Hello my lovely followers! Between school and skating I've barely had a minute to breathe this past month, let alone blog! It makes me sad when I come up with a cute outfit for school and don't have time to snap a few pics because I'm rushing out the door.

Luckily for me this week is my spring break! I plan on resting and taking lots of outfit pictures so I have a stocked supply. Also Misfits.

If you haven't seen the show Misfits YOU MUST. It's one of my absolute favorites and I had a marathon the other day, reigniting my obsession. All 3 seasons are on Hulu right now! GO WATCH.

Things are actually looking up for me right now. Skating is going really well, and I'm going into my third week of school so things are exciting right now! I feel like all my hard work is finally paying off. I'm planning on keeping this uphill swing for a LONG time. Since I haven't done an "inspiration" post in a while, I figured it was time. Black Patent

Well, so much for my 'one post a week' goal. As I start my last week of winter break I realize I've spent most of my 2 months off watching old Disney movies, Netflix, going to Disneyland, and hanging out with my best friend Nick. Blogging? What's that? I barely even decided on any New Years resolutions! It's already sixteen days into January and I'm just now doing my first blog post of 2012. So I'm just gonna go ahead and add "blog" to my nonexistent resolutions list.

However, the good news is I'm finally doing a post about my favorite shoes! I hardly ever wear them because they KILL my feet, but it was my brother's 21st birthday so I decided to suck it up and suffer for fashion.

Ok Ok I am officially making a promise to myself to do at least ONE blog post every week. I have about 2 months off for winter break and I am going to be productive! Thanks to Pinterest my life has zero social time......if anyone wants an invite let me know! I'm obsessed.

Does anyone have trouble taking their own pictures? I use the self-timer on mine but lately I've been noticing I'm out of focus.....I focus the lens where I want it and then jump in at the last minute for the picture! It ends up with the background being really clear and me blurry.....any tips? My friend recommended I use manual focus but I thought I'd ask my fellow bloggers :)

How was everyone's Christmas?? I love Christmastime...I've spent so much time at Disneyland this month! It's so beautifully decorated during the holidays.

Happy after turkey day! I hope all of my lovely followers had a great Thanksgiving. Did anyone go Black Friday shopping? I've NEVER gone and I actually went this year. But I waited until 8PM....so can I really call it Black Friday shopping?

I can't believe it's almost December already! Time has gone by so quickly. School is almost over for the semester! My last day is December 7th....thank god it's almost over because I've been trying to write my research paper for 2 days now and it just isn't happening. I thought I'd take a break and do a blog post :)

This All Saints dress is probably my favorite piece in my closet. I love the draping and the detail on it, and it's super comfortable! I wore this outfit to school one day......and did my best 'Birds Ate My Face' impersonation in the last picture.

Invisible Monsters

You know that moment when you put frequently worn pieces together and have the 'AHA!' moment where they look perfect together and yet you've never thought of wearing them that way?

I had that with this outfit. I always wear this shirt but I've never worn it with this skirt, and the cardigan is one of my favorite pieces in my closet! Lately I've been obsessed with wearing this belt knotted.

P.S. On a side note, if you catch the Palahniuk reference in the title then high five! If not, Invisible Monsters is one of my absolute FAVORITE books by my favorite author. I highly recommend it.

Silent Sea

The other day we had some surprisingly chilly weather in Cali! It was cold and rainy and dreary.....so perfect. I actually got to wear a coat! It's so frustrating that it isn't ever cold enough to wear a coat where I live. Especially since I love coats!

I got the amazing shredded tights at NastyGal! I adore that site. I recently submitted an application to be an affiliate! Anyways, I'm doing my best to get back into the blogging mode. I come up with these great outfits 2x a week for school but I never have time to take pictures before I have to leave! It's so frustrating! Maybe I'll work out the kinks next semester.

Speaking of which, I changed my major again! First I had decided I wanted to major in Anthropology because I eventually wanted a PhD in Egyptology. However I gave it a lot of thought long-term wise and I decided that even though I love Egyptology it's probably not the wisest degree choice. SO I've settled back on my Bio degree, because I want to be an orthopedic surgeon! So this means lots and lots of schooling. But I'm excited at the prospect of the future!

Part 3

So I just looked at how many times I've blogged in 2011.....and it said 4.....how sad. I'm really falling behind on this. But anyways, I'll continue with June :)

I graduated from high school! The ceremony itself was in Ojai, and after my family went up to Santa Barbara for the day since it was only about a half hour farther. It was such a gorgeous day!

Part 2 of my seven month hiatus!

So part 2 will consist of the first part of June. June was an INSANE month! I had my first competition in about 3 years, my first time back out since going through the surgery and all that. I turned 18, graduated from high school, and had my good friend from Michigan, Anne, as a houseguest for a week.

So, starting with the competition!

It was only a spin event, where you basically do 3 different spins, so the whole debacle lasted about a minute and a half. But still, being my first time out I was incredibly nervous. I did get some great pictures though! :)

After the competition, I decided I wanted to have a big birthday party to celebrate my 18th birthday. I actually turned 18 on June 18th :) So I spent the first 2 weeks of June planting about a thousand flowers in the backyard and getting everything ready for the 80+ people that showed up. It turned out to be an amazing party!

I'm back! Part 1 of my seven month hiatus

Well, I'm completely ashamed. I haven't blogged since FEBRUARY! What's worse is I've actually been meaning to do this blog post since February......oh gosh.

Anyways, I thought I would include some pictures of what I've been up to for the past few months! Unfortunately since I have about 60 plus pictures, this is going to be a 3-part post. So for part 1 I'll include pictures from February-May.

For the first two weeks of February my friend from Zurich came to visit me and stayed with me. We went to Disneyland, Los Angeles, Santa Monica Pier, and many, many malls. All that girl wanted to do was shop! I never thought I'd say I was sick of shopping, but let me tell you after those two weeks I didn't go near a mall for two months!

Well first up are pictures from my favorite place on earth, Disneyland :)

I got a haircut! Yes I took the plunge and chopped it off! I donated 15 inches to Locks of Love :)

La La La La Lita

I know I know I fell behind again, and the sad thing is I've been meaning to do THIS post for three weeks. But this has to be a quickie, I'm on my way to pick up my friend from Switzerland at the airport! I met her in 2007 at an international competition in Morges, Switzerland, and I had another competition in Grindelwald, Switerland, in 2008 and I had dinner at her house in Zurich. We kept in touch and she emailed me last September to ask if she could come and see me :) I'm super excited, it's her very first time to the United States and she's staying with me for two weeks :) I'm super pumped to spend three days at Disneyland. YES.

So anyways, I got an awesome pair of Litas for Christmas! They are ridiculously comfortable, which I was definitely not expecting based on their height. I decided to get the taupe ones, and hopefully soon I'll buy the black, grey suede, brown distressed, and that nude suede. Ugh I love these shoes too much.

New Beginnings

I'M ALLIIIVVEEEEEE!
I've been so busy with the holidays and school I haven't had any time to blog. I went to Vail for a week to see my surgeon and all my friends that I made when I went to have surgery last December (I had a congenital hip impingement that tore my labrum), and then my computer has been acting up, making it difficult to blog. I have to replace the hard drive for a SECOND time....grrrr.

So, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Can you believe it's 2011? Where did the time go? I have many resolutions for this year, and I thought I would share them :)

New Years Resolutions:

*Blog more (heehee)
*Get all of my triple jumps clean and consistent
*Train to get back into competing shape
*Be ready for Cup of Stockholm in March
*Make it to the 2012 National Championships
*Finally get my selling blog up and running
*Complete more photo projects
*Finish school early

So....of course the first resolution...BLOG MORE. It's so beyond difficult for me to do this. Way more than I had originally anticipated. I wear skating clothes 5/7 days a week, and the other two days I essentially wear pajamas. And with school always in my way and training for most of the day, the little free time I have is devoted to mindless TV watching or relaxing with a good book. I actually think I'm going to revamp my blog a bit and feature book reviews and baking. I'm a closet French pastry chef :)

The other resolutions are of course skating related. It's been quite an adventure for me, especially in the last 4 years. I've been injured for the majority of those long 4 years. Mysterious hip pain and multiple stress fractures put me off the ice for months at a time. The 2008 and 2009 competition season I competed twice. I must have been on the ice for maybe 4 out of 12 months. It was heartbreaking. I was unmotivated and depressed, and a personal problem concerning a close friend who did something so out of line and completely betrayed me put even more strain on my mental health.
It was not a good time. Then I finally found out what was causing my hip pain, and I had to go through a very complicated surgery to repair it. The surgery was about 3.5 hours long and my surgeon did about 4 different procedures.
Through weeks of pain and rehab I slowly made my way back. I had to relearn how to walk, and I relearned how to skate. I think I am most proud of myself for those first few months, for not giving up. It was probably THE hardest thing I have ever had to go through.
But it's made me a different person, and I will never again take my gift for granted. I feel as if I've been reborn, given a second chance.

I am a phoenix. I live by this quote:

So my other resolutions are actually goals that I know I can do, to prove to myself that I belong in this sport and I am a success story.

My mom dragged this dress out of our garage a few years ago and gave it to me- I actually forgot about it until I found it at the back of my closet a few days ago! Of course my brother had to insult me, his exact words were "Are you wearing a dress from the stone age?"

P.S. Remember a while back I mentioned my mom and I were making a blog to sell a ton of her vintage clothing? Well, we've been hard at work getting it ready, my BFF Taryn has been modeling for us, and we are almost ready to open! We have about 500 pieces, it's INSANE.

Dia De Los Muertos// Inspiration Compilation 3

I really need to start blogging more....sorry! I love all my followers though, for putting up with me :)

So I was planning on doing a post about my favorite picks of Paris fashion week, but it's taking me forever to get through all the shows on style, so I've decided to do another Inspiration Compilation, since I haven't done one in a while.

Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is the Latin American holiday celebrating deceased friends and family members. Scholars trace the origins of the modern holiday to indigenous observances dating back thousands of years and to an Aztec festival dedicated to a goddess called Mictecacihuatl. People go to cemeteries to be with the souls of the departed and build private altars containing the favorite foods and beverages as well as photos and memorabilia of the departed. The intent is to encourage visits by the souls, so that the souls will hear the prayers and the comments of the living directed to them. Depending on the country where it is celebrated, people also dance and wear skeleton masks or paint their faces, in memory of the deceased.

I've always been fascinated with this holiday and the history of it, and it's inspired me to do a 'dia-de-los-muertos' themed shoot. I have this journal filled with thousands of pages of pictures and poems and fabric, all inspiration for potential photoshoots with my bestie Taryn. I have yet to actually do one of my thousand shoots, because time is not my friend. But these pictures are definitely going in my journal! Enjoy!

The other day was my grandpa's birthday, and we all went out to dinner to a great little Italian restaurant in Mission Viejo.

Out With The Old, In With The New

So I finished school about a month ago, and I haven't done any new blog posts...shame.

I've been so tired lately, it's as if when all the stress from school was gone, the exhaustion finally set in.

My days have been consumed with skating, ballet, movies, baking, and sleeping.

Not to mention I've been feeling emotionally drained from big drama between me and a close friend.

It's always tough when that happens, and it's left me feeling uninspired and unmotivated concerning my blog.

These events have led me to the decision to cut out all of the negativity in my life- I don't deserve any of it and I shouldn't have to be around it. I've found an amazing friend in Taryn and I don't need to waste my energy on someone who leaves me feeling this way.

Long story short, I've been feeling like..."reinventing" myself. I have a lot of clothing in my closet that I rarely wear anymore, mainly because my style has radically changed in the past 3 years. Sometimes I feel like I'm suffering from a style identity crisis....

So I've pulled quite a few pieces from websites of clothes that I would die to have, and hopefully I'll be able to buy some of them when I finally get my selling blog together...(SOON!)

I'm bad when it comes to accessories, I hardly ever buy them and then I kick myself later for not having that perfect necklace or ring. I absolutely LOVE the giant watch timepiece necklace, I definitely want to buy that. Remember how I was talking about my style identity crisis? I think this exemplifies that....I hardly ever wear dresses, and yet occasionally I wish I had that perfect girly day dress. Sometimes I want to dress feminine and soft, when I normally gravitate to the grunge, edgy rock and roll look. It's my most comfortable style honestly.But maybe I SHOULD have different styles in my closet, to be versatile? I'm not sure, and Taryn laughs at me when I complain about my "identity". :)So, what do you think?

I don't know what to do when it comes to shorts. I rarely wear them because, to be honest, I feel rather self conscious. My legs are really scarred from skating so I feel like that's all anyone can see when I wear shorts. Another issue? A lot of times I feel most shorts are too short on me. So I guess I need to find a happy medium...which, I feel I have found in the blush shorts. They're long enough so I won't be constantly pulling them down, and my scars? I'm just going to deal with them I suppose.

I love Nasty Gal. Seriously, if I could I would definitely buy every single thing they sell. After going through my closet I've discovered that I pretty much only wear about 5 tops. I've found that I rarely ever buy tops. I usually gravitate towards shoes. So I've pulled quite a few that I would definitely want to buy, and I feel like my style is leaning towards these kinds of looks.

Now, what was I saying about shoes? This fall I really want to update my boot collection. I bought a pair of black leather boots and I wear them constantly. I love the tan boots, and I've wanted a pair for a while, but I'm not sure if I like the ones with the heel better than the ones without.Bummer but the gorgeous black heels with the spikes are sold out....hopefully they'll get more in!
All in all, I actually think this post has helped me figure out my "style".No matter what I wear, whether it be a pretty dress, a skirt, cargo pants, or just a tank, it always has that edge to it. The spiky heels, or the slashed top, I'm always going to put that grunge rock n' roll vibe into it. You can't fight who you are.

Dear Interceptor

I wore this amazing vintage jacket to my friend Anna's high school graduation- I was trying to find something to wear, and my mom walked into my room with this glorious jacket. Isn't it gorgeous? It has all these ornate buttons on it, which makes it quirky. Yes, it has shoulder pads, but I'd say they work. I wanted the focus to be on the jacket, so I toned down the rest of the ensemble, and pulled my hair back.

I felt great that day.

These shoes are surprisingly stable for their height. I had no problem walking in them- and they're 5 inches tall! I love the detail on the straps.

And as always, Taryn looked gorgeous. I swear anything that girl does is brilliant.

Seventeen Forever

Last Friday was my 17th birthday. I feel so old now......

Anyways, I spent it with my BFF Taryn, and we had dinner at my favorite Japanese restaurant with my family.

After, we had a spontaneous photoshoot behind the center.....If you're ever in Tustin, CA, DEFINITELY check out Tokyo Lobby.

I've been going there my whole life, it's amazing.

I finally got to wear my new Modcloth dress! It's actually really comfortable, not itchy at all.

My Mom let me borrow one of her pairs of amazing Jimmy Choo shoes.

So, the reason it's taken me so long to get this post up is because of these pictures.....I've been having a lot of trouble trying to resize them. I put them all on the same setting, and some of the pictures are way bigger than the others!

Annoying.

Oh well, any suggestions? I use photobucket, and I haven't had a problem until now.

I've fallen behind in my blogging.....whoops!

These past two weeks have been BUSY! All my time has been consumed by skating, therapy, ballet, and homework homework homework!

I'm quickly making progress in finishing school....I can't wait for my summer to start!

I love watching Skins. Effy is totally one of my favorite character.

I found this editorial on Kaya randomly one day...I LOVE it!

She looks completely gorgeous, and the clothes are to die for! I actually like ASOS clothing a lot...I'm going to have to buy some one day.

So, the last post I did I mentioned that I was going to a concert.....

IT WAS AMAZING!

I went with my bff Taryn and Shannon, and we saw the Too Fast for Love tour at the Grove of Anaheim.

Cobra Starship and 3OH!3 were the co-headliners.....we also saw Travie McCoy and I Fight Dragons.

I haven't seen Cobra Starship in about 3 years, so it was definitely awesome to see them again(:
