We learned to manage our expectations early on knowing that any kind of getaway that involves an extended road trip or family members is a "trip" not a vacation. The confusion starts when your job makes you take "vacation days" for such get-togethers when really there should be special days for "trips" just as there are for "sick days". When your biggest decision is whether to get your margarita blended or on the rocks, you know you are on vacation. Ahhh, we just got back from our first real vacation since becoming parents so now I can confirm from personal experience, there is a difference!

Weening with Crayons

I have been nursing my 15 month old daughter in the morning and at night and have decided it is time to start the weening process. I always said when she started asking for it, it was time to be done.... Surprisingly she typically wants to nurse more in the morning than any other time which is the exact time I need her to not nurse anymore. One less thing to do in the morning would be great. Plus, maybe after 15 months my husband can actually get up with her and I can sleep in!

I knew this was not going to be an easy task and needed a distraction. He new favorite activity, coloring, has come in handy in more ways than one. As soon as she gets up in the morning she points to the rocking chair so we keep going and I have her crayons out and ready to go. She gets so excited she gives me this look like really I get to color already?! It has worked the past 3 mornings so I think we are on our way :)

Why do they make sleepers so long and skinny?

Are the makers of toddler's sleepers trying to give my daughter a complex already? Why do they make the things so long and skinny? Typically I buy Carter's pjs but since I can't find size 18 months ANYWHERE, I bought some at the Children's Place. I had to cram her leg into her new jammies and be very careful not to zip up her leg in it! The reason this frustrates me brings me to tip #1. For those of you who are working moms trying to get yourself and your child(ren) ready for daycare in the morning, you understand that every last minute of time is needed. I always dress Emmy is whatever onesie she is going to wear to daycare the night before so all I have to do in the morning is put pants on. Yes, that means she still wears a lot of onesie but it is so much easier. So, when they make the damn pajamas so tight it is hard to fit some of the onesies under them! So, let me know if you know of a brand of pjs that is made for a normal sized child, not a bean pole.

Just Trying to Make it Work

I am not unlike millions of other women in the world who is trying to juggle motherhood, being and wife and a full-time working woman but I am here to bitch about it.
