This is not a article about Ping Pong. But perhaps it is… a little. Ping Pong does represent a sort of back-n-forth strategy we all face in our daily lives. It does represent how we may ‘react’ to what life is throwing at us. We hit hard and then wait eagerly for the next ball to hit. And whether you are in the business of moving pixels (internet marketing) or moving widgets, money, ideas or services, you face the perpetual Ping-Pong of life.

Meet the “Waldner” – the next generation ping pong table.  This table design is made with an advanced computer system integration and has a multi-touch surface, which responds to human touch and real world objects, like ping-pong balls. The table is also equipped with Siri voice recognition that monitors the game along with a Mac Pro 12-core computer. That means the table is very intelligent; it sees, feels and hears the game. You can even be a “MacEnroe” and yell at the ref if you feel it’s absolutely necessary.

Laurent Perbos has designed a series of unique ping pong tables that make the game of table tennis even more exciting.

Tablets are sure are handy, but even with a stylus, there are times they’re no match for a good old-fashioned notebook. Notebook snobs have long been fans of Moleskine notebooks for this purpose, because they’re stylish and durable.

Having said that, Evernote has functionally become my second brain. I often write stuff on paper and then snap a picture with my phone and upload it to Evernote for safekeeping. It would appear that this practice has not gone unnoticed, as today sees the launch of the Evernote Smart Notebook by Moleskine. Essentially, it’s just a standard Moleskine notebook, but the pages have a subtle grid design on them that Evernote’s iOS app can use to fix the image skew inherent in photographing a notebook page that’s not perfectly flat. They also provide a bunch of colored icon stickers that you can put on notebook pages that the app reads in order to automatically categorize your uploaded notes.

All in all, a very clever way to bring old-fashioned writing and drawing into the wired world.

But that’s not the cool part. The cool part is when Tom stands in front a halographic screen wearing special gloves and glasses and making ‘gestures’ in the air as he aggressively flies through glowing screens of real time data, maps and lists to hunt down potential dirt bags. He pushes, pinches and swipes screens around like they were tangible objects as if it was a new olympic sporting event.

Well,  not only was that technology ‘real‘ at the time but now that technology is being commercially released.  Get ready for Leap.  For $70 you too can be as cool as Tom Cruise and control your computer by waving, pinching and pointing… instead of clicking, typing and scrolling.

According to CEO of Leap Motion, Michael Buckwald, “We really wanted to build a device that would actually be leaps and bounds better at doing a lot of things that most people want to do with their computers, and in order to do that, you need to be able to track fingers, and you need to be able to do that at a deep, centimeter level.”

Technology and Fashion have been at the crossroads for a very long time.  Before  Google Glass was the Wristwatch and even gadgets to help you cheat at poker or eavesdrop on the table next to you.  And remember the X-ray Glasses?  Anyway, technology and fashion go hand in hand and now a company called CuteCircuit wants to create the first programmable t-shirt called tshirtOS.  It’s been awhile in the making and you may have seen some of their prototypes if you made it to the last U2 Tour.

Now, they are making a platform for programmers to push the limits of interactive wear.  TshirtOS is 100% cotton. It has a microprocessor and wirelessly connnets to an iOS app.  It also has audio playback via a supported headphone jack.  And to top it off, support for a camera as well.  I sense that T-shirts just got a whole new level of expression.

Batman doesn’t have any ‘super’ powers.  He’s not a mutant or an alien from another planet.  He’s just a rich guy that wants to save the world… or at least piss off some bad bad criminals.
