Most couples like to be involved in every aspect of planning their wedding day, especially the bride to be. More than likely, she has dreamed of the perfect wedding day for quite some time. Depending upon the size of the wedding and expected budget, some couples just “approve” certain aspects of their wedding while others are more hands on. Two great examples of this were the weddings of my two sisters. My younger sister fell in love and just wanted to get married. The budget for her wedding was limited. She had a small, intimate wedding and did her own wedding reception decorations. The morning of her wedding she got up bright and early and took her bridesmaids and her wedding reception decorations down to her venue and everyone put them up. My older sister had planned for her wedding for quite awhile. Her and her fiance saved their money for a big and elaborate wedding. My sister did absolutely nothing but approve wedding reception decorations, food, flowers, etc. Now if you compare the two weddings they were as different as night and day, but both weddings were perfect for each of my sisters. Though my younger sister did a bit more legwork and hands on decorating then my older sister, both weddings were beautiful and memorable. If you are planning your wedding and want to put up your own wedding reception decorations, go right ahead. If you are planning a wedding and don’t want to do a thing but be a princess for the day, that is fine too. Just do whatever it may take to make your day special and focus on the true meaning of the wedding, committing your life to your soul mate.

Fall Wedding Invitations

Many newly engaged couples try and schedule their wedding during their favorite time of year. There are summer weddings, spring weddings, winter weddings, and fall weddings. Because of the cooler weather and the beautiful colors of autumn, fall weddings are increasing in popularity. A couple who intends to get married in the fall often incorporates the colors of autumn into many parts of their actual wedding as well. One of the most popular ways of doing this is with fall wedding invitations. Fall wedding invitations can include the brown and orange colors that are so prevalent this time of year. They might even include a leaves or tree motif also. I was lucky enough to get married in the heart of the fall season, mid October. We decided on fall wedding invitations in the beautiful colors of autumn. We also decorated our venue in the same colors too. The day was beautiful and the invitations and the decorations were commented on well after the actual wedding ceremony. I may be a bit prejudiced, but I do believe that the fall season is a beautiful time to tie the knot. If you are planning a wedding, seriously consider autumn. The colors are beautiful, the weather is mild, and you are almost guaranteed of having a memorable wedding ceremony. Take advantage of the season and incorporate as much as you can into the day. From invitations to decorations, to flowers, to everything in between. You will not be sorry that you did. Take it from a bride that experienced a fall wedding, it is truly a special time of the year.

Wedding Picture Frame

Have you ever been invited to a wedding and have no idea what to give as a gift? Most of us want our wedding gifts to be special and unique, and can often be difficult to decide on. A gift that can be unique in style yet also useful,would be a wedding picture frame. There are countless styles to choose from and they are found in a variety of different price points as well. No matter what bride and groom you buy this for, you are assured that they will not have any trouble finding a picture to display in the wedding picture frame. When I got married three years ago, I received a variety of different picture frames from several different guests. Each one was different and unique in their own special way, and I cherished each and every one of them. None of them were anywhere near similar, they were all different sizes, made of different materials, some where more formal, others were casual. That is what makes wedding picture frames a fabulous gift for any bride and groom. Granted because of the variety of different styles it may take you some time to find just the right one, but when you do you will feel confident in your decision. The gift sounds simple and many may think you are purchasing a cookie cutter type of wedding gift. It will be up to you as the gift giver to show them just how wrong they are. Attempt to find a picture frame that connects to the couples sense of style. If they hate crystal, of course you would not purchase a cut crystal frame. If they love sterling silver, shop for a sterling silver frame that is a bit unique in style. If you put in a bit of time and thought, your wedding gift will be one of the couples most cherished gifts.

Wedding Program Examples

Weddings come in all shapes and sizes. Some are small and simple, others are big and extravagant. Either way, they are one of the most memorable days in a couples life. The important thing is to make it special. This is your big day, do what you want in your own way no matter who may disagree. When my older sister got married, she was the first in our family to walk down the aisle. She did everything to please my parents. That included inviting over 400 people, having a traditional religious ceremony, even having a wedding program to instruct guests on the flow of the wedding. My mother made her choose from wedding program examples that she liked, not what my sister liked. Imagine having to concern yourself with wedding program examples? My sister wanted my parents to be happy. In reality, she would have preferred a small intimate wedding on the beach without the concern of wedding program examples. Thankfully her groom to be just went along with everything. Her wedding day arrived and it was big and extravagant, just what my parents had always dreamed of. On her fifth wedding anniversary, she did have her dream “wedding”, both her and her husband renewed their vows on the beach just as she had hoped for. If you are in the midst of planning your wedding, make your dreams come true not someone else’s. You should have no regrets on your wedding day, it should be just what you had hoped it would be. Wedding Photo Albums

No matter if you have been married one year or thirty years, your wedding day was most likely a memorable occasion. Every couple on their big day wants to preserve their memories, usually in the form of wedding photo albums. The bride and groom most often will hire a professional photographer to take an abundance of photos before, during, and after the wedding. Shortly after their wedding day they will return to the photographers studio to choose the pictures they want in their wedding photo albums. These albums are kept by the newly married couple, but they are often also presented to the parents of each of the couple as keepsakes as well. Though weddings have changed throughout the years, every bride and groom still wants wedding photo albums to remember their special day. Wedding photographers can be a bit pricey, so if it is not in your wedding budget to hire a professional don’t despair. Something that has also become quite popular is to have disposable cameras at your reception, and have your guests take the photos at your wedding. You can then develop them, choose which you like, and purchase your own photo albums. In fact that’s what I did when I was married twelve years ago. Sure they aren’t professional photos, but they are still memories of our big day as seen through the eyes of our beloved guests. We still treasure them till this very day. No matter what your circumstances, just be sure that you do have some memorable wedding photo albums. Whether taken by a professional or your guests, they will still become a cherished keepsake.

Wedding Toasting Flutes

One of the most stressful things about planning a wedding, is often remembering the small details. Remembering the small details are what often makes a wedding a bit more unique and different then other weddings. At the time you may think that your guests will not notice the little things, but often that is not the case. When I planned my own wedding five years ago, I was a bit obsessed about all the little things. Everyone thought that I had literally lost my mind. One of the details that I was so concerned about was the wedding toasting flutes. If you are unfamiliar with these, they are actually the fancy way of saying the champagne glasses the bride and groom drink from at the reception. I wanted my wedding toasting flutes to be extra special. After much shopping around, I chose two cut crystal champagne glasses with doves and the date of our wedding etched into each of them. They were beautiful and just what I had wanted. Everyone thought I spent much too much money and time into choosing just the right ones. Well surprisingly enough, on the day of my wedding I received countless comments on how beautiful and elegant they were. Till this day, I have relatives and friends who are about to get married ask where I bought those wedding toasting flutes. The moral of this story is if you do not think small details count on the day of your wedding, you are probably incorrect. Go with your feelings and your instincts. Remember this is your big day and do what you feel is right in your heart. I promise you won’t regret it.

Elegant Wedding Favor

Many brides want the wedding of their dreams. The wedding that they have had planned since they were twelve years old standing in front of their bedroom mirror pretending their white towel was a bridal veil. Often they equate this kind of wedding as being extremely expensive and out of their budget. Thankfully though, this does not have to be the case. They may not be able to have a million dollar wedding, but they can still have an elegant and memorable event even on a fixed budget. Their are various ways of doing this, but one of the most important ways is the wedding favor. It is extremely imperative that you choose an elegant wedding favor. A wedding favor is usually the last thing given to guests as they depart a wedding reception. If you do not present them with an elegant wedding favor, their recollection of the wedding as time passes will often not be as positive. These favors do not have to break the budget, they just have to be chosen carefully. I remember when my cousin got married a few years back. As her wedding favor she chose a very expensive, yet very gaudy vase for her guests. Every time someone brings up her wedding day, the first thing they remember is the vase that they didn’t like. Sadly she thought that they price of the wedding favor outweighed the elegance of it. If you are getting married soon, remember to choose something simple yet elegant. The price tag is not as important as what your guests think of it. If you choose the right wedding favor, your guests will be talking about your wedding in a positive light for a very long time to come.

Flower Girl Gift

One of the most special parts of planning a wedding is deciding who will be in your bridal party. Most couples choose a best man and a maid or matron of honor. Then they decide on bridesmaids and groomsmen. Some couples then add a flower girl. If you are unfamiliar with the term “flower girl” it is usually a young girl who walks down the aisle on the big day dropping flower petals. It is often a special relative of the couple who is not yet old enough to be considered a bridesmaid. The couple presents their bridal party with a thank you gift on the day of the wedding, but often the bridesmaid gift is not appropriate for the flower girl. Because of this, a flower girl gift must also be chosen. My little sister was the flower girl at my wedding nine years ago, she was just 7 years old at the time. Choosing the proper flower girl gift was a bit of a challenge. My little sister would have been just thrilled with a new barbie doll, but I knew I wanted it to be much more special then that. After some careful thought and consideration, I chose a necklace that had a single pearl dangling from it as her flower girl gift. As she got older she could add other pearls on it for other special occasions as well. I also gave her a new barbie, which at the time I could tell she liked much more then the necklace. As she got older, she did come to appreciate the necklace more and more. Now she is sixteen and her necklace is filling up rather quickly, and she wears it with pride. If you are in the predicament of choosing a flower girl gift, take into consideration the age of your flower girl. It is important to choose something memorable, but you want her to have a bit of fun too. Whatever you choose, your flower girl will always be a memorable part of your wedding day.

Bridesmaid Gifts

Many people say one of the most important days of their lives was the day they got married. Many also agree that it was one of the most stressful as well. What makes the preparation and the details so much easier especially for the bride, is the bridesmaids. Bridesmaids are usually a relative and or close friend of the bride. They help with all the little details and help keep the bride from being too stressed out on one of the most special days of her life. The bride presents her bridesmaids with a special gift at the wedding to thank them for their help and participation. Picking the right bridesmaid gift can be difficult for the bride, for the fact that she wants to make the gift as memorable as possible. When I was getting married three years ago, we had a small wedding. In fact I only had one bridesmaid, but when it came to choosing the right bridesmaid gift I wanted it to be unique and different. It seemed that it took almost as long to prepare for the wedding as it did to choose my bridesmaid’s gift. Because of my bridesmaids love for the outdoors, I chose a sterling silver necklace in the shape of a leaf, inscribed with the date of the wedding on the back. She absolutely loved it, and three years later I still see her wearing it. If you are trying to choose a bridesmaid gift for your bridesmaids, try and make it unique to their individual personalities. They will appreciate the time and effort you put in to make their gift special. Cookie cutter gifts will not seem as special. Preparing for a wedding is a wonderful time, but always remember those that were by your side for the big day.

Wedding Supply

While many couples pull out all the stops when planning their wedding, many decide not to. Whether it be a matter of available funds or a desire for something more subdued and quiet, it is a personal choice. Any couple would agree that the most important thing to remember is that you are committing to building a life with someone you love. Don’t feel bad or slighted if you don’t have a big elaborate wedding, remember the true reason you are getting married. There are many options available to still have a small memorable wedding, you just need to know where to look. My older brother met the love of his life when he was in his mid twenties and wanted to get married. He was well known for being the level headed and responsible one, and had a dream of buying a house. He couldn’t do both. Together they chose to buy a house and have a small, do it yourself wedding. My sister-in-law to be went online and placed a large but financially thrifty order at a wedding supply store. While my brother was responsible, she was crafty. The wedding supply store had everything she needed for what she considered her “dream” wedding. Once the order from the store was delivered, her and her bridal party (including me) worked night and day under her direction. Honestly, I was very surprised at what was available and what she purchased at the wedding supply store. The day arrived and my brother and sister-in-law were married. Though small (about 25 people), it was intimate and lovely. It was held in a private room at a local restaurant. We were proud to see all our decorations, wedding favors, and place settings. It reminded my of a spring garden. It was just as beautiful as any of the pricey elaborate weddings that I had been to before. They are still married, still in love eleven years later. They are also still living in the house they closed on two weeks after they were married. Remember to do what is right for you, not what everyone else may be doing. If family and friends are not supportive it should not matter. This is your day. Make it special.

Wedding Favor Box

Planning a wedding is a special and memorable time in a couple’s life. Excited at the thought of beginning their life together, they strive to make their wedding picture perfect. A problem that sometimes gets in the way is the stress of the planning process. Countless details and things to be done can weigh heavily on a couple. Many put too much pressure on themselves to make their wedding “unique.” It is important to understand that even the littlest things can make your wedding memorable in the minds of your guests. No need to stress about it or break the bank. Just a bit of creative thinking can make all the difference.

My baby sister was the typical stressed out bride when she was getting married four years ago. She spent a boat load of money attempting to make her wedding the talk of our family and friends. After the wedding was over, you know what people remembered most? My sister’s wedding favor box. The wedding favor box was a pretty handcrafted box that held all her wedding favors. A friend of ours who is a local artist had given it to her for her twenty first birthday which was five years prior to her wedding day. A comment about how lovely and different it is was made by numerous guests at the wedding. Even after the wedding, she was getting calls from girls who wanted to know where she got the wedding favor box. It didn’t cost my sister a thing. Other things that she spent hundreds of dollars on were not even mentioned. If you are getting married shortly and like this idea, don’t be afraid to make it yourself or have someone crafty help you with it. It doesn’t have to break the bank. It just has to be a bit creative and not something that you see at every cookie cutter wedding. Have fun with it! You will be quite surprised at the comments you’ll receive from your wedding guests. Wedding Place Cardholders

Many times I just sit back and think about my own wedding some eight years ago. I was so happy to have met the man of my dreams, but preparing for the wedding was just so stressful. I guess that is the truth for any young bride to be. They want the day to be so special they are obsessed with the minute details of the preparation. It is important though if you are getting married soon to know which minute details take precedent over others. An example of this is are wedding place cardholders. You may be thinking this is a silly thing to worry about and will not make any difference in your wedding. That may or may not be true. When I was getting married, we invited upwards of 400 people. My mother-in-law to be suggested purchasing wedding place cardholders. I thought she was crazy. We were already spending a great deal of money on this wedding, and I considered this just another bill. I did not follow her advice and I did not purchase the card holders. Well, it was a disaster. We were married on a windy autumn day. Our venue surrounded by trees changing colors and the photographer suggested a few photos before the wedding began outside. We took the photos while everyone was at the cocktail hour. After the photos were done, we attempted to get back into the venue. Upon opening the door, a monsoon of wind whipped the door out of my hand and into the reception hall. Many of the place cards were blown into different directions. The staff, myself, my new husband, and the bridal party struggled to get the place cards back in place. By the time we completed the task, the wedding was off schedule and I was stressed and tired. If I only listened to my mother-in-law about the wedding place cardholders! Moral of the story is if someone suggests something, consider it. Don’t brush it off as silly or trivial. Wedding place cardholders are readily available, relatively inexpensive, and would have saved me a lot of undue stress and energy. My mother in law till this very day still reminds me that I didn’t listen to her. Good luck!

Personalized Wedding Napkin

Finally meeting the individual that you want to marry and spend the rest of your life with is a wonderful time in any one’s life. Planning the wedding is also wonderful, but can be stressful and extremely costly as well. Most couples want their weddings to be near perfection, and they often think that means spending a boatload of money. This is not always the case. You can actually have a beautiful and special wedding without breaking the bank, if you are willing to think outside the box a bit. This can be accomplished in a variety of different ways. When I was married eight years ago, I was lucky to come from a large Italian family with a variety of different talents. They were also more then willing to help out. One thing that stands out in my mind was my eighty two year old grandmother. I had 120 guests and she made a personalized wedding napkin for each guest by embroidering the guest name on each of the napkins and the date of the wedding. I tried to have her do something else, but she insisted. Each personalized wedding napkin was absolutely beautiful. Countless friends and family members asked me where I got them from. Without my grandmother, I would have spent a lot of money on those napkins. They probably wouldn’t have been half as beautiful either. A personalized wedding napkin is just an example of how I saved money at my wedding. Don’t be afraid to do some things yourself. Don’t be afraid to ask those around you for help either. Most of them will probably be honored that you thought of them. So, whether it be a personalized wedding napkin or some other element, you don’t have to go into bankruptcy. Just remember to think outside the box and do not be too proud to ask for help.

Bridal Garter

When you are under the stress of planning your wedding, it is important to have time to relax and have some fun. One tried and true way of kicking back and relaxing before your big day is having a bachelorette party. This party is usually given by your bridesmaids and maid/matron of honor. It is comparable to a girls night out. Often the girls provide the bride to be with a few fun gifts as well. One of those gifts is often a bridal garter. If you have never seen a bridal garter it is a lacy and stretchy piece of material that a bride wears under her wedding gown. Years ago it was worn to hold up the brides stockings, but thanks to pantyhose that is no longer the case. During the wedding reception the groom will remove the bridal garter from his new bride and then throw it over his head to a bunch of waiting single men. It is said that whoever catches the bridal garter will be the next man getting married. When my cousin was married about thirteen years ago, I watched as a young handsome man caught the bridal garter. Shortly thereafter, I caught the bridal bouquet. (Catching the bouquet means the same as catching the bridal garter, but this is for single women rather then men). According to legend, we were the next two to find our soul mates and marry. Three years later I did get married. I married the young handsome guy who caught the bridal garter three years earlier. Though it is an old wives tale, most weddings always throw the bridal bouquet and bridal garter. It makes the wedding that much more fun and enjoyable. You’ll also never know who you might meet! Make Your Wedding Ceremony Special

Whether you were married just a year ago or will be celebrating your 30th wedding anniversary soon, you can probably remember almost every aspect of your wedding day. Many newly engaged couples realize this fact and strive to make their wedding day absolutely perfect. One of the most important parts of any wedding is the actual wedding ceremony. There are countless variations on the wedding ceremony. You can choose where the ceremony is, and what the wording may or may not include. You can also decide if you and your fiance want to write any part of it, or should it be the “standard” and “formal” variation. To compare how different two wedding ceremonies can be, take me and my sister. My sister was married first. She was married in a church in a wedding dress with a 50ft train. The priest performed an hour long ceremony before they were pronounced man and wife. On the flip side when I was married, I eloped to Jamaica in the West Indies. I was married barefoot on the beach wearing a blue bikini. My fiance was wearing shorts and sandals. Our entire ceremony was about ten minutes tops. Even though our wedding ceremonies were as different as could be, they were both extremely special and we will never forget them. When deciding on your wedding ceremony, remember to do what you want. Don’t be influenced by anyone but the person you are marrying. If you want a formal ceremony in a church, go for it. If you want to get married in the local donut shop where the two of you met, that is fine too. It is your wedding ceremony, do what makes the both of you happy.

Rehearsal Dinner Invitation

Planning a wedding is a time of joy and celebration. Though it can be stressful, it is important to focus on the big picture…the wedding day. Many couples want to make their wedding “different” and “unique” then the others they have attended. Often this results in increased stress for both of them. If you are planning a wedding and would like to make your wedding stand out, it can be done simply and without raising your stress level too much or breaking your budget. A great suggestion is to make your invited guests feel a little more important then they have attending other weddings. When I was getting married almost nine years ago, that is what I tried to accomplish. I wanted my guests to know just how much they meant to me and my fiance. One of the little things I did was when my rehearsal dinner was coming up, I sent out beautiful rehearsal dinner invitations. Each of my guests felt that much more special and almost nine years ago many of them still have that invitation. Sending each guest a rehearsal dinner invitation is just one of the many ways you can make your wedding memorable to you and your guests. Those invitations were simple, classy, and inexpensive. Yet they still made an impression on those who attended my rehearsal dinner. When thinking of special elements to add to your big day, simple is the way to go. Candid Shots – A Wedding Camera

Many couples plan their wedding to be a formal occasion. Everyone dressed in gowns and tuxedo’s with a five piece orchestra and a five course exclusive meal. Other couples prefer a more laid back ceremony and reception. Their guests should be in comfortable dress, a DJ playing the latest hits, and a comfort food buffet. There is no right or wrong, it depends on your taste and what you dreamt your wedding would end up looking like. Some couples even like to take elements from both the “classy” and “laid back” weddings and put them together. Something that has become extremely popular and can be found at all types of weddings is a wedding camera located at each table. If you have never attended a wedding that includes this, you are honestly missing out. When my little sister was married five years ago, she had the kind of wedding someone would say was formal. She still wanted a wedding camera at each table. Usually a disposable camera, this wedding camera allows the guests to take pictures of the wedding from their perspective. They leave the camera at the table when the wedding is over, and the new bride and groom get them developed. Often there are pictures on those cameras that they love, but would never have taken themselves. Having these cameras at each table can often make a wedding that seems formal and stuffy a bit more relaxing. It can also make a wedding that is less formal just that much more relaxed and fun. The cameras are not expensive and they give a special element to any kind of wedding. If you didn’t think of including them at your wedding, consider it. You won’t be disappointed.

When planning a wedding it is important not to let the stress overcome your joy. Because of the long list of details that must be taken care of during the planning stages, often couples become stressed and irritated. It is important to focus on the fact that you are beginning a new and wonderful future with someone that you love. One of the most stressful times usually involve the wedding pictures and wedding photo albums. How much to spend, who to include in the wedding photo albums, how many pictures and albums to purchase, and so on. Every couple wants their wedding pictures to be as perfect as possible. This is because of two factors. One being that they will have the wedding photo albums for hopefully a lifetime,and two being that wedding photos are not inexpensive. When I was getting married four years ago, purchasing the wedding photo albums were extremely stressful to both me and my soon to be husband. You want to make sure that everyone in the immediate family gets a photo album. This means mom, dad, grandma, sisters, brothers, etc. This also means a large expense as well. You also want to make sure that the photographer will take the kind of photos you want to put in the wedding photo albums. When we went back to the photographer after our wedding to view the photo’s he had taken, thankfully we were very pleased. Often a bride and groom will return back to the photographer’s office to be extremely disappointed. It is important to make sure you hire a photographer that can provide you with references as well as samples of previous work he or she has done. This can often alleviate some of the stress you may be feeling about how the wedding photo albums will turn out. Just remember that even if your photo’s end up being not what you had hoped, it is not the end of the world. Your upcoming wedding day will still be one of the most memorable days of your life.

Wedding Program Wording

Anyone who is in the midst of planning a wedding knows what a wonderful and stressful time this can be for everyone involved. Usually because of the endless details that must be taken care of, and the stress of having the “perfect” wedding day. Most couples are extremely fearful that something may go wrong and ruin their day. If you are planning a wedding it is important to realize that even if something does go wrong, it will still be one of the most memorable days of your life. I have first hand experience of this fact. When I was planning my wedding ten years ago, we were all stressed out. We had decided because of the size of the wedding we would have a wedding program to be distributed among the guests. This way everyone will be on the same page throughout the entire day. About a week before the big day I took a sample wedding program with the exact wedding program wording we decided on to the printer. We were promised that we would receive the program the day before the wedding. The day before our wedding we went to the printer and upon looking at the programs I almost passed out. The entire wedding program wording was incorrect. They had printed my fiance’s name as Matthew when it was and still is Michael, among a few other errors as well. It was too late to have them reprinted, so because of the crazy wedding program wording we were unable to use them. I was devastated. I truly believed this would ruin our big day, but it didn’t. It was still a wonderful and special day that I will never forget. If something in your wedding planning goes wrong like mine did, take a deep breath. If you are married, getting married, or have been a bridesmaid or groomsman in a wedding, you more then likely have taken part in a wedding rehearsal dinner. If the phrase “wedding rehearsal dinner” is foreign to you, allow me to explain. The night before or 48 hours before the wedding, everyone in the bridal party plus the parents of the bride and groom get together for a dinner. Before the dinner actually takes place, they usually practice how the wedding will run in their church or venue. That way everyone knows what to expect on the bride and grooms big day. The finish the day with eating dinner together. The actual wedding rehearsal dinner can occur at a restaurant or even in some one’s home. When I was married five years ago, I had a very large wedding party. Since the rehearsal dinner is usually paid by the bride and grooms parents, it would have broke the budget. So my mom being a fabulous Italian cook, had the wedding rehearsal dinner at our house. Though it was a lot of work for us (especially my mom), it saved everyone a good deal of money. It was also absolutely delicious! If you are planning a wedding and the day of your wedding rehearsal dinner is fast approaching, don’t think you have to go to the swanky restaurant in town. If someone in the family has a talent and passion for cooking, enlist their help. You may also want to consider having everyone bring a covered dish to the dinner for a casual evening. The most important thing is that you are celebrating the upcoming wedding day with people that mean the most to you.
