Davao-based band David vs. Goliath won the Red Horse Beer Pambansang Muziklaban 2011. They bested three other bands in the finals held last night, January 28, 2012, at the Aseana Business Park in Parañaque City.

David vs. Goliath won P500,000 in cash, an album launch sponsorship worth P300,000 and an endorsement contract with Red Horse beer worth P200,000, not to mention the bragging rights to be called a Muziklaban champion.

"Valiente" remake airs on TV5 this February

The remake of the 90s drama Valiente will air second week of February on TV5. It will replace the series Glamorosa which is currently on its last few episodes.

The remake stars JC De Vera as Gardo Valiente and Oyo Boy Sotto as Theo Braganza. Gardo was originally played by Tirso Cruz III. Theo, on the other hand, was done by Michael de Mesa who is also included in the remake. This time, he plays the role of Gardo's father, Damian Valiente.

Update: TV Patrol announced that Representative Iggy Arroyo has died after removing his life support. This was a few hours after Mike Arroyo said his brother was clinically dead but on life support, retracting his earlier statement that the congressman was already dead. Iggy Arroyo had a cardiac arrest in his London home on January 25 at around 7 PM. He was rushed to the hospital and was declared clinically dead. His heart stopped beating early morning of January 26 but was revived and was put on life support.

Iggy Arroyo, Negros Occidental representative and younger brother of Mike Arroyo, has passed away at the age of 60.

He had a cardiac arrest Wednesday night in London. He was revived at the hospital but went into a coma. His heart stopped beating this morning.

“While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul searching we have decided to separate,” the couple wrote. “We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. "Walang Hanggan" Beats Finale of "My Binondo Girl" in National Ratings

Walang Hanggan was a consistent number one in its first week. The ABS-CBN drama even beat the finale episode of My Binondo Girl in the nationwide primetime household ratings according to Kantar Media's survey last Friday, January 20, 2012.

Walang Hanggan got 34.3% of viewers share while the Kim Chiu-starrer only got 30.7%.

GMA-7's Eat Bulaga! was unbeatable, though, in the daytime race. It's rival ABS-CBN show Happy Yipee Yehey didn't even made the Top 10. No wonder the Kapamilya network is ending it soon.
