Last week a financial report on the football industry was released by Deloitte’s Sports business Group. This statement analyzed the revenue from the 2008-2009 season. Manchester United dropped a spot from previous years against Barcelona, coming in third place. Madrid, was the winner of the Money League.

The financial importance could be huge

In this analysis they classify the revenue into three major classes Matchday, Commercial and Broadcasting. The names are pretty clear to understand what concepts they contain, so is no surprise that the number of games played in a season has a direct effect in the position of a club financially.

This season there has been a lot of talk as for why no major acquisitions are been made and the financial hazard the the club is in (thanks to the Glazers). So with no major signing and a squad full of injuries, this season United is already out of three major tournaments.

This means no Carling cup final, broadcasted all over the world, plus a good amount in Matchday tickets sold, also no FA cup final. As for the Champions League, there is a whole section in the report describing the influence of the Champions league, and the round each team reaches, in their finances.

The Champions League offers the participant teams not only revenues from broadcasting and Matchday but also the sponsorships of the tournament which are a great percentage of the commercial revenues reported for all the teams taking part in the 2008-2009 Championship. For Manchester United the Champions League contributed with 53, 700 €’ 000 total which means 16% of United’s total revenue.

So this puts a lot of financial pressure on Ferguson´s side, if in the 2008-2009 season having played the Club´s World cup, Europe Super Cup, Carling Cup Final, Champions league Final and Community Shield, United dropped to the third place in the money league and the net profit keeps dropping, leaving the club with minimal cash flow to make any major signings. What is going to happen with the results this season?

Last year UEFA distributed €150,360,000 from the money generated from the Europa League marketing, the teams receiving the most amount of money received between 8 and 9 €’ 000, this includes the prize per stage reached plus the extra payment from the broadcasting Market Pool. Villarreal was the team receiving the biggest amount even without reaching the final. A part from this, there is extra Matchday and Commercial revenues generated from the number of games played.

Us fans, will still be supporting the team if they lose or if they don’t have enough money to get Luca Modric to join. But the truth is that as long as the Pound keeps losing value to Euro and tournaments are being lost, there is going to be more and more weak spots in the squad and less competitive salaries are going to be paid, leaving us with less and less possibilities of having the best players in the world with football being the way it is.

Fantastic performance overall from every player. Standouts for me were Valencia, Scholes, Evans, Rio, Carrick.

United had a lot of performers

They were causing all sorts of problems for them. Liverpool were out to frustrate us from the first whistle. They had never set out to play and get a win. And that's exactly what they did in the 1st half. Our finishing wasnt upto scratch but still had few chances to score when Scholes and Rafael's efforts were saved. After what happened at HT in the tunnel, it was evident, United had come all guns blazing. It was great to see us score from a corner and Rooney was at right place at right time for that. He got another after some brilliant work from none other than our beast Valencia, who alongwith Rafael had been tormenting Liverpool on that left side.

Rio and Evans were just outstanding. So calm and composed with possession and some of the tackling was just superb. Rio's best game this season I'd say and Evans put in just another of his usual consistent solid displays this season. 1st choice for me now these two. Seem to have great understanding too. Rafael's maturity is very much visible and can't wait to see him play for us for many more years to come. He was brilliant and his passion was there for all to see. 1st choice at RB I'd say without question. So delighted for Evra and he once again was really good today despite all the ongoing attention around him.

Carrick and Scholes produced a football exhibition with some good passing and interceptions. Scholes managed few good tackles of his own in the 1st half! . Both were in control of our play. Welbeck was just superb once again. His dribbling and first touch have improved tremendously. How many English players do you see dribble with the ball? His close control is very good. Rooney once again produced stuff of goods in big games. Fantastic display from him too. De Gea had nothing to do all game but when he was called upon for that one moment, he pulled off another top save. So that's saves v Liverpool x2, Chelsea x2, Arsenal, Stoke that he has got for us to save our skin. No doubt he'd benefit from the run of games and he should stay in between the sticks for the rest of the season.

Great win and performance overall. 3 points were the key and we got it. If we win our next 2 away games at Norwich and Spurs, we're winning this title for sure. Both are tough games but given the way we've been playing since going out of CL and also with players coming back, I fancy us to do well and hopefully win both.
And you can guarantee that it will come from the scousers.

Evra v. Suarez rather than United v. Liverpool

Much has been said on the issue on merseyside and the blind support shown to Luis Suarez by the club and fans has beggared belief. Many had hoped the issue would have been dealt with after the FA cup match at Anfield, however it was dragged up again when Suarez petulantly refused to shake Evra's hand. This set the tone for the game which was dominated by United from the beginning surrounding the Liverpool defense with some dynamic wing play orchestrated by Paul Scholes. A couple of chances missed summed up a first half in which United could have been more clinical.

Despite their attacking set up Liverpool were too narrow and found it difficult to get out of the middle third leaving Suarez cut off. The animosity on the pitch found its way into the tunnel with players scuffling on the way in. The start of the second half saw a corner won immediately. An unfortunate flick on from Jordan Henderson and shocking marking from Glenn Johnson saw Wayne Rooney lose his man to smash it in from 6 yards. Minutes later Valencia wins the ball back from Jose Enrique and slipped the ball to Rooney who was on his own and put it past a furious Pepe Reina. With ten minutes to go Suarez poached a goal to give glimmer of hope to the bin rats. The match ended as it should with a United victory but the saga continues when as Evra celebrated in front of the stretford end he passed in front of Suarez and this was seen by the referee as a mistake. Evra was consequently surrounded by Liverpool players unhappy with his celebration. This was started by the refusal of Luis Suarez to let the situation rest and shake Evras hand. Once again "king kenny" has said that his player is not responsible for any of the things that happened yesterday as he ripped into Sky Sports Geoff Shreeves after the game. Suarez is Dragging the name of Liverpool FC through the dirt, as if it would make any difference, but he is dragging us down with him. United fans have always tried to keep our cool in the face of disgusting comments and chants. And we have been guilty of it too. We have to keep our dignity and not sink to their level. Good game though eh???

In an attempt to defuse the very preventable circumstances surrounding the Northwest Derby, Liverpool Football Club has issued an apology for their actions - but was it meaningful?

LFC apologize that there wasn't handshake

There's an old saying, "If you don't mean that you are sorry, don't even bother with an apology.
which is clearly the case with the 18-times champions, it had no substance to it, as they were just trying to be politically correct.

If Kenny Dalglish and Luis Suarez were anything close to resembling human beings, let alone a men, they would've done the apology face-to-face, but they didn't and can only be class as spineless individuals.

What people are so quick to forget is that Suarez has NOT apologized for repeatedly calling Patrice Evra a "Negro," but for not shaking his hand. There was some skepticism about whether the Uruguayan was a racist or just committed a racist act. Well, now it's clear he is a racist - because if he wasn't he would've said the words, "I am sorry," to Evra's face and shook his hand. Yes, he has black teammates and he and Glen Johnson went above and beyond to show that they didn't have any animosity during the game, which just proves that point. If he had nothing to prove, he would just go about his business and shake all of his teammates hands, chest bump or high-five. Nope, he just did it with Johnson - which is pathetic.

In his post-game interview with Sky Sports Sir Alex Ferguson boldly stated, "I couldn't believe, I just could not believe it. Patrice told me this morning, 'I'm going to shake his hand, I've nothing to be ashamed of.' But then Suarez refuses. He's a disgrace to Liverpool Football Club."

Well, apparently that sad excuse for a man, Suarez, was told by his bosses that he needed to be man and shake Evra's hand, but the coward defiantly refused and the game nearly boiled over before it started! The best part, Dalglish told the reporter in his post-match interview that he was "bang out of order" for telling him that his player refused to fullfil his promise on shaking hands to nip the problem in the bud.

How did Dalglish not know? Is he still living under rock from the 1980s? Terrible and an inexcusable excuse. He was in the ground and surely had to see the melee that ensued during the team handshake OR he should have been advised by one of his trusted assistants or players.

The club written apology said, "To be honest, I was shocked to hear that the player had not shaken hands having been told earlier in the week that he would do. But all of us have a responsibility to represent this club in a fit and proper manner and that applies equally to me as Liverpool manager. When I went on TV after yesterday's game I hadn't seen what had happened but I did not conduct myself in a way befitting of a Liverpool manager during that interview and I'd like to apologize for that."

These apologies were forced and just a sad attempt by a faltering club to save their own hide! Their new American-based owners, New England Sports Venture and John W. Henry must be completely embarrassed how these two clowns have totally set the club's attempts to get it back to the days when they experienced success. It will be very interesting to see if Dalglish keeps his position, if another problem arises. After this PR stunt, it's clear that he's already walking on eggshells!

Ian Ayre, the club's Managing Director, said, "All of us have a duty to behave in a responsible manner and we hope that he now understands what is expected of anyone representing Liverpool Football Club." Well, Suarez and Dalglish have and will continue to act in that manner that he's eluding to! As a person and a manager, Dalglish is still living in 1990 when he could get away with the nonsensical things, especially showing undeniable allegiance to protecting his players - even when they are clearly in the wrong. This behavior is, just as ignorant as Suarez's, if not more!

These are the days and times when everyone can count their lucky stars that they don't support Liverpool Football, because the world knows who the classiest club in England is - Manchester United.

Hey Kenny, Who is bang out of order now?

Evra was angrily confronted after celebrating

It's been widely reported that Manchester United's David de Gea was spit at by an unknown Liverpool player, some are speculating that it was another one of their manager's acquisitions, Craig Bellamy.

This is not the first time that he's involved with controversy at United, as he struck a pitch-invading fan in the face two seasons ago at Old Trafford - and this club keeps have their players dragging its proud name through the mud.

According to some reports, Bellamy was also arguing with a few security guards while leaving the field of play, which was on top of Suarez's childish actions before, during and after the game.

An inside source at Old Trafford said, "de Gea was making his way to the tunnel and was clearly shocked to be spat at. Obviously the players reacted angrily and both teams became involved, before stewards managed to quieten it down."

So, are Liverpool going to admit that their players are completely out of control and issue another apology or are these types of things going to continue to rear its ugly face!? There comes a point when enough is enough and - if they are found guilty - Liverpool should be severely punished.

If the shoe was on the other foot and this was how the Manchester United players were acting, most would be ashamed to be affiliated with such simpletons. The difference between the two clubs is that Sir Alex Ferguson would not allow players like Bellamy or Suarez to spread their demonic seeds and disrupt the team spirit. If you think that's not the case, look at what has happened with Ravel Morrison, Roy Keane and David Beckham. All three of those players were released or sold, because their off-the-pitch sideshows were or could be distracting and detrimental to the performances on the field.

Some of these modern day footballers are some of the most spoilt brats you will ever come across, and they need to stop getting away with these things because they play a sport. If these actions were committed off the field of play, they would be thrown in jail and fined. Yet, The FA is refusing to step in ensure that these foolish actions are damaging to not only Liverpool Football Club, but the Barclays Premier League, as well!

Wayne Rooney's two goal against Liverpool were enough to earn Manchester United all three points from their 2-1 win, but was it enough to earn him Man of the Match honors?

David de Gea - 7

Was it a very good team display by United?

Unlike many of his other performances, de Gea a very quiet afternoon, as he only had to make one save - a crucial late save against Glen Johnson.

Rafael - 7
Made a couple crucial interceptions to seal the points for United, but Rafael was also a nemesis down the right flank, as well.

Rio Ferdinand - 7
Made a crucial tackle to win the ball and deny Suarez a certain breakaway, and Ferdinand was astute for much of the game.

Jonny Evans - 9 (Man of the Match)
Vocal, composed and commanding, Evans was instrumental, as he rarely put a foot wrong and clear all but one of the balls into his area.

Patrice Evra - 7
With every set of eyes on him, Evra did his job well defensively and nearly scored a rare goal, too!

Antonio Valencia - 7
Not one of his most dominant performances, but Valencia was still able to have an impact as he stole in and set up the eventual game winning goal.

Michael Carrick - 7
Stamped his authority on the battle of the midfield, but Carrick was sometimes thinking too much and caught holding on the ball for too long.

Paul Scholes - 8
Another fine display by the ageless midfielder, as Scholes and his midfield partner outplayed their three Liverpool counterparts.

Ryan Giggs - 5
Definitely was not one of his best performances, as he failed to hit the mark on far too many of his passes, but it was his corner that set up the opening goal.

Wayne Rooney - 8
Normally he's the one receiving the majority of the abuse from the Liverpool fans, but without that distraction, Rooney was very good against them, as he took both of his goals ever so well.

Danny Welbeck - 8
Some of his touches and link up play during the first half was mouth watering, as Welbeck was terrific, but he fell off a little bit in the second.

Overall - 8
Manchester United haven't had good luck against Liverpool in recent years, so it was good to see them see off their most-hated rival without a man-advantage, even though they should have put them to sword!

Ratings: 1. Horrendous; 2. An awful day; 3. A depressing time; 4. A forgettable performance; 5. Could have done better; 6. An average performance; 7. A good performance; 8. A dynamic display; 9. An excellent all-around game; 10. A performance for the ages

Does Berbatov deserve more chances at United?

Being Manchester United's leading goalscorer in December, many people would have thought that Dimitar Berbatov would be getting more of a chance, but that hasn't happened - and doesn't look like it will, either!

Berba can't get away from the fact he isn't playing

The reigning Premier League Golden Boot award winner has finally spoken out about the disappointment of him spending more time watching others given chances than he is - but he did the classiest away!

When other players, especially all of these new-aged superstars, aren't playing as much as they would've liked, they go to the media, but not Berbatov - he did the opposite!

The Bulgarian striker said, "When I have something to say, I go and talk face to face with the manager. He decides everything." How often do you honestly hear something like that? Never.

Most supporters have known that Berba doesn't like to be sitting the bench, so it's finally good to hear him say that - but also state his intent of still wanting to be a part of Manchester United. He said, "I am a Manchester United player, but I do not currently play in as many games as I want. I'm not happy that I do not play!"

If a player ever says that he's happy - or if anyone thinks that they are content playing a lesser role - then they are in the wrong profession.

For whatever reason, Sir Alex doesn't favor Berbatov, but that doesn't mean he won't give 100% when he is finally called upon. Since the beginning of December, the 31-year old leads Manchester United in scoring with seven goals - despite playing a bit-part role.

Ferguson certainly his favorites, as Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez are going to be battling it out for the rest of the season to be Wayne Rooney's strike partner. This will leave Mitko on the outside looking in, but don't be surprised if the club activates his club-option year extension in March - which is completely unfair to him!

The frustrated striker stated, "To my knowledge, the clause to extend my contract for another year is automatically activated in March. I know nothing more." Last month, there was heavy speculation that he was off to Germany to secure a deal to see him go in the January transfer window - but nothing came of it. However, he could very well have been negotiating personal terms and do what Ferguson wants and finally force his way out of the club.

Berbatov will not lie, so there was somebody else who wasn't telling the truth when discussing extending his contract in the summer. He finished up by saying, "There was nothing concrete as an offer to me. I read about such things, but they are more speculation. I do not know how long I will stay at Manchester United."

Nobody in their right mind can fault Dimitar Berbatov if he left Manchester United, because the way that his situation has been handled is anything, but professional and it has been down right shameful.

Shortly after the start of the second half, Rooney volleyed in the opening goal from a corner. Just three minutes later, Rooney struck again with a quality finish after being played in on goal by Antonio Valencia.

Luis Suarez, the center of much controversy throughout the match after shunning Patrice Evra's handshake, pulled one back for Liverpool, but United held on for the victory.

Recap
The tension of an already heated rivalry kicked off before the match even started with Luis Suarez refusing Patrice Evra's handshake. From the point on, the tone of the match was set.

Liverpool had the best chance early on when Glen Johnson got forward in the attack and cut in to release a good shot on his left foot, but it went just wide of the goal.

Rafael was presented with a similar chance later in the first half after a brilliant pass from Antonio Valencia on the right. His curling shot did not threaten, while Danny Welbeck failed to get a touch on the ball to divert it into the goal.

United had another opportunity to score as Evra got his head to Valencia's cross, but his effort went over the crossbar.

In the dying moments of the half Suarez looked to be in on goal, but Rio Ferdinand got back and put in a brilliant challenge to end the threat.

United made the breakthrough early in the second half as Jordan Henderson deflected Ryan Giggs' cross into the path of Wayne Rooney, who volleyed the ball past Pepe Reina.

Moments later United doubled their advantage with after a brilliant pass from Valencia provided Rooney with the perfect opportunity to slot the ball past Reina once again.

Kenny Dalglish attempted to get them back into the match by bringing on Andy Carroll and Craig Bellamy, but United continued to control the match.

It appeared United would cruise to victory after their second goal. Rooney nearly completed his hat-trick, but failed to convert another excellent opportunity.

After United conceded a free kick, substitute Charlie Adam was able to put the ball into the box which led to a goal from Suarez after a defensive mishap.

Liverpool continued to push for an equalizer, but United coped with the pressure and secured a vital three points in the title race as they moved to the top of the Premier League table.

Starting XI: David de Gea; Rafael, Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans, Patrice Evra (c); Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs; Danny Welbeck, Wayne Rooney

In his debut season, especially over the last couple of months, David de Gea's career at Manchester United has been called into question - but it's all kind of absurd and premature.

de Gea tips himself to succeed at OT

However, against Chelsea the 21-year old quieted a lot of those critics with one of the best saves you will see any goalkeeper make, but there's absolutely no reason for it in the first place.

With professional athletes, confidence is everything and it's great to see that in a recent interview de Gea showed that he's ready to kick-start his United career again for the very first time.

The main reason for all of this ill-founded distaste for de Gea is based on the £16m - £18m that Sir Alex Ferguson, himself, decided to spend to get the young Spaniard to Old Trafford - so it's not even his fault! He had absolutely no control over how much United paid for him - other than the fact that he's one of the best goalkeepers at his age!

Twitter and other social media sites heighten all the ridiculous ridicule of de Gea. He's on twitter, so there's no question that he sees some of the abuse that his thrown in his direction, but he's beaten that away just as good as he did Juan Mata's free-kick!

If his recent comments don't turn the bashers into supporters, nothing will. de Gea said, "I have every intention of spending many years at Manchester United. I want to go on to become a great United keeper and to earn and deserve respect. I want to help United make history."

That is impressive. Why? Because he could've crumbled like the many corners that the fans blame him for but, instead, he has overcome the adversity and will kick on. How do you do that? By admitting that you were completely ready for the challenge - and he will learn from that mistake.

DDG humbly admitted, "I think it is fair to say La Liga and the Premier League are the two best leagues in the world, but it's well known the style of play here is rather more physical and, as a goalkeeper, you have to be right on it. You have to be attentive all through the match."

One area that he needs to work on is dealing with balls coming from the flanks. He said, "The players coming at you can shoot from any angle and from distance. You need to be aware you might get a shot from distance at any time. Having said that, there's a lot of crosses from the sides, a lot of high balls and aerial play. So you have to be able to get in there and block, interfere and stop shots being taken."

What's really a great thing to see, is that even with David de Gea being "rested" by Sir Alex Ferguson for the last month or so, it seems as though it hasn't effected his confidence one bit - and that will benefit him and Manchester United!

After watching his overpaid Manchester City squad falter in three of their four competitions, Roberto Mancini is feeling the pressure of being deeply involved in the Premier League title race - and he's desperately trying to divert it.

Which Manchester manager will laugh last?

Everybody knows that Sir Alex Ferguson loves to get himself involved in managerial mind games with his closest title rival, which has always seen Manchester United able to overcome that test.

So, Mancini is trying to do his best impression by saying that United can go the rest of the season undefeated and pip City for the title - but that's just his poor attempt at trying to jinx their Red rivals.

There are 14 games left in the 2011/12 Premier League season, but the Italian could be onto something, though. The Reds have already played Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United twice, so they only have games against City and Tottenham after they play Liverpool this weekend. If they get the desired result against their most-rival on Saturday, then it could catapult to their 20th league triumph.

Mancini stated, "Manchester United can win all their games - they are strong like us. For this reason I don't think we can think about the other teams. It is important to be at the top at the moment - this is very important."

United are currently trailing City by two points and have a significant deficit in the goal differential column, mainly due to the 6-1 setback against the noisy neighbors at Old Trafford in October.

Now, the battle for the remaining 42 points, including a crucial six-pointer at the Etihad Stadium, will more than likely ultimately decide the destiny of the Premier League trophy. The Reds should be confident of winning that game since they have beaten City twice already this season - in the FA Community Shield and FA Cup with 3-2 scorelines.

Mancini knows that United usually kick into gear around this time of year and he would have loved to have more than just a two point advantage in the race, so there's a reason why he wants to shift the pressure across the city - but Ferguson won't let it happen.

However, the Blues boss contradicted himself, because he said, "It is important that we stay top and don't think about the other teams." Even if he was successful in trying to forget about United, the press would constantly remind him of them - he's never going to escape the overwhelming pressure of the English media will have over him.

You have to give Roberto Mancini an A for effort, but he's got 14 games left to save his Manchester City managing career - and beat out Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United for the title.

Quotes from in this article were taken from Soccernet's Mancini wary of United potential.

The forgotten man to eventually replace Ferguson

Could Ferguson pass the torch to Blanc?

Before he took France job, the former Manchester United defender was, and still is, a highly-regarded manager for the job he's done at the club level.

It's been recently reported that Arsenal's Arsene Wenger has been tipped to become the potential successor the imminent French national team managerial position after this summer's competition.

It was only two-and-a-half short years ago that Blanc was linked with the Old Trafford hot seat, but since he's taken over the French national team, he's become the forgotten suitor. Blanc was experienced defender who Sir Alex Ferguson admired, because of the way he was a student of the game and had the ability to match - even when he came to Old Trafford at 35.

In just his second season at Bordeaux, Blanc led them to their first Ligue 1 title in 10 years, earning the 2009 French Manager of the Year - and there should be little doubt as to whether he could manage a big club like United.

The former classy center-back is clearly not afraid of taking on a challenge, as he took over the managerial reigns of the France national team after the 2010 FIFA World Cup debacle - which that sort of mentality will do him wonders if he's ever consider to be a candidate for Sir Alex.

With the recent announcement that Jose Mourinho could be leaving Real Madrid this summer, as well, he is the front runner for this position, but Blanc has the humble personality that the former Chelsea boss lacks. However, being a former United player, as short of a stint as it was, Blanc may have a leg up on him - just like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the fan-favorite, does.

The only thing that the former United teammates don't have is a lot of experience and knowing what it takes to consistently win and overcome adversity. But, their upside, especially Blanc's, could outweigh those prerequisites.

If Sir Alex Ferguson ever does retire, Laurent Blanc should be at least considered for the job, because he has an amazing bit of calmness, composure and drive that only a few managers possess.

FA needs to crackdown on these mindless fans & managers

During Manchester United's 3-3 draw, Rio Ferdinand was booed by the disillusioned Chelsea supporters in a desperate attempt to show their support for the captain, John Terry.

Ferdinand was left raging after abuse he received

This is the second Red to be involved in hotly-contested war of racism, and the managers of the two clubs involved, Liverpool's Kenny Dalglish and the Blues' Andres Villas-Boas, have done nothing but fuel the fires.

On top of the jeers echoing across Stamford Bridge, were chants of "Rio Ferdinand, you brother's a c**t," who is an alleged victim of racism by the Chelsea captain - but will The FA do anything about it to punish everyone who is to blame?

Terry, who was just relieved of his duties as the England national team captain, is facing a trial in court during the off-season. So, their mindless fans reflected their manager's sentiments by standing by their often-controversial talisman. Ferdinand, also a former England captain, was subjected to that offensive chant all because he has stuck up for his younger brother, Anton, who was called a "black c**t" by Terry.

This is not the first nor the second time that Chelsea fans have been of defending or promoting racism, either. This is actually the third time. The first game after the Terry vs. Ferdinand debacle, 1,100 travelling fans repeatedly sung “Anton Ferdinand: you know what you are!” in a disillusioned, pathetic attempt to back their captain, which led to the club releasing a statement, "The chanting was wholly inappropriate and we don’t condone it."

Then, after the Norwich City game in January, a Chelsea "fan" was arrested and detained for screaming racists chants on a train back to London.

Their racism hasn't been just recent either, because during the 1980s, they racially abused their own player, Paul Canoville, who was the club's first-ever black player to play for them!

After the United game, AVB, who has also been booed by those same fans, leapt to their defense by saying, "This is a normal situation in the Premiership!" That amazingly arrogant quote was tweeted by Rob Harris, an UK-based reporter for The Associated Press.

On twitter the United stalwart responded to his critics by saying, "I got booed by the cfc fans today,....well done guys thanks for inspiring me & the lads! That's like fuel to me! #TeamSpirit."

The last couple of games, the positive influence of Paul Scholes in the United team has become more obvious than ever, having lost midfield control which led to a defeat when he was substituted against Liverpool and the spectacular comeback against Chelsea starting when he came on.

Scholes & Carrick have been sensational together

This kind of influence only brings out the importance of the Central Midfield in football. The perfect combination of a defensive midfielder and a passing/creative midfielder is one that can make a team win trophies.

To further explain the winning power of a perfect match of midfielders, examples are necessary, and maybe the clearest of these examples is the Gatusso/ Pirlo.

In words of Genaro Gatusso himself, he couldn't be a footballer if he didn’t had Prilo playing next to him (proved wrong with Pirlos move to Juve). Gatusso is the type of player who can cover an extraordinary range of the field and recover possession, but he is definitely not the type of player that can distribute game, control the rhythm and create goal opportunities. Pirlo is that creative midfielder capable of a side to side perfect pass and a perfect timing cross that leads to goal opportunities. To do that he needs to gain ball possession. Pirlo did a double function, to cover defensibly while remaining close by to Gatusso so when he got the possession back Pirlo was close by to distribute the play.

I chose this example because it is the most radical one in football mainly because the roles are so perfectly set apart. Its not always like this but both of the roles have to be performed in the midfield and when this is achieved the success of a team is almost certain.

For United this winning combo has been achieved. In recent years the most successful one was the Keane/Scholes, winning the 99 treble, and the second one is the Carrick/Scholes winning the 2008 Champions League.

The question remains if by the end of this season this partnership is going to be found again, the pair up of Carrick and Cleverly at the beginning of the season showed promise, but with the possibility of Fletcher’s permanent retirement, the need of a CM becomes crucial for Manchester United.

A few examples of succesful partnerships

Stability. It is the key source of all that manchester United has become through and we have been through hell to get there.

Next week marks another Munich anniversary. "The Flowers of Manchester" was read under the clock bearing the date of the disaster, as it has been for years. It struck me that the thing that has sustained us throughout these years through all the good times in the 60's and the bad times in the 70's has been some form of stability from within the club. While many managers came and went before the "fergie years", the fans always knew that Matt Busby was still there watching, keeping an eye on things, ready to drop his axe always for the good of the club. In fact I'm still convinced that Matt just refused to die until he was sure Fergie had won a title and could stand on his own two feet.

Then the players who have remained a part of the club for years after they stopped playing. Chief of whom is Bobby Charlton who is part of the furniture at United and has been since the '50's. G Neville, Paul Scholes, Bryan Robson. Even Paddy Crerand can't stay away as a regular on MUTV. And Fergie, who has created a monster of a football club, coupled with one of the most 'ahead of it's time' and agressive marketing strategies in football. And where United led, the world followed. It was Matt Busby and Louie Edwards who created the first executive boxes when the North stand was rebuilt at Old Trafford and changed football forever.

Recent speculation about the immediate future of one Signor Mourinho has brought the issue of who will replace Fergie when he does actually retire. Now there is no doubt that he will remain with United in some capacity. Manchester United is part of his DNA and he and Busby are cut from the same cloth and the manager will want to see his legacy left in the right hands just as Busby did.

It might sound arrogant to say that we are a special club and deserve a special manager and not one who just calls himself "special". But its not. Munich made us a family and, as we approach the 6th of February, it occurs to me that we are like kids who just want to know that their parents are around keeping an eye on us while we play. But that's what families do and we are the children of the family that Munich created, Matt Busby nurtured and Alex Ferguson married. Our family. Our religion.

A lot of noise is always made during the January transfer window, especially on deadline day, but Manchester United has proved that there is good value in January again.

Scholes has lifted United since his return

Because he was not registered as an United player, Paul Scholes had to wait until January before he could rejoin the club he has only ever known and come out of his premature retirement.

Even though he will be credited with it, this free transfer signing fell right onto Sir Alex Ferguson's lap - and it could go down as his greatest ever piece of business in January!

We all know that the Gaffer has been hit-and-miss in the transfer market over the last couple of years, with some absolute gems but also some complete duds, but he may have just outdone himself with Scholesy coming back into the squad. Now with so many injuries depleting his options in the center of the midfield, this was a no brainer as he actually improved the quality of the squad without investing a single pound!

All Ferguson had to do was let him train with the first team - and that was enough to relight his desire to play at the highest level again. As the United supporters are witnessing, the Ginger Prince still has the quality and class to compete with any midfielders he is pinned up against.

In the last two matches, against Liverpool and Stoke City, United completely bossed the game. The reasons? Scholes has struck up an uncanny understanding in the center of the park with Michael Carrick. There were a lot of questions of whether these two players would be able to strike up a balance because both of them have turned into holding midfielders, who like to sit in front of the back-four. Well, so far, these two midfielders have struck a balance that sees one of them stay back as the other one attacks - and they do that seamlessly. Against the Potters, and because of their dominance, United retained the ball 75% of the game, which is by far the best total of the 2011/12 season.

In the three Premier League games (Bolton, Arsenal and Stoke) he has played in, Scholes has completed 161 of his 180 passes, a remarkable 89.44%. In the two FA Cup against Liverpool and City, he completed a mere 97% and 96%, respectively.

We would all be billionaires if all business could be as simple as this was!

Ratings: How Manchester United rated against Chelsea

Manchester United clawed their way back from three goals down to score a 3-3 draw against Chelsea, but which Red was the most influential in this dramatic fight back to get Man of the Match honors?

Rooney slots home 2nd penalty kick of the game

David de Gea - 8
In the early going, he made some very skeptical punches, but he was faultless on all of the goals and made probably one of the saves of the season to save the game for United.

Rafael - 7
Was confidently defending for much of his time, but Rafael's performance will be marred by not tracking Mata for Chelsea's second goal.

Jonny Evans - 7
Received some unjust blame for the opening goal, but Evans didn't put a foot wrong the rest of the game, and he was perhaps the best defender for the Reds - again.

Rio Ferdinand - 6
Seen as a "big game player," but Ferdinand was very unassured and he look very uncomfortable against both Torres and Sturridge.

Patrice Evra - 5
All three goals can be linked with some of his lackadaisical defending but, to his credit, Evra won the penalty that sparked the Reds.

Antonio Valencia - 7
Not one of his best days in recent memory, as Valencia was unable to take full advantage of a make-shift left-back, but he did improve in the latter stages of the game.

Michael Carrick - 7
Had a quiet performance for much of the first half, but then Carrick was readily involved when United started to get a stranglehold on the game during the second.

Ryan Giggs - 6
When he was deployed as a central midfielder, Giggs constantly misplayed balls over the top trying to be cute, but he showed his class with a delightful ball to Hernandez for the equalizer.

Ashley Young - 6
His first game of 2012, Young had only one or two chances to influence the game, with his best chance clawed away from going into the far post netting.

Danny Welbeck - 7
Was challenging the Chelsea center-backs with pace and power, which should've seen him earn a penalty in the first half - and finally

Wayne Rooney - 8 (Man of the Match)
During the first half, Rooney was not at his best, but the second 45 minutes it was a different story, as he put in a match-turning display - including dispatching two crucial penalties.

Substitutions
Javier Hernandez - 7
Came on as a second half substitute, and Hernandez showed his deadly ability to come off the bench, as he popped up to score a vital goal against Chelsea once again.

Paul Scholes - 8
Once he came on, United took over the battle in the midfield and Scholes was the reason behind it - again!

Ji-Sung Park - 6
Came on with six minutes left to balance the 4-4-2 formation out, but Park had little to no impact on the game.

Overall - 7
Before Chelsea scored their three goals, Manchester United was bossing the game - and they did the same thing after and were unlucky not to have gotten all three points!

Ratings: 1. Horrendous; 2. An awful day; 3. A depressing time; 4. A forgettable performance; 5. Could have done better; 6. An average performance; 7. A good performance; 8. A dynamic display; 9. An excellent all-around game; 10. A performance for the ages

Five reflections from United's comeback against Chelsea

Manchester United made life hard for themselves again, as they needed to post a dramatic three goal comeback to earn a point in their 3-3 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge - and here are some of the post-match reactions.

de Gea saved United against Chelsea - again!

Comeback kids
It takes great spirit to comeback away from the depths of defeat, especially away from home. For whatever reason, United don't really seem to click into gear until they are being pushed to brink of the defeat with their backs against the wall. To score three goals against Chelsea in the second half, can certainly spur United on to the title, but they cannot keep putting themselves in this sort of predicament when a draw seems like a win.

Liable left
Now the comeback would not have been necessary if there wasn't for some absolutely terrible defending on the left-hand side of United's defense. The first goal was a combination of Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra inability to prevent Sturridge from getting the baseline and clipping his cross across the face of goal, which was unexpectedly turned in by Jonny Evans. The second goal was caused by Evra's slack defending and allowing Torres all day to send a dangerous cross to the far stick, which should've been better dealt with by Rafael. Then the third goal, Evra tripped and earned himself a booking and then Ferdinand inexcusably failed to mark David Luiz who beat him to the near post and scored with an easy header.

Influenced introduction
Thankfully for those two defenders, Sir Alex Ferguson had another aging start to bring on to change the game. In contrasting fashion to what happened at Liverpool, Paul Scholes came on and added a calming influence, even though he misplaced a pass or two, was incredible, and the Reds bossed the battle of the midfield after. Since he has come back into the squad, especially when he's on the field, the entire squad's spirits have seem to lift with his presence and influence.

Debatable decisions
A lot of attention, like there normally is since United always get the benefit of a refereeing decision, will be put on Howard Webb's decisions. Yes, in the end the world's best official awarded the Reds two penalties, but the game could've had a very different outcome if he got the two penalties that he should've awarded in the first half right! On top of that, he avoided making a big, big decision by sending off Gary Cahill on his Chelsea debut, which would have put Chelsea up against with less man against United. This is the second time this season, he's done that, and yet people with ill-advised notions that he's an United fan are as foolish as they come!

Questionable formation
Over the past month, Sir Alex has either gotten his substitutions dead on the money or just dead wrong. Yes, Hernandez scored a goal and Scholes was dynamite, so it was all rainbows and butterflies, right? Wrong. The formation was completely off-balance and, if Chelsea took their chances, there was no chance of a comeback for United. Since it was his first appearance in 2012, Young was getting tired and needed to be replaced, so why not keep the formation as is and bring Park on then? Instead, and when United was going for a goal Welbeck was pushed out wide and then Valencia was pushed back to right-back when Scholes replaced Rafael. It left two players - Ferdinand and Evans - at the back with no cover on the flanks. Same exact thing happened against City but, thankfully, Chelsea weren't as ruthless and Manchester United lost two points on the day instead of three!

Reactions to the United fightback against the Blues

Reds celebrate dramatic comeback at the Bridge

Down 3-0 after 57 minutes at Stamford Bridge and then United go on and show great characters, ones of which champions are made of, and earn a deserved point.

At the start of the day if anyone had given me a point at Chelsea, I'd have taken it especially considering we haven't won there for so long in the Premier League and also the fact that we've had so many decisions go against us in this fixture over the past 5 seasons. But we went to Stamford Bridge and gave Chelsea a footballing lesson and controlled the game for most of it. I feel sorry for those who still find negatives after United making such an awesome comeback.

We're almost used to this referees-giving-decisions-against-United in this fixture because of what has happened in past 5 seasons and you couldn't help but wonder if that was going to be the case once again in this one when Howard Webb (a supposed top red by large chunk of media and opposing fans) didn't award a penalty, first to Ashley Young for having his shirt pulled from behind, and then second, another penalty for Welbeck after he was brought down by Gary Cahill. He got nothing of the ball and clattered his legs. That was a certain penalty and a red card. Both not given.

Rafael had a terrific first half. He was first to every ball and was probably our best player in the first half. Defense looked quite comfortable until Evra was easily beaten by Sturridge whose cross deflected off Evans into his own net. Neither Evans nor De Gea were at fault for the goal though Evra should've done a lot better in dealing with Sturridge. Evra gets easily beaten in 1-on-1 situations these days and he had a poor game by his standards. He was again the culprit for the second goal when he failed to close in on Fernando Torres, who put in a winger's cross and Mata made it 2-0 with a scorching finish. Rafael should've done better in marking Mata, who was left unmarked. More misery was yet to come for United. Soon it was 3-0 with Luiz's header deflecting off Ferdinand for another own goal. Evra again should've gone with his marker and he failed to do so. How they were 3-0 up was fascinating, I actually could not believe we were 3-0 down despite us being the better team.

Then started the comeback! Evra got the ball from Giggs on the left side and Sturridge kicked out at his leg without getting the ball and we got a penalty in the process. Sturridge was being asked by Villas-Boas just minutes before to come back and defend. Rooney, who had missed his last 2 penalties, dispatched the penalty in some style to hand United a lifeline. That was quite possibly the best penalty I've ever seen. The second penalty was a bit of a soft one. Ivanovic had stuck out his leg and got nothing of the ball, Welbeck tripped and earned us another penalty. In our last game, Berbatov and Hernandez had taken our penalties but this time there was no doubt that Rooney was going to take it and he made no mistake in putting it away. Suddenly we were back to within a goal with over 20 minutes left to play. The second half performance from Rooney was one of the most inspiring ones I've seen.

Sir Alex had got his substitutions wrong in the game at Anfield but this time he got them spot on. Scholes had a huge impact since he came on alongwith Carrick, who was magnificent throughout, and Hernandez game Chelsea's defence all sorts of problem with his movement. With 7 minutes remaining, Valencia put in a good cross to Rooney, whose resulting shot was parried away by Cech to Giggs. Once he got the ball, United's very own Duracell picked out Chicharito, who was unmarked 2 yards in front of goal, to send United fans into delirium.

David de Gea has been getting a lot of stick from many for his goalkeeping displays. Some of it is justified while some of them are simply ridiculous. He had a good game throughout. With just under a minute into stoppage time, Luiz earned Chelsea a ludicrous free-kick with a blatant dive. The resulting set-piece from Mata was saved stunningly by De Gea. Seconds later he also tipped Cahill's shot away for a corner. Those saves from de Gea ensured that we earned at least a point at the end. He has saved us from conceding in games against Arsenal, Chelsea twice, Stoke and also Liverpool in the Premier League this season. Definite positives and with him guaranteed of starting the next few games, he can benefit from having a good run of games in the side like he did earlier on in the season.

I feel really optimistic, despite dropping two points. If we play like that each week we aren't going to again this season. Some of our football in past month or so has been really good. If we are still within 3-5 points off City after the Spurs game, we're definitely winning this title because our final eight games or so are all winnable, which considering our experience in title races we will most certainly win. Bring it on!

Time Stood Still On That Numbing Day

54 years on, the "Munich Air Disaster" still has the propensity to bring even the biggest of men with a beating heart - not just United supporters - to their knees with a sinking feeling for the way that 23 of the 44 passengers had their lives prematurely cut short.

Even though the catastrophic crash claimed the lives of eight first-team United players on that cold, snowy February day, it initialed the day that a team died and a club was born.

The players who lost their lives were Geoff Bent, 25 years old; Roger Byrne, 28 years old; Eddie Colman, 21 years old; Duncan Edwards, 21 years old; Mark Jones, 24 years old; David Pegg, 22 years old; Tommy Taylor, 26 years old and Liam 'Billy' Whelan, 22 years old.

On top of those eight players, United was also forced to go on without its club secretary, Walter Crickmer, their trainer, Tom Curry, and first-team coach, Bert Whalley, from that unforgettable heart-shattering wreck.

The 12 other people that perished from the wreckage were Kenneth Rayment (co-pilot), Tom Cable (steward), Alf Clarke (journalist), Donny Davies (journalist), George Follows (journalist), Tom Jackson (journalist), Archie Ledbrooke (journalist), Henry Rose (journalist), Frank Swift (journalist), Eric Thompason (journalist), Bela Miklos (travel agent) and Willie Satinoff (supporter).

Events
The infamous Busby Babes were already starting to stamp their authority in English football, but, like Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Matt Busby wanted the club to spread its influence, style and flare all across Europe.

A Tribute To Lives Lost

On their way back from a match with Red Star Belgrade (present day Serbia) in the European Cup, the 44-seat airplane stopped to refuel in Munich, Germany, but, distressingly, 23 of those passengers on the flight back to Manchester would only ever fly again in spirit.

With the wintry weather worsening with every passing moment, the pilots were having a unyielding time trying to get the plane off the slushy runway, and the third attempt of asking, the plane plummeted back down to earth shredding the plane into thirds, which showed the true colors of the club for the heroism that was shown by everyone.

Courageous
Everyone that was willing and able did their utmost to help save their fallen teammates and comrades, but the injuries that they suffered as a result of the crash were much too great and seven players were killed almost immediately.

However, Edwards showed exactly why he was already one of the most feared players in England by nearly showing the strength to survive from life-threatening injuries, but he eventually succumbed 15 days later.

Sir Bobby Charlton, who was not only one of the 21 survivors but is the club's all-time leading scoring, paid the ultimate tribute to Edwards by claiming that he was "the only player that made me feel inferior."

The United spent nearly two months in the hospital recovering from his almost fatal injuries, but Busby used the love, support and admiration of not only his wife and family, but also his other family - Manchester United.

The Horrific Aftermath

Busby knew that he no choice but to recover, so he could continue to lead the players he took under his wing as young boys and groom them into the finish product, and his courage was to be forever embedded into the club's genetic code.

Rivals
Almost as tragically, some of Manchester United's rivals' fans have shown complete disregard for this unwanted tragedy by displaying deplorable acts of intolerant behavior.

There is even video evidence from United's FA Cup win over Liverpool with one of their poorly advised fans chanting "Munich!," and some of those simpletons make the sounds and pretend that they are an airplane going down by having their arms extended.

Leeds United is another adversary that still chants about Munich, and has fans that refer to Manchester United as "Man U" which, despite some people's ideas, certainly has some correlation to the Munich Air Disaster.

However, must respect needs to be given to the set of Manchester City supporters that were inside of Old Trafford for honoring the moment of silence for the fallen victims, which included one of their former players, Frank Swift.

The 23 human beings, who had their lives shaved short 54 years ago, were not only filled with so much promise within the sport, but in life, itself, so it is no wonder that February 6, 1958 has been dubbed the "Darkest Day" in Manchester United's history.

Harold Hardman, Chairman 1951-65

Two second half penalties from Wayne Rooney and then a wonderfully-timed header from Javier Hernandez canceled out an unfortunate own goal by Jonny Evans, a terrific volley by Juan Mata and a header by David Luiz.

They always say that decisions always even themselves out - and United got one the two penalties that they deserved in the first half 12 minutes into the second half.

In the 57th minute, United finally got a penalty decision to go in their favor, as Webb pointed to the spot after Sturridge, amazingly, tackled Evra from behind in the box. With pressure on his shoulders after missing his last penalty attempt, Rooney stepped up and sent Cech the wrong way, as he smashed the ball into the upper corner of the net.

Then seven minutes later, Webb awarded United another penalty, this time after Ivanovic tripped Welbeck. Like he did with the first one, Rooney took the responsibilities and, again, sent Cech the wrong away again, as he slotted the ball into the opposite left corner.

In the 84th minute, United came all the way back from three goals down to pull level with the hosts. Rooney was given a chance to shoot, and he hammered a shot, which Cech could only parry out to Giggs on the left channel, and his pin-point cross was expertly headed passed the Chelsea goalkeeper by Chicharito.

Rooney & Hernandez sealed United's come back

An unfortunate own goal by Jonny Evans and two quick-fire goals by Juan Mata and David Luiz gave the Blues a commanding three goal lead, but two penalties from Wayne Rooney and a Javier Hernandez header gave the Reds the most unlikeliest of draws.

However, even though United came back and got an encouraging point, Manchester City, who easily defeated Fulham, move two points ahead at the top of the Premier League standings.

From the 2-0 win over Stoke City, Sir Alex Ferguson made six changes to his starting XI, with a few couple of surprises. As predicted de Gea replaced Ben Amos in goal, but Rafael came in for Chris Smalling, who was left out of the squad altogether. In the attack, Young starts on the left, his first appearance in 2012, and Rooney, who missed the last two matches, is partnered with Welbeck up front.

Recap
In the first minute of play, United earned a free-kick in a very dangerous position, which Rooney stepped up to take but, with Cech frozen to his spot, his effort curled just wide of his right post.

In the 10th minute, the Reds had a clear shout for a penalty, or at least a free-kick on the edge of the area, but Howard Webb, who is constantly deemed an United fan, did not whistle for it and it prevented Cahill from being showed an early bath, too!

The game was being played at a very high intensity with challenges flying in all over the place - and Webb was refusing to brandish a card to get the game under control.

In the 29th minute, United broke forward after Valencia picked out Rooney, who in turn played a teasing ball to Welbeck at the far post for a tap in, but Ivanovic was on hand to poke the ball away for a corner.

Against the run of play, Chelsea got the opening goal of the match - and it was down to slack defending on the left-hand side. Evra and Ferdinand allowed Sturridge to get to the endline and his cross was poked away by de Gea, but it struck an unsuspecting Evans in the middrift and into the back of the net.

After the goal, Chelsea - and the creator of their goal - struck a long-range shot which de Gea did well to get down to his left and parry the shot away.

Moments later, United were back attacking Chelsea and they were two good saves away from leveling the score. Young, like he loves to do, cut inside on his right, and struck a curling effort destined for the far netting, but Cech palmed it away and Rooney was too slow reacting to the loose ball. Right after that, Welbeck was put through and his powerful shot was too close to the Chelsea goalkeeper and he was able to block it away.

Deep into first half stoppage time, United were awarded a free-kick quite a distance to shoot from distance, but they worked it well and Rooney's shot needed Cech to dive to his right and save the ball.

In the opening moments of the second half, Chelsea were up two goals. The ball worked it's way out to Torres on the right and his cross to the far post, was met emphatically by Mata, as he smashed it into the roof of the net.

Things went from bad to worse, as the Blues got their third. Following a cheap free-kick and a booking for Evra, the resulting set-piece was headed into the net by an unmarked David Luiz.

In the 57th minute, United finally got a penalty decision to go in their favor, as Sturridge tackled Evra from behind. Rooney stepped up and sent Cech the wrong way, as he smashed the ball into the upper corner.

In the 65th minute, Chelsea nearly exposed the vacant right-back position, and de Gea had to make a smart save to his right to deny Mata his second.

After that, Rooney had two chances from outside of the Chelsea box to pull another goal back for United, but the first one whistled wide of the Cech's right and the goalkeeper needed be aware as he needed to collect his second shot, as Hernandez was lurking.

Webb awarded United another penalty, this time after Ivanovic tripped Welbeck. Rooney took the responsibility and he sent Cech the wrong away again, and he slotted the ball into the opposite left corner.

After a mistake by Romeu, United had chance to break forward, but Hernandez's shot from inside the right side of the Chelsea box failed to test Cech. At the other end, de Gea needed to be awake as a thunderous shot from Essien was punched away by the Red keeper.

In the 84th minute, United came all the way back from three goals down to pull level. Rooney hammered a shot that Cech could only parry out to Giggs, and his cross had pin-point accuracy was headed into the net by Chicharito.

Due to all of the stoppages, there were four minutes of added time by the referee, Chelsea had another free-kick, which Mata whipped towards the top corner net, but de Gea pulled a save out of the top drawer to keep the Reds alive.

The final whistle came from Howard Webb, and Manchester United were unlucky not to have registered all three points, as they had Chelsea on the ropes.

Team
de Gea; Rafael (Scholes 64'), Ferdinand, Evans, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Giggs, Young (Hernandez 53'); Welbeck (Park 85'), Rooney

Goals

These two squared off back in September, and the Reds scored a 3-1 victory over the Blues with Chris Smalling, Nani and Wayne Rooney finding the back of the net at Old Trafford

Starting XI: David de Gea; Rafael, Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans, Patrice Evra (c); Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Ryan Giggs, Ashley Young; Danny Welbeck, Wayne Rooney

From the 2-0 win over the Potters, Sir Alex Ferguson made six changes to his starting XI, with a few couple of surprises. Nobody really knows

Against Stoke City, his Premier League debut, Paul Pogba was finally given a chance to show what he can do on the football field for the Manchester United first team – and it left you wanting more.

Pogba was exciting to watch

Yes, it was only 18 minutes, but that could go a long way in getting him to commit to Old Trafford in the long-term.

In his post-game interview, Sir Alex Ferguson said that Pogba’s contract situation is complicated, which puts even more doubt in the supporters’ minds that he could be leaving in the near future.

The 19-year old has all of the physical attributes to make it at the highest level, but many have questioned his mental side of the game. As noted above, if you are going to base his career on 18 minutes, he’s a dead ringer to be a true success.

Pogba’s passing – both short and long – was precise and tidy. With defenders tight to him, he made quick and elusive turns with the ball in tight spaces. His movement both with and without the ball was tremendous, as he was constantly moving to be an option for his teammates – not many young players understand just how important that is.

Everybody knows that Stoke has some of the most physical players in the Premier League, but Pogba didn’t shy away and wasn’t fazed one bit – which shows that he does have mental toughness to match his physical build.

Confusing
If this contract hold up is about not wanting to pay him an extra 10K per week, then that’s just ridiculous. However, it could be something far deeper than that, as his agent could be making a deal without giving United an honest chance of matching or competiting for their player's signature. With the whole Wayne Rooney saga made so public, fans know just how disillusioned and thought-provoking agents can be. The problem is, footballers are the smartest business people, so they blindly trust in their “advisors” to give them the proper advise them what they should do – without factoring in anything.
