Happy Wednesday, everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far!
As for me, I feel incredibly inspired this time of the year. The spring bloom makes me blossom from inside and makes me wish to mimic this spring revival. Spring palette and ensembles with a feminine touch are on my mind all the time. Today’s outfit is a good example of it. Flower print dress, earth color trench coat and apple green pumps represent perfectly how I feel right now.

On another note, despite the charm of this time, there is one thing that is always difficult for me. I'm talking about the transition to bare legs. It not only feels weird at first, but I literally feel cold and uncomfortable with bare legs most of the time until it’s really warm, or even hot, outside. The solution that works great for me is fishnets. It feels like I’m wearing almost nothing even though my legs are covered and I believe this kind of hosiery is not for a night out or carnival only. It can be easily incorporated in a daytime outfit and worn elegantly.

If you’ve never tried it before but are willing to, I suggest paying close attention to two things – color and mesh. Opt for fishnets in neutral shades (nude, brown, etc.), actually the closer to your skin color the better. Also choose small mesh hosiery (the mesh in this case refers to the size of the holes in the hosiery) with small or even tiny holes, that would make it appropriate during the daytime. Finally, pretty please, avoid anything open-toed! One more example of how I do it here.

In The Spotlight: Black & White

Black and white is a big trend this Spring/Summer. I’d even say it’s everywhere! All the hottest celebrities and bloggers try it again and again. Why not?! I can’t think of any other two tones that play better together than black and white, not to mention this palette never goes out of style so if you invest in these colors this season you can wear them all year round mixing and matching with the rest of your wardrobe. There is an endless amount of ideas to try, from keeping it simple with stripes, dots or solid separates to mixing textures, prints and patterns.

Not ready to go head-to-toe black and white? Add a pop of color to this combination – sweater, skirt, beanie, hat, bag, shoes, anything will work. Bold black and white accessories added to a colorful outfit is another, more subtle, way to wear this trend. The b&w combo is anything but boring!

Spring Revival

I’ve always loved the combination of pointed toe heels and boot cut jeans or flare pants. There is something flirty and feminine about it. Don’t you think?

So when these new beautiful shoes arrived, my very first thought was “Where are my black corduroy flares? They were meant for each other!”. Frankly, I was tempted to go total black but I fought with a New Yorker in me over something bright and won. I added to this outfit a green coat, another newbie in my closet, a yellow clutch and a floral scarf that would symbolize Spring revival, sun and blossoming.

For me blogging is about everlasting exploring the world around me and looking for something new and inspiring. As a part of this search, I start a new series of posts that I hope will be interesting, useful and, of course, inspirational. They’re not only extremely trendy this season and help to keep warm on cold days but also a great way to pull an outfit together, doesn't matter what you're dressed in. Sequins, Lurex, Stripes And Spikes

It's been very cold in New York lately. Actually, it is now, and even snowing. Therefore, it’s especially tempting to think of sunny and warm Los Angeles (even though it wasn’t that warm this time) and recollect my recent vacation. So here it is, one more piece of my last trip to California and an outfit, photos of which were taken a couple of weeks ago in Downtown LA.

Here I paired one of my latest loves, Sam Edelman spiked loafers, with destroyed skinny jeans (last seen here), quilted trench raincoat, metallic boyfriend beanie and, as a final touch, a new sequin stripe sweater. At first, this "salad" tasted funny to me… A polished trench coat along with a pair of extremely informal jeans and a boyfriend beanie, plus sequins, lurex and spikes; kind of the mix of unmixable things. Nevertheless, eventually it turned out to be quite delicious. The secret is that sometimes if something doesn’t feel right, it means it’s exactly what you should wear and what will succeed. Happy Friday, everyone! Just a quick hello today while unpacking the suitcases after almost a month spent in Los Angeles... By the way, this is the first blog post this year. So, Happy New Year 2013! I hope your holidays have been full of joy, pleasant surprises and lots of precious moments with your loved ones.

On another note, these photos were taken several days ago near one of my favorite Christmas Trees in Hollywood. I suppose, it’s definitely not a type of outfit you might think of envisioning Southern California, but yes, it was that cold there some days. So I paired the corduroy skinny pants and royal blue tunic sweater with a faux fur motorcycle jacket (who said it can be made of leather only?!) and the latest addition to my wedge sneakers collection - a pair of Ash hi-tops.

Now I have to admit that besides the obvious wedge sneakers obsession, I’ve been having a major crush on all shades of blue for the whole December. The strange and funny thing is that I didn’t realize it until after I started sorting the photos from this trip. Having a personal style blog can be quite revealing and beneficial… It can help you understand better your style preferences and organize your wardrobe. Have you ever felt that way? With A Touch Of Christmas

Happy holidays, everyone! I finally found some time for a post and first outfit from California this year. It hasn’t been very sunny lately in Los Angeles, so it was a bit hard for me to transition from New York blacks to California brights this time. On the other hand, why not? Black is always in style, isn’t it? Especially when the main part of the outfit is my new black DKNY trench coat with quilted accents I’m totally in love with. Nevertheless, if you read me on the regular basis, you might know that I love to add a pop of color even to the blackest color combo and today it’s the red ballet flats that also add a bit of Christmas to the look. Hope you like it!

By the way, talking about Christmas… To those who celebrated, I hope you had a wonderful time with your loved ones, ate delicious meals, received lots of presents and felt yourselves really happy. I wish you to keep this feeling throughout the whole 2013 and keep on smiling!

Last New York Outfit Post This Year

Happy Friday, everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I flew to Los Angeles last Monday and decided to spend this week in complete relaxation, well, almost… But here I am, refreshed and ready for lots of fun during the rest two and a half weeks in California. I’ll try my best to post as often as I can. Stay tuned!

Meanwhile, today’s outfit is the last one from New York this year. These photos were taken the day before I left for LA and it represents one of my casual outfits for running a marathon of errands in the city. It also reveals how crazy I can be when I really like something… I can easily buy it in several different colors! Like, for example, these Report wedge sneakers that I also got in taupe (seen here) as well as in black. Also I was extremely happy that I finally found beanie, scarf and gloves made of wool and angora, not acrylic, that I couldn’t resist and bought the set in two colors, red and black. I’m absolutely happy with the purchase and totally recommend considering buying this set as well, besides, it’s half the price now and seven different colors available. I’m also thinking of buying it in one more color… Sorry, I’m a shopaholic! Are you? :) Could you buy the same thing in different colors if you really like it? Have you ever?

Happy 12-12-12, everyone! What a beautiful date, isn’t it? And I spent this day beautifully, as well as yesterday, – with my dear friend from London that came to New York for several days. What a pleasure to spent time with her! You might’ve already seen our photo, if you follow me on Twitter.

On another note, today’s outfit represents my big love towards hats. And now is the season to wear them a lot more that usual. But not too much! Frankly, I have many different hats, I even don’t know how many exactly, but I don’t wear them often, because I totally agree with Anna Dello Russo on that: “Don’t wear hats everyday! Checked Coat Meets Studded Boots

Happy Sunday, everyone! Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Have you ever had a situation when you buy something, bring it home, and you really love it, but surprisingly don’t know what to wear it with? This is the exact story of these boots. I bought them long time ago but couldn’t catch the wind of inspiration and think of a good combination with them. I wore them only once and they were just a silent part of my shoe collection until recently when I finally decided that time has come. Studded boots are all over the place this season; I just couldn't miss the opportunity to keep up with this trend since I already have a pair.

The idea of this outfit came to me the very first minute I opened up the package from Asos the other day. It seemed to me that my so-called old studded boots would create a successful alliance with these new coat and sweater along with my favorite stretch corduroy skinny pants (I also wore them here, here and here). I also felt like the neon accent would be the perfect finishing touch to this look. I love the mix of black, white and neon colors; you might've already seen another example of such combination on this blog here.

Tweed Vest, Leather Pants, Wedge Sneakers

Continuing playing with white color this fall/winter, I mixed lots of other things I love in this outfit - vests, quilted accents, braided design, leather pants and wedge sneakers. Leather pants and vests always help me go through the cold seasons, and it looks like this year won’t be an exception. Also I added a brightly colored beanie here. Very often a small detail (like hats, scarves, gloves, etc.) can not only pull the whole outfit together but be very useful as well such as keep you really warm. By the way, the vest, sneakers and beanie are new, and I’m very happy with the purchase. What about you? What do you think? Do you like them?

On another note, if you follow me on Twitter (by the way, please, follow me there, I’d love to keep in touch!), you might’ve read that I was at Madonna’s concert (the MDNA Tour) two weeks ago. This was the second performance of hers I’ve been to. The first one (the Confessions Tour) was many years ago, in 2006. I’m not such a huge and crazy fan and I don’t approve every demonstration of her controversial personality, but I do respect her. Madonna is a workaholic and a professional! Another important thing I love about her is that she always tries, and definitely succeeds at, to keep up with the progress and modern technologies; she never stops and constantly develops her music, dancing, performances. She’s getting old, but she's never too old. The only thing that really upsets me is that she took the stage extremely late both times. Other than that, it was my pleasure being there and feel the energy of such extraordinary events. What about you? What do you think about Madonna? Have you been to any of her concerts? Was it a good experience?

Say “Yes” To White After Labor Day!

Obviously, the star of this outfit is the herringbone topper coat that I was lucky to buy on Nordstrom anniversary sale several months ago. Couldn’t wait for the colder weather to wear it. To some people it may look awkward and unflattering but I love its loose, boxy shape combined with traditional tweed fabric and an interesting, vintage cut that makes it a real stylish staple. I adore strangely shaped pieces of clothes like this coat that catch your attention and make you fantasize about what else would you wear it with. And, believe me, it can be styled in lots of different ways. Hope you like it, too, guys! What do you think?

As for the “no white after labor day” rule, I neither liked nor ever followed it. If the weather is appropriate and a white item isn’t too summery then I’d easily go for it. If you, on the contrary, were always afraid to wear whites during fall/winter, then don’t be scared anymore! White color is one of the leading trends this season. Plus, one of the best things about it is that we all have white clothing in our closets, haven’t we? So you don’t need to spend any money to try this trend, just shop your closet!

Midweek Shopping: Quilted Obsession

I’m such a happy girl this season! Guess why! :) I always loved anything quilted, but it was quite hard to find something really beautiful. Nevertheless, if you read my blog on a regular basic, you might remember my quilted ballet flats and bags, I own a pretty big collection of such treasures. This year the situation is totally different. There is an endless number of choices of anything you can imagine quilted. So now the problem is not where to find but what to choose… :)

Survived Frankenstorm. Blog Time Again.

Hey guys, just a quick post today! These photos were taken last week, when it was still sunny, warm and calm outside… I know I promised you to tell everything about my photography equipment in the next post, but sorry, not this time. It’s still an incredible craziness in New York, and it’s totally unbelievable how devastating Sandy’s aftermath is.

Thank God my family and I are fine and weren’t seriously affected by the Frankenstorm, even though it was a very scary experience. We were well prepared and extremely lucky, but my heart goes to those who weren’t that fortunate. And I'm so proud of and incredibly thankful to all those people (first responders, 911 and hospital workers, mayors, governors, etc.) who helped us go through Sandy and are still dealing with the hurricane’s consequences.

Also thank you all for your concerned messages and emails! That means a world to me and I appreciate every one of you, my precious readers!

Walking In My Wedge Sneakers

On another note, these pictures were taken during my recent trip to Canon Factory Service Center in New Jersey, which is, by the way, neverending two hour drive from my place, because there is no such center in New York. I had to go anyway because I needed my camera and lens to be cleaned.

Just in case you ever need this service too, keep in mind that:

1. You can either mail your gear or drop it off in person, the latter is the fastest way. The same with the way back. You can either pick your gear up or it can be mailed back to you.

2. If you are not entitled to any coverage under warranty any more, the simplest cleaning of your camera censor will cost you around $30. Believe me it’s totally worth it, because you cannot always get rid of all the specs yourself if you got any.

3. Such sensor cleaning takes about one hour, so you can wait for it to be done and bring the camera back home the very same day.

4. If you need the deep cleaning of your lens, for instance, there is a grinding sound when you move a focus ring, and maybe not just cleaning but also some parts replacement is possible, then, if you are not entitled to any coverage under warranty, it will cost you around $300. It’s pricey but it has to be done as soon as possible if you want a long and prosper life for your lens.

5. If you’re in the same area as me and going to drive there, it's good to know one tricky thing about the location. The official address of Canon Factory Service Center is 100 Ridge Road, Jamesburg, NJ 08831. The nearest highway access is NJ Turnpike Exit 8A. However, some GPS can’t find this address. The solution is to use Dayton, NJ, instead of Jamesburg, NJ. Or just use the coordinate N40°22.430' W74°27.570', which will bring you to the parking lot.

Thanks to my warranty (by the way, I also purchased an extended warranty plan which is always a good idea when you buy an expensive gadget) I didn’t pay anything and everything was done very fast. My camera and also my other lens (the one without any problems with it) were cleaned within an hour and my other lens (the one with the grinding sound; luckily there were no any serious problems with it) was done within a week including shipping time back to me. Now all my precious treasures are even better and cleaner than when they were brand new and I’m extremely inspired to shoot more and more and share the beauty of the world around us with you, my gorgeous readers.

Fall Layering With A Touch Of Gingham

If you read me on a regular basis, you probably notice that I refer to weather very often in my posts. That’s because I’m a true believer in wearing weather and occasion appropriate clothing (of course also beautiful and comfortable). Some words about weather today as well.

Every early fall there are several days when it’s not already too hot, not too cold yet and these are the perfect days for layering quite lightweight pieces of clothes without looking and feeling overly bundled up. This time I paired a gingham shirt with a boatneck top with kimono sleeves, added my favorite flare jeans and hidden platform pumps, and the last important detail here is the skinny belt that helps me stay in ladylike mood and balance the shape of this outfit in order not to convert it into boho style, that wasn’t the initial intention. Surely a beautiful statement necklace is always a good idea too, isn’t it?

Openwork Sweater And Floral Jeans

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you had a great weekend and ready for a new week!

As for me, I welcomed this week wearing this cheerful yellow pullover by Madewell, which is, by the way, a good example of sweaters that I love to wear in early fall and late spring. The reason is the openwork knit. Such sweaters keep you warm without overheating and perfect in-between season.

These photos were taken during my recent visit to Governors Island, one of my favorite places in New York. This is quite a special and interesting place, and not only because of its gorgeous view of Manhattan, Brooklyn and New Jersey but because of its colonial architecture, everlasting walking and picnic areas, bike roads and other engaging activities, and kind of mysterious atmosphere…

Still trying to wear as much summer clothes as possible until it gets cold outside, I chose these lace top and lightweight high waisted shorts plus quilted bag and top-siders for this short trip to Governors Island. Exactly what I love - feminine and comfy, isn’t it?

Shorts, by the way, are a versatile piece of clothing and you can play with them, mixing and matching with other clothes, all year long. For example, I wore mine last year with heels, boxy sweater and chunky jewelry. See details of last year’s outfit here. Which variant do you like best?

I love pairing this one button boyfriend blazer with t-shirts, especially if there is an interesting writing or print on it. While a t-shirt is comfortable and casual, the blazer makes the look more polished and helps to transition summer clothes to fall temperatures.
