■ Gwen Svekis (softball) and Kyle Kasser (baseball) each were awarded the Tom Hansen Medal winners yesterday.

The Tom Hansen Medal is awarded annually to the top male and female seniors at each university in the conference. The award is based on achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.

■ Mike White has decided to leave Oregon and head to Texas to be their new softball coach.

■ With the latest football recruiting binge Oregon has climbed to #6 nationally for the 2019 class.

■ Oregon's bid to win their first WCWS title fell short in a 4-1 loss to Florida St. yesterday.

■ Oregon lost to the dawgs 6-2 yesterday at the WCWS.

Oregon (53-9) will play Saturday (6:30 p.m. PT, ESPN) against the winner of an elimination game between Georgia and Florida State earlier in the day.

■ Oregon cruised to a 11-6 win over Arizona St. to open the WCWS.

■ Rob Moseley says the softball team has their eye on the ultimate prize plus strength coach Mark Dillon is the team's "unsung hero."

Four members of the team earned All-America honors yesterday. Pitcher Megan Kleist and catcher Gwen Svekis were both named first team NFCA All-Americans while pitcher Miranda Elish was a second team choice and third baseman Jenna Lilley was a third team pick.

■ The softball team run-ruled Kentucky 11-1 fueled by D.J. Sanders grand slam in the second inning.

Up Next: The Ducks (52-8) will open WCWS play in the very first game of this year's championship, against Arizona State on Thursday (9 a.m. PT, ESPN).

■ The baseball team lost to Arizona 11-4 to close out their regular season.

■ The softball team beat Kentucky 6-1 behind a two-hit complete game by Miranda Elish. The third and deciding game happens tonight at 6pm.

■ The baseball team beat Arizona 2-1 yesterday.

On deck: Oregon will look to win the series on Saturday when the Ducks send Matt Mercer (5-6, 3.95) to the mound. The Ducks have won all six of their home series in 2018.

■ It wasn't a good day on the diamond as the softball team dropped the opener vs Kentucky 9-6 and the baseball team lost to Arizona 10-2.

Softball: The two teams will meet again Friday at 8 p.m., in a game to be televised by ESPN2.

Baseball: The two teams will play game two of the series on Friday at 7 p.m. at PK Park. Sophomore Kenyon Yovan (5-4, 3.21) will pitch for the Ducks, while Michael Flynn (6-4, 5.21) is scheduled to go to the mound for Arizona.

Drake eliminated BYU on Friday night, earning a rematch with the Ducks today. If the Ducks win that game they move on to the Super Regionals or play Drake again in the finals.

Ducks Stuff: Monday Edition

■ The softball team was selected the #1 overall seed and will host regional play which starts Thursday the University of Albany at 5:30 pm.

By negotiating the regular-season schedule with a 44-7 record, Oregon finished with the No. 1 RPI in all of NCAA softball, and was rewarded Sunday with the No. 1 overall seed into the NCAA Tournament.

■ The baseball team earned the series sweep by beating Utah 4-3 yesterday.

On Deck: The Ducks open a three-game series at UCLA on Friday. All three games will be on Pac-12 Networks, at 4 p.m. on Friday, 1:30 p.m. on Saturday and noon Sunday.
