Kyoto Express on Hillel street is a small but busy restaurant, sitting at the central bar and watching your sushi being made in front of you, is fascinating in itself. I have been surprised at the popularity of Sushi in Israel, but with a variety sushi bars and restaurants dotting the city, its makes a quick light and healthy lunch, in the heat of the israeli summer it has a great appeal. Jerusalem also boasts a good number of Kosher sushi restaurants of which Kyoto it one, the only difference from this and any other sushi restaurant is the types of fish you will be served, mainly Salmon, Tuna, Sea Bass and Yellowtail, but you probably will find a wider selection of vegetarian sushi than in normal sushi restaurants. Kyoto Express is the perfect place for a quick lunch in the centre of Jerusalem, the tempura vegetables and selection of noodles dishes are all tasty and generous, as well as pretty authentic tasting. The Sushi in Kyoto is made freshly to order, and is presented beautifully on the traditional wooden sushi plates.

Nestled in a deep valley on the outskirts of Jerusalem it the picturesque village of Ein Kerem. Surrounded by the Jerusalem forests and with a number of springs this sleepy village is home to a community of artisans. There are number of art galleries displaying the work and handicrafts of the residents of Ein Karem, but one small shop stands of from the rest, as here the work is edible. It is the House of Chocolate and small but inviting café, filled with the hand made chocolate of Sima Amsalem. All the chocolates are lovingly hand made in her small factory in an old house down a small quiet road, only the smell of chocolate wafting gently down the road would you know it existed. The chocolates are all made by Sima who amazingly taught herself how to be a chocolatier, and set about creating the myriad of chocolates that she now sells in her shop around the corner.

Cycling in Jerusalem has a low profile, mainly as it is a city of hills, it ends up not being a favorite mode of transport. With the new light rail opening soon and the traffic being as bad a ever the people at festigalgal are trying to raise cycling's profile in the city. The main part of festival this year was a group ride through the centre of Jerusalem with some amazingly decorated bicycles, and it helped to spread a smile with the people around them. Passover - Mea Sharim

Mea Sharim is an Ultra Orthdox Jewish area of Jerusalem, here people are preparing for the Jewish Holiday of Passover. Mea Sharim is on of the most deprived areas in Jerusalem and the local community create a giant food distribution centre for the Passover Holiday, which takes over an entire road. Needless to say the people in Mea Sharim do not like to be photographed and especially by a woman.
