A week ago today the world lost an Icon.

And while the complete circumstances are still being sorted out, those of us touched by Michael Jackson are left to deal with the loss. Some of us have watched wall-to-wall coverage on news networks and video channels, others retreated to a quiet place, listened to some of his music - maybe even toasted to his life with a friend or two.

My experience was a bit surreal. I was actually on the air when news started to leak out and had the unfortunate responsibility of relaying the news to folks who had not yet heard. That duty and the gravity of the story, delayed my ability to really take in the news. Once I got home, I grabbed a bottle and was able to relax a bit and it all started to sink in a little more as I watched the news and read updates on Facebook. It also hit home a little more when I was asked to write a quote for a local newspaper. As I waited for friends to join me, I began to sip on my Moscoto and wrote the following statement:

For all the controversies, scandals and occasional absurd eccentrics ... I will remember Michael Jackson for his talent, innovation, his magnetic presence, his genius... His SOUL. MJ's impact on artistry, performance and music will last through the ages. His art touched people from all walks, faiths, creeds and colors. There isn't a corner of the world that escapes a feeling of loss today. We only get one Michael Jackson, and I had had the privilege to experience him for 36 years. Thanks Mike! (and by the way, you delivered one hell of a bridge!)

We all deal with death differently. When my father passed, telling stories and laughing with family helped me. Last week, writing those words helped start the coping process for me. Some may not understand how you react, grasp and cope with loss. But that's ok. Your grief is yours - their grief is theirs. There is no right or wrong way to mourn or to absorb loss. There is simply your way.

Now that we are a week removed I would like to know; How has the loss of Michael Jackson affected you? How did you deal with the news? What did MJ mean to you? Reading your words, sure would help me.

My exercise schedule has been slip-sliding away, HELP!

The past couple of weeks, things have been looking pretty grim for this Fit Girl. My eating habits have slipped and the gym is just a distant memory now. While my waistline isn't getting any less chubby, my excuses as to why I can't get it together are running thin. The parties are over, the cake's been eaten and there are no more celebratory cocktails to be toasted with. With the marathon of birthday celebrations mostly out of my bleach-blonde hair, it's time for me to get back on track.

Please, Fit Girl friends, help me!

I swear, there was a time when I was so incredibly motivated that I would rise long before the time I was expected at work to work my booty off at the gym. This is only a faded memory now, lost along with part of my sanity during the particularly stressful finals I recently completed. But those finals are over and done with now, and there's nothing that's keeping me up until the wee hours of the night, (other than my "Real Housewife" obsession.)

While I've been eating okay, I'm not where I want to be. And the also my habits would be a lot easier to deal with if I could get back in to the swing of the gym. But how can I find my motivation? Even in my backsliding time, I've still found a way to give a tip to all of your ferocious folks. Once you start an exercise routine no matter what it is - - be it the gym, an in-home machine or even just a nightly walk with friends - - stick to it.

In the immortal words of the late, great Michael Jackson - - don't stop 'til you get enough.

My problem is that since I'm not making anywhere near as much of a good effort as I have in the past, I've allowed myself to slip-slide all the way to not going at all. Everything becomes an excuse and there's nothing pulling me towards my goal. It's been, "my back hurts," "I'm tired," and of course, "oohh, but tonight's the night where Caroline, Dina and the girls reveal what they found out in that book about Danielle!"

There is no excuse.

True, there's plenty of legitimate reasons that have kept me from my gym such as a thrown-out back. But something occurred to me over the weekend, even as I laid flat on my broken back. Since I haven't made it to the gym in such a long time, I've almost forgotten completely about it - - out of sight, out of mind.

No matter what - - even if it's only a sad attempt - - do your best to at least manage one day of your exercise plan. It doesn't matter if you slid back down, just simply work on building back up.

So, Fits, now I turn to you. I hope my small amount of advice had some help for you but now I ask the same: you tell us- how can I get myself back in to the groove?

At some point, every virgin faces the big "will you, won't you?" sex question, but once you've gone all the way, does the question go away? No.

Once you've had sex with a guy, it does not mean you have to do it every time you see him -- in fact, telling him you want to wait before the second time is a good way to find out if he's really into you. Any guy who's worth your time will be more interested in getting into your heart than your pants. If sex is the most important thing in your relationship, perhaps it's not the best match for you. The "virgin decision" is not the only decision you make when it comes to sex -- it's a decision you make each time you do or don't.

Then there are times when you've already said yes in the heat of the moment (or in response to pressure) -- but you change your mind. Is it still okay to say no when you're in the middle of yes? Yes.

Your body is yours and you can deny access at any time. No matter how mad he might get, if you're no longer into it, it's your right to end it. But, try to avoid it, indecisiveness comes off as game playing.

Bottom line: You are never obligated to be intimate with your guy, even if you've already slept with him. And you can always change your mind, no matter how far beyond kissing the makeout session has gone.

Saying no is always okay. And if you do say yes, make sure you play safe.
