Most of Accra, with the exception of a few downtown neighborhoods is clearly laid out, making it extremely easy to find your way around. Do not be afraid to wander, take out time to carefully explore the city.
Avoid help from strangers: Especially when traveling alone, when you arrive at the airport, a lot of people rush to offer some form or assistance -either to carry your luggage or assist you with information. Most times, their offers are exceedingly cheap or enticing. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Don't be a bottleneck. Try to stay away from situations that will cause a delay for any other person (especially the locals) as that might put you in a disagreement...and you do not want that. For instance if you are taking a bus or any other public transport system, have your change. Also, if there is a wait for something or a bottleneck, don't mob it - form a line. And when a line has been formed do not try to cut it. Seriously.
Avoid drawing attention to yourself. Do not stand on street corners looking at maps or doing anything as quirky. Do your best to walk self-confidently, as this will deter many criminals. Don't flaunt jewelry, cameras, your smartphone or cash in public. If you need to organize your wallet, look for a hidden corner or wait till you get back to the safe confines of your hotel room.
Use caution when using ATMs and do not carry large amounts of cash around with you .
When in doubt of your destination or the safety of a neighborhood, take a cab. Alternatively, if you feel uncomfortable or lost, approach a police officer or a friendly store owner (in a public place) to get your bearings or directions.

Last year, I responded to Muhammad Afzal Chowdary's linkedin Pulse blog regarding the Status of Mother's in Islam - see Muhammad's article and look for for the comments it generated at http://www.linkedin.com/pulse/status...afzal-chowdary . Or did I ?

Anyway, here is the full response which I thought I had generated at the time. But I had probably taken several days to draft it, and then forgot about it, as more pressing matters came to hand.

Muhammad had reminded us that we are responsible to "Do good to and serve your mother, then your mother, then your mother, then your father, then the near relatives and then those who come after them." (Al-Bukhari, 5971)

Here was my intended full response to his blog:

Dear Muhammad and readers

I certainly can agree with you that we should "Celebrate Mother's Day... every day", especially if "Islam has effectively placed the ultimate reward for human beings in their devotion to their mothers", and since I too, like you " will always keep my mother close to my heart. After all she is my connection to the divine and I am truly grateful for the occasion to reflect on that".

Yes, each one of us (as one-world citizens, Believers and disbelievers alike, Kufr, Kaffir, Infidels or not), should "appreciate what we have in our mothers": "They are our teachers and our role models. Every day with them is an opportunity to grow as a person. Every day away from them is an opportunity missed." We are to look to our mother's and to our women, not to mere men, to learn about what it means to be loving and kind.

Personally, I do not subscribe to the "religious" use of acronyms like PBUH for "Peace Be Upon Him" or "Praise Be Unto Him" when referring to any particular Prophet, without thinking of "Her", also. Nor should we think of Muslims as opposed to Non-muslims, since we have ALL been created as "free and equal one-world citizens" by the "Almighty" who, or which must be BOTH Male AND Female, at the very least, and probably, much more besides (eg - as described in the 100 Names of Allah*).

COMPULSORARY, or even "required" habitual use of PBUH, SAW, SAWS, SW, etc is actually "abuse" in that it is not loving and kind, since it refuses to look at the "other". Compulsion artificially "puffs up" the abusers (irreligious "leaders"), while "putting down" (pricking or shafting) the led for no good reason.

Even "mandated" habitual public wearing of outdated clothing 24/7 is "compulsion". ABUSE of the worst kind, since it takes away an individual's freedom of expression to love and to relate to others as equals as they should. There can be no compulsion (abuse) in Religion.

If we accept the "GOLDEN RULE" as the true, finely balanced premise upon which we may propose "Laws for the Advancement of Community, world-wide", then we must take notice of the following guides to "GOOD GOD" living and loving, which are consonant with it (from wherever and from whomever they may spring, over the ages, and even to the present moment):

" No one of you is a believer until he/she desires for his/her brother/sister that which s/he desires for him or her self (Sunnah). For you (individually) is your religion and for me is my religion (Koran 109.6).

And to remember always, without let or hindrance:

" Do not steal or cheat or lie.... Do not take advantage of anyone, or rob.... Do not maliciously cause another to stumble.... Be honest and just when you make decisions.... Do not show favouritism.... And when someone is on trial, speak out if your testimony can help him (or her)..... Do not bear a grudge against anyone, but settle your differences, so that you will not commit a sin.... Do not take revenge on anyone, or continue to hate, but LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF. I am the Lord (Leviticus 19.11-18).

" There are seven things that our Creating Lord God hates and cannot tolerate: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that kill innocent people, a mind that thinks up wicked plans, feet that hurry off to do evil, a witness who tells one lie after another, and someone who stirs up trouble among friends (Proverbs 6.16).

We are to be kind, even to our animals (and whenever, or wherever we cannot love, we must at the very least, respect, and do no harm) - based on Proverbs 12.10, which says " Good people take care of their animals, but the wicked are cruel....

" Speak of goodness to people. (Koran 2.83); There is No Compulsion in Religion (Koran 2.256); Righteousness is not whether you face towards the east or the west (Koran, 2.177). Allah (God) is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (Qur'an 9:5).

" These verses are precise in meaning: they are the foundation of The Book. (Koran 3.7).

" God has told us what is good; to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with our God (and we must also surmise, each other, as well) (Micah 6.8).

" These words are like the sharp sticks that shepherds use to guide sheep, and are as lasting as firmly driven nails. They have been given by God, the one Shepherd of us - All (Ecclesiastes 12.11).

And it should do us the world of good for us to remember "this" about "prophets" both male and female throughout history - which is her story too (they are not God):

" I, even I, who you call your leader, am no better than you yourselves are. I am like as yourselves, subject to all manner of infirmities in body and mind; for I am also of the dust. I have been suffered to spend my days in your service. I have not done these things that I might boast; I tell you these things that you may know that I can answer a clear conscience before God, this day.

" For when you are in the service of your fellow beings, you are only in the service of your God. All God requires of you is to keep the commandments of Love. So render all your thanks and praise which your whole soul has power to possess: live in peace, one with another (Mosiah 2.11-26).

Regarding the asterisk * above and hereafter: "Verily, there are ninety-nine names of God, one hundred minus one. He* who enumerates them would get into Paradise." (Sahih Muslim, Vol. 4, p. 1410) "In Sufism, the idea of the 100th name is most prominent. It has become the elusive object of mystic devotion, the symbol of God's transcendent being."

In fact, "Sufis (and many others) often describe their discipline as the quest to know the one-hundredth name of God and thus to merge their consciousness with the divine reality". I wonder on how better can we define a God of Great Mercy, than by acknowledging the Feminine within the Divine ? Surely this is why we should revere our mothers, as well, and to Love, as they do !

I certainly agree with you Muhammad that we should "Celebrate Mother's Day... every day", especially if "Islam has effectively placed the ultimate reward for human beings in their devotion to their mothers", and since I too, like you "will always keep my mother close to my heart. After all she is my connection to the divine and I am truly grateful for the occasion to reflect on that" fact, again.

Yes, each one of us (as one-world citizens, Believers and disbelievers alike, Kufr, Kaffir, Infidels, heretics or not), should "appreciate what we have in our mothers": "They are our teachers and our role models. Every day with them is an opportunity to grow as a person. Every day away from them is an opportunity missed." We are to look to our mother's and to our women, not to mere men only, to learn about what it means to be loving and kind.

And, given the parlous state we find our world in at this time, it is time we did !

If we sincerely believe that "ISLAM" stands for "I Shall Love All Mankind", rather than "(just ?!) I Sincerely Love All Muslims (co-religionists)", then we should say so, and stop calling non-Muslims "unbelievers", "infidels", "heretics", "kufrs", "kaffirs", "abominations" etc, since we all spring from the same source; we should recognize each other as "Children of God" and behave "Lovingly", accordingly. It is time to stop playing the sexist, racist, and religio-phobic card, so that we can greet and meet each other as Equals, as our "Good God" intended, all along:

If we want a peaceful, stable and sustainable world, we have to learn to 'live with' those we instinctively regard as 'other', but that 'living' does not mean that we should 'kowtow' or submit to any one.

The following words below (which fly in the face of thoughts which SHOULD honour his mother) were taken from the video-clip of Shaykh al-Huwayni, explaining (according to him) "Islamic Doctrine of Offensive Jihad and Taking" (at 7.37/8.35 - SEE http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=tssBq4jCWtw ):

" When I want a sex-slave, I just go to the market and choose the woman I like and purchase her. I choose the man I like, one with strong muscles, or, if I want a boy to work in the house, and so forth, I choose one, and pay him a wage. I employ him in a variety of tasks. Then I sell him afterwards.

" Now the country that I entered and took captive its men and women - does it not also have money, gold and silver ? Is that not money ? When I say that "Jihad" - "offensive jihad" - with the well known conditions that I already mentioned from the hadith of the Prophet (PBUH), from the hadith of Burayda in Sahih Muslim, the coffers of the Muslims were full.

" Would someone who is pious and intelligent - would he say that is some kind of poverty ? Or that it is a type of wealth ? No - this will fill the coffers of the Muslims with riches and wealth, but as I've said, with the recognized conditions....

Now dear friends reading this linkedin Pulse blog of our mother revering friend Muhammad Afzal Chowdary, and if you have followed my comments thus far, you will realize that love of parents and respect for each other cannot and does not give credence or any credit to this evil Shaykh al-Huwayni's opinions, which shame himself, and spits in the face of his Creator. It is when we see his unholy thought propagated as "Islamic" Doctrine that we should gnash our teeth, and sever him from Islamic society, for he reveals himself to be no more than a common murderer and thief, and worse.

We must wonder how Allah will "reward" such a one, if Allah be Loving and Kind, and al-Huwayni remains unrepentant. It is for such a reason that one man barely 100 years ago truthfully stated "Religion should unite all hearts, and cause wars and disputes to vanish from the face of the earth; it should give birth to spirituality, and bring light and life to every soul. If religion becomes a cause of dislike, hatred and division it would be better to be without it, and to withdraw from such a religion would be a truly religious act.... Any religion which is not a cause of love and unity is no religion." — Abdu'l-Bahá (from a talk given in Paris in 1911).

Islam is fortunate that it does have kind minds proclaiming its core message (which is the same for every religion worthy of the name) like Muhammad Afzal Chowdary who has invited me to connect with him at linkedin where I blog as an "Interfaith Professional", having been first co-opted to speak as a "campaigner for equal rights within religion" at the 5th Parliament of the Wold's Religions in 2009. In that same year I also conversed with Shaykh Hisham Kabbani at Melbourne's Theosophical Society.

Shaykh Kabbani is of the Naqshbandi-Haqqani Sufi Order, and advocates an understanding of Islam based on peace, tolerance, respect and love. According to my internet search, he is an outspoken critic of extremism of any stripe. He also recognized the wisdom of Omar Khayyám, Persia's 11th Century CE reluctant Muslim, whose poetic work eclipsed even his fame as a mathematician, astronomer, physician and scientist. Apparently, Khayyám penned the following lines: "Believe me, I can quote the Koran too, The unbeliever knows his Koran best", which puts paid to the idea that unbelievers are somehow "unworthy".

It is our kindness in the face of adversity which demonstrates our worth.

Omar Khayyám even goes so far as to say " Your irreligion is my religion ! 7d", " I am my own "man", whatever I am ! 20d, and that " Freedom from religion is my religion ! 7b. Of course, what he may have said and written so long ago is a moot point today, as it is with everything from antiquity. But hopefully, modern methods will stand unoppressed by would-be tyrants and destroyers of history.

Hopefully, we will gain our freedom from such Barbary.

Hearts full of love will do anything NOT to beggar themselves, since that negative action lives life backwards. To live life "backwards" or "negatively" (in the wrong direction) creates the word "evil". It is the word "live" spelled backwards.

That is why Good (Kind/Godly) People everywhere must RESIST THE FORCES OF EVIL people EVERYWHERE, so that we might positively inherit for ourselves and our children "a peaceful, stable and sustainable world" though our own kindly applied values of "tolerance, liberalism and egalitarianism".

" WORSHIP is an all-inclusive term for all that God loves of external and internal sayings and (kind)* actions of a person. Worship implies reverence and respect, not slavish subjugation. In other words, worship is everything (GOOD)* one says or does for the pleasure of Allah (Good God)*. This of course, (may)* include rituals as well as beliefs, social activities, and personal contributions to the WELFARE of society."

If God "Loves", and/or indeed IS "LOVE", then my bracketed and asterisked insertions should make sense to EVERYONE. I CAN ONLY PRAY THAT IT DOES, AND THAT YOU WILL JOIN ME IN THIS HOPE, THAT THE VERY BEST IN US, WILL BE EXERCISED IN US, THROUGH OUR OWN KIND ACTIONS TO MAKE/RECREATE A BETTER WORLD.

The 6th Parliament of the World's Religions shall soon be held in Salt Lake City* (was held in 2015), USA. It is (and was) an opportunity for people to showcase the goodness which can be found in all peoples and in all religions worthy of the name.

If We Don't Teach Peace, What Are We Teaching ? If we don't promote Love and Respect and the Equality of All humankind, what are we teaching ? The 6th Parliament makes (made) it clear: "Reclaiming the Heart of Our Humanity" is (was) its 2015 catchcry; "Working Together for a World of Compassion, Peace, Justice and Sustainability"....

It's time to throw the baggage out. ....

Eid Al Fitr 2016 is just days away, you might either be thrilled about the upcoming holidays or getting prepared to be bored out of your wits!
The Eid Al Fitr (also known as Eid ul-Fitr, Eid al-Fitr, Id-Ul-Fitr, Eid) is a joyous occasion best experienced with family and friends. Beginning at the start of the month of Shawwal, Eid Al Fitr is the celebration that marks the end of the Holy month of Ramadan.
The devout Muslim starts his day by listening to sermons (khutba) at the communal gathering to pray.
Having a giving heart is a popular sermon during this period; Muslims are enjoined to give zakat al-fitr (charity in the form of food) during Eid al-Fitr.
In Ghana, Zakat al-fitr is a form of charity consisting of a variety of local food or its monetary value.
Muslims travel to different parts of Ghana to participate in festivities organized by prominent Muslim communities in Tamale and Accra.
Some people spend the day feasting till they pass out, while other invest their time in fun activities. We've listed below a few suggestions on things to do in Ghana this Eid Al Fitr holiday.
1. Go shopping and stay entertained
The major shopping malls in Accra are usually packed with a never ending trail of shoppers, seeking to buy a gift for their loved ones. The various shops give out last minutes discounts to increase, making it the merrier for even non-Muslims. Just before going shopping couples usually hang out at the Cinemas to catch a movie.
2. Visiting the beach
Enjoy the early morning sun in a resort in Ghana. Accra offers some of the finest beaches in Africa. If you've been busy all year, it time to get out and become one with nature.
Make sure to check out popular Accra beaches such as Kokrobite Beach and Labadi Beach.
3. Get in touch with family and friends
When celebrating far away from home, regardless of how much fun you've had it always feels incomplete without family. Thanks to technologies like Skype Reaching out to family and experiencing the day with them is possible. It is common for International students to set up dinner Video conference to eat with their family and friends.
4. Enjoy the holidays indoor
It might take some planning and a mix of people to have a fun day indoor. It's always better to start with a little feast, gather your friends to enjoy some listed fun activities such as board games, painting and charades.
To end the night, pick a blockbuster movie and enjoy a bowl of popcorn with your friends.
Regardless of your plans for Eid Al Fitr, remember it doesn't require a lot of money or planning, it only requires you have some fun and relax.
Happy Eid Mubarak!

Last summer I enjoyed my vacation in Ghana. It took meticulous planning and discipline to pull it off as I was on a tight budget. With its exquisite beaches, famous landmarks and enchanting beauty, Ghana is the traveler's dream. Like many people dream of visiting Africa and put it off for year because we fear the expenses. While not the regular adventure traveler I was able make my vacation a reality at an affordable cost.
I put together some tips to help you find cheap accommodations and save money on transportation, food and accommodation like I did on my visit to Ghana
Set your daily spending limit
When going on vacation, it is always advisable to set a spending limit and stick to it. This might mean being camping, cooking your own meals and staying in cheap hotels. Going by my assessments of most holiday packages I couldn't get a hotel for less than 150 Cedis (about $50) per night in the capital Accra. I found out that by eating out at local restaurants and doing most of my shopping in the popular Makola Market in the city center of Accra. I was able to able to stick to my maximum budget of $150 daily.
Book in advance
Before booking your accommodation, make sure that is all you are paying for. Some hotel booking websites allow you specify rooms without breakfast, mini-bars, WIFI and other features that make hotels expensive.
When making your flight reservation you might want to avoid taking off or arriving during peak periods of Fridays and Saturdays. Also do some research on your points of Interest and how much it will cost you.
Staying with Locals
Just when I thought I was making some savings on hotels, I discovered AirBnb in Ghana was way cheaper. These apartments had facilities for cooking basic grocery and cost came very cheap. The hostel accommodations in Accra offered a good bed, a common room and had a small restaurant that catered to our feeding.

It will be the dawn of a new day when we Nigerians learn to start putting long term collective interests ahead of immediate personal interests. I"m not sure i agree with MJ's strategy as the best way to achieve collective interests, but if the so called Avengers represent the collective will of the Delta people, then it clearly trumps personal interests. The real question is ....how genuine are these people and are they representing the people or just their own selfish interests?

Who really speaks for the Delta region? Who are the true representatives? There is so much noise and so many false "representatives" In fact, who really truely speaks for any region in Nigeria?

If the NDA are as vengeful as their threats, they could extend their destructive tendencies beyond their home turf.

That will be a very bad strategic mistake and the end of the "rebellion". I doubt if they would be so foolish if indeed their goal is emancipation. They should have learnt something from past mistakes especially the Civil war.

In the First Republic, the then Legislature, that is the Senate and the House of Representatives, failed to play its role as the custodian of democracy and defender of the Constitution as well as being the vehicle for socio-economic development by acquiescing to the military's takeover of power albeit anchored on the prevailing Ethno-National contradictions brought to the fore by that military action. Likewise, its re-establishment as the National Assembly in 1979 eventually exhibited this inability to resist the attempt at truncating the will of the people as witnessed in 1983 and remained in limbo, with the exception of its feeble resistance in the aftermath of the "June 12" crisis, until resuscitated again in 1999.
This background provides the backdrop for the Legislature now being the vehicle for the entrenchment of Nigeria's socio-economic underdevelopment and resistance to Change, being an avenue for its members to showcase their lack of purpose, reveling in jostling for what they always refer to as juicy positions without having the faintest idea on how to produce the juice itself.
It has so far ensconced itself within the anti-Change paradigm via a combined conspiracy of sorts anchored on hampering of the Change Administration's efforts not only in governance but also in its socio-economic thrust as now being witnessed through legislative blackmail on the budget and contrived scarcity of fuel combined with the shenanigans of the Judiciary with legal professionals cavorting with attempts at ensuring denial of justice through all forms of legal shenanigans and a lackadaisical approach to peoples' security manifested in the various conflicts exemplified by the age-long herdsmen terrorism, long left to fester over time by the State Apparatus, including the Legislature, which all pointed to attempts at stampeding the people into a frenzied expectation of an immediate solution to a long-standing problematic through some form of precipitate action against the Change Agenda.
All routes towards any form of Change as well as sustenance of any status quo depend on their legitimacy. The Change Administration and the Legislature are both legitimized by their electoral mandates, hence the full expression of legitimacy by each side would either ensure compatibility of expectations or automatic opposition of one against the other; in this instance, it is the Legislature against the Change Administration through its attempts to truncate Change efforts under the assumption that the expectations of Change would fizzle out and Nigeria would revert to the status quo ante with Nigeria's continued over-reliance on rent collection as the basis for her economic fortunes and misfortunes and upon which the entire political edifice of the country rests, with the Legislature being the prime beneficiary, yet without living up to its responsibilities as the front line of the Change Agenda.
When President Buhari wondered why the First Republic was able to create working infrastructure for the country but not so in the over sixteen years of civilian rule, with all the financial resources at its disposal, it should be pointed out that the First Republic was, to a large extent and as the circumstances of the period permitted, characterized by its dependence on, and recognition of the Peoples it represented; its Legislative functions being derived from and reflecting the economic, social, cultural and political expectations of the Peoples; neither distancing nor leeching from the peoples thus being actually responsible to its constituents which formed the basis for its legitimacy in spite of its failure to re-establish it based on these imperatives when confronted with its negation by the military.
The issue to be resolved with today's Legislature has nothing to do with efficiency or making it more productive through any sort of means but with its negation, its re-establishment, more so when it has fallen short of the expectations of its own legitimacy by making itself a vehicle for a political paradigm incongruent with economic or social development where its anti-development nature is a consequence of the failure of the socio-political environment that gave rise to it in the first instance and must necessarily lead to its negation; this not being a function of a more robust activity on the part of some members but in ensuring the reflection of the will of the people as the Legislature's raison d'etre, the ultimate in legitimacy.
The will of the People is anchored on their extant peculiarities manifested in, for example, the age-long Niger Delta disaster and its leaders' acquiescence or otherwise to this politically-induced economic malaise; the contradictions within the East on the Biafran question; the continuous attempt by hunters in the NE to be involved in anti-Boko Haram efforts, the various Ethno-National resistance to herdsmen terrorism, all of which are intertwined with the necessity for Change and none of which had ever been made an issue of Legislative debate in spite of the recent introduction of a "Grazing Bill" as if the entire problematic of herdsmen terrorism is simply about grazing opportunities.
Not only is herdsmen terrorism not a recent phenomenon to which the Nigerian State apparatus, with the Legislature as a prominent player, had over time, turned a blind eye, it is also not only applicable to Nigeria as it spreads across the West and Central African Regions thus setting it at par with the Region's experience with political terrorism as exemplified by Boko Haram as well as the Islamic State in West Africa. These terrorists operate as herdsmen, roaming all over West and Central Africa such that the current attempt at a "Grazing Bill" will not only formalize their land-grabbing intentions but also affect the structure of the Nigerian State in the long run, an act tantamount to treason on the part of the Legislature.
Based on the legislature's failure to recognize these phenomena, thus obviating its legitimacy, the Change Administration must now take the lead by utilizing its own legitimacy to re-create the Legislature without being encumbered by the Constitution.
Since 1999 and up till this moment, the Legislature had been on a merry-go-round of amending the Constitution, which shows not only the defectiveness of the Constitution but also a consistent inability by the Legislature to arrive at a plausible Constitutional paradigm for Nigeria and this on-going effort, while not expected to materialize until 2018, is an expression of the Legislature's self de-legitimization with this 2018 time-table being very close to new elections definitely affecting the amendment exercise, thus showing that the National Assembly is completely disconnected with the Peoples of Nigeria and in dissonance with the Change Agenda thereby making this attempt another self-repudiation of its legitimacy.
How then should this needed Change be effected? It is a well-known fact that the 1999 Constitution was based on a false premise, to wit: "We, the People". In legal terms, this premise does not, by itself, grant any powers and rights not specified in the Constitution; just as it cannot itself, being a statement of the principles in this Constitution, be based on a false premise, a situation which has now given room for its operators to act the way they had always been acting.
That such a premise as "We The People" is false implies that the entire principles, powers and rights it purports to embody are also false since "We, The People" had no hand in its making, directly or indirectly, being a product of military fiat which was not acting and did not act on behalf of "We, The People", even as by so doing, its producers unwittingly affirmed the Peoples' sovereignty. This false preamble only means, on the one hand, not binding on "We, The People" on whose behalf such an assumption was made, and on the other, "We, The People" need to exercise our right to correct this anomaly by ensuring that the Constitution is indeed a product of "We, The People", the only guarantee of its legitimacy and anchor for the Change Administration.
With the Legislature having frittered away its legitimacy by its own free will, Egbe Omo Oduduwa proposes that the Change Administration should utilize its own electoral legitimacy by substituting its proposed Town Halls with Regional or Ethno-National Conventions, with or without central funding, as deliberative platforms on Nigeria's Political Economy whose outcomes would be ratified in Regional/Ethno-National Referendums; culminating in a Constitutional Convention with the express purpose of re-creating the Legislature as well as formally setting the foundation for socio-economic development of the Nigerian Peoples while also addressing errors of omission or commission of the past. The existing Legislature will have no choice but to go along with this Peoples-based process or try to negate it; either way, the question of legitimacy would have been tabled and its resolution will be anchored on the expectations of the Peoples of Nigeria in tandem with all of their cultural, economic, social and political paradigms in whatever manner they manifest.

After reviewing Mr. President's answers to some of the questions during his maiden media briefing, I have no cause to doubt that he means well for Nigeria. Therefore, to the extent that his displayed sterner resolve is not selectively applied along partisan or political party lines, I am optimistic that, come 2019, our image of a corruption laden society in the eyes of the global community will experience a radical reversal. I will address this point in more detail later.

Unquestionably, President Buhari is certainly a tough guy. What is uncertain is to what extent his lieutenants are ready to align with his zero-tolerance pronouncements on corrupt practices. Undeniably, the best leaders create a well-defined and structured delegation of authority and responsibility as the President alone cannot be everywhere at the same time enforcing compliance. Under a complex and vast federal system like ours where the central government wields so much power, the possibility of adverse disconnect between Abuja and the governed is very real. Thus, in the absence of a well-defined decentralized structure, the need to ensure federal presence in local communities cannot be over-emphasized. Therefore, delegated power must be backed by a sustainable institutional frameworks and a regulatory regime that is purposeful, robust and audacious. Nigeria has them in abundance - EFCC, PPPRA, ICPC, NCC, DPR, National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the entire law enforcement agencies.

Now that the President has spoken, the die is cast. These law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies cannot turn around to blame their inability to perform their mandates on the "instruction or body language" of the President. Presently, it is on record: the man from above has spoken and we know where he stands, not just on the war against corruption and corrupt practices, but on the mechanics of sanctions. In the words of the President: Do you want people who stole N50B to be granted bail to go to London when we have 2 Million IDPS in camps? Absolutely not. Nor should they be granted bail until they return what they have stolen from the country's coffers.

The rule of law abhors inequality and abuse of power in every respect - it is a check on the government, the governed, and the officials of government. I and millions of other Nigerians supports the President's position on corruption that is sidelining Nigeria's ability to become a great economic Trojan like that of China or South Korea. If we must overcome the menace of graft and abuse of office, then the EFCC and all the law enforcement agencies must take the President's mandate seriously and perform accordingly.

Debating and Debasing the Rule of Law

As naturally expected, the President has come under severe attacks and intense condemnation from lawyers, scholars, politicians and the public for his apparent support for the continued detention of Dasuki and the Biafra new voice, Nnamdi Kanu. So, to my learned colleagues who question the reasonableness of the President's hard view on the application of the principle of rule of law to the culpable Nigerians and indicted felons, query: "Where were you when Mr. Odili, the former Governor of River State, in collaboration with his highly paid lawyers, hijacked regular court proceedings and gave a nonsensical meaning - a meaning that has no foundation in law, equity, and reasonableness - to the application of perpetual injunction? Where were your indictments?"

Where were your indictments when the former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task force, Alhaji Abdul Raheed Maina absconded with billions of pension funds rather than confront his accusers with cold hard facts and a detail account of his stewardship? Where were you when Mrs. Stella Odua, abusing procedural rules, escaped legislative inquiry into her purchase and ownership of two highly priced automobile?

Today, there are tons of cases filed by EFCC against prominent Nigerian politicians like former Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Adamu, Saminu Turaki, and Gbenga Daniel, bogus Petroleum Marketers, just to name a few, that died unnatural death in our courts through abuse of process via discretionary reliefs.

Injunction, whether interim or perpetual is not a substitute for valid defense, especially with reference to the substantive suit. In a similar vein, securing it is not a verdict on the merit. Sad to say, that has been the culture in our courts over the years.

When judges and lawyers were perfecting the craft of killing justice at procedural stages via questionable adjournments and injunctions, our lawyers and concerned citizens could only talk about problems in the judiciary, without specifically identifying the problems or stating how they manifest. The only solution as always was financially independent of the judiciary system. While financial independent of the judiciary is important, the lack of it does not exonerate judges' role as dependable arbiters.

As I write, most active members of the bar community are still very unwilling to accept the fact that injunctions and adjournments and all the procedural "mumbles jumbles" that they have come to embrace as smart legal maneuverings, do in fact, pose the greatest threat to real justice and the principle of rule of law in Nigeria. Most often, we watch helplessly as high profile cases die at the pretrial stage. This type of practice is crippling the entire Nigerian legal system.

Analysis

Rule of law, in its true sense, does not discriminate between the government, private citizens and institutions in its application. It is equally applied across the board in similar fashion. In other words, private citizens are subject to the law and are accountable under the law, just like the government.

According to the World Justice Project, "rule of law is a system in which the following four universal principles are upheld: The government and its officials and agents as well as individuals and private entities are accountable under the law." This definition mirrored the United Nations standard, to wit, "all persons, institutions and entities, public and private, including the State itself, are accountable to just, fair and equitable laws and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law." Unfortunately, in Nigeria, these are not the true test of the rule of law.

As a private individual, you are accountable to the law just as you are entitled to protection under the law. You cannot knowingly, purposefully, and deliberately abuse your office in wanton disregard of the rule and regulation setting up your office, and turn around to seek refuge under the law, when called upon to give account of your stewardship. When you buy justice, using part of the public funds that you stole, you are perverting the justice system and debasing the principle of the rule of law.

Granted, two wrongs do not make a right, now that we have a President, overtly poised to confront the Bull of corruption by the horns, we should support and join hands with him, instead of crying Argentina. The money bonanza, shameful as it was, that encapsulates the Dasuki's period at NSA is egregious and deserves total condemnation by every Nigerian. Therefore, his trial, tempestuous as it is evolving presently, is an aberration in every respect imaginable. It cannot and must not be the best yardstick to construing our observance or otherwise, with any local or universal rights to fair hearing.

Indeed, an accused is considered innocent until his is proven guilty. However, there is nothing in the instant case that falls within that acceptable maxim of an accused being innocent until proven guilty. Dasuki has admitted that he squander about $2 billion dollars in his possession. He did not deny any of the charges leveled against him. Instead, he incredulously questions our wisdom in holding him accountable for his misconduct, which makes the whole Dasuki's saga an aberration.

Rule of law is not just about trial, it is more about conduct - an orderly society where the government and private citizens are expected to play complementary roles.

For the first time in recent memory, we have seen a President espousing prosecutorial activism. Surprisingly, and of course, all of a sudden, we have remembered the sanctity of the principle of rule of law and the concept of the "accused being innocent until proven guilty." Once again, let it be on record that retired Col. Dasuki admitted stealing more than two billion US Dollars of public funds meant for armed procurement. In addition, he is not denying the fact that he liberally disbursed the money to politicians. Dasuki is amazed that he is being subjected to "undue scrutiny," when what he did, in his subjective reasoning, is consistent with our perverted culture of sharing at Aso Villa. And that is the culture that our lawyers and human rights activists are rationalizing and defending right now.

There is something fundamentally wrong with our often reported demands for probity, transparency and accountability in our political system, when the legal community is not outraged when a Security Adviser, in the position of a retired military officer in the caliber of Dasuki, suffers no scruples, while dispensing with impunity, public funds well over two billion US Dollars (funds meant for acquisition of weapons for the armed forces in its war against insurgency) to politicians.

Moving Forward.

In sum, if you and your cronies purposely, knowingly, and intentionally abuse your power and violate the law of the land, there is nothing wrong with the government ceaselessly and openly harassing you and your friends within the limits of the law, and yes, even by punitive measures, not only to securing forfeiture of the looted funds, but to serving as a deterrent to other Nigerians. It is that simple. This President, or any President of Nigeria, in the course of his or her war against bogus Petroleum Marketers, Pension Funds raiders, and all the Dasukis in our place of work, should never be saddled with the question of whether, as a society, we have advanced beyond certain benchmarks in observance of certain jurisprudential rights. Desperate times call for desperate measure. To move forward, I strongly hold that henceforth, criminal prosecutions in Nigeria should reflect a case by case basis approach. Without mincing words, I am encouraged, with the tone of the President - a tone that is consistent with the voice of one crying for an end to a corrupt judicial system.

Corruption is a way of life. Most Nigerians don't see anything wrong in being corrupt.

Some of us are seen as suegbe, suganmu for not joining the gravy train.

It is an art that almost everyone and anyone has mastered in Nigeria.

Nigerians are all corrupt, starting from a 2year old to the oldest person in that country.
Nobody gives a fart about the source of your wealth, all they want is for you to roger them.

If the current Pope were to visit Nigeria, they will even ask him to roger them. And if not careful, they will kidnap him and demand a ransom.

Corruption has no gender and is color neutral. It does not discriminate. It even prays to be successful. It looks to heaven to even buy it gabadaya.

The fall of crude oil prices has now exposed the behind of the freeloaders.
The economy is in shambles because of the greed of men. Very gluttonous lot.

Interfaith Professionals and CPWR Parliamentarians etc: Do your Job !

" Interfaith Professionals and Parliamentarians CPWR and otherwise: Do your Job ! Present the " Concept of the Universal Love-Ethic (Equality) " to the " 6th Parliament of the World's Religions ", which is to be held in Salt lake City USA from the 15th to the 19th October, as the "Principal Message in All Religious Texts" so that "Peace may Dwell" - right here on Earth, "Now !" (see http://www.parliamentofreligions.org/ ).

I had prepared the following* as a possible response to Atta-Ul's "Interfaith Professionals" blog and Pulse article, both entitled "The Concept of Universal Love-Ethic in the Holy Qur'an" - see the following links: http://www.linkedin.com/grp/post/200...71874916978691 and https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/conce...atta-ul-naseer respectively.

There, the claim on behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is made that "This (Universal Love) is the concept of Islam". Atta-Ul wanted to know what other religions thought of this concept ("What do other religions preach...? ).

Many were the comments made at the first link, but suddenly ceased after my input, it seemed, at the same time as someone "reported me". My input was "blocked" for a number of days. But I am no scammer, and I am not selling anything. I am a real person. I am "present" right here, "with you", in this moment, "now":

Atta-Ul made the following claims for Islam: "That the Holy Quran alone is the law that brought Universal justice, benevolence and compassion", that "the word Islam itself means love", and that "Islam is indeed a wonderful word which conveys truthfulness, sincerity and love".

We may read in the above-mentioned blogs that "Islam invites the world to a common platform of unity, love, brotherhood and peace" and that "Islam stands for the true honour of Jesus". "Believers", we are told "feed the orphan, the poor, and the prisoner".

Now these are certainly lofty and important statements which should be welcomed by all peace-loving peoples.

The only problem I see with these concepts is in their application. Obviously, the world is in a mess right now. What should we do ? How can we in good conscience not be appalled by what we daily read and watch unfolding before us ? For instance "Escape from ISIS" was seen by me on TV last night: The story of the secret network rescuing women and children held captive by ISIS: http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/stori...05/4323133.htm .

This show details criminal rape, sexual slavery, forced conversion, and a stoning which beggars belief. I wonder if "superego" here at NVS would like to comment on this conversation ? Would he like his daughters and grand-daughters subjected to this crime ? Of course not ! Would he like it for himself ? NO ! That callous treatment beggars belief.

We Interfaith Professionals and others (church and mosque leaders, no less) must do our "job" - along with people of Good Faith. We must share this "Good News", AND see that we DO the right and decent thing - that is, to love, honour and treat all people here on Earth as "Equals" !

We have to quit the humbug ! So now to get to my next prepared text/comment which was "blocked" by vested interests within the "religious" world:

* " Interfaith Professionals and kindly people, atheistic or otherwise, might find it hard to believe that whippings and stonings, amputations and beheadings are still regular occurrences in this modern age, but Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have verified that these excessive punishments at "Chop Chop" Square (http://www.newsweek.com/2014/10/24/w...ia-277385.html ) are quite frequent in Riyahd. Riyadh is not all that far from Mecca, the place of Hajj (pilgrimage), where pilgrims throw stones at the "Devil" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoning_of_the_Devil ).

Which should be difficult for humble people to do, since "they" of all people, should recognize themselves in all others ! Would they be the first to stone, or to whip another person ? Given free choice, most of us would not.

I first heard about such things about 20 years ago, before the wonder of the internet, from a friend who had worked in Saudi Arabia as a "Guest" worker, some years before. Now we all know that the French used the guillotine to overthrow "royalty" and then to unleash a reign of terror against "enemies of the republican state" until 1977, when that practice was discontinued (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capita...ment_in_France ).

This all occurred while Christianity "ruled". Atheistic republicanism, or socialism, or communism has fared no better. But at least the guillotine's outcome was "foolproof". Almost "guaranteed" after one lever was pulled.

EVERY ethnic, religious, or institutional group has its horror stories. And what are we to think of the horror stories coming out of ISIS controlled regions currently ?

No one side can claim "purity". All systems are flawed - religious or irreligious, capitalistic or socialistic, black or white etc etc. But surely things cannot get much worse than this ?!!!!

Readers here at Nigerian Village Square will know that I have debated the "rightness" or otherwise of "Sharia" when it comes to the Constitution of Nigeria. Now this is far from "my patch" here in Australia, but I have found that if one is not locally enmeshed in the power struggles of officialdom, "religious" or otherwise, it is safer to do so from half a world away from the action. With distance comes perspective. I trust that Interfaith Professionals readers and others will agree with me, and will find the following of interest:

I had responded to "superego" who regularly contributed (pushing the "Islamic theory is superior" (?!) barrow) to the online forum of "Nigerian Village Square". When I entered the fray, he was fulminating at full throttle that "Sharia" law should be included in the Nigerian Constitution because he claimed that Sharia law was more "Ethical", at least in those areas dominated by Muslims which lie to the north of the country.

"Ethical" means what is honourable, equal, even-handed, balanced, and right. And we might think that it should also mean that "Ethical is action which is kindy applied, to minimize harm, so that the community is enhanced/benefited".

This discussion came I think before the debacle of Boko Haram's activities and its' capture of young Christian schoolgirls, their forced "conversion", and "marriage" to its' members. Here are just some of the more interesting highlights:

With regard to "Sharia Law", readers might note the dearth of comments, except for those of "superego" re "Sharia" and its' unjust and cruel application of whipping, stoning, amputations etc in many Muslim countries.

Superego eventually had to agree with me, presumably because he also agreed that he wouldn't like that for himself (see http://nigeriavillagesquare.com/foru...stitution.html Page 1, http://nigeriavillagesquare.com/foru...itution-3.html see Posts 93 and 94, Page 3, and http://nigeriavillagesquare.com/foru...itution-5.html see my posts 165, 166, 168, 171 - and superego's responses at 167, 169 and then 173, where he finally says "I agree with this"... We should note that the discussion wound up soon thereafter at post 182 Jul 20, 2009 - still on page 5).

In the meantime superego has removed his "Avatar", which had already been changed from a picture of (presumably) himself as a young man, to that of a young boy - hence my later references to him as "My Dear lil Superego". ....

" So long as people suffer abuses, they cannot achieve their full potential, as free and equal members of society. The triumph of humanity over injustice, inequality, and inhumanity, all begins with an idea: a sense of justice and the relentless pursuit of compassion and kindness to preserve human dignity. We are to enjoin what is good. And to struggle against our own vices.

" Violence against women and children (and/or minorities) should find no roots in religion. In the matter of modesty, both men and women are free to decide for themselves their individual comfort levels and the choice of their dressing. A justly balanced community bears witness to this sublime truth, and does not abuse it.

Most of the above text in the two paragraphs above come from "Muslims Australia" (I have changed but a word or two) - see http://nigeriavillagesquare.com/foru...spectives-1076 ).

Like the earlier Islamic quotes shown here, these recent two paragraphs shown as quotes above show the "nice" face of Islam, which is far from its ugly face. Thus I say again, "If Islam or any other grouping/movement wants to be known as a Religion or Movement of Peace, it must throw the brigands out !" (see http://nigeriavillagesquare.com/foru...on-peace-2337/ etc). Of course, the same must also be said of irreligious "Christian" and other groups of irreligious criminals who unkindly act - to benefit themselves at the expense of others.

With regard to the paedophiles and other abusers in "religious" and other institutional circles, here is what Ian Smith, a Melbourne based professional consultant and mediator has to say about awkward topics we like to defer, because we don't know what to do, due to our own smugness, or embarrassed silence and complicity:

" Achieving deep and lasting change, requires hard and focussed work and will not happen by itself. And it is made a whole lot harder if the elephants in the room are left unintroduced and ignored, or if there is a pretence that they are not there at all. They will still be there, even if ignored. So, introduce the elephants. Work to understand them. Then, when enough - but not too much, attention has been paid to understanding the elephants, and learning from them - ask and require them to leave. Then the work of organisational rebuilding can fully progress."

The "elephants in the room" Ian talks about of course are those things like "abuse of power or trust" which we are loath to provoke, lest we ourselves are revealed in our own human nakedness to be less than perfect. You can read more about his qualifications and practice at http://www.iansmithconsulting.com/ .

War-"lords" are irreligious brigands, murderer's and thieves. They place themselves and their desires above the needs of the general population, and God. So do the vicious criminals who support their unholy, un-loving ways. This group of thugs are humankinds' own "Achilles heel". Lest we forget !

Believers in a Good God of love cannot allow these low-lives space to move, nor the oxygen to breath; unless we ourselves are willing to work to cart away the night-soil, we will drown in it, as well.

And so to conclude: That is why in this day and age, at the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius, "THE CONCEPT OF THE UNIVERSAL LOVE-ETHIC in the Holy Qur'an" - AND in ALL other religious and philosophical texts - must reign supreme, above all else. LOVE does no harm to its neighbour. "WORTHY" are those who preach love, and practice its kind application: GOOD Hope, GOOD Prayer, KIND thoughts, KIND words, and KIND deeds. Amen and Ameen !

The 6th Parliament of the World's Religions is almost on us (see http://www.parliamentofreligions.org/ . This is the best forum for "Believer's" to consider these issues. I trust that my trouble to be "co-opted" as an independent speaker as "a campaigner for equal rights within religion" at the 5th Parliament, and my work in the last 6 years will not have been wasted, since my race is almost run. Bon Appétit !

Double standard approach on corrupt practices

Public opinion on issues affecting us ought to be consistent, uninhibited, wide-open and robust. That majority of Nigerian politicians are corrupt is...

Public opinion on issues affecting us ought to be consistent, uninhibited, wide-open and robust. That majority of Nigerian politicians are corrupt is not a justification to indulge oneself in corrupt practices. Openness to all issues is the only way to lead effectively and build an all-inclusive government. I am saddened that present administration led by President Mohammad Buhari has not allowed the truth we know to make contact with the errors of previous administration. For me, that's a red flag and dangerous signal on what is to come. It is time to say no to these hide and seek games making the news. At the end of the day we neither hear nor see the end of the story. Sooner or later another circle will begin in 2019.
We have seen these movies before, marketers who collected subsidy money, at the end of the day the product was not imported, names were published, some people got arrested and at the end, the matter was swept under carpet. Today, the story is the same, mind boggling revelations of impunities and financial recklessness of previous administration has come to bare, when you hear $6 billion stolen by a minister, published names of banks chronic debtors, people returning stolen monies and all that. In the end, nothing will happen to those found wanting, worst case scenario, light sentences are given.
The worst thing that happened to Nigerian state in the last sixteen years was not the mismanagement of Nigerian economy by the PDP led administration. It was not the law enforcement agencies inability to arrest and prosecute corrupt politicians. It was not the influence of godfathers on who gets what and when in Nigeria. It was not the impunities going on in the federal government ministries, agencies and various departments. Although they all contributed but the bone of contention is the belief that new herdsman or god sent leader will eventually emerge and clean the mess. I am a Christian and I believe in God, I know that God, the almighty help those who help themselves. No need to wait for civil societies, labour unions or anyone to lead us before holding our government accountable. If we fail to hold PMB on his words, others will also come and play on our intelligence.
Since Nigeria got her independence in October 1960 till date, no new government has been able to correct the malfeasance of previous administration. It was not because no attempt was made, rather we condoned the rot hoping that one day it will cease to exist.Surprisingly,PMB doesn't know that the issue is not about him or his personality. A saint in Nigeria politics cannot survive unless he allowed best practices, accountability and rule of law to prevail in all circumstances even at one's own expense.Independece National Electoral Commission,INEC under professor Attahiru Jega ,NAFDAC under the leadership of professor Dora Akunyili are perfect examples.
Nigerians are very patient people and would be willing to corporate with any leader provided the leader is sincere, transparent, accountable and fair to everyone, these qualities are lacking in the life of present administration. All we hear every day from the president handlers, need to exercise patience, while we wait, there are no concrete plan or blue print so to say, to redeem all the electoral promises made by APC and PMB.For now ,only PMB knows how and APC as a party has plunged Nigerians into an unending waiting mode.
A lot of things have gone wrong in the last seventy days of PMB led administration, having documented the electoral promises made which includes but not limited to;
(1).Security of lives and properties, especially in the north east
(2).Provision of twenty thousand jobs in every state
(3).Payment of five thousand naira to twenty million poor Nigerians every month
(4).Provision of constant electric supply
(5).Run an open and transparent government
(6).Declaration of assets and liabilities publicly and others
We have been on the waiting mode, some people seems to be happy with the government at the centre. Others are shouting and no one is listening, people who know more than ordinary man on the street dismisses the critics with a wave of hand that to me doesn't add up. To be fair,I have seen improvement in the power generation and distribution. It is not unusual, because we have seen the trend before, it is not over until it is over.Conventionally, people who say yes to PMB style of governance don't have to explain why, onus is on those who say No. But If we see what is wrong in PMB led administration but prefer to look the other way because it is convenient, then Nigerians should begin to worry .
The question on the lips of every Nigerians is, why has the president Mohammad Buhari and his deputy refused to declare their assets and liabilities publicily? How will the president fight corruption or encourage Nigerian law enforcement agencies to apprehend those who are culpable when majority of his party member are as guilty as those been hunted.Today, we have a president who has refused to lead by example. The argument that he will declare his assets when he clocks 100 days in office leaves so much to be desired. Even if he does a lot of damage would have been done to the nation.PMB supporters should be wary of those in the government now, I see a lot of similarities on their modus operandi with previous administration.
Corrupt politicians who are ready for change are been intimidated; their past deeds are being invoked in order to bring them down. It is a welcome development if these probes serve the interest of Nigeria people since nobody is above the law. Nigerians belief that 90 percent of our problems will be solved by how PMB led administration responds to some of these issues begging for answer. If the allegations against some people had enough bullets as they want us to belief, some people would have been in various prisons and their political ambitions killed permanently.
With all the noise been made and EFCC prosecutions traceable to the body language of the presidency. I failed to see the prospects that things will be different in the life of these administrations. Former governor of Jigawa State, after his arraignment, prison experience and subsequent release, he told the world, it was all about 2019 elections, what an insight. I am talking about the national assembly leadership crises, now resolved. I am talking about EFCC invitation letter to the senate president wife, Doyin Saraki, I am talking about the appointment of INEC chairman after Jega's exit, and the presidency has not come out clean on the alleged 2.2 billion spent on the United States visit. It is good to know that the host country provided free accommodation, if it is not 2.2 billion then how much does it cost Nigerian tax payers money? Is it too much to give details of every penny spent on the said trip or must we wait for opposition party to help the presidency to calculate the amount spent by the presidency. Is this how to be transparent in public institutions? Is this the proposed change that Nigerians are waiting for?
There is nothing to suggest to me that PMB administration will be different to that of GEJ,so far, it is the more you look the less you see. The fight and struggles are not about the Nigerian people but about who gets what and when. When the former minister of petroleum resourses, Dozieani Alison Madueke was alleged to have spent 10 billion on private jets for one year,NNPC response to the allegation was not different from the explanations given by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu on the alleged 2.2 billion spent by the presidency on 270 delegates to the United States. Everything is still shrouded in secrecy.
Enough of these deceits and confusions been dissipated by the presidency, same people that counsel against acceptance of loans, grants, funds because of unfavorable conditions attached to it, now listed the proposed $2.1 billion fund from the world bank as the gains of United States visit. The people who benefits from corrupt system fight tooth and nail to justify inept governments in power, even when they know it will eventually fail to meet aspirations and desires of the people.
Nigerians have had too many false messiahs' presiding our affairs.
The irony of it all, many had lost their lives in the course of change campaigns in 2003,2007,2011 and 2015.The story is the same now, people are being killed by Boko Haram insurgency in the north east on daily basis. So sad, our graduates from colleges and universities now prefer prostitution, drug abuse and arm robbery because of limited opportunities. Nobody wants to die for change but would rather die fast by bullets, bombs than from hunger.
There is no policy genuinely designed to empower the poor in our midst, when such policies are made, it only exist on the pages of newspaper, don't forget: O'yes scheme and O' meal in Osun State and You Win program of the federal government. And I ask, do you know anyone who has benefitted from these poverty alleviation programs? Some of monies slated for such project sooner or later develop legs and finds its way to the foreign banks. That is why more money flow out of Nigerian system illegally than foreign direct investments and foreign aids combined. Imagine the amount spent on ammunitions used in fighting insurgency. Beyond the fight against Insurgency in the north east, the rate of crime, corrupt practices and other social vices are high. At same time some people have benefitted immensely from these national emergencies.
Only the truth will set PMB.
