A couple days ago when we received some very cold weather ( I live in Canada), my truck had a hard time turning over, when it did, it ran for a bit then idled out when warming up. I restarted it again (after about 5 tries) and it seemed to be fine, minus some unusual shaking and clunking.

It got a little warmer the next day and ran fine (drove for about 80 kms) with no signs of issues.

However, yesterday I was driving down the road and it just slowly died out and wouldn’t rev above 3000, it was like I had run out of fuel. After about 15 minutes of trying to start it, It finally turned over, and it started up fine, but it wasn’t revving above 3000 and when I would get it to about 6 I would have to slowly ease it right down or the revs would drop and stall right out. If it tried to put it to the floor it would rev for a second and completely drop down and idle out. It idles around 500 but dips up and down and never really stabilizes.

I put 3 bottles of gasoline antifreeze and a full tank of premium grade fuel. I ran it down the highway and all the gears were shifting at the right time and everything seemed fine. I let it idle for about 3 hours and it was fine until the last hour and it died again, now it won’t even start and of course my battery is dead from trying. It seems to run fine then out of nowhere it won’t let the revs go above about 3 grand and wont change gears, and then eventually dies out.

My friend thought it was from water in the fuel that might have frozen because that night I had like less than ¼ tank of fuel when it dipped well below freezing. My other friend said he put a fuel regulator in his suburban of the same year.

1999 GMC SIERRA NEWBODY 4.8 V8 2 WD 215000km’s

I changed the oil and air filter about 6500 km ago.

The engine light turned on the first time it died out on me in the middle of the road, so I’m assuming it’s in regard to the issue.

I’m just looking to see what some of the issues might be so I can personally diagnose it and, so I don’t get taken for a ride by the mechanic in town or if in fact I could fix it myself; possibly a fuel filter?
The truck turns over, but it like its not getting enough fuel or the fuel isn’t igniting or something. The starter goes but it kinda chugs then just stops, sometimes it will chug like two or three times but wont fire up.

surely this would make sense as the hydrogen fuel cell creates only water vapor as its waste product and the production of hydrogen costs no more then production of petrol/gas via the refinement of crude oil. As such it would cost no more to fuel you car with hydrogen then it would to fuel it with petrol/gas.

Furthermore, the oil production companies would not be losing out if they changed from the refinement of crude oil to the production of hydrogen. the Fuel companies would not lose out either as hydrogen costs the same as petrol/gas.

It seems to me the hydrogen is the clean alternative with no harmful waste product that is going to add to humanities carbon footprint and the oil and fuel companies would still be raking in as much profit as ever.

Everyone wins so why is hydrogen not the mandatory standard fuel for all new vehicles that comes off the production line.
See the problem is in another 100 years their will be nothing left the world to really care about saving at all. and no i wont be here but it is very quite possible that my children will and I dont want them to have become refugees of the world – having to move around to scrape what resources is left out of the a dead planet because people here and now were to stingy and lazy to bother getting rid of their presious cars
and before you say anything – I dont own a car, i used to own a car but got rid of it (actually i give it away) now i walk the 15 miles to university every morning and then the 15 miles back every evening. I have a bike for going to the shops and a large bag that goes on my back big enough to bike home with weeks shopping and I only ever use mass transport when there is no other choice but to do so
