However, discount prescription glasses are available not only online but in the high street too. To give you some idea of just how much the prices have dropped, consider that my Mum’s nice, but not designer, glasses from 15 years or so back cost £150. Even designer glasses come for half that these days. Gone too are the cheapo NHS children’s styles and in their place are freebie glasses for the kids but in quite modern designs.

The prices have dropped so much that I even picked up a pair for myself for those days when I can’t be bothered with the contact lenses (which, surprisingly, aren’t any cheaper): all of £10!

Take clamps for instance or rather different sized ones. There will be a size or perhaps a small number of sizes which you use quite regularly but others which you used once for a job many years ago and figure that you’ll never ever use them again so they get dumped. Likewise for those screws for that long finished cabinet that you’re “never” gonna use again along with a whole host of other stuff.

Of course, the snag is that if you do keep all the stuff, there’s no chance whatsoever of you finding it when you actually do need it!

Consider my Dad who died a couple of years ago. He had policies dating back to the 1930s that we know of and probably a number of others that we don’t know of.

Although life insurance is one of those “good things” that you know you should have, the snag is that having such policies means a commitment to pay them for a rather long time and to keep the original policy documents just as long. I’m sure there are loads of people out there who have a number of long since forgotten about policies as over such a long time you’ve moved house a few times and the insurance company itself has probably been taken over a few times as well.

Is it worthwhile spending time on tracking them down? Well, it depends. Most of the 1930s era policies were written in the days when one assumed that one’s children would die and moreover in a time when money was worth more. Typically, “penny policies” are commonly found and even after such a long time they’re not worth more than a couple of hundred pounds. Not money you’d want to throw away obviously but not worth losing sleep over either.

For one thing you need to remember that a consultant may well come with a wealth of experience behind them but on the other hand they’re only “yours” for a fairly short period of time. The snag is that as with the economic crisis the sleep problems can seem to go on for quite a while. That being so it’s not such a good idea to be relying long term on artificial drugs and perhaps natural sleep aids would be a better way to look.

Much better though is to try and tackle the problems that are causing your lack of sleep. Not always easy for sure but you should at least try.

To begin with we’ve the French car which needs insured and indeed imported properly to here. You’d think that would be a doddle these days with all the common European laws and the importing is a fairly simple (if expensive) thing to do. Snag is that our particular car model was never sold here so the insurance for it is really serious cash.

Next up is a change in the insurance of the other car which is going to be a bit of hassle as transferring over our insurance record from France isn’t nearly so simple as you’d expect that it should be.

Oh well, better get going on it I suppose.

Of course it’s a combination of those things that are going on in their lives that causes the acne problem in the first place. Not that they find that much compensation really.

What’s eating normally though? Well, obviously being on a diet of any kind doesn’t count as eating normally though it does depend on how extreme your diet regime is.

However, you can find that prenatal vitamins are recommended. What such a supplement programme does is ensure that you have enough of everything that your baby may need. Quite a lot of the time we get away with being a bit short of one or two of these vitamins but it’s not really a good move to be short of something vital where babies are concerned.

OK, you’ll know what cycles are and nobody knows what the various weights machines are called. But what about the ellipticals? Don’t know what they are? Neither did I until I realised that they’re what’s generally called the ski-ing machines (or at least that’s what I call them).

Once you’ve gotten past that problem then you’ll have to work your way up to asking about nutrition or rather about all the heaps of supplements that seem associated with gyms these days. Whether they’re “legal” for athletes isn’t an issue for us amateurs but that doesn’t simplify the issues surrounding them. And, no, you probably can’t just ignore them if you’re serious about getting fitter as sooner or later you’ll reach the point where you need to actually eat more to build muscle and supplements will enter your life at that point.
