I’m going to record an episode of TWS before I go, so watch the feed/tune in on the radio at the normal time for a new episode.

If you are going to be at Balticon, by all means, say hello! I’ll be the one with the badge that says “ENCAF1″.

And if you come up to me and say, “I’ve got a weird story for you”, I’ll whip out my recordedr(time permitting) and we’ll talk. You’d probably actually have something to talk about at that point. You’ve heard the show, you know how far I wander. It can be a weird sighting, a Strange Encounter, an odd take on the world, a challenging perspective, most anything.

I’m looking to capture some audio for an episode coming up, and I’m even willing to bribe you for it: I’ll give you an official TWS sticker! There are only about 14 of these in existence, so you will be nearly unique.

However, like *all* vacations, the trouble isn’t while you are away, it’s when you get back..: PhysOrg – Email ‘vacations’ decrease stress, increase concentration, researchers say

File this under “You’re Doing It Wrong”..: The Switzerland Local – Swiss woman starved after ‘eating’ only light
Time for a movie remake! Instead of “Oh God, You Devil!”, it will be “Yo Dog, You Devilin’!”: The UK Daily Mail – Woman with GOD tattooed across her forehead arrested for stalking (and calls herself the Godologist of Godology online)

What You See Is What No One Gets Right (WYSIWNOGR): Freakonomics – Messing With Memory

Repeat after me: “machines do only what we tell them to”. Only when machines come up with things on their own *entirely* will we start to get worried for the creatives..: New Scientist – Robot string quintet composes and performs music
Is sorta sounds like a rejected plotline for an episode..: The Huffington Post/Reuters – Nude Motel: Fawlty Towers Motel Becomes Naked Resort To Bolster Bottom Line

INSANE!

Tomorrow night, tune in to CHSR-FM 97.9 in Fredericton or the online stream at chsrfm.ca to hear the show! We’ll give out the call-in number during the show, but if you want to phone in your Strange Encounter call 206-203-2292 and leave a message, or email weirdshow[at]gmail.com with your story.

As a result of this being on Friday night, I’m not likely to have time for a regular TWS episode for Saturday morning. Some of the material from the Strange Encounters special might make it on the podcast, but tune in live for the real experience.

You see, this isn’t just about doing a great show. Sure, that’s what I’m intending to do, but this is also about raising money for my adopted home, the campus/community radio station CHSR-FM. I’ve been a volunteer here for over a dozen years, and now work here every day. I believe in the power of radio, and the great role in the community that we play as a hub of communication. If you’ve enjoyed my show, give a good portion of the credit to the station that allowed me to create it, and donate to our station’s Fundrive. Thank you.

See you on Friday night! 8pm AST/GMT-4, 7pm EST
