than that, he did fine. Joe now has a 2.28 ERA.

**Matt Laporta- Matt went 2-4 at the plate, including hitting his 5Th Home Run of the season, he did drive in 2 runs, he now has 14 RBIs and is hitting .246.

**Jamey Carroll- Jamey went 2-4 and is hitting .295.

**Asdrubal Cabrera- Asdrubal went 1-3 with a walk and he is hitting .308.

**Travis Hafner- Hafner went 1-3 with a double and he got hit by a pitch. He is hitting .276.

**Trevor Crowe- Trevor went 1-3 with a walk and a stolen base. He is hitting .225.

**Tony Sipp- Tony threw a scoreless inning, he struck out 1 and now has a 3.12 ERA.

**Jose Veras- Jose threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings, he didn't walk anyone, struck out 3 and now has a 5.89 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Fausto Carmona- Fausto was okay, but he also deserved this loss. He lasted 5 1/3 innings, giving up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 3, struck out 3 and now has a 6.56 ERA, losing his 11Th game of the year.

**Matt Laporta- Matt committed his 3rd error of the season.

**Metrodome- That chopper that turned into a double was ridiculous. The one good thing is there is just 1 game left for the Indians to be in the Metrodome.

**Ron Mahay- The one hitter he faced, he couldn't get out, instead he got hit by a pitch. He didn't give up a run, but the lefty didn't help matters.

Indians record after 144 games in 2009: 61-83
Indians record after 144 games in 2008: 71-73
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 18-18
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 64

On Deck:

Just another way to lose this game, the Indians have had a horrible September so far, after finishing over .500 in August. Now they are a season high 22 games under .500. Is this the manager's doing, the player's doing, or both? I say both, I mean why give Choo the day off and put Matt Laporta in a new position in the outfield? If Choo had played in his normal spot in RF, I have no doubt Brian Buscher would have been gunned down at home, which turned out to be a turning point in the game. So, the Twins will try and sweep the Indians, or the Indians will try and salvage the third game, whichever way you look at it. Wednesday's game starts at 1:10 PM, airing on STO, with Indians On Deck at 12:30 PM. Aaron Laffey (7-5, 3.79) will take on Nick Blackburn (9-11, 4.39). The game will air on WTAM 1100-AM so let's get this win Tribe.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #143 09/14/09....Tribe Bullpen Blows Win For Sowers

B & G's #143 9/14/09

Cleveland Indians (61-81) Vs Minnesota Twins (71-72)
At Hubert H. Michael went 2-4 and he has 75 RBIs, hitting .273.

**Jason Kubel- Jason came in to pinch hit and he responded hitting his 23rd Home Run of the season, he now has 84 RBIs and a .305 average. Get this, Eric Wedge decided to pitch Jason and not walk him. Yeah that plan worked.

**Joe Mauer- Joe went 3-3 with a walk and he is hitting .371.

**Carl Pavano- The former Tribe pitcher threw 6 solid innings, he gave up 3 runs (3 earned), he walked 1, struck out 4 and now has a 4.91 ERA.

**Matt Tolbert- Matt went 2-3 with a walk and he is hitting .201.

**Delmon Young- Delmon finished the night 2-4 and is hitting .264.

**Nick Punto- Nick went 1-3 with a walk and is now hitting .225.

**Jessie Crain- Jessie threw a scoreless 7Th inning, he didn't walk anyone, struck out 1 and now has a 5.23 ERA.

**Ron Mahay- Ron threw a scoreless 8Th inning, his team backed him up with 6 runs scored in the 8Th inning, and he has 2 wins with a 4.57 ERA.

**Joe Nathan- Joe picked up his 39Th save, worked a scoreless 9Th inning, he walked 1, struck out 2 and now has a 2.16 ERA.

**Jeremy Sowers- This was Jeremy's best start of the year, he threw 7 shutout innings, he walked 2, struck out 2 and now has a 4.49 ERA.

**Shin-Soo Choo- Choo went 2-4 and hit his 16Th Home Run of the season, drove in his 78Th RBI and now has a .301 average.

**Trevor Crowe- Trevor hit his 1st Major League Home Run, a 2 run shot, giving him 12 RBIs and after going 1-4, he is hitting .222.

**Lou Marson- Lou went 1-2 with 2 walks and is hitting .222.

**Jamey Carroll- Jamey went 1-3 with a walk, he is hitting .292.

**Jensen Lewis- Jensen finished off the 8Th inning, he threw 2/3 of an inning and now has a 4.50 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Chris Perez- Chris finally lost it tonight, he worked 1/3 of an inning, giving up 4 runs (4 earned), he gave up 2 Home Runs and now has a 4.17 ERA.

**Tony Sipp- Tony wasn't good either, he didn't retire anyone, he gave up 2 runs (1 earned), he walked 1, didn't strike anyone out and now has a 3.21 ERA.

**Asdrubal Cabrera- Started the 8Th inning by committing his 10Th error of the season.

**Luis Valbuena- Luis struck out 3 times.

Indians record after 143 games in 2009: 61-82
Indians record after 143 games in 2008: 70-73
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 18-17
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 64

On Deck:

Well, no .500 finish this season, and quite frankly, I am not sure when the Indians will win again, certainly not tomorrow night, game starts at 8:10 PM, airing on STO. Fausto Carmona (3-10, 6.48) will take on "Indians Killer" himself Scott Baker (13-8, 4.33). The game will air on WTAM 1100-AM.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #142 9/13/09...Tribe Gets Shut Down Again

B & G's #142 9/13/09

Kansas City Royals (56-86) Vs Cleveland Indians (61-80)
At Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio
Sunday September 13Th, 2009

Kyle Davies (7-9, 5.54) Vs Carlos Carrasco (0-1, 12.38)
Final Score: Kansas City 7, Cleveland 0
W- Kyle Davies (8-9)
L- Carlos Carrasco (0-2)

Baseballs:

**John Buck- He started things by hitting his 7Th Home Run of the season, he drove in 2 runs, giving him 33 RBIs and he is hitting .217.

**Kyle Davies- Yes, he walked 6 men, but he also gave up just 1 hit and threw 6 shut out innings, he struck out 3, won his 8Th game and now has a 5.27 ERA.

**David Dejesus- David went 3-5 with a double and he is now hitting .280.

**Mitch Maier- Mitch went 2-4 and he drove in his 25Th RBI and is now hitting .251.

**Willie Bloomquist- Willie went 2-5 at the plate, he drove in his 29Th RBI of the season and he is hitting .260.

**Josh Anderson- Josh went 1-3 with a walk and scored 2 runs. He is hitting .245.

**Mike Jacobs- Mike went 1-4 with a walk and he drove in his 55Th RBI, hitting .235.

**Roman Colon- 2 scoreless innings, he walked 1, struck out 2 and now has a 5.06 ERA.

**Carlos Rosa- Finished up the game throwing a scoreless 9Th inning and he now has a 0.00 ERA.

**Jhonny Peralta- Jhonny went 0-1 with 3 walks and he is hitting .275.

**Michael Brantley- Michael went 0-2 with 2 walks and is hitting .364.

**Shin-Soo Choo- Choo picked up the first hit, he finished 1-4 and is hitting .299.

**Matt Laporta- Matt finished 1-4 and is hitting .238.

**Rafael Perez- Threw a scoreless 8Th inning and now has a 7.68 ERA.

1/2 Baseball, 1/2 Goofball:

**Carlos Carrasco- Carlos keeps getting better each start, that's a good thing, but he also committed an error, causing an unearned run. He threw 6 innings, giving up 5 runs (4 earned), he walked 1, struck out 3 and now has a 9.64 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Indians Offense- For the 2Nd game in 3 days, the Indians hit absolutely nothing. A day after scoring 13 runs, to me that is unacceptable, especially against a team like the Royals, a team that is below you in the standings. But it is what it is, 0 runs, 2 hits, they walked 7 times, struck out 5 times.

**Mike Gosling- Mike didn't help matters, he gave up 1 run (1 earned) in 1 inning, he walked 1, struck out 1 and now has a 5.00 ERA.

**Kerry Wood- Kerry gave up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 1, struck out 1 and now has a 4.32 ERA.

**Andy Marte- Committed his 3rd error of the season.

Indians record after 142 games in 2009: 61-81
Indians record after 142 games in 2008: 69-73
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 18-17
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 63

On Deck:

Well, if the Indians were to finish off 2009 like they did in 2008, then the Indians would have to win their final 20 games. I guarantee that won't happen, at least it won't if this offense continues to play like this. What's worse is this team doesn't dominate anymore at home. I'd like to see that change, somehow next season, take advantage of a ballpark you play 81 games during the year. Having said that, the Indians are heading for a 7 game road trip, they start a 3 game series with Minnesota on Monday evening at 8:10 PM, airing on STO, with Indians On Deck at 7:30 PM. Jeremy Sowers (6-9, 4.78) will take on our old friend Carl Pavano (12-11, 4.92). The game will air on WTAM 1100-AM, let's get this job done and win a game.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #141 9/12/09...6 Run 6Th Inning Leads Tribe To Victory

B & G's #141 9/12/09

Kansas City Royals (56-85) Vs Cleveland Indians (60-80)
At Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio
Saturday September 12Th, 2009

Luke Hochevar (6-9, 6.10) Vs David Huff (9-7, 6.23)
Final Score: Cleveland 13, Kansas City 6
W- David Huff (10-7)
L- Luke Hochevar (6-10)

Baseballs:

**Jhonny Peralta- Jhonny finished the day 2-4 and drove in 4 runs with a double. Choo is hitting .300.

**Asdrubal Cabrera- Cabrera finished the night 2-4 with a walk, and 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs, giving him 63 RBIs and is hitting .313.

**Andy Marte- Andy finished up 1-2 with 3 walks, he drove in his 18Th run and is hitting .237.

**Trevor Crowe- Trevor went 2-5 at the plate with a double and is hitting .221.

**Niuman Romero- Picked up his 1st Major League hit, going 1-1 and is hitting .167 this year.

**Jensen Lewis- Threw a scoreless 7Th inning, struck out 2 and now has a 4.55 ERA.

**Rafael Perez- Perez threw 1/3 of an inning, finishing up the game and he now has a 7.88 ERA.

**Yuniesky Betancourt- Betancourt finished the evening 2-2, he is hitting .241.

**Willie Bloomquist- Willie finished the night 2-5 and drove in 2 runs, giving him 28 RBIs and is hitting .259.

**David DeJesus- David went 2-3 at the plate and is hitting .277.

**Alberto Callaspo- Callaspo went 2-4 and drove in his 58Th RBI with a double. Callaspo is hitting .299.

**Billy Butler- Billy went 1-4 with a walk and he drove in his 78Th RBI of the season. Billy is hitting .304.

Goofballs:

**Luke Hochevar- Luke lasted 5 innings, he gave up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 3, struck out 6 and now has a 6.23 ERA with 10 losses.

**Dusty Hughes- Dusty was met with a rude awakening, lasting 1/3 of an inning, giving up 3 runs, (3 earned), he walked 1, struck out 1 and now has a 4.50 ERA.

**Victor Marte- Couldn't do much better than Dusty, he survived 2/3 of an inning, giving up 3 runs (2 earned), he walked 1, didn't strike anyone out and now has a 10.80 ERA.

**Mike Jacobs- Struck out 3 times.

**Yuiesky Betancourt- Committed his 13Th error of the season, allowing an unearned run to score.

**Jess Todd- I think it's become more clear that Todd isn't quite ready for the Major leagues yet, he threw 1 2/3 innings, gave up 3 runs (3 earned), he walked 2, struck out 4, and now has a 11.15 ERA.

Indians record after 141 games in 2009: 61-80
Indians record after 141 games in 2008: 69-72
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 18-17
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 63

On Deck:

Well, I guess we can say when the Indians score runs, they surely score runs. I think even Kerry Wood would be scratching his head over this, let's just hope this is a trend to at least be more consistent. The Indians have a chance to take the series, and it takes place tomorrow afternoon, starting at 1:05 PM, airing on STO and WKYC-TV3. Kyle Davies (7-9, 5.54), he will take on Carlos Carrasco (0-1, 12.38). The game will air on WMMS 100.7-FM because WTAM 1100-AM will air the Browns-Vikings game, so let's go Tribe. Let's go Browns and make this a double win.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #140 9/11/09...Tribe Loses 4 In A Row To The Streaking Royals

B & G's #140 9/11/09

Kansas City Royals (55-85) Vs Cleveland Indians (60-79)
At Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio
Friday September 11Th, 2009....WE Remember

Zack Greinke (13-8, 2.22) Vs Justin Masterson (4-7, 4.40)
Final Score in 12 innings: Kansas City 2, Cleveland 1
W- Jamey Wright (2-5)
L- Jose Veras (4-3)
S- Joakim Soria (25)

Baseballs:

**Zack Greinke- Zack threw 7 strong innings, he gave up 1 run (1 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 6 and now has a 2.19 ERA, with a no decision.

**Miguel Olivo- He has owned Indians pitching this year, he finished the night 2-4 with his 19Th Home Run of the year, driving in his 51st run. Miguel is now hitting .248.

**David DeJesus- David was the defensive star of the game, throwing out 2 runners late in the game to keep the score tied. He also finished up 1-4 with a walk and is hitting .275.

**Alberto Callaspo- Alberto finished the night 1-4 with a walk and a double. He is hitting .297.

**Kyle Farnsworth- 2 scoreless innings, he walked 1, struck out 3 and now has a 4.81 ERA.

**Jamey Wright- Jamey won his 2Nd game, he threw 2 scoreless innings, he walked 2, struck out 2 and now has a 4.73 ERA.

**Joakim Soria- Joakim earned his 25Th save of the season, striking out 2 and now has a 2.54 ERA.

**Travis Hafner- Travis had 3 hits tonight, he finished up 3-5 and he drove in his 42Nd run of the year, Travis is now hitting .284.

**Justin Masterson- Had some base runners early on, but he only gave up 1 run (1 earned) in 6 innings, he walked 4, struck out 4 and now has a 4.25 ERA.

**Shin-Soo Choo- Choo finished the night 1-3 with a triple and 2 walks. He scored the only run the Indians had and he is hitting .298.

**Jhonny Peralta- Jhonny went 2-5 and he is hitting .273.

**Tony Sipp- Tony threw 2 scoreless innings, he didn't walk anyone and struck out 2. Tony lowered his ERA to 2.94.

**Chris Perez- Chris threw 2 scoreless innings, he walked 1, struck out 3 and now has a 3.47 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Jose Veras- It was strange to me not seeing Kerry Wood, the closer come in after Chris Perez, but we get this guy instead, who probably won't even be on the team next season. He threw 2 innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 2, but ultimately he gave up the Home Run and lost his 3rd game. Veras has a 6.12 ERA.

**Indians Offense- Well, they sure had their chances, that 2Nd time Cabrera got run down, he never should have been sent. DeJesus was playing very shallow and you have to be able to see what is going on as a 3rd base coach, and I just think it was too risky sending him and he wound up being out. So tonight, 1 run, on 8 hits, they had 3 walks, and 13 strikeouts. So the Indians have now scored 1 run in their last 21 innings.

**Luis Valbuena- Struck out 3 times

**Lou Marson- Struck out 3 times and after his 0-4 evening, he is hitting .200.

Indians record after 140 games in 2009: 60-80
Indians record after 140 games in 2008: 68-72
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 18-17
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 62

On Deck:

The Royals swept the Tigers, so they had to have felt good about themselves with their ace pitching. The Indians survived Greinke, but couldn't get to the bullpen. So right now they are going through their troubles too, and now comes the time where the Indians must find a way to get into a groove the final 22 games of the season. A team should never, ever be counting down the days for the season to be over with. I am concerned that might happen to the Indians. Tomorrow is another game with the Royals, airing at 7:05 PM at STO and WKYC-TV3. Indians On Deck airing at 6:30 PM on STO. Luke Hochevar (6-9, 6.10) will take on David Huff (9-7, 6.23). WTAM 1100-AM will air the game if you can't see it on TV. There is also a big showdown with THE Ohio State Buckeyes taking on USC, airing on ESPN at 8:00 PM, so there will be plenty of sports on Saturday night. Go Tribe, go Buckeyes, and God Bless the families that have lost loved ones on September 11Th, 2001. Never forget the brave souls that lost their lives on that horrible day.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source

B & G's #139 9/9/09...A Wasted 24 Hours For Tribe

B & G's #139 9/9/09

Texas Rangers (78-60) Vs Cleveland Indians (60-78)
At Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio
Wednesday September 9Th, 2009

Scott Feldman (15-4, 3.62) Vs Fausto Carmona (3-9, 6.08)
Final Score: Texas 10, Cleveland 0
W- Scott Feldman (16-4)
L- Fausto Carmona (3-10)

Baseballs:

**Esteban German- Wow, a guy with a .150 average coming in has a career day, going 5-5 with a double and he drove in his 3rd run of the season. He is hitting .320, jumping 170 points, not bad in a day's worth.

**Scott Feldman- As good as the Rangers offense was, the Indians still couldn't hit off of him. 7 shutout innings, just giving up 5 hits, he walked 2, struck out 5. Scott won his 16Th game and now has a 3.46 ERA.

**Marlon Byrd- Marlon got the ball rolling again, hit a 3 run shot, his 17Th Home Run of the season, he drove in 4 runs, giving him 76 RBIs. Byrd is now hitting .287 after a 2-5 afternoon.

**Elvis Andrus- Elvis went 3-5 at the plate, drove in his 32Nd run and played some outstanding defense. He is hitting .277 on the year.

**Ivan Rodriguez- Pudge went 2-5, he hit his 10Th Home Run of the season in the 1st inning, he drove in 3 runs, giving him 48 RBIs. Pudge is now hitting .255.

**David Murphy- David went 2-5 and he drove in his 44Th run of the season. He is hitting .270.

**Chris Davis- Chris went 1-4 with a walk and is hitting .215.

**C.J. Wilson- Making his 3rd appearance in a span of 24 hours, he threw a scoreless 8Th inning, striking out 2 and he now has a 3.20 ERA.

**Willie Eyre- Wrapped up the game, he threw a scoreless 9Th and now has a 2.92 ERA.

**Luis Valbuena- The only Indian who had answers against Feldman, he finished the day 2-4 with a double and he is hitting .244.

**Jensen Lewis- Jensen threw 3 1/3 innings of shutout ball. He didn't walk anyone and struck out 1. Jensen looked very good and now he has a 4.64 ERA.

**Mike Gosling- 4 shutout innings for Mike. He walked 1, struck out 2 and he now has a 4.76 ERA.

**Tony Sipp- Tony threw the final 2/3 of an inning, he struck out 2, gave up a hit and now has a 3.13 ERA.

**Trevor Crowe- Trevor finished the day 1-2 with a walk and is hitting .213.

Goofballs:

**Fausto Carmona- Wow, what else can I say? This was the worst start Fausto threw in quite some time and the shortest outing for any Indians starter since Paul Byrd threw 2/3 of an inning in 2006. Fausto gave up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 1, struck out 1, gave up 2 Home Runs and now has a 6.48 ERA.

**Rafael Perez- Perez committed his 1st error and it got ugly from there. He only lasted 1/3 of an inning, giving up 5 runs (3 earned), he now has a 7.94 ERA.

**Indians Offense- They were shut out today and what was worst was the lineup Eric Wedge used. Asdrubal Cabrera felt a bit banged up, I understand that, but then why rest Michael Brantley, who has an 8 game hitting streak? Oh well, who cares anymore? 0 runs, 6 hits, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts, leaving 8 men on base.

**Esteban German- Committed his 3rd error of the season.

Indians record after 139 games in 2009: 60-79
Indians record after 139 games in 2008: 68-71
Indians record in one run games in 2009: 18-16
Indians Quality Starts in 2009: 61

On Deck:

I have nothing else to say about today's game, only 23 games left. Eric Wedge is talking about moral victories and how this team kept coming back. True, but before he never believed in moral victories, but he does now? The bottom line is we have 24 games left and it's possible they are just counting down to the days. I have said it before, but seeing Texas and Cleveland are miles apart, and I am sad to see that. Just two short years ago, the Indians were on the verge of reaching the World Series until they collapsed in a big wall. Now, the Rangers have the opportunity to sweep the Indians and I don't see how they can't. Game starts at 12:05 PM, will air on STO, with Indians On deck at 11:30 AM. Scott Feldman (15-4, 3.62) will take on Fausto Carmona (3-9, 6.08). The game will air on WTAM 1100-AM, let's hope I am wrong and the Indians salvage this game with a win. But I think I am right.

Subscribe to The Tribe Source
