New school

ok so next month I start at a pseudo christian university for my Bachelors in sociology since I couldn't find another online school who had the degree. It should make for very interesting blog posts. Here's to argument inciting!

Career and Education services

Ok so after Ashley decided to pursue an MBA so that she can start her own line of cosmetics and do some other things it got me thinking, maybe I should start charging people for the advice I give them on careers and education. I love doing it and I get nothing but thanks for it so maybe I can make some extra cash helping people fulfill their goals and see that it's not as hard as they think. So if you read this and have any questions about what you should do with your life, how you should do it, or just need help finding a school message me or email me at jon_quinones@hotmail.com.

Aside from that I finally decided on a school for my Bachelors; I'm going to get a Bachelors of Science in Sociology at Grand Canyon University. It'll be in online format since I have responsibilities that hold me back from going on campus but it's fully accredited in all the right places! So after that I will hopefully be in Canada at that point and will get my M.S. in Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. From there it's just PhD. and I'm off to punching mummies in no time! (It's actually very competitive to find field jobs in Anthropology but I plan to be awesome). And again if anyone has any questions that the incompetent people at your school can't answer, feel free to ask me and I will bust my ass to answer them!

Hands down my favorite video this week was Hygiene from Jake and Amir in College Humor. No matter how many times I watch this video it gets me cracking up! Watch for yourself!

On my mind right now: Inconsistencies in people's faith

I find quite often that people claim to have full fledged belief in a religion (namely Christianity), and yet act contrary to their doctrines. One of the main issues I used to have as a Christian was just how we would all just kinda pick and choose what we believed and went with it, I mean I know that there's no way any person can follow the ten commandments but there are some little things that many people don't even know they are doing that are against their religion. For me, the best example of this is Astrology, best known for the horoscopes we read online or in magazines. Isn't it supposed to be a take it all or leave it system? Why bother believing in one thing if you ignore the rest? I guess if we don't like it we just discard it and custom fit ourselves with our own religion.

The most entertaining experience I had with this specific hypocrisy was at an office I worked at a few years ago. This girl was lecturing me on why I should believe in Jesus and how she is such a true believer but then proceeded to talk about how her and her boyfriend belong together because their astrological signs match. My immediate response being the confrontational person that I am was to grab a Bible ASAP and turn to one of the MANY MANY verses on why astrology is a NO NO for Christians; Her immediate response was a frozen stare followed by a quick "oh I don't believe in that part." Wtf?

Those Verses I was talking about: Deut:4:19, 17:2-5, 18:10-14, Isaiah 47:13 and the list goes on but the point is that it agitates me when people can do things like this but still believe they have the right to preach to me.

Ok so I'm going to start posting parts of the book I'm working on here from now on. I believe I've finished chapter one; the whole book is mainly about growing up with my very unique circle of friends and the sad and exciting moments and adventures of ours that helped make us who we are today.
