Two years ago, my first post for TWHS was for therapeutic reasons. I was suddenly single, disappointed and choosing to utilize the passion I once used in relationships towards my first love; writing. Fast forward to today, July 1, 2008. After taking myself totally off the market for the past two years, I feel I'm ready to dip my big toe back in the dating pool. But how?

That is why Amy Holman Edelman is my creative shero. Back in 2001, the freelance writer/publicist became a sudden widow and single mother of two, who longed for married life again. After two years of unrewarding dates, she donned her freelance writing/marketing hat, kicked up her creative savvy and sent an e-mail message to 30 friends, promising a $3,000 vacation to the person who introduced her to her soul mate.

That little e-mail landed her a big feature in The New York Times, not to mention a guest appearance on The Today Show. Ironically, her soul mate did not evolve from the e-mail contest, nor did he arrive packaged the way she wished for. Alas, he did arrive...

Now I'm not offering you a $3,000 vacation, but I would love to hear your creative ideas on how I should get back out there (bars and speed-dating are so not creative, nor are they options!). And
Amy has graciously offered the commenter with the most creative idea a copy of her book Manless in Montclair: How a Happily Married Woman Became a Widow Looking for Love in the Wilds of Suburbia.

I told Amy although I loved her marketing concept, my prowess in creative marketing lies within the energy of my blog, not my private life!! But in the grand scheme of things, you have to be receptive and willing, don't you think?

I have been so busy spoiling you with gifts of the foot candy kind that the term,"the shoe blogger's closet has no shoes" was appropriately defining my summer collection...
