Sad: Today, it is starting to sink in. My parents are migrating to the US in less than 10 days. All my life, they have always been here, there, and everywhere for me and my brother. Their petition has been granted, soon they will be leaving. They have been going on trips outside of the country for about a week or so, but this time it's gonna be different. I am positive that I can cope with the situation but as of this very moment, I wish that time would stand still. I have been away from them since I got married 5 years ago. But that "away" word means a 5-10min drive away from where my husband and I stay. There are times when I'd get too bored at home, I go visit them. When I feel sad, I go to them. Gone are the Sunday lunch dates at home. Gone are the Saturday breakfasts. Both my parents are retirees. They have all the right to enjoy life now. For many years, they have been working hard for my brother and I, so I guess it's time for them to relax and be carefree. I just hope that they get the chance to come back home every year. That's enough for me.

Happy: Since both my parents are leaving, no one's gonna look after the house/home they have built in the early years of their marriage. My brother and sis-in-law already has a place of their own. My husband and I stay with my in-laws since both are abroad. This maybe the right time for us (the husby and I) to start on our own as well. My parents have entrusted the house to us. At first, I said no. But after some time, I finally gave in. I analyzed and have realized how much important it is to stay in the house where I grew up. A lot of our friends and relatives keep on saying to treat the situation as if we are newly-weds again. Starting all over, on our own now. All expenses, trials, challenges, happy times, will now be experienced by us both. This makes me smile. Who knows, a baby could be next. Happy thoughts. Happy thoughts...

If there is one site or blog on the internet wherein you'd like to stay on for hours and hours, what site/blog would it be? Will it be about fashion, cooking, entertainment? Or current events, perhaps? Ask me that question and I'd quickly reply http://www.marcandangel.com . Yes, I am glad to have stumbled upon this blog and I am hooked since. I really am. I am indulging myself and my blog to some of the blog posts they have. See for yourself, I'm pretty sure you'd get addicted too. On the 15th of January 2012, an entry which I adore is entitled "101 Simple Truths We Often Forget". Here are 20 of the statements, phrases, or lines that I love.

1. The acquisition of knowledge doesn’t mean you’re growing. Growing happens when what you know changes how you live.

I was browsing the Woman's Day website earlier and found an interesting article they featured - 8 Home Remedies the really work. Really? Being so interested to know what they were, I immediately clicked on the link that would guide me to the page. I am wondering if this really work wonders. I would agree with Gargle Salt Water for a Sore Throat because that's what everyone in the family does. The rest, I just don't know. I haven't tried them BUT I intend to, one of these days. As we all welcome the New Year, I contemplated on whether to create a list of resolutions or not. Honestly, most often than not, I only get to a good start and stop somewhere in between, leaving it there for the rest of the year. Arrgh, procrastination! One of the habits I have to erase from my system, definitely! I spent so much time online and landed on this site where I made a mental note to visit everyday going forward. So, instead of creating a list of resolutions for this year, I thought of starting 2012 as if I was given a second chance in life. True, right? Another year, another life to live - fully, happily, and responsibly. Let me share / repost what I found. 1. Let go of the past 2. Identify the lesson 3. Lose the negative attitude - Amen! 4. Accept accountability for the current situation - 5. Focus on the things you can change. 6. Figure out what you really want. 7. Eliminate the non-essential. 8. Be very specific. 9. Concentrate on DOING instead of NOT Doing. 10. Create a Daily Routine. 11. Maintain Self-control and work on it for real. 12. Forget about impressing people. These a not my resolutions but will be my guide to starting the year right.

So, 2011 is coming to an end. Are you excited for the coming new year? I can't wait! I can't wait for 2012 to start and 2011 to end. The last quarter of 2011 has not been so good to me. There are a lot of reasons why and I can't just divulge it all here in my blog. Personal reasons and not. I am just so thankful that it's coming to an end. I may sound mad, sad, bitter, whatever you call it, but yes - I wish that it comes to an end. It really hasn't been a bad, bad year for me. There are still a lot of things to be thankful for - my family, friends, my husband, good health, etc. I am thankful that they still keep me company, still keep me sane. There are lessons learned in 2011. Lessons that have made me stronger. Lessons that have defined who I am today. Though it has been a bittersweet year for me, I still thank 2011 with a smile. And yes, I am so ready for 2012.

Cutting Trip, Bad Trip

On my way to work 2 days ago, I rode the bus plying the Las Pinas - Lawton route at around 7pm. I was lucky to have chosen a bus where I could watch the news on board with not much passengers so I could recline my seat just a little bit. When the bus conductor collected my fare, he said that they wouldn't go as far as the Zapote-Coastal Rd. boundary as they don't want to experience the heavy traffic in the Baclaran area. Pissed at what he said, I told him the signboard says Lawton and that traffic is normal in the Baclaran area on a Wednesday. He said that it took them almost an hour on the way back and wouldn't want to go further. Pffft! All I had to do was to alight the bus with both hands full of stuff I had to bring at work. I didn't get the name of the bus but I surely took note of the plate number. Bus driver and conductor of bus TYV 553, @#%&!!@%#@!! Btw, I wasn't the only one inconvenienced. There were I think 6 of us. Hmph! (image credits)

Late post... The husband and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary last December 12, 2011. Since the date fell on a Monday (where I had to be at work), we decided to celebrate it the day before that, minus the romantic date, dinner, etc. Instead, we celebrated it by going to Divisoria with my brother and sis-in-law in the morning til afternoon. There I found my anniversary present for him - a Nikko pasta maker. No longer will we be buying pasta noodles in the grocery. Instead, we would be making our own fresh pasta noodles. Bonding through food and cooking. He's the better cook, though. Cheers for more years to come...

Gifts are starting to pile up under our Christmas tree. So lovely to look at if only all the presents are for me. Just kidding! Boxes of all shapes and sizes with colorful and dainty gift wrappers adorning it. I see my name on one of the gift tags and just like a kid, I am dying to take a peek. I hope it's a wii, But I also hope that it's the gift I'm wishing for - Nescafe Dolce Gusto machine. Oh my, 8 days til Christmas. Are you done with Christmas shopping? I am. Next on my list is to buy stuff we need for our menu come Christmas eve.

I have not told you about my personal HOT Chef. Introducing my husband, my personal Chef. Since September, he has been busy with cooking school. You all know how we love to be in the kitchen, him especially. One of his dreams is starting to come true. To be a Chef. Cooking jobs here, there, and everywhere. Every time he steps into the kitchen, he transforms my oh so simple meal into something special. My breakfasts are even more special. Very hotel-like. Haha! More stories, and hopefully pictures to come.

Rainy December

The weather condition this season is just c-r-a-z-y!!! Simply crazy. Rainy one minute, hot and humid after. Rainy in December? Can I just request for snow instead? Even at work, the temperature has gone nuts. As you walk to one of the areas in the building, you'd feel uncomfortable because of the heat. As you go to a different area, you'd wish you had your fur jacket with you. I'm lucky to be positioned in the area where the temperature is perfectly fine. Though there are times where it gets a bit cold, but still manageable. A good fried of mine's work area is where the temperature dropped to a freezing 10 degrees. One of her reps teased her to buy incontinence products online because she noticed how frequent my friend's visits are to the rest room. Haha! Her bladder became overactive since the temperature in her area changed.

As I look out my office window now, I see a cool and breezy Friday morning. I just hope it remains the same the whole day today. But just last night on my way to work, I heard someone say that it's gonna be a rainy Christmas in Manila. I hope not.

Simbang Gabi

Today marks the start of the Christmas season. Simbang Gabi or Evening Mass starts today, December 16 and ends on December 24. This mass usually starts at 4 in the morning and another at 5. The last day of the mass is called Misa de Gallo. This is one of the Filipino traditions that a lot of our Catholic brothers and sisters follow. I remember when I was younger, the family would religiously attend the 5am mass, have some hot chocolate and puto bumbong or bibingka after. I have to be honest though, I have not completed this 9-day novena mass even up to this day. As I grew older, the mass I'd attend to would just be on the 7th
day, December 22, which happens to be my birthday. Yipee!

Yay! I just saw a falling star while taking my 15 min coffee break at the courtyard of our office building. Could it be just pure coincidence that I get to see one every December 14th? I remember seeing one for the first time also on this very same day with my best friend. And that was about 5 or 6 yrs ago. How could I forget. Today happens to be my dad's birthday!

Did I make a wish? Of course I did! What did I wish for? That's gonna be a secret for now. When my wish gets granted then I could share it to you all. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Just a question, how many wishes could I make if I saw just one falling star? I wished for three, and I hope I'd be granted all three wishes. Well, I could let you into one - a barcode scanner. Yes, I wished for that one. It would perfectly go well with the money/cash drawer I will be buying for myself as a birthday and Christmas present. A cash register machine may be next, and then my dream convenience or hardware store.

Oh my! I didn't realize that it has been more than a month since I posted something here. Put all the blame on me as I was so busy with work. How I wish I could update this blog with what has been happening every now and then. How I also wish that I could catch up with all the pending opps. I need extra moolah this Christmas! I think I have let go of more or less 10 opps. That is a lot for me. Compared to my blogger friends, I don't get that much opps often. When I do so, I do it right away. That number means a lot to me. Looking back at my planner, I see that I have let go of such writing opportunities like weight loss pills, steel buildings, coffee, and a lot more. This time I'm never gonna let one pass me by. As I signed in to finish all pending stuff, they were gone. Booo! Time to put off that Mañana habit...
