The fourth BRICS summit getting together Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa was held on March 28-29 in New Delhi. No matter it didn’t last long one can say with confidence it has resulted in substantial achievements. The US national missile defense, especially its European component, is one of the major irritants in the Russia — US bilateral relations. The USA insists it is created to counter the threat coming from Iran and North Korea. Russia says geography, physics laws, and irrefutable facts clearly indicate the system is aimed at Russia not Iran. It makes its legitimate concern justified.

It’s hard to believe nowadays. According the US law the archives can be declassified after 50 years. The documents related to Northwood operation, that never took place, were made public after this period of time. Reading it either gets one shocked or makes smile unbelievingly. It was exactly 50 years ago the CIA together with the Joint Chiefs of Staff were planning an attack against their own country. On March 13 1962 then Defense Secretary Robert McNamara submitted the plan to President John Kennedy for approval.

It’s exactly a hundred years ago the West suffered a cognitive geopolitical defeat. Back then the European public opinion pinned hopes on the Russian revolution that strived to put an end to the authoritarian "barbarian" monarchy and bring liberal elite to power. But the widely praised elite happened to be just a thin cultural layer of the stormy sea alien to the West. The Russian society democratization led to the most radical anti-West regime in the world history coming to power instead of the Romanov dynasty (very loyal to European powers). It shook the whole Atlantic civilization to its foundation. Something very similar is taking place in the Middle East.

At the 48 Munich security conference China’s Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun said China’s involvement into global security grows along with its economic might. He emphasized there were no reasons for the situation to get worse. In response US senator John McCain decided to make the Chinese official know his place. The Senator said as he had said many times and would repeat it again «the Arab Spring is coming to China». The ex US presidential candidate told the Chinese diplomat there was no way to suppress it due to the up-to-date gadgets and showed his cell phone as an example. He said he hoped China would develop the way Mr. Zhang Zhijun told the conference because good will and peaceful relations were common goal. He added: «Knowing your neigbours in the region as I do there is great concern about some of your activities».

The US two wars fighting capability concept, that has been fundamental until recently, is revisioned. But it’s an interesting fact the number of US enemies keeps growing. The strategic adversaries like China and Russia aside, Syria and Iran are the countries military strikes are seriously planned against in the nearest future. It makes it two theaters of operations at least. If the US military is to wage only one war, than who is going to fight the other one?
