Time to Celebrate

On this day 2 years ago, we were busy building the Tustin location into the boutique we had envisioned. After much blood, sweat and tears of joy, we completed our renovation in a month and opened the doors on May 1st, 2010. It's hard to believe that 2 years has flown by and we've accomplish more than we expected. We've made many friends, had many parties and allowed many local artists to showcase their work of art. This year, as we celebrate our 2 year anniversary, we'll also be celebrating the launch of our online Etsy store. On the flip side, starting in May, we will strictly be an online store. Yes, you read it right... we will be closing our physical store and allowing local pick ups if needed.

I'm sure you have many questions and I must tell you that this was a hard decision but a necessary one. As you all know, time doesn't stop for anyone. And with my age creeping up on me, it's time for my husband and I to start our family (NO we're not expecting yet). But before we add on to our family, there are just some things we'd like to do before our lives are changed forever. So now is our time to do this and we're going to take full advantage of it.

Don't worry, we'll still have cute items and allow for local pick ups if you need something in a jiffy. We'll continue to take custom orders to give you what you want. To celebrate our new beginning, we're clearing out the shop by offering everyone a 25% discount on everything we have in stock (does not apply to custom orders). So come by and help us clear out some merchandise! Sale starts Tuesday 4/24 till 4/30.

Easy DIY Crate Paper Garland

If you're looking for a fun and inexpensive project to decorate a space for a special occasion, this is the project for you!

STEP 1

You will need:

-2 Rolls of Streamers

-Twine

-Stapler

-1 Regular Pair of Scissors
-Optional: 1 pair of Martha Stewart Fringe Scissors

STEP 2

To begin, cut streamers into strips about 4-5 inches long. Once the strips are cut, pair 1 strip of each color together.

STEP 3

Once the streamers have been paired, place one set of streamers around the twine and fold.

STEP 4

Take your stapler and staple the streamer over the twine so that it will stay in place. (The streamers will still be able to move across the twine, but it won't fall off the twine).

STEP 5

Repeat steps 3 & 4 until you have your desired length of garland. To make the garland more fun, alternate colors of streamers when attaching them to the twine.

STEP 6

Use the Martha Steward Fringe Scissors to fringe the bottoms of the streamers. Simply cut two times to fringe the bottom of each streamer. Using the fringe scissors will save a lot of time, however if you would prefer to save costs, regular scissors can get the job done just as well!

STEP 7

Continue fringing the bottom of each set of streamers until every bottom has been fringed.

Congratulations! You now have a fun and festive garland to decorate with for any occasion. You can use a variety of colors to create different ambiances and celebrate holidays and parties!

Birthday Party Bootcamp

Did everyone have a good Valentine's day? I had a mellow day and got to spend the evening with my parents while my husband was at work. But I'm glad that the rain held out for a day and didn't ruin anyone's outdoor Vday plans!

Next up on our agenda is the Birthday Party bootcamp we're co-hosting with Saige Nicole's Baby and Toddler Boutique and Lemonade - an Event Company. So Save the Date for March 4th! We'll be showing you how to create a great birthday party for kids and most importantly, we'll be showing you how to make it look like a pro put it all together! We'll have workshops every hour on different topics so don't miss out on the great tips our vendors will be sharing!

iheart Breaking hearts... it's a good thing... I promise!

We're so excited to get these breakable heart utensils in! It's disposable or reusable (because why would you want to throw away a heart?) and biodegradable. I got the opportunity to meet the founder, creator and owner of this ingenious invention and I love her! She told us her story about how she came about creating this product and how she's trying to get everyone to get back to the basics... get intimate with food again and slow down in life to enjoy the great things life has to offer. So break a heart, share a meal and get close to your food and loved ones!

Clearance Sale!

Woopsie! It's been a little while since we last blogged but it's for good reason! December and January have been super busy! With the opening party (which turned out fabulous) and gift shows, meeting new artists and planning weddings, January went by in a flash!

We're getting some new items in this week including birthday candles that say "Thirty-ish", "Lost Count", a variety of dessert recipe books and new wooden cards (see pictures). We also have a bunch of Valentine's items that is ready for pick up or can be custom ordered. In order to make space for the new items, we're clearing out a ton of items - 40% off the lowest price. These are last chance items that we won't be carrying anymore to hurry in before it's gone.

These wooden cards are flexible!!

Stay tuned for a post about the new items that are arriving! We're also co-hosting a Birthday Party Bootcamp in March (details to follow). And don't forget our preferred customer program: Spend $100 (one time or over a few purchases) to receive a $15 store credit for your future purchases!

Did someone say party?

Now that the holiday season is over, it's time to get back to normal business! We were stacked with events all throughout December that it was hard for us to keep track of it all. I know many of you haven't visited our new store yet so here's a perfect excuse to make your way here!

On Jan. 21st, we will be hosting our opening party along with about 7 other stores on this side of The OC Mart Mix. Come join us from 3-7pm for food, fun, shopping and drinks. There will be fun ideas and outfits for any Valentine's plans you have so don't miss out. Who doesn't love a good party??

Speaking of outfits, our neighbor KCee G Boutique is having a major blowout sale starting this Friday! Everything they have is 40% off!! They have a ton of cute stuff in there including hot pumps and boots!! Here are some photos of what they have {please excuse the poor phone pics but it's all I have right now}.

2012 is just around the corner! We are so excited to be implementing some new policies and products in the coming months!! So let's just get to the point...

Starting in January, we will be starting the preferred customer program. What is that? You ask...

We wanted to take this opportunity to say Happy Holidays to our clients, friends and Mart Mix neighbors! This past year has had many good changes and we're excited for an exciting 2012!! And a quick note about our hours this Saturday, we'll be opened from 10am-2pm.

Once Christmas is done {ahhhhh!!}, it's on to New Years Eve and all the fun parties! If you're looking to spice up your Christmas or NYE party, here are a couple simple solutions:

Our cupcake liners come in an entire rainbow of colors, patterns and textures including eco friendly material, foil and fancy Italian designs.

Or... you can make paper pinwheels! We made them in holiday paper but you can change it up to any theme you want! We recommend using the paper thin scrapbook paper for ease of folding AND a scoring board. If you rather not take on the task, just let us know, we'll customize them just for you!

So there you go! Happy Holidays! Enjoy your family and friends, be kind to one another and make new memories!

Holiday fun!

We are 10 days away from Christmas!! Being so busy at the shop, I haven't had any time to start my Christmas shopping! But that's ok. I might just do that tonight or this weekend at the Mart...

It's time to bust out your Ugly Holiday Sweaters for the event Nomadic is hosting tonight here at the Mart!

Oh and there will also be $1 Tacos to munch on as well.

If you can't make it tonight, be sure to join us this Saturday. There are several events going on so here we go. First, we are hosting a gift wrap event to raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation (OC Chapter). Bring your gifts for us to wrap and we'll donate 100% of the profits to the foundation!

And if you can't make it during the day, We Olive is hosting a fundraiser for Mercy House! There will be a performance by an amazing artist Ellis Hall (he plays with Stevie Wonder!!) You'll want to sign up HERE before you come.

OC Weekly Mixer at The Mart Mix

We're excited for the upcoming events this month here at the Mart Mix. We've already had some great events and we have a few more to go. This week's event is hosted by OC Weekly! Support Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and get some holiday shopping done!

The boutiques in the Mart have all graciously decided to stay open late for some great after hours shopping so we hope you can make it. Btw... it is a 21 and over event!

And... coming in January, a grand opening party for a few stores including us! Details to follow!

Dashing through... SOCO a Holiday Affair!

You know it's December when... there are 5 big events in 3 weeks at the Mart Mix! To kick off the fun in December, this Sat.12/3, the SOCO Collection will be hosting a big event with shopping deals, food, demos, photos and much more. Check out the full post HERE and come check out what all the shop owners have put together just for you!

We will be doing a little intro/demo at 11am with a few other shops. We'll also be giving away a surprise gift bag for those that spend $50 or more. It's a surprise bag of goodies that's valued from $15-$25. We have lots of stocking stuffers, gifts, and wrapping accessories (i.e. gift tags & other package adornments).

Oh did I mention the farmer's market and food trucks will be here too? See you all Saturday!!

Biggest shopping weekend of the year!!

It is time, yet again, for the biggest shopping weekend of the year. I've done a few black Friday shopping trips before but the lines, pushing and banging carts are just not my thing. I'm ok with skipping out on the sales. If you don't like fighting crowds either, then shop small!! Come support small businesses and avoid those crazy crowds! We'll be open from 10-7pm this Friday (and every weekday for the Holiday Season) PLUS we'll be giving out 5 Pantry Bucks for every $50 spent. There's something for everyone here at the OC Mart Mix!

If you have an AMEX card, you'll want to register your card and SHOP SMALL to receive $25 credit on your statement when you shop at any small business that accepts American Express!

New Items at The Pantry

Since our move, we've added a ton of new items. If you weren't aware, we recently changed our name to "The Pantry, a wedding a party boutique" so that we could help accessorize other types of special occasions. With the change, we've also discontinued some of our products including hair accessories and jewelry. However, there is a great bridal boutique next door that does carry those beautiful items so you'll still be able to dress up your wedding when you stop by our new location.

Last week was a whirlwind of a week! We moved out of our old location and into our new spot at The OC Mart Mix. After LOTS of packing and unpacking, we're ready to see you at the new shop. We're finally adding a lot more product for all your party needs so don't just think of us for weddings. Since we're generalizing our products and services, we'll now be called The Pantry! Some people already call us that so it was just natural. Starting next week, you'll start seeing our new logo but don't worry, we'll still be the same deep down inside. Happy to help anyone with wedding and party needs!

Are you ready to see the new items we have in the shop? They're absolutely the cutest!

If you need 36 inch balloons for your wedding day or for a shoot, we have them in store now! We have them in pretty much all colors but call us before you come in because they sell fast. We're currently out of white.

We also have these 11 inch polka dot balloons!

Our other items we just got in are from Tiffzippy. There are escort/place cards that can be customized as weel as table numbers.

Last week we had Tessa Kim and her fabulous team shoot her 2012 lookbook. We have a couple of sneak peek pictures but can't wait to see the pro pics.

The background looked divine with a couch from Found and paper flowers from Floral Sense.

The makeup was done by Flawless Faces and the dresses were by the lovely Miss Tashina.

The models were gorgeous! This collection is definitely beautiful. Tessa never disappoints!

August Windows: All About Cupcakes

What's the most creative thing you can do with a bunch of cupcake liners?

This month, Basic Cupcakes put together a window display to kick off their launch of cupcake supplies at The Wedding Pantry. The first time I saw the window display I was seriously in awe. Talk about creative! The wedding dress, the lamp shade, and the giant ball decor is all made from cupcake liners.

So come in and check it out for yourself! Believe me, the window displays itself is worth a trip to see. And inside, we have everything you need for your next cupcake party! Cupcake liners, cupcake toppers, cupcake trays, cupcake stands...cupcake...you name it!

Wedding Stylist

The other day I was watching SATC reruns on TV and it happened to be the episode where Charlotte was trying to pick out her wedding gown. She pulled out a stack of magazines and asked the girls help her pick a gown out when Samantha suggested getting a wedding stylist. Wouldn't it be nice to have one for your wedding? I'm in a wedding this fall and one of our biggest challenges was finding a bridesmaid gown that we all loved. And after many trips and trying on no less than 80 dresses, we finally found THE ONE! We decided to all wear the same dress but there are brides that have their bridesmaids wear different dresses. Mixing and matching can be pretty and it can also be a disaster!

Our very own Whitney recently got married! Her bridesmaids picked out their own dresses and it looked fabulous! {See Photo}
