Why Virat Kohli Is The Most Qualified To Captain India

2017-01-31T10:46:00.002-08:00

Indian cricket is not just cricket, it's something more... It's always been more than cricket. There is something about our cricket team that makes us extremely emotional about the game. An Indian cricketer is probably more stressed than any other cricketer of this world. He/she must be adept at handling not just the pressures of international cricket but also an emotional fan base and an unforgiving media. You may be the toast of the nation on one day but may be roasted by all the very next day. It is therefore an amazement how the Indian cricketers handle pressure in day to day life.

There is one guy in this Indian team who is a cut above the others. He has had a great career and in this short journey, he has probably seen all the ups and downs there could ever be and still come out triumphant. Virat Kohli is the new Indian captain across all the formats since MS Dhoni abdicated from the throne of thorns. Here is why Virat is the most qualified cricketer of the current generation to lead Team India:

1. Never Giving Up Attitude: Virat has a penchant for doing the impossible time and again. His pyrotechnics in Australia can never be forgotten. Or to see the latest of many examples, the first ODI vs England was an unforgettably good innings. His attitude of trying to win the games from hopeless situations and never settling down for the second best results is extremely refreshing.

2. Extreme Focus: No one can forget the U-19 World Cup final that Virat won as the Captain of India. With only one ball to be bowled, most of the Indian cricketers started celebrating but not him. Virat hushed them with a finger-on-the-lips gesture. His respect for cricket and its glorious uncertainties was extremely obvious then.

3. Undying Commitment: People may talk about his indiscipline, partying habits or onfield verbal abuses that he peppers the opposition with. But there is a lot that goes into the making of a Virat Kohli. He knocks the ball longer in the nets than most other teammates, pays a lot of attention to his fielding skills and works out in the gym regularly. The result is an ultra mean machine. His work ethic rubs on all of his teammates and they want to emulate his skill and fitness levels.

4. Brilliant Cricketing Brain: Virat Kohli has proved to be a calculated risk taker not just with the bat in his hand but also as the captain of Indian test team which he has been an in-charge of for quite a while. His unorthodox use of bowlers and field placements have baffled even the most formidable of the opponents.

5. Thrives Under Pressure: Virat is known to thrive under pressure. High pressure chases, high voltage clashes, big finals... basically, whenever chips are down, he has come out stronger. His ability to not just handle pressure but thrive under it is a great qualification for an Indian captain to have.

Some of the funniest TV shows to watch are:

1. Impractical Jokers

They say they are four lifelong friends. I doubt it. No friend does to a friend what they do to each other. These guys are evil. Except for Joe, he's my favourite!

2. Whose Line Is It Anyway?

I love improv. I am not particularly good at it, but I really appreciate it. The show is really funny. I suggest that you wear seatbelts while watching this show to prevent falling.

3. Family Guy

Family Guy is a great show. Peter Griffin is a below-average American(LOL), his wife Lois is really wonderful. Who cares? The guy to watch out for is Stewie Griffin. He is a real asshole with matricidal tendencies!!!!

4. The Simpsons

Need I say more? It's been up since 1989 and is still the most enjoyable TV show.

5. AFV
