Chris Tian Landed Song Catchy Song on the Grammy Ballot for Grammy Consideration

2025-12-19T09:49:00.000-08:00

"Feel This Way (So SaXxy)" with Chris Tian and legendary saxophonist, Butch Thomas.

This vibrant track elevates the dance floor with a hot beat and live saxophone by Butch, who is notorious for touring with Sting, Lenny Kravitz and performing with Queen Latifah.

The hot track made it on the Grammy ballot for Grammy consideration and placed in Best Dance and Electronic Recording category.

The over 5 octave vocalist and singer/songwriter, Chris Tian, met Butch on St. Pete Beach and later collaborated on this masterpiece.

We asked Chris if he was upset he didn't receive a Grammy nomination, but he told us, "It's about the ride of excitement and connections you make and not always about winning." Chris meant that he made wonderful connections with the Recording Academy members and is so grateful for the opportunity to get his music listened to.

CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD This 'Smart Hulk' Re-Ups With iHeartMedia ... FOR $200 MILLION!!!

2025-12-19T09:36:00.000-08:00

Charlamagne Tha God is here to stay at "The Breakfast Club" and iHeartMedia, despite hater reports ... the radio czar just signed a new $200 million deal with iHeartMedia!!!

Much speculation surrounded Charlamagne's status with iHeart in the wake of the shake-ups at Hot 97, which led to the departure of Ebro Darden, Peter Rosenberg, and a few others.

However, Charlamagne broke the news through Forbes on Friday, expressing his desire to expand his Black Effect network into the "BET" of podcasting!!!

Charlamagne compared himself to Marvel's "Smart Hulk" in the Forbes interview ... "When Bruce Banner learns how to combine himself with The Incredible Hulk, he's Smart Hulk. I'm Lenard McKelvey. Charlamagne is now an extension of that."

The announcement caps off a HUGE week for Charlamagne's 'Breakfast Club' team of DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious and Loren LoRosa -- they inked a Netflix deal earlier this week!!!

Blogger Tasha K claimed her sources informed her Charlamage wasn't renewing with iHeart because of his political views and several others speculated as well ... LOUD AND WRONG!!!

Kendrick Lamar at Super Bowl 'Don't Kill My Vibe' ... Cheers & Jeers for Halftime Show

2025-02-10T09:13:00.000-08:00

Kendrick Lamar is receiving mixed reactions following his NFL Super Bowl LIX halftime performance ... even after he included his extremely popular Drake diss track "Not Like Us" in the lineup.

In addition to the hit song -- which won him five Grammys last week -- he performed other crowd-pleasers, including "gnx," "peekaboo" and "HUMBLE." He also brought out SZA for their hits "All the Stars" and "Luther," and even had Serena Williams -- who once dated Drake -- crip-walking to "Not Like Us." Samuel L. Jackson opened up the performance dressed as Uncle Sam to preside over the show.

But not all viewers were pleased. Many fans slammed the show as "boring," with some even claiming they switched channels to pass the time.

Some displeased viewers rated Kendrick's as the worst halftime show performance they've ever seen ... and others went as far as demanding Roc Nation -- Jay-Z's company that began producing the halftime shows in 2019 -- be banned from controlling a halftime performance ever again.

Drake is probably loving the hate ... but KL got plenty of praise for his performance, too. Viewers applauded him for keeping Drake's name in "Not Like Us" and for bringing his exes into the mix. Others gave him points for playing new music and not just leaning into nostalgia, while also highlighting his creativity for the political messages.

Kendrick followed last year's record-setting Super Bowl -- featuring Usher with Alicia Keys, Jermaine Dupri, H.E.R., will.i.am, Lil Jon and Ludacris at halftime -- which brought in 123.4 million viewers. In fact, last year's game is the second most-watched TV program ever, next to the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing.

Regardless of what people say ... Kendrick is the first rapper to ever headline the big game solo. Plenty of reason for "Pride!"

Andra Day, Usher & Icons Perform At SuperBowl

2024-02-11T17:45:00.000-08:00

The SuperBowl starts off with Andra Day singing, "Lift Every Voice," sending her soul throughout the stadium following Post Malone singing, "America the Beautiful" in the city of Las Vegas.

Following that amazing performance, Reba McEntire eloquently takes the field singing the National Anthem. It was beautifully done!

During the halftime show, Usher glows in a white suit performing elegantly with other dancers on the football field.

Usher than presents Alicia Keys at the piano.

As the "caught up" artist continues he takes his shirts off, not a wardrobe malfunction, singing his heart out!

Lil Jon appears rhyming within a crowd of people performing with Usher. It was an awesome duo!

This was overall a spectacular halftime show.

Five months after a hand-written note teased the new music from Reach Records rising star Hulvey, the undeniably smooth and artistically refreshing new single "Beautiful” is here. The new single "Beautiful," produced by Carvello and Lasanna “Ace” Harris, debuted with a stunning music video July 21^st, with the audio releasing Friday July 22^nd. The Reach Records melodic wunderkind slides through the hills of Los Angeles, accompanied by a choir to score a beautiful depiction of a young man's journey to find his place despite a lack of peace within his surroundings. In the music video for "Beautiful," a truly cinematic art piece directed by Ade Adesina, the main character of the story overcomes spiritual hurdles as the video climaxes in a celebratory worship scene with Hulvey, the video’s star, and the accompanying choir. "This video is really a film, it has layers and very interwoven parts. I’m very excited to take the viewers on a journey. Me and Ade fought our hardest to make it incredible.

About Christopher Hulvey:

Christopher Hulvey is a Brunswick, GA native, signed to Reach Records in 2019 after the success of his hit single “Motions” released on the label’s Summer 2019 playlist as one of the top streamed singles on the project. In 2021 his debut album, Christopher, achieved the No. #8 spot on the Billboard Top Christian/Gospel Albums chart, and #19 at Rap Albums chart.

Drake's YOLO Estate Sells

2022-06-27T13:17:00.000-07:00

Drake YOLO Estate Sells For $12 Million

Drake can pop champagne, because he just unloaded the main residence of his YOLO estate.

TMZ has learned the deal closed Friday, with an unknown buyer scooping up Drake's former pad for $12 million ... which is well below the $14.8 million asking price.

Remember ... Champagne Papi's YOLO estate is made up of 3 contiguous homes in an exclusive neighborhood in Hidden Hills.

Drake put the entire compound on the market back in March, drawing interest from celebs like Britney Spears and Caitlyn Jenner, before Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford dropped $11 million on the 2 smaller homes.

The main residence, which just sold, is an English Tudor ... and it's 12,500 square feet of pure luxury.

The place has all the bells and whistles ... including 6 fireplaces, a wine cellar and tasting room, plus a 25-seat theater and naturally, a recording studio.

The backyard is a total oasis ... featuring a huge swimming pool with a spa grotto, swim-up bar, waterfalls and an 80 foot long rock waterslide, surrounded by big-screen TVs.

Oh and Drake's place also has separate courts to play tennis, basketball and sand volleyball ... plus a horse stable, equestrian ring and a mechanical riding bull.

Safe to say the new owner will be well entertained.

ANDY MINEO’S “COMING IN HOT'' FEATURING LECRAE MAKES ITS TRILLER CHART DEBUT THREE YEARS AFTER ITS RELEASE

2021-05-04T09:14:00.000-07:00

Viral Hit Song Peaks At # 2 On Triller’s Global Chart & #3 On Triller’s Global Chart

Atlanta, GA (April 30, 2021) -- It has been three years since Andy Mineo released“Coming In Hot” featuring Lecrae on Reach Records’ summer playlist 2018, and after its recent viral takeover on social media trending at #2 on Instagram Reels, the song went global and landed itself at #2 on Billboard’s Triller US Chart and #3 on Triller’s Global Chart.

The Top Triller U.S. and Top Triller Global charts highlight the biggest songs on Triller based on a formula blending the amount of views of videos containing respective songs, the level of engagement with those videos and the raw total of videos uploaded featuring each song, according to Triller.

The song had a recent spike across all DSPs that seems to be credited to large amounts of user generated content across social platforms. Since January, the record has seen a 400% increase in day-over-day streams. Well on its way to be RIAA certified Gold, “Coming In Hot” has sold over 450,000 units to date, without any radio or major label support, has been used on TikTok more than 51,000 times and featured on Instagram Reels over 200,000 times including reels by Kim Karadashian, Jordyn Woods, Kristen Bell, Common and more. Additionally, since it was released in 2018, it was used to launch Will Smith's inaugural TikTok channel, was selected by Steph Curry as theme song to his life and Lebron James and the Steelers has featured the song across social media. Fox Sports and ESPN MLB also highlighted the viral hit for various promotions, and it was also featured during the NFC Offence Video and 创造营2020 (CHUANG2020) (Chinese Girl Band Competition)."

This is one of many hits for Andy Mineo and Lecrae, both artists signed to indie Atlanta-based label Reach Records. Mineo, has been blazing his own path since releasing his debut mixtape in 2011 with the critically lauded Formerly Known. Since then he garnered a #1 Independent record with his sophomore album Uncomfortable, that also landed at # 3 and #10 on Billboard’s Hip Hop and Top 200 album charts. With two full-length albums and three mixtapes under his belt, he also headlined the Uncomfortable Tour, a 52-city tour which sold out legendary venues across America and Europe. He has appeared on countless radio shows and TV shows, including Sirius XM’s Sway In The Morning and MTV. His colossal hit “You Can’t Stop Me” not only won an ESPN Whammy Award for MLB’s Top Walk Up Song, but also went RIAA ® certified gold, selling over 500,000 copies worldwide. Andy Mineo carries his music beyond through scripting, producing and directing many of his own music videos. He also created a 3-season web series on YouTube called “Saturday Morning Car-Tunez” which garnered over 1M views and gave fans a glimpse into his creative process and personal life. Beyond the critical adulation, he is a born communicator with comedic timing who has become a social media juggernaut with an audience of over 1.2M and growing.

A Multi Grammy Award-winning platinum selling artist, Lecrae has evolved into a New York Times best-selling author, entrepreneur, speaker, thought leader, philanthropist, and Co-Owner/President of Reach Records. A catalyst for restoration in faith, music, and popular culture, he is part of the new wave of thought leaders who are engaging the culture and taking faith out of the pulpits into the wider world! To date, Lecrae has sold more than 3 million copies and been nominated for 7 Grammy Awards including a win for Best Gospel Album, 15 Dove Awards, one Billboard Music Award and received both a Soul Train Music Awards and a BET Hip-Hop Nomination. From his 2017 album, All Things Work Together, his single “I’ll Find You” ft. Tori Kelly, is now certified platinum by the RIAA (sold over 1 million copies), “Blessings” ft Ty Dolla $ign and “Coming In Hot,” Andy Mineo ft Lecrae is on its way to going Gold (sold over 450k). POST MALONE Causes Frenzy At Card Shop DROPS THOUSANDS ON 'MAGIC' CARDS!!!

2021-04-29T21:07:00.004-07:00

Post Malone’s brought the magic touch to one collectible shop ... 'cause his mere presence alone brought fans out in droves to watch him spend bank on Magic: The Gathering.

We're told the "Circles" rapper hit up the super popular Frank & Son Collectible Show shop Thursday in Industry, CA -- just outside L.A. -- and he was on the hunt for some very pricey 'Magic' cards.

For the too-cool-for-school kids ... MTG is a collectible and digital collectible card game that hit the market back in the early 1990s. The game astoundingly has around 35 million players as of 2018, and more than 20 BILLION cards have reportedly been produced to meet the incredible demand!

As you can see ... Posty's a HUGE fan, and once fans got word he was in town looking to plunk down some serious cash, they swarmed the collectible shop as if he were the Pied Piper.

We're told PM signed autographs for fans before dropping thousands of dollars on a slate of cards. He's so passionate about the game, he was rocking an MTG button-up when he appeared on "Late Night with Seth Meyers."

Fans went bananas trying to figure out how to get their hands on the $135 shirt. They also started speculating it was probably PM who dropped $511k for the highly-coveted alpha Black Lotus card when it sold earlier this year.

No word if Posty's behind that transaction, but lets not forget -- he's no stranger to dropping serious cash for the things he loves most.

The Weeknd, Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj Slam Grammys After 2021 Nominations Announced

2020-11-25T13:23:00.009-08:00

Not holding back! The Weeknd called out the Grammys hours after the 2021 nominations were announced on Tuesday, November 24.

All of the Biggest 2020 Album Releases: Selena, Justin, Dua Lipa and More

“The Grammys remain corrupt,” the “Blinding Lights” singer, 30, tweeted on Tuesday. “You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…”

The Weeknd was shut out completely by the Recording Academy despite his album, After Hours, and its many singles being a staple on the airwaves. During 2020, he had two singles land in the top 10 on the Billboard charts and six songs make it on the Billboard Global 200 list.

The “Save Your Tears” artist, who earned eight 2020 American Music Awards nominations last month and won three trophies on Sunday, November 22, was not alone in his gripes against how the Grammys picks nominees. Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj threw shade at the awards show on social media for their own reasons on Tuesday.

The “Yummy” singer, 26, who was nominated for four Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Vocal Album voiced his issues with his album, Changes, being classified as a pop album and not a R&B record.

Stars' First Grammy Appearances

“Please don’t mistake this as me being ungrateful, these are just my thoughts take em or leave em. Thank you to the people who fought for me to even have any noms,” Bieber prefaced his Instagram message regarding his gripe with the academy.

The Canadian crooner penned a let to the Grammys noting he is “flattered to be acknowledged and appreciated for my artistry” before breaking down why his album should not be classified as a pop record.

“I am very meticulous and intentional about my music. With that being said I set out to make an R&B album. Changes was and is an R&B album,” he wrote. “It is not being acknowledged as an R&B album which is very strange to me. I grew up admiring R&B music and wished to make a project that would embody that sound. For this not to be put into that category feels weird considering from the chords to the melodies to the vocal style all the way down to the hip hop drums that were chosen it is undeniably, unmistakably an R&B album!”

He concluded by saying he “absolutely love[s] Pop music, [but] it just wasn’t what I set out to make this time around. My gratitude for feeling respected for my work remains and I am honored to be nominated either way.”

Exes Who Attended Awards Shows: From Jen and Brad to Selena and Justin

Minaj, for her part, brought up a past Grammys issue after Bon Iver earned a nod for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for his collaboration with Taylor Swift on “Exile.”

“Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my best new artist award when I had 7 songs simultaneously charting on billboard & bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade- went on to inspire a generation,” the “Tusa” rapper, 37, tweeted. “They gave it to the white man Bon Iver. #PinkFriday.”

Minaj was up against Bon Iver, which is a folk group founded by Justin Vernon, in 2012 for Best New Artist, which she lost. Bon Iver also took home the trophy for Alternative Music Album that year. The “Anaconda” rapper, however, has yet to win a Grammy.

T.I., Big Sean, Kardashians Feeding the Needy in Hometowns ... Just In Time for Turkey Day

2019-11-27T08:03:00.000-08:00

Hollywood seems eager to give back this year ahead of another Thanksgiving where their own bellies are sure to be full -- with some even heading back home to help others.

Celebs like T.I., Big Sean and the Kardashians were out in force this week as well as last, handing out grub to those less fortunate in anticipation of Turkey Day -- and they seemed to make a point to head to their stomping grounds to give back to their communities.

Sean, for example, was in River Rouge, MI Tuesday -- just outside his native Detroit -- where he was handing out frozen poultry at a high school. It's his 7th year doing it with his non-profit ... an event he's dubbed the Annual All-Star Giveback: Thanksgiving Edition.

Tip did something similar, arriving in Atlanta Tuesday for his own annual giveaway, except his gifts seemed to have a bit more green in them than maybe your standard food basket.

Then, we have the Kardashians -- Kim, Kourtney, Kris and Corey Gamble, specifically -- who came out together over the weekend to a food bank in L.A. to do pretty much the same.

As you know ... 21 Savage got in on the giving as well -- but he busted out the hot meals right on the spot for about 300 families at a YMCA down in DeKalb County, GA.

Good to see the rich and famous know how to pay it forward ... Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Tekashi69 Wiretap Reveals Shooting Threats From Ex-Crew Members

2018-11-28T20:35:00.000-08:00

Tekashi69 was in mortal danger just before he got arrested for racketeering charges, and the feds say they have the proof on tape.

The feds wiretapped several ex-members of Tekashi's crew and the transcript -- obtained by TMZ -- is pretty damming ... including a convo about "feeding" Tekashi after his appearance on "The Breakfast Club." Prosecutors believe "feed" means unloading bullets.

One of the taps was on Jamel Jones -- gang name, Mel Murda -- a former member of 6ix9ine's inner circle, who is now behind bars.
During the convo, Jones says, "[Tekashi] is trying to dry snitch at the same time, homie. But he keep saying, f*** Treway, f*** that n****, Treyway. Ain't no n****, Treway. F*** Treway."
Tekashi's former manager Kifano Jordan, aka Shotti, responds with laughter and says, "Imma feed him though."

TMZ broke the story ... Tekashi was busted earlier this month on racketeering charges and prosecutors believed Tekashi was in danger of getting shot. The transcripts -- which refer to Tekashi by his birth name, Daniel Hernandez -- seem to graphically describe the danger.
Tekashi's former crew members were also recorded saying how Tekashi tried to separate himself from the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods after firing his entire staff. The feds recorded an unnamed crew member saying, "That's cool. Now he gotta get violated."
Jones replied, "Yeah, super violated. Super duper. Ain't no much he could really do unless he run around with 100 armed securities all day."
The wiretap transcript was included in a government filing requesting Jones remain locked up until his trial, because he's a "significant danger" to the community.

The Queen of Soul Legend "Angel" Aretha Franklin Now in Heaven

2018-08-16T08:29:00.000-07:00

Sad days of another great artist, person and legend has died. Known for her amazing voice and talent, Aretha Franklin was an inspiration to many of R&b/ Soul/urban artists that are out in the spotlight today.

Here on UrbanMusicBuzz, we reflect on the classic songs Aretha sang, "Respect," "Natural Woman," "Freeway of Love" just name a few…

The amazing thing we can say about Aretha is that she was also an astounding pianist which shows the skills and growth of her true and flawless talent in the music business.

Soul Artist and sensation Chris Tian says:

"I love Aretha Franklin who brought every listener so much charm in her music like myself. When Aretha hits those high notes and riffs down, her riffs are so clean without any flat notes. That is what you call priceless soul!"

James Prince Says Drake Would've Ended Kanye with Next Diss Track

2018-06-04T13:42:00.000-07:00

Kanye West should consider himself lucky Drake isn't firing back at Pusha T, 'cause the track he recorded would've blown up Ye's career ... according to James Prince.
The Rap-A-Lot Records CEO tells us Drake was, in fact, ready to respond to Pusha's "The Story of Adidon" before J Prince stepped in and told him to stand down. According to Prince, what Drake had "cocked and loaded" would've "ended" Kanye, and caused a lot of pain. He insists they're not in the business of destroying families ... which is why he told Drizzy to stand down.
J Prince also doubled down on not resorting to a "pig pen mentality," which he clearly believes Pusha did by attacking Drake's mom, dad, and terminally ill producer. He doesn't consider this an L for Drake either -- despite what fans might be saying.

Of course, Pusha might look at it as a W -- he was hailed as a hero during Kanye's album listening party last week. Shortly after that, Kanye himself said the feud was "dead."
I’ve never been about beef I’m about love lines were crossed and it’s not good for anyone so this is dead now

— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) June 2, 2018
Hard to say if Ye was getting ahead of a potential situation, but that's all moot now ... 'cause the beef is officially squashed. BTW, Prince's book, 'The Art and Science of Respect,' is out now and he talks about some other famous rap beefs, which didn't end well.

Check Out The New CeeLo-produced Song and Video

"Sex In The City" HERE

Atlanta, GA - April 17, 2017 - Ali Aura - the first artist signed to CeeLo Green's Mothership Entertainment Group - has released a sultry new track and video titled "Sex In The City" (Mothership Ent. Group/Sony RAL). It's a smooth ballad, with Aura's vocal displaying a reserved passion that makes the track sizzle. The CeeLo-produced song's moody keyboards and minimal percussion keeps the focus on his sensual vocals. In the video, he exudes the confidence of a seasoned performer, his warm smile inviting you into a world of luxurious satisfaction.

"Sex In The City" is available on iTunes and Spotify now. Watch the Slick Two Three-directed video here: http://bit.ly/2pqaePb

"I'm elated beyond words about the world finally witnessing what we consider to be the future of "universoul" music. I'm certain this is the start of something big and it doesn't hurt having Sony seconding that notion," says CeeLo Green.

Ali Aura was pursuing his dream of becoming a professional singer by posting videos on Instagram. One of them, a cappella cover of Maxwell's "Pretty Wings," earned a comment from Maxwell on his Instagram page. Shortly thereafter, Ali was discovered by "Success" Ceo Of 88era Entertainment on Instagram's explorer page, his crooning quickly caught the attention of CeeLo Green, who signed him to his Mothership label. CeeLo's Mothership label is a joint venture with Sony Music Entertainment.

Aura came to New York from Kazakhstan when he was 21. Growing up, he used the internet to soak up American soul and R&B, singing along to develop his voice and learn English. In his teens, he was signed to a production deal that didn't work out. After which, he joined his father's band. After a year, he came to New York. Through the power of social media coupled with the tenacity of growing his followers to 21K, Ali was discovered by 88Era and the rest is history. Ali is the first man from overseas to sign with CeeLo's Mothership Entertainment Group.
