If you want the results you need to put in the work. You want 6 pack abs the work is diet and exercise, you want your house clean then you need to clean it. You want financial stability you have to either work hard to earn more money, start a side business and sacrifice other areas of your life or live well below your comfort level and sacrifice how you live. It seems that most people either have success (at least at the start) or they have a family. Because all successful business owners know that a start up is not an 8-5 job.

The point is this. People today want the benefits without putting in the time, without doing the work and without making the sacrifice. They look at the self made people and say I want what they have, or that SOB why can he have that and I can’t. I can probably assume that whoever ‘has’ those things has put in the time and made the sacrifices. Maybe they have that boat because they have a home that is 1/4 of what they could actually afford, that guy with the big house, maybe he lived someplace smaller than she wanted for a long time. It is all about what you are willing to give up now in hopes of having what you want in the future.

THERE ARE WAYS TO GET WHAT YOU WANT WITHOUT THE SACRIFICE. But everyone needs to be on board, family, girl friend/wife (GF/W), kids, friends everyone. Yes EVERYONE in your life. I have friends that have their own business and I can say that we do not get together once or twice a week like many people I know because we are all very busy with work. We may not see or talk to each other for weeks but when we do get together it is a quality time that makes all the difference. It seems that people always find others that have gone through (or going through) similar situations. For the GF/W it is a little different especially if you are not living together. You both need to understand that not only will time together be limited but if you are both on different schedules you need to make sure that time together is quality time.

When everyone is not on board one might feel (or even be told) that they are not heading down the right road. There are 2 outcomes from this, if the work was started before there was a we creates one outcome, if the work was started after then it has a completely different beginning. The question is how do you handle this.

There will be more on my view of people, relationships, friends and family through my twisted view of the world where everyone is inherently good even if they do bad things.

big vs small

So I am in one of those predicaments. where a large company is beating up a small guy. This is not a case of getting something for free or trying to get out of a bill. This is a situation where a quote was given and verification of what the big company was going to do and what I was going to pay for this.But now instead they are saying oh no we did something else entirely and by the way here is your bill which is more than double !! and by the way if you do not pay we are going to sue you and charge you interest and legal fees so fuck you!!! is there no one in this country, no government agency, oversight committee that can help or cares about a small company?

what am I to do, well I can not due much, even after talking to a number of people I know in that industry (which by the way this is government regulated shipping industry) there is nothing i can do. This system sucks so anyone that wants to know more or thinks they can help let me know. What can i do take an ad out in the local paper... big deal. I guess the only recourse is to tell people what happened and hope they do not use them.

So what is so wrong with the phrase “dicking around”? people can use the phrase ‘beating around the bush” without anyone raising an eye! So I think we should be able to use ‘dicking around’ with that said. why is it such a shock when I say stop dicking around, the translation for this is simple – stop playing games and lets go. Everyone wants to play games but life is not a game, it is supposed to be fun, exciting, and overall bring a smile to your face. But with what I have been hearing on the radio these days I can say that everyone wants to play games and turn around and say ‘I am keeping it real” – really? You just admitted to running a game on someone to get what you want and you think that is real, you must have some serious mental issue if you think that is ‘real’ So in the end stop dicking around with saying you are keeping it real and actually do it.

What a week

So it has been a rough week all around the country. My question is this why is it the good people pass away so soon and the jerkoffs and trouble makers walk away unscathed? Is it that the good people use up their time quicker? or they have given everything they could give? Or is it just that no one wants the assholes and they are left here for all of us to deal with. I can say that I have learned not to morn those that are no longer with us but rather to calibrate the good times, all of the things we have learned, and all of the times that they helped you out.
Being the Christmas season, yes I said Christmas not holidays. We need to remember theeople that have touched us in that special way and forget the assholes and jerkoffs. we need to help people we believe are good people, and the rest need to figure out how to become someone that people want to help. I have been blessed by having people want to help me and I am trying to help people that want to be helped. I adjust asking that all of you do the same.

taxes and more taxes

So let me get this straight. Mr. Obama wants me to pay 'my fair share' so the country can get out of the red. Let me put it this way Mr. Obama. because I think you have some SERIOUS issues. You want to raise taxes on the people that do NOT use the systems you want to pay for.
Medicaid/Medicare yeah maybe a tiny bit but we have paid into this during our entire working life and also have private insurance to cover ourselves because we have worked all of our life saved, and invested.
Social Security – again we have paid this all of our lives even hitting the MAX we could put in and the government has given a lot of that to people who have not earned it.
Welfare – never going to use it but how much of my tax dollars are going to pay for this program? Do you think it is ‘my fair share’ to pay for people who are on this program and do not want to get off this program? I work hard, I have put in LONG hours and sacrificed a lot to get to this point in life, building my wealth and nest egg. Why is it ‘my fair share’ to pay for people who have no inclination to do the same.
Instead of continuing down this path all day and getting more and more upset I propose that you come up with a very simple flat tax where everyone pays the same percentage, no more graduated taxes, or anything else. This way you get rid of the estate tax issue, inheritance issues because why should I have to pay tax on income that was already tax when my parents earned it. The rest of the needed income can come from a VAT (value added tax) on pretty much everything. I have no problem with this idea and I am sure a lot of people will agree with me. if I feel like getting a car that cost $1 million and can afford it then I deserve to pay taxes on this. if I spend my hard earned money on expensive things then I have no problem paying taxes on this.
But to just say that because I am working hard to build companies, to be better, and to have nice things I deserve to have more of my income taken because it is only fair? Fair to who? The guy who wants to sit on their ass and do nothing but get a government check. This entire system needs to change if you really want to get country going again.

standards and morals

The other day I am sitting having a drink with a supplier. I am taking it easy relaxing and getting to know her on a more personal level. As we are talking the family life comes up (she has one, I do not) and how much she like the area I live in, where she lives, and a lot of other information. What I do not realize is that through this entire conversation she is hitting on me. When I realized she wanted more was when she offered to take me home. But I did get filled in when I went back into the bar and the bartenders (yes I know them) and even a few patrons mentioned that it looked like she wanted to jump me right there.

NOW here is the issue about standards and morals. In the past ok LONG ago (15 years) I would have picked up on all of this and would have moved in. Now when I see a ring and it is confirmed to be actual (not just a gimmick to keep guys away) I only look at them as a person, supplier, or customer. When they asked me at the bar why I let her go I simply stated that married women are off limits and will not cross that line and do not sleep with married women. "but she was hot" on guy said. I am not sure that factors in. would you want your husband or wife to go out flirt and have the other person just ignore the fact that the other person is married? I sure as hell do not.

What I am saying is simply this. keep your standards high and your morals in good standing. People these days seem to be forgetting to do this. there is no reason to lower your standards as it is doing nothing but making excuses for those you are lowering your standards for. If you throw your morals away you are doing nothing but lowering the standard for yourself. Which is worse than making excuses. It means that you are saying you cannot live up to the way you want to live.

Women and motorcycle pictures

So I am again playing on my iPad in bed, yes I know it should be outlawed. What is the deal with all of the hoopla with women having pictures taken on bad looking motorcycles? Seriously ladies, I am not saying don't do it, I am just saying get a better looking bike. So quickly today I have had 4 pictures come across my desk of women and cycles and guess what a stock soft tail does not make you look better, just cheap. Now ifbyou want to look good with a bike use a real custom, maybe a European or better an Italian! If the bike looks good it will only enhance how you look. Don't believe me do you, try it you will be suprised.

what NOT to put in a resume

Sitting down and talking to others who review resumes we have come up with a simple list of things you should NOT put into your resume.

1) 'multi-task' this is a BIG no-no for many of us. what this says is you cannot concentrate on what you are doing and need to jump around on job. what this ultimately means is that you cannot do everything at 100% because you will be thinking of the other things you are 'doing' at the same time. there are very few people who can legitimately work on multiple projects at one time so chances are it is not you otherwise why would you have changed jobs every year for the past 10 years.

2) ‘Instinctive’ – seriously this is on a resume. What are your instincts when you are put into a new job that you know nothing about, or how it is supposed to look when the job is done? You do not need to be instinctive you need to follow directions. ‘

3) A big jump in wages. If you have 4 pervious jobs where you are in the $7-$8.50 range do not ask for $14 without having a reason to. if you have not recently graduated from school, made a significant change to your ability there really is no reason to expect such a big jump ’just because’

4) Location – if you apply for a job in Boston but live in Boca – explain why you are applying and a little bit about your plan to move

5) “Give 110%” – you cannot give 110% you can give 100% and if you do more that new mark is 100%. You can increase what you do but most people do not reach their ultimate potential and do not even work at 100% of what they could do.

6) STOP being fancy with your work descriptions. When we see different phrases that say the same thing 3 times on your ‘skills’ section that mean the same thing what do you think is going to happen.

7) We do not hire you t ‘broaden your knowledge’ and “develop new skills” we are hiring you to do a job, if you want to enlighten your life do it on your own time.

8) there is no way that you are excellent at everything you try, it just does not happen.

9) READ THE DAMN AD. If you see an ad looking for drivers and you are a cook you have wasted everyone’s time. If you are a cook and they are looking for a bio-chemist you have wasted everyone’s time.

So all of the accidents have speeding as the contributing factor. In the article they site alcohol, drugs found, no seat belts and everything else that is found in and around the car. But of course ONLY speeding is noted in big letters! what is wrong with the media? again using the easiest target SPEED. remember speed does not kill the sudden stopping does. so to the media, why do you not straighten up and fly right? get off the speeding is dangerous band-wagon. why not actually encourage driver education, driver training and oh yeah force law enforcement to actually pull cars over without brake lights, people eating, texting and doing every thing other than driving as they get from point A to point B.

So Binny is dead. So let’s think about this for a minute here instead of believing everything you hear. First he is living at a compound that no one knew about for a long time, right down the street from the MILITARY that was LOOKING FOR HIM? Then his body was aboard a USA military ship and his body sent to the bottom of the SEA all in a very quick disposal.

SO nothing has been verified, you have no more proof, you have a few pictures but with a little time and Photoshop I could make it look like he is dead and I am not good with that program. But let’s look for a second and ask why was the body buried at sea so quickly? Why was it not flown to the USA after it all happened? Why are there so few details available about this whole ordeal other than what is coming out of the military that got rid of the proof of death? There are just too many unanswered questions. And furthermore who is to say that he has not been dead for a long time? like many believe he has been with his virgins for a long time. So for the rest of the world it really does not matter if he is here or gone. Was he really the mastermind behind what the government says? Are some if not all of the conspiracy theories true? Are there forces inside the government that will never be known? I am sure there are lot of things that will be secret for a very, VERY, long time. but sooner or later the truth will come out.

Was this all a political stunt to keep Obama in the white house? First his birth certificate was released, then Binny was ‘killed’, what is next, gas prices will drop? The economy will make large strides? What will happen next? Who is going to be destroyed to help him along?

siblings and business

Family and work.

I must first start off by saying that I have no siblings so I have no firsthand experience with what I am about to say but it has never stopped me before so fuck it.

Last night I was watching an episode of the deadliest catch. There was the younger brother (son of the late Capitan Phil) took off to get a key for a PO box and it took 2.5 hours. And when they returned claimed it was an hour at most. were they tweaking? Maybe but who knows. I know a couple of brothers that had a successful vegetable distribution business where it was the same story, one was always working the other always screwing off.

From my point of view when siblings work together it is always one that does not want to actually do the work. it does not matter if there are 2 siblings or 8 siblings. There is always one that does not do anything. This of course leads to a number of problems as the one that does not want to do any actual work will screw up the entire system. They will go around making trouble, telling people to do the wrong things, and maybe even start rumors for no other reason than they are bored. Now when I go into a company and see this behavior there is one of two responses. 1) oh well what can you do, they are here and we take care of our family, or 2) yeah you tell them they are fired. Ok let’s look first at option 2, ok I will, your fired and your office is already packed up on the way to your house the lock has been changed and here is your last check that is the easy option. Ok looking at option 1 is a little more difficult. This is where I have to evaluate how many problems they are causing and if it is economically stunting the company or not. If it is not hurting the company you can either challenge them and make them responsible for things that they are doing, or leave it alone. For the most part though if a sibling is causing a problem it will only get worse. Do not them ruin a company just because you ‘take care of your own’. It might be easier to just tell them to stay away and keep paying them.

The mirror

So I am sitting here on Sunday night and looking back on my life over the past few years there have been a few lines in movies being advertised that either touch me or people close to me. It is however fucked up that every single movie ends with a happy ending. Life does NOT always have a happy ending. People get hurt, some heal some do not. Some people take a long time other people seem to really move on the minute after it happens.

I could go through a list of movies that have all the bullshit fairytale happy endings. Instead I am going to be simple and very blunt here. Get the fuck over it. I can tell you that through life’s ups and downs nothing really matter except being able to look at yourself every morning and every single evening and like what you see. It does not matter who you are, who you think you are, what you have or don’t have, how much you have or don’t have. It does not matter where you live, who you live with or anything else. As long as you can take a serious look in the mirror and not want to break the mirror you are doing pretty good. You really need to remember that the only person you absolutely need to live with is that person in the mirror.

As for the rest of life, all of the material things, monetary values, and relationships revolve around how you look and perceive yourself in the mirror. Meaning that you will only be as happy and content as you let yourself be. Do not fall into the problem of actually believing Hollywood because they are full of shit. Life is tough and you have 2 ways to exit life. One is to do it quickly and early, or you can slug it out and enjoy the ride. Personally I am slugging it out and nothing else matters except that guy in the mirror.

Friends

So we are talking at the round table last night and here is the theory we have come up with about friends.

You always have a close circle of friends we will all this the ‘inner circle (IC)” then there is the 2nd and 3rd tier (T2 and T3) then a group of people called acquaintances.

So your IC never needs to say I am your friend and will always be here for you. the IC just knows this to be true and will never come into question when you are in need. You can disappear for months, get back together and pick up like nothing happened. They will not ask you where you have been, what you were doing or any details while you were MIA. The only concern will be how you are, if everything is ok and if you need something. The IC always welcomes you back and even bust your balls about not keeping in touch. The IC knows you will tell the whole story when you are ready. usually once a person is in the IC it is unlikely that their status will change. These are true friends that you will have for a long time.

Tier 2 and Tier 3 as a little more difficult to deal with. There are a few differences such as T2 friends are those friends that are fickly friends and only show up when things are good. if you disappear for a while and get back in touch with them you will get the 3rd degree about where you have been, why you didn’t call, who else was involved, and why they were not included. T3 friends are a little less concerned about what the actual story is, they are happy you are back and if they don’t hear the story they will most likely make something up. people can move from one group to the other but it is unlikely that they will move into the IC. It is not their fault they have proven time and again that they do not deserve to be in the IC by spreading rumors, talking about the situation and letting everyone know what problems everyone in the IC has. This is why you need to be guarded with T2. T3 on the other hand is not all that vested in your life and id you are around you will all hang out have fun shoot the shit and talk about nothing. It is funny however sometime you will have a T3 jump to the IC as unlikely as it is sometimes it does happen and it is more likely than a T2 getting into the IC. It should also be noted that the T2 group is the group to be the most careful around. They will always tell you they are your friend and will always be around to help you when you are in need. This may be true but only if they can take advantage of the situation either at that time or tuck it away for future use. This is the group that will let your business hang out in the wind and because they know a good deal about you can be quite a bit even if they make up a good bit of the story.

I think it is pretty clear who an acquaintance is, this is a person who you know will say hi to and ask how they have been. Not much more happens for the most part. These people are the ones you should pay attention to because it is most likely that they are the ones who will become the IC and skip the ‘friends’ group.

I hope this helps and in no way will be all of the groups, you can have sub groups and even more of them. This will come to be important in the future stories as I have asked the contributors to start using this type of classification in all their writings. This way you can see the pattern of some of the most sociopath people that we all deal with. It is going to be a fun ride from here on out.

blast from the past

I was out with real friends last night and it was really nice to see them. Now I have not seen a few of these people in a while and to be honest did not really know what to expect to happen, but it was a fun time. We were reminiscing about the ‘good old days’ and some of the antics we pulled.

For instance one time long ago there were 3 of us out for dinner. We had a pretty cute waitress and the one guy, let’s call him Compy, was really talking her up, flirting and going after her. Me and Carguy, are sitting there eating, drinking and having a fun time watching this all unfold. It must be said that normally Compy was not this forward with the women so it was like he read a book and went to a seminar. Anyway we are about half way through dinner and we can see that he is getting up the courage to ask the waitress for her number, not knowing if it is good or bad at this point we try to divert the conversation, so he does not crash and burn yet. So the next time the waitress comes up I ask her about the other waitress and say I would like to have breakfast with her friend in the morning. We this went over as well as to be expected, or so I thought. Toward the end of dinner waitress2 comes over and says if you can do eggs over easy I will make the coffee, score! Compy had such a look of amazement and it gave him enough confidence to actually grow a set of balls. So our waitress comes back and he really digs into her and in the end she shoots him down like a heat seeker missile, it really was a pitty. The best part of the night was the next morning when I had to cook for both of them.

This is just a tidbit of life we have been through but it really puts things in perspective. Back when we were younger we all had a lot of free time and a little bit of money and enjoyed ourselves more than we should have. But what are friends for, we always have fun when we get together. So keep in touch with your friends that you had fun with. Keep away from the negative people in life have fun be positive and go for it.

proper communication

Proper lines of communication.

So we are sitting here in a group talking about the companies we are running. The subject is what is the most destructive idea that comes up? I will tell you it is when people go to the wrong person to get information. What I mean is simple, go to the person you are supposed to go to. Seriously folks do not send me an email asking on where the paperclips are and if they were ordered, go to your boss or at most purchasing! Do not ask me to ask a supplier for a small part when I am dealing with them because I am working on a special project! This is what inventory people and purchasing people are for. If you have an issue and they are not getting you an answer then let me know but do not tell me I need to get it out of the factory while I am ‘in the area’. People need to follow the chain of work, not just go to whoever they feel like talking to that day.

Then there is the cell phone epidemic. So I call someone from the office, leave a message that says “call me in the office” what happens ? the cell phone starts ringing! How stupid do you need to be that you cannot follow simple directions. It is not that I need to talk to him about dinner, no we are supposed to be on a conference call and he gets upset because I can not conference him on from a cell phone? Or transfer him over to engineering or purchasing or anyone else for that matter.

People follow the proper lines of communications and there will be less problems. People are hired to do a job, and everyone is not hired to do the same job! so stop being a fucking idiot and trying to 'show the boss' how good you are at not being a team player or doing your work in the most efficient way of doing business. follow the normal path of doing business for the normal business and everything will be just fine.

are we men all mad???

So I was reading an article on why men are mad but I cannot say I agree completely. It is not so much that we are mad it is that what we expect from women is not there. and from that you can also come to the conclusion that we cannot find what we are looking for in a woman. If you expect to be treated as equals all over EXCEPT in a relationship then yes YOU might be a problem. Now I do hold the door for a perfect stranger, I will help an old lady to cross the street. I was raised to be a MAN and by nature(or nurture) an alpha at that so I understand how to treat people and that they should in fact return that type of treatment. Women these days no longer do this and this is the problem. It seems that women would like men to not change from the old fashion ways of thinking, but they can be modern and equal.

This is a story from a friend: James

Let’s see if this make sense to you. James a while back was asked out by a successful lady. We will call her Barb (names have been changed) Now James was always taught that the person who does the asking does the paying and since it is typically the guy who does the asking the guy does the paying. Now Barb asked me out so herein lies the issue. So the check comes out and is set on the table. they just got another round of drinks and are in no rush to go anywhere. So they both are ignoring the bill that is laying there. as they are getting ready to leave James naturally pulls for his wallet to pay, Barb does not move. Now does this sound right? A woman asked a guy out and the guy ends up paying for what the privilege of having dinner with her? Like Barb is that special, I think not, I was at the bar watching this all play out. the kicker is that night another woman we can call her Mary who was sitting at the next table over heard and saw everything. Ok I helped a little bit with the back story and she was much nicer, better looking and accomplished! Well a few days later I am out with James and a couple of others and Barb came over and said hi and asked if James would buy her a drink, yeah right came out of my mouth but was written all over his face. But really the best part of the night is when Mary came over right after Barb did looked James right in the eyes and said “ let me buy you a drink” Needless to say Mary is a hell of a woman and James is now a happy man with a woman that respects him.

End of that, maybe an update will come later.

What I am saying is this. women really need to respect the men they are out with. If you want to play the game then you really need to follow the rules or be kicked out of the game. I do like to watch people play the game it is funny to see anyone try to play that has no help, and yes fellas if I am there and see you floundering I will try to help you out. I can’t say I have found what I am looking for but I have no need for games but if I can pass at least a little knowledge to the next round of guys it is the least I can do. And please don’t get me wrong there are some women out there that play and play it well and this is the woman I want to play with.

finding things and dealing with dipshits

Normally the reason people ascend to mahogany row is simple. We are able to do projects, supply products, and get hard to find items without breaking a sweat. The difficult is done right now and the impossible will take an hour or two. This is why we get paid the big bucks (yeah right) so when it come down to it we can be lazy most of our life and as long as we perform when we need to get the results no one cares but what fun is that, we like to push it in every single aspect of life and have not met many that are lazy.

But even the best of us get stumped once in a while. I am trying to find 2 ipad 2’s. Over the past few days there have been standing in line at 6am only to find out there is no shipment today. OR sold out. Or the best one is this short conversation

Me- do you have any ipad2’s I called and were told you have them.
Dipshit – yes we have quite a few left. Let me finish with this customer.

15 minutes later

Me- great I’ll take 2
Dipshit- sorry only one allowed at a time
Me – is that a store policy?
Dipshit – no it is apple’s
Me- really it says limit 2 per customer. (in big letters right behind the guy)
Dipshit – oh, yeah sorry. let me go check to see if we have any left.
Me- ok , thinking to myself what the hell do you mean any left, you said you have quite a few.

miserable mental midgets

Every now and then we all run across a person who is a mental midget. someone who cannot do anything but make other people's lives miserable because they are a miserable person. this person can fuck up any relationship or business deal with minimal effort if they are actually involved or not. all the have to do is open up their mouth and shit comes out. 99% of the time what actually comes out is just an out and out lie no truth what so ever. there is not really much to say to this person, when you call them out on it they go crying to whoever will listen. When you leave it alone they pump up their chest and claim victory, but they have no clue that they are losing and are a looser.

If you ever run into someone like this do yourself a favor run the other way. do not befriend them, or even make friendly chit chat as they will take this as you being their best friend in the whole world, they are not so get the fuck away.

If you run across a person like this at work you need to abide by the following rules in dealing with them.
1) Always, always, ALWAYS converse with them OLNY through emails. You need to make sure every last detail is in writing otherwise they will claim they were never told or were not involved even if they were supposed to take care of the whole thing 1000%.
2) NEVER, NEVER, NEVER befriend them, they will take this as an opening to torpedo you.
3) If the person starts a rumor confront them immediately you need to set the tone that you are bigger, stronger, smarter than they are
4) If there is a second rumor that they start you MUST have a PUBLIC confrontation not only about the rumor but also what work they should have been doing at the time to set the tone with management so they can also watch what is happening.
5) If it continues you will have 2 things you must do. For their actual work that they are not doing you must show the management that they are not getting the job done and are not an effect team player and you must band together all of your coworkers and make them see what is actually happening.

As a side note, if you were actually friendly with these people before you realized what they actually are you need to slowly pull away, and then must treat them like a frie-nemy. They know they have done something wrong but you need to play it out slowly.

This is how you need to play these people otherwise they will not only fuck up the company, your job, and your personal life but they will also ruin your outlook on all new comers to your life.

people are fucked up

People are fucked up. how is that for straight and to the point! What is it you should say to these people, well not much if you don’t really have to see them. If you do need to see them you have a few ways you can deal with it, either be nice or tell them right out fuck off you terd.

For instance, I handed off this blog to a person that a couple of the post are based on and here is how the conversation goes

Terd – “ yeah I can do 3 post a week for a couple week while you are away. “
Me – “great I can spend all my time on what I need to do”
Terd – “no problem I just put it in my calendar it will be done”
Me- “great look forward to reading them when I get back”

So I got back yesterday and looked and low and behold NOTHING, not a fucking thing was posted. And here is the conversation that happened.

Me – “dude what happened you never posted anything”
Terd – “yeah I know I never got around to it”
Me – “why not, were you called out of town, was there a natural disaster, what the fuck happened?”
Terd – “oh nothing, just didn’t feel like it”
Me – ‘ok, great you ass, go fuck your pet turtle”

Yeah wait until he needs help! Yeah I will be right there no problem. then 3 hours later and I am still not there the conversation will end with me saying “I just didn’t feel like it – click”

Women and work

Sitting back relaxing the other day with a few other Alphas and can tell you that it is hard for us to not mix business and personal lives. What I mean is this, when you are an alpha and have your own business or work for a company that you are making a career out of you cannot just leave it a the door. So if you are having a bad day at work it will spill over into the personal side. Not in the same way though. You will become distant, un-emotional, or just totally consumed even when out with your woman. What makes it worse is that women understand it as you have lost interest in them which is far from the truth. It is more like she is a constant when the rest is going haywire. Don’t feel bad and kick yourself in the ass you just need to let them know what is going on.

This is not to say that being an alpha is bad, I view it as the only way to be but sometimes the betaness comes out with your woman because well that’s what boys were taught to do at a very young age. So what are you supposed to do about it you ask. Well get over it ! be a man and tell her what you want, how you want it, and WHY you want it that way. Seriously we alphas are that way everywhere else in life so why not be that way in your personal life? This is why most (if not all) alphas I know that have their own business are either divorced (maybe many times) or have been labeled lifetime bachelor. I say take what you want and keep your chin up. there is no reason to be sorry for wanting more and more importantly getting what you want.

Now some of you people will take this as an insult to the way you are living now. think of it this way. at work you tell people what you want and what you expect. You will promote, help and secure every resource to get to the desired goal you want to get to. so why not do the same thing in your personal life? But instead we all find something that is comfortable, familiar, and makes us happy. But what happens is it always ends up that there was never any mention of expectations of what we wanted. So instead it comes down to another breakup or divorce, and yes just because you got married it does not mean the expectations are always spelled out. So there really is no reason to change what you are doing when you get out of the office. If you want it you need to spell it out. Not only for her to understand but also for yourself. It is when you don’t spell it out is when you are going to look back and realize what you had after it is gone.

Vacation time

So I was sitting in traffic this morning taking a quick look on the crackberry at some of the social websites that plaque our life. I can say some people are really starved for attention! Seriously do we really care that you are twatting that you are pouring milk into your coffee, and then into your cereal? WE DON’T CARE. Just get your ass to work on time, oh I am sorry you’re the one that is always later but you have time to stop every 30 seconds to update your tweet. Then you have all of pictures from a 10 day vacation some guy took, he has only been back in town 4 days. but somehow he needs another vacation. HELLO are you kidding me, you take 3 weeks of serious vacation a year PLUS another week in days off, yeah you have been around a while but you are always either ON vacation or thinking about a vacation. you must be one of those ‘working trust funders’. You say you travel 1st class, I know it will take you at least 6 weeks to save enough for a coach ticket. Either that or you are just making up all of the pictures and reading about the place… hummm next time you tell me where you are going I think a trip to the bookstore is in order.

For all of you people that take 2-4 weeks of vacation time a tear on serious vacations STOP your complaining. We tend to take less vacation, work more hours and hey we are typically happier than you are. what does that say about you? you need to get away to make yourself happy? What kind of life is that? So go twat, post, blog, hog, yap and crap about all of your vacation and what you saw if that makes you happy because you think others will never go where you did or will do what you have done. If that makes you happy?

And next time you come back from vacation you need to hold off on saying you need another one. At the very least I would say wait 3 months at least that way you might look serious about the work you try to look like you are doing.

Washington's Day NOT President's day

Today is presidents day. why are we celebrating this? Really why?

Just another day to pay the government workers for not working? Seriously why are you getting off for this, there is NO reason for this. Now if memory serves me it should still be called Washington’s birthday. And NOT presidents day. it was never officially changed. Now in some states they actually use it to honor other people as well. this is another raft of shit. It was and should still be in honor of the first recognized president of the United States of America. Not to celebrate Lincoln, Eisenhower, or Nixon. Try this on Martin Luther king day. you think anyone would stand for calling it Black hero weekend instead of Martin Luther King day? Try it and see what happens. But that is an entirely different story to be told at a later date.

Ok so it is a FEDERAL holiday, does this mean we do not have to pay the federal employees for this ? and if it is Federal why are the STATE employees off? Is it because without the federal workers the states cannot do their job. If that is the case then why do we need state workers at all. This holiday is so bogus. I am sitting here thinking that yeah if this holiday was actually still celebrating the FIRST president I would not have a problem but as soon as you have people fucking with it like they have is does not mean anything.

So stop calling things what the are not and learn the history behind the actual holiday.

Conversations

Do you ever wonder how much work actually gets done and how much conversation that has nothing to do with work gets done?

Seriously many days go by where we are either locked away in meetings, in our office working on a project or out of the office on business. But when we come through you hear a complete switch of what it happening in the office. Some days it just goes from a loud roar to dead quiet. some days it goes from one subject to another, and some days it nothing changes and people keep talking about this or that which has absolutely nothing to do with work.

So let me point out that you are at work to, well WORK. if you want to talk about work to learn from each other it is fine but you need to get your work done. If you want to sit and complain that you do not have enough time to get your work done and we hear you talking all day about subject matter that has nothing to do with work, well guess what…. that’s right at review time it will show. So instead of talking about nothing all day get to work, if you think we are not watching think again. If you believe we do not care about what you do you are correct up to a point because as long as ALL the work gets done we are pretty happy but this is just doing the minimum amount of work required so you can bet that it will show up on your review. But if in fact you actually do your work and then do some more work even if only to better yourself with business related topics that will show you care and want to do more. And it will show up on your review. So instead of talking about nothing all day and then ‘not having enough time’ well go bugger off!!!

For the people that always go the extra step and the little bit more yes that’s right you will benefit and get ahead. For those of you that do just the bare minimum well you will stay at the bare minimum and do not try and talk your way into more because it will just not happen.

Personality conflicts

So today I saw a personality conflict. Of a couple people in a small office. There is one person that is more of a engineer, cautious, deliberate, and detailed. The other person is technical, aggressive, and straight forward. The problem that arises is this the engineer has worked at the company longer and feels that he needs to control everything. if the phone rings and does not pick it up there is the need to know every detail about the conversation. If the phone rings and it might be for someone else he will not pick it up.

When these 2 people start getting into it is can escalate very quickly. They will start with remarks, then you’re supposed to do it this way or that way. then it goes to out and out screaming and yelling.

My whole view on this is quite simple. There are 2 very strong personalities that have their own idea on how to get things done. They are both going to the same point which is a good thing. But with all of the tension it is a tough situation which can get out of hand rather quickly. Is this good or bad, well it really depends on how issues are resolved. So far from my understanding at the end of every confrontation there is an actual discussion which they both pled their case on why it was done and for what effect and it is resolved peacefully.

The next question is how do you add a third person to the mix? That will have to wait for another time as this story is still being written.

Monday after the big game.

It is Monday morning and 8 am has just passed. I have been sitting here watching people filter in and I really do not think the morning will be good for anything. I cannot imagine the quality of cars running through a production line will be good this morning either. If you knew you were going to have a party and not really be able to work this morning let see take the damn morning off you have vacation time use it! it is better to be upfront about things than try and do work at 20% of your normal slow rate.

But this is not just because there was a big game. This happens more often than not. so I guess it is something we all need to get used to. but there are a few caveats that we have been able to devise to catch everyone off guard. Like if a paid holiday comes around to make a 3 day weekend. you better be ready to work and work hard on both work days before and after the long weekend. we do this not for spite but to let you know that we need to make up the time that you were off. if you look at the countries that are growing they do this to a much more cruel extent. We are not cruel we just want to make sure that we get what we need. Sometimes, just sometimes we do actually schedule special training or meetings on these days just to see who will be ready to work and how to fill out the performance reviews so be ready. if we are in the meeting even if we are only popping in for a few minutes before taking off early rest assured we are keeping track of the people who are not performing.
