Foo Fighters Say NO To Glee

2011-03-20T17:17:00.000-07:00

Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl, had just a little to say about hit TV musical “Glee”, and it‘s creator Ryan Murphy. Well, he had a lot to say, to The Hollywood Reporter, more than could be posted in an all age blog. Following the lead of other “Glee” nay sayers, Slash, and Kings Of Leon.

“It’s every band’s right, you shouldn’t have to do f---ing Glee, and then the guy who created Glee is so offended that we’re not, like, begging to be on his f---ing show… f--- that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee.”

The attacks seem to be more at “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy then at the show itself.

I am happy to see there some people who still refuse to sell out. Although Foo Fighters have been featured on many TV shows, such Roswell, and Dawson Creek, but neither of those featured teenagers singing to karaoke style version of their songs. I myself, am not into musicals, but it is my belief if you want to do something like a musical, it’s more admirable to write your own original pieces, than to use someone else’s already been played and spoken for works.

Jon Bon Jovi Accuses Apple of "Killing Music"

2011-03-19T18:06:00.000-07:00

"Steve Jobs is personally responsible for killing the music business" says, musician Jon Bon Jovi. The 49 year old Bon Jovi front man told the London based Sunday Times Magazine, that since Ipod and Itunes the music industry has drastically changed.

“Kids today have missed the whole experience of putting the headphones on, turning it up to 10, holding the jacket, closing their eyes and getting lost in an album, and the beauty of taking your allowance money and making a decision based on the jacket, not knowing what the record sounded like, and looking at a couple of still pictures and imagining it.”

Wait a minute? Hasn't Steve Jobs and Apple, been about the only company to monetize online music sales? Today, we want to preview the albums, before Itunes, I can not tell you how many full LP's I own, and only enjoy 1 or 2 tracks. The rest is rubbish, but they have very nice artwork on the jacket. Also, in todays world we want, what we want, now, and we want it portable. We don't want to carry a big binder CD case, or big vinyl record boxes, we want it all in one fast and easy to access package. Ipod provides this, whereas old school record labels couldn't seem to get it. Not to mention Itunes, has done wonders for the Indie label artists.

"Jon Bon Jovi" has become a hot search trend since making this statement.

Duff McKagan Your Financial Advisor?

2011-03-14T02:23:00.000-07:00

Former Guns N' Roses bassist, Duff McKagan has annoounced the opening of his new venture Meridian Rock. A financial consulting firm for musicians.

The rocker said he attended a Seattle, Washington university about the time Velvet Revolver took off.

"I couldn't make sense of it [the money he was earning]. I didn't know how much we had made or lost on the tour. As a 30 year-old millionaire, how do I admit to somebody that I don't know what the (BLEEP) I'm doing?"

Would you hire Duff, to handle your money?

Pandora Internet Radio

2011-03-11T20:08:00.000-08:00

I just recently purchased a new LG Blu-ray player with wifi access it had Pandora Internet Radio installed on it. I remember I once came across Pandora years ago, and really wasn't all that impressed by it. It may have been back in my dialup access days and that would explain why I wasn't all that interested, or then again, maybe it was something else..?

Now though, I find myself using Pandora, all the time. In fact, Pandora is playing on my Blu-ray player as I am typing this now. The interface on my LG Blu-ray player is simple to use, just type in your favorite bands, or artists, and add their stations to your station list, and click play.

Pandora Internet Radio has a huge library, it seems to match your aritists to other "like" artists in the same genre. If you hear a song you love you can click "like" and or "bookmark". The same goes for the artists, or songs you don't care for, you can click "I don't like this song". If you have been hearing the same song too many times, then you care to. You can click, "don't play this song for a month".

Pandora Internet Radio learns more about your music likes, and dislikes, the more you use it. Soon it becomes almost like you are Dj-ing to yourself. Only playing only the music you like to hear.

Pandora Internet Radio is a totally free service, and surprisingly very few commercials. Commercials are very short about (15 seconds) and very unintrusive, my guess is maybe one or two commercials play an hour.

Give Pandora a try on your PC go to http://www.pandora.com/ . Or check your network connected gadget to see if its available! I do know network connected LG Blu-ray and DVD players have this service preinstalled. I also stumbled across a good Pandora Internet Radio, Blackberry app on http://www.crackberry.com/ .
