During the eleven years that I have been delivering speeches at the Riverside City County meetings, I had the honor to meet and know well ex-Councilman Ameal Moore. He died a few days ago.

What a gentleman! What an honest person! What an excellent politician, doing so much for our City!

HUGO CHAVEZ DEATH

2013-03-05T15:43:00.000-08:00

With the death of Communist Hugo Chavez in Venezuela, the big interrogation will be how his successor(s) will handle the country's relationship with the U.S. Venezuela, under Chavez, has been supporting the Cuban regimen, exporting two-third of the gasoline consumed by the Caribbean Island. With Fidel aging and very sick, and Raul having no charisma at all, this event could be the beginning of the end of the Communist domination in Cuba. Will the Army respect the Constitution?

OFFICER CRAIN'S PARTNER RECOVERING

2013-02-15T08:44:00.000-08:00

RPD Lt. Guy Thousand has identified the officer injured who was in the patrol car when him and his trainer Michael Crain were ambushed by Christopher Dorner.

The injured officer is Andrew Tachias. Andrew was born in 1985 in West Covina. He attended the University of California, Riverside where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree. While at UCR, he served as a Community Service Officer.

In September 2009, Andrew was hired by the Inglewood Police Department and later attended the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Academy as a Police Officer Trainee. Andrew graduated from the Academy in February 2010 and was assigned to patrol. He lateral led to the Riverside Police Department and was sworn in as a police officer on December 21, 2012. He is assigned to Field Operations, Patrol Division for Field Training.

Officer Tachias is in stable condition at a local hospital recovering from his injuries.

ANOTHER FALLEN HERO

2013-02-14T09:52:00.000-08:00

Deputy Sheriff Jeremiah MacKay mastered
bagpipes. He played during the funeral
services of Officer Ryan Bonaminio.

Around the cabin in Big Bear where Christopher Dorner was hidden, a gun fight took place between him and San Bernardino County Deputy Sheriffs. Detective Jeremiah Mac Kay, 35, and Deputy Alan Collins were hit. Both were translated to Loma Linda Hospital, where Mac Kay was pronounced dead, and Collins is going through several surgeries. Two weeks ago, his wife gave him a boy.

Ironically, Mac Kay told an AP reporter early in the day:

“This one you just never know if the guy’s going to pop out, or where he’s going to pop out,” Mac Kay said. “We’re hoping this comes to a close without more casualties. The best thing would be for him to give up.” Mac Kay was 15 years with the force. He loved music and sang too. He was very savvy in computers. He cared very much for children, investigating those who were charged of abuse.

Our communities are mourning the death of the heroes, who gave their lives to protect us. We pray for the fast recovery of those who were injured.

Slain RPD Officer Michael Crain, 34.

Riverside Police Lieutenant Guy Toussaint sent to The Truth a biography of Officer Michael Crain, 34, who was killed on Magnolia and Arlington, Riverside.

Born: April 9, 1978
Hire Date: August 24, 2001 - End of Watch: February 7, 2013

OFFICER MICHAEL CRAIN

Officer Michael Crain was born in Anaheim, California to Stephen and Cindy Crain on April 9, 1978. He was the oldest of three children and had a brother, Jason, and sister, Leslie. He was raised in the Riverside area and graduated from Redlands High School in 1996.

After high school, Mike attended Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa for a year prior to enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He served two deployment tours in Kuwait as a rifleman in the 15^th Marine Expeditionary Unit, 3^rd Battalion 1^st Marines. He was a squad leader, and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. He was then stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA, where he taught Military Operations in Urban Terrain. During his military service, Mike was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 1 star, a Certificate of Commendation, and the Rifle Marksmanship Badge.

After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, Mike joined the Riverside Police Department. He graduated from the Riverside Sheriff’s Academy, class #152, and was sworn in as a Riverside Police Officer on August 24, 2001.

Following his graduation from the Field Training Program, he was assigned to Field Operations as a patrol officer. During his 11 year tenure with the Riverside Police Department, Mike served as a patrol officer, and was assigned to the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team. He had also served as a Helicopter Observer, a Field Training Officer, a Firearms Instructor, and had been assigned to the University Neighborhood Enhancement Team (UNET).

Mike had a big heart, and enjoyed spending time with his wife, Regina, son, Ian (age 10), and daughter Kaitlyn (age 4). He loved attending dance recitals with his daughter and coaching his son’s baseball team. He also loved his classic 1970 Chevy Nova, which he spent his spare time restoring. Mike’s family and friends knew his usually straight face hid a huge personality. He made an unforgettable impression on everyone he met.

During the early morning of February 7, 2013, Officer Michael Crain was gunned down in an apparent ambush while he was on patrol and parked at a stoplight with a trainee officer. Mike will be missed by his family, friends, and his community.

Officer Crain was killed in the line of duty on Thursday, February 7, 2013, when he and his partner were ambushed while on routine patrol. The second Officer was seriously wounded during the assault. Officer Crain was 34 years old and an 11 year veteran of the Riverside Police Department. He served two deployment tours in Kuwait as a rifleman in the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, 3rd Battalion 1st Marines. Officer Crain leaves behind a wife and two children.

SHOOTINGS ALL OVER THE PLACE

2013-02-08T10:29:00.001-08:00

We are praying for the soul of a Riverside Police Officer and those of the young couple Monica Quan and Keith Lawrence who were killed by ex Los Angeles cop Christopher Jordan Dorner, 33 years old. Another officer in Corona was lucky when a bullet shot by Dorner only slightly hit his neck. The partner of the officer who was slain was taken to RCH and went surgery. They were ambushed. Previous RPD officer killed in the line of duty was Ryan Bonaminio, on November 7, 2010. His killer Earl Ellis Green, 46, was sentenced to death.

The Nissan Titan truck driven by Dorner was found burned in Big Bear. Two women were hit by police bullets, when they were driving a truck similar to Doner's. They were delivering papers. It was a case of mistaken identity. The older lady is in intensive care, the younger one has been treated for lessen injuries.

Christopher Dorner

This tragedy started in 2009, when Monica's father Randy Quan, a retired L.A. Police Captain was involved in the review process that ultimately led to Doser's dismissal. Dorner complained that Quan and others did not fairly represent him at the review hearing. Dorner falsely accused his trainer of wrongdoing.

Quan and Keith
were going to get
married in a week.

Dorner said it was the LAPD' fault that he lost his law enforcement and Navy careers, as well as his relationships with family and close friends. Dorner wrote a manifesto promising revenge against Police and relatives. It is obvious that 4 years later, Dorner snapped.

A manhunt is under way in the very cold mountains of San Bernardino/Big Bear area and surroundings, where the fugitive is supposed to be hidden. Dorter is an expert shooter and carries plenty of weapons and ammunition.

GOD IS WATCHING US

2013-01-31T14:26:00.001-08:00

People killing people. Violence and sex seems to take over of our society. It is horrifying to read the papers and watch T.V. today. There is blood and hatred taking the place of peace and love.

We are separating ourselves from God. The institution of the family is in shatters. Corruption and child abuse are on the rise.

Our Lord is watching carefully. One day HE will snap, and we all are going to pay for our sins.

Let's change for the better, before is too late.

A COMPLAINT AGAINST CITY ATTORNEY

2012-10-31T11:23:00.000-07:00

Riverside Ward 4 Councilman Paul Davis informed The Truth Publication that City Attorney Greg Priamos had not authority to direct Police Officer Nick Sahagun to stop a speaker if he/she goes over the 3-minutes limit. Officer Sahagun so declared in his report, regarding the incident involving Karen Wright, affirmed Davis. City officials are investigating the case (who are they?) What would happen to CA Priamos if he gave instructions to Officer Sahagun?

"We Endorse You and You Always Be Innocent."

2012-10-30T14:02:00.000-07:00

The same people who are endorsing William Baily for Mayor at the Riverside Unified School District "found out" that the mayoral candidate didn't do anything wrong during a class calling "crazy ladies" to the women who regularly speak at the City Council meetings. Bailey is a teacher at Poly High School. Activist Viviam Moreno filed the complaint and another one with the city on November 16. (Same result.)

THE RIVERSIDE CITY COUNCIL OF TODAY

We cannot cover the sun with a finger. There is bad blood at the Riverside City government between officials and numerous opponents. The Karen Wright incident has made things worse. It will have a tail. Inside the same dais there are lots of frictions and resentments between Council members. Steve Adams and Chris MacArthur were endorsing Ed Adkison. There is a cold war between Councilman Paul Davis and City Attorney Greg Priamos.

The Mayor endorsed Bailey and so Gardner, Melendrez, and Paul Davis. Opponents to the government are against Bailey. Melendrez has a son in the RPD Department, so never expects any criticism against it. Nancy Hart, who is retiring, refused to give an opinion. Adams and Davis are like oil and water because Davis endorsed John Brandriff. Gardner will back up Bailey, no matter what. Bailey will face lots of troubles to handle his new job because his lack of experience, although we wish him the best. The City Council is not a very good sight, there is too much blood in the supper. Sooner or later the balloon will explode.

See in this edition an exclusive interview with Mayor Ron Loveridge, saying Sayonara to City Hall. At the very end of this edition, after the subtitle "Don't Kid Yourself," there are jokes about limited speaking time at different scenarios. It's funny. This edition has 14 pages.

AFTER THE MAYORAL ELECTION. Riverside City Clerk Colleen Nicol informs, " The tentative schedule for administering the oath of office to the new Mayor is December 11, depending of the completion of the election canvass by the Registrar. It is up to the Mayor Loveridge to be present or not."
