The second issue that I came across was getting people to respond in a timely fashion. I received an email from someone in Kentucky but it was only for a work survey and I was really confused because I emailed the Kentucky Childcare Counsel 4 times to different people and received no response.
The third consequence to being in the early childhood field is the fact that I am a man…Black…and educated with knowledge that goes beyond just the classroom…a reality that I still wish that would change but it’s so sad. I will say this much, I won’t give up just because of bias of gender or the past indecencies of people that had nothing to do with me…

Visiting Chicago and learning about the K12 initiative in that area

Week 7 Assignment 2

Blog Assignment: Getting to Know Your International Contacts—Part 3
I visited the website http://www.ecechicago.org/ and looked up the Early Learning Standards for head start and home schooling. What I found was pretty cool. I like that the website takes you through a virtual tour and gives you plenty of insight on how to keep up to code and regulation in Illinois. They have a pdf that you can read http://www.ecechicago.org/resources/pdfs/standards01.pdf, this breaks down how the standards come into play for example, they have a list for language arts, math, and science all from a virtual stand point that is used by K12. For further information you can go to the website listed above…

This initiative seems to be drafted by some ex-military advisers that claim that the only way that the children of tomorrow will succeed will be by more and more behavior modifications in the classrooms so that they are completely submissive to the teachers demands. I have cut and pasted some of the article here to view if you want more info go to the main website at:http://developingchild.harvard.edu/index.php/activities/global_initiative/

I don't like this initiative at all granted the fact that some of the ideas are good, they are still invading the peace of mind a teacher and parent have in regulating what that particular child wants to learn. It's none of the governments business what goes on at home when it comes to cognitive development if it is giving a positive impact on that child's life. Now we see what goes on in the minds of children these days. They can be the smartest one's on the block and still act like some class "A" fools. Why is this, it's what they are programmed with when we are hard at work and in the field working for the government.

Our homes already have been invaded if you want to go there with this issued and they government has the nerve to say that they want to leave policy making to the "big" thinkers as if we are stupid and don't know what is best for our own kids. You talk about a slap in the face and an insult to your intelligence. Read this article and you will see how much of a fool you are being played for...

FORTUNE 500 OR SLAVERY

My blog address is www.thewisdomcorner.blogspot.com
I posted to my blog in reference to the website by the United States Chamber of Commerce. Did you know the chamber of commerce looks at your child as a relative investment to keep the interest of Fortune 500 companies? If not you may want to go to http://icw.uschamber.com, and http://www.rand.org/pubs/research briefs/ 2008/RAND RB9352.pdf to find out more. I was asked to post several statements regarding these views and I found that all of them were in the interest of these corporations that look at us as financial cash cows and plan to take over our education system and what is being taught in our classrooms. It seems to be a plan to include your child as an incentive for “big business”. There are some that feel that it can help with the job situation that we are facing here in the America’s but in my personal and professional opinion, I think we are just economical slaves and no one cares to change that frame of thinking. There are some that are so comfortable with this way of thinking, that they don’t see how upsetting it is to the balance. If we let big business take over our classrooms, there is no more music, there is no more art, there is no more humanity, there is only business. And we already can see what that can lead us. Corporations running away with our hard earned dollars to escape prosecution by the United States Governments. These corporations already use off shore accounts to hide the money they steal and say it was all just a clerical error. So when your child doesn’t get picked to get the benefits they need when a heart transplant is needed. We turn to “John Q” and hold the hospital hostage until the corporation changes its policies. Can it go this far? Yes if American’s get desperate enough for change…

What's really goin on in our country?

I recently looked at a classmates posting about poverty and the most disturbing thing is that China is coming up like a whirlwind. Their poor are becoming richer and you would think that because they are communist, they would be poor. But hey, they are a billion strong and they control what is going on in their government and the people seem very happy to be a part of it. I had a dream of going to China and living there because I love the culture not as much as my own, but since they have admitted that they come from African decent makes me proud to know that there are people out there that may not care about what they see in this day and age but they give honor to their ancestors...

CHIP - Knowledge for Tackling Childhood Poverty

I visited http://www.childhoodpoverty.org/ and looked over the website to see what ideas are being addressed about children and poverty. I can see it clearly; its because the man has been thinking with his lower self for so long he no longer realized that his other head is functioning. It goes the same way for women. But I will lay this on you. Over the centuries the debate about women is this. Why should men listen to women, they are docile creatures that are full of envy and jealousy. They no not the affairs of men because they are not men. These are the statements of homosexuals if you ask me and when I hear women say these things about men it makes me nervous about them too.

The bashing of the sexes is stupid and old and we all need to shut up and just listen to each other. Man, seriously the women created you and you have right to disrespect her at all. Her power is in her name all in itself. Womb-man; from the womb becomes man. Not the other way around. Get it right! And you women that don't respect your womb, need to get a reality check as well. Don't complain your life isn't good because men don't treat you right. Get this, as long as you open your womb to a man in the context that you do, he will never respect what you are thinking and what you have to say. I tell this to my daughter now that she is smelling herself and thinks she knows better then me or her mother.

Men have no right to come down on a women because she can bring life in the world and take it without consequence in the eyes of God because God created her so she could create man. You women have forgotten that when in the zygomatic stage of development there is no sex and once that energy is established there are two sexes just like God and what ever that person's destiny is, chooses the sex. It's not just a chromosome, science has made us all neglect what the truth really is. We are all one and we have no right to separate ourselves the way we do...God has no sex so what makes people think it's a man? God is not a woman, so what makes people think that it is a woman? God is it...that's all; nothing else. So all this negativity about the sexes is really ridiculous...

To be quite honest I feel like a education spy lol. Well, I think that this is kind of interesting because it would give me a more insite on how China and Ghana does schooling for their children. I have always been interested in the culture besides watching kung fu movies and documentaries of my own people from a distance. But the one thing that does interest me is the way that they go about teaching their children. I have a couple of links that I have come across in class and I hope the someone can utilize these links as well.

“Play is recreation, amusement, or fun. Even more says Jeanne Bassis, founder of PlayReflections® (www.PlayReflections.com) who offers “playshops” for adults, “Play is not just about doing, it’s about being. Play is a state of grace, innocence, wonder and creativity... and happens when anyone is truly living in the present tense.”

“Play is often described as a time when we feel most alive, yet we often take it for granted and may completely forget about it. But play isn't a luxury - it's a necessity. Play is as important to our physical and mental health as getting enough sleep, eating well, and exercising. Play teaches us how to manage and transform our "negative" emotions and experiences. It supercharges learning, helps us relieve stress, and connects us to others and the world around us. Play can also make work more productive and pleasurable.”

The last quote that I took from the helpguide.org is very helpful to those what are wondering what is play about and how to be more like a kid themselves. I was once told that having fun keeps the spirit young and alive. We often wish that we were young again so we can relive some of our childhood experiences; and maybe even change them. But the fact remains is that children have to play to exert their creativity and expand their minds. I ask the question, have you really had fun with your kids today? I mean really get down and dirty with them in the mud or just running around the house with water-guns? Maybe even getting involved with them building a club house? You don’t really know what your child is thinking until you get down on their level and let them show you how to have fun in their world.

When I was working in daycare, I often took the kids on an imaginary tour and let them be the hosts of what to do. For example, I would tell all the kids to sit in a circle and put their thumbs up and who ever I put the thumb down to would be the one to take us on the tour. It was a spinoff of the game “thumbs up” able to play until we got tire and wanted to come inside.

It is sad that the play that we see today comes from an electronic device geared to distract the mind instead of facilitating growth. There are too many distractions that children come up against because we adults want to control everything instead of just being happy and free spirited. We don’t act out of love anymore, we act out of fear and self-ridicule. We force our childhood expectations on our children instead of them making up in their minds what they want to do. As long as they have a realistic picture of the outcome of their actions, then they will be fine in my opinion.

I can’t use myself for an example because my time of a child is over, as much as I would love to be playful and have fun all day; society doesn’t allow fun any longer without strict rules and sanctions. When I was a child, we played kickball, now kids have to take tests all day. When I was a kid, I had friends, now kids have conversations about who is having sex at the age of 8. This is only because of what we are allowing them to see and hear. We ‘real’ parents that want the best for our kids let them play how they want to play as long as it is constructive and productive. We just don’t let our kids run wild and crazy! I teach my kids to love who they are no matter if they will have friends or acquaintances.

According to NIU Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management/ Campus Child Care;
“From birth to adolescence, constructive play is vital to most aspects of children's intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development. Consequently, play prepares children for academic learning - as they begin their school years and at each step along the way. Ultimately, play prepares children for rewarding adult lives. Many experts believe that adult personality may very well have its foundation in the play of the child.

"Through constructive play, children expand their intelligence - their knowledge and understanding of the world around them. Play is a testing ground for language and reasoning skills - a laboratory for learning to connect to challenges children face in school, such as literacy, math, and science concepts. Constructive play stimulates the imagination - encouraging creative problem solving and providing opportunities for accomplishments that help children develop confidence, self-esteem, a sense of their own strengths and weaknesses, and a positive attitude toward learning.”
http://www.niu.edu/ccc/curriculum/play_learning.shtml

There were some differences between the kind of play that we are talking about and the childhood play that should be administered in child educational centers. The differences in most instances when it comes to play and learning; the adults were not involved in the discoveries that were being uncovered amongst children verses the supervision that comes with a childhood educational center. Under supervision children have limitations to what children are allowed to see and converse among themselves because of censorship and so forth. When they are on their own, they mimic what the adults are most likely to demonstrate when in a social setting. For example, in a social setting, the parents are the ones that are facilitating cognitive stimulation, and when the children are in an educational setting, it is geared to coach the children to think for them-selves and problem-solve at the same time while at play.

The point I am trying to make is that children play because it is their release to the stress of their everyday lives. They play to love, laugh, and to live. They play because they have the right to be free spirited and be who they want to be without corruption…

My Support System

My daily support system and what it means to me.
Sup-port, tr.v. sup-port-ed, sup-port-ing, sup-ports
1. To bear the weight of, especially from below.
2. To hold in position so as to keep from falling, sinking, or slipping.
3. To be capable of bearing; withstand.
4. To keep from weakening or failing; strengthen:
5. To provide for or maintain, by supplying with money or necessities.
6. To furnish corroborating evidence for:
a. To aid the cause, policy, or interests of:
b. To argue in favor of; advocate:
7. To endure; tolerate:
8. To act in a secondary or subordinate role to (a leading performer).
In this description that I am prepared to give will touch on more than just the educational aspects of this class. The question is about what are “my” supports from day to day and to describe these things will take some beyond comprehension of life as we know it; so please bear with me and have an open mind.
Before I start my day I pray to my head. I pray to my head because it is in fact what I use during the day to get me from point a to point b. It is what I use to reason and intellectualize with the rest of the world which includes my family. My second avenue of support is my ancestors. Every morning I give them thanks to see a new day to get things on this plane of existence right. Whether it is dealing with children or just going about my daily routine. My ancestors give me a support system that stems back from before slavery. With their knowledge I am who I am and they guide me from one place to another. My trust lies with them and not in man. Because of this faith, I am able to talk to my children with ease, I am able to deal with people in which I come in contact without bias and with an open mind. With them as my support, I don’t have to worry about dealing with the wrong type of people or walking into situations that may endanger me or my family. For example, in 2009 I was walking my wife to the bus stop at 6am in the morning and for some reason I didn’t feel easy about it and neither did she. Our spirits were being warned of danger it seemed. As we approached the bus stop we noticed that there was a complete silence that came over the neighborhood and that made us really uncomfortable. The moment we decided that we should take a short walk, a man walked up from behind us and pulled out a 9mm and said that we know what to do. In a situation like that adrenaline would be pumping and fear would cause a reaction of what we call the “fight or flight syndrome”. This did not happen in this case we didn’t fight, we didn’t run. We were perfectly calm and we refused to give anything. The man pointed his gun at my wife and I faced her without fear intending to shield her from whatever was going to happen and he could not pull the trigger. He just simply walked away. I looked at my wife and as upset as we were all we could think about was our daughter at the time who’s birthday was coming up in just a day or two.
When the sun rose we noticed that this person had robbed an elder Chinese woman who faught back and died over a roll of quarters. I thought to myself, if I had not have sat with my ancestors that morning and asked for protection from what was unknown and the world, we may not have been here to tell this story about support. What I am trying to say is that it doesn’t matter that we have money or not. The kind of care we have or the house that we live in. We have each other and we are still growing stronger everyday with the support of our ancestors and those who see the connection that we have with earth and spirit. I have noticed that we tend to turn our backs on one another for stupid reasons. We turn our backs on our children for decisions that are made because of the influence we have on them. Our world is messed up and so is our cognitive understanding. My support is my lineage and the energy that is in it. That will never change; and I will do whatever it takes to protect that support system. When I deal with children I often ask them what makes them tick and who gives them support in their lives. Some say it’s the music, some say it’s about clothes, some even have the nerve to say they want to rule the world. The thing about it is they are so confused and lost, they don’t realize that their support system comes from within as well. On a daily basis, I give praise to my head to make the right decisions, I give thanks to my wife and children who constant teach me easier ways to live my life without so much as carrying the world on my shoulders. We say that love will conquer all. The fact that we have stop believing has taken its toll. It is up to us as teachers and educator to relight the fire of trusting in ourselves to be guiding lights to our future generations otherwise what are we here for?

Relationship Reflections

What is in a relationship? There is so much confusion about what this term means.
Re-la-tion-ship: n.
1. The condition or fact of being related; connection or association.
2. Connection by blood or marriage; kinship.
3. A particular type of connection existing between people related to or having dealing with each other:
4. A romantic or sexual involvement.
In this definition of relationship it states that there are similarities that tie two or more people together in some way or fashion. The problem I am having with this is no matter how my people have tried to related and be on the same page of existence with the rest of the world. We are still seen as the minority and less than human. The statement that Shonkoff & Philips made in 2004 is hypocritical to me. When I think about this statement it I can only come to the conclusion that he was speaking of his own people and not anyone else for the sake of education. If we are to have “healthy” building blocks in relationships, we need to first drop the definitions and intellectual misconceptions that all people are equal and will be treated in that fact. For example, all of my life I have been looked down upon because of someone else’s misconception of what it is to be a man of the African descent. How did these relationships form or develop? From propaganda and self-hatred being spread by those who don’t understand why they are not the same. We have programs that want to paint a picture that people are seriously trying to get along no matter what creed you come from but it is just not true at all. We see it in politics, we see it in our education, and we see it in our homes as well. The mind is a powerful instrument to control or condition to a person’s will. The point that I am trying to make is that in the definition of relationship, the point of having any kind of spiritual connection with every living thing has been taken out of understanding which leaves room for error on the human level of existence.
How can you make a relationship withstand the test of time? Be honest in your findings of the individuals that you come in contact with and share those experiences without bias. We as humans fail to do this time and time again. That is why we don’t live in harmony with nature. For those of us who are trying to reestablish that connection or relationship; there are those who don’t want to see the change due to fear of the unknown and unseen. I have come to the conclusion that looking for the good in people will only lead me to be lying to myself that all humanity will change for the better. There are too many egos and the need to fulfill the egos need is more important than survival and being in harmony with nature so we can be as one and get along with one another. There are too many power struggles and the destruction of the spirit and mind is always in the forefront of the battle for peace.
The only relationships that I hold dear are those in which there is not judgment because my brainwave patterns are different; the fact that I would rather look at the sky versus looking at a television. The fact that I see no difference between man and woman except for the fact that woman holds all the keys to existence in her womb and man seems to want to always destroy that connection. I have no faith in man because man has destroyed so much of this world and taken away most of what kept us in harmony with the universe. What would my life be without the relationships in which I speak of? I will leave that up to you to figure out. I have answered the questions that the instructor asked me to answer to the best of MY knowledge. To try to reflect on someone else’s beliefs and understanding will take away from my own experience. I hope you understand, I don’t see relationships with people, I see their spirit because that is what they are. As a childcare professional, dealing with children is to deal with the spirit in its purest form. Who would I be to taint that being the way most of the world has done already? My job is to protect and teach these special children how to protect themselves against that sort of corruption as well.

Thank you…

Good day my fellow classmates,

I have been asked to consider this quote “Human relationships, and the effects of relationships on relationships, are the building blocks of healthy development” (Shonkoff & Phillips, 2000, p. 4). I think that they were drinking when they posted this statement. Human relationships and the effects of relationships on relationships. That alone bothers me because it sounds like someone was just talking to hear them-selves talk. Also, it sounds like a passing thought!

I will do my best to explain what a relationship is without using the definition provided by someone else. My wife and I have a relationship with each-other. Our relationship is built off of the overstanding that the universe provides us what we need to sustain our lives here on this earth. Is that overstanding, we see that our souls are different, but our spirits may be intertwined, interlinked, bound together because of fate being chose by our destiny’s. Our relationship is built on power of the spirit and mind, forged by our ancestors will and that is immortalized by the birth of our children. In our children’s eyes we see how much we have learned in the time that we have spent here on the earth and what we still have to learn. From that overstanding, we have a partnership to protect the children at all cost and make sure they are the ones that pass on our tradition.

My family, spiritual and physical, gives me the foundation to move with certainty and courage. From this relationship, I have transcended the reflections of most men in this world and by those who wish for us to remain slaves of the mind. Willie Lynch said that he wanted to keep the African a mind slave for as long as he could to build off of him and keep him weak. Make his women dependent on those who rape, steal, and degrade every living thing on the earth. Because of this rebellion, I am nature on all aspects and respect what is gifted to me on all levels of my being and I will do whatever it takes to defend that privilege. I care not what others think of me because I don’t have to answer to them, I only answer to what has created me and what is in place to govern me and my existence. I have a relationship with me and I encourage all of you to have the same relationship. Learn about your chakras’ and what purpose they have in your life. Learn your blood type so that you can live a healthy life. Learn your mind so that you won’t fall victim to the sickness of greed, envy, and the delusion of power.

The human relationship has been neglected to the point that it has no foundation anymore. It is either you have or you have not. The animals see this within us and they turn from us or attack because of this lack of composition in our characters. People believe that if they have some form of title that it makes them important, but it just makes them more clouded to the reality that there is not title just a responsibility. For example, a father has the title defined in many contexts, one being a person that has donated to the feminine principal to help create another being in existence. The other is one who cares for the masses as a role-model and one you can console in times of crisis. When it is regarding my positioning in my family hierarchy, I am a Chief, Father, Husband, Spiritualist, Healer, and Counselor of the mind. But who cares, I am just a being that comes from a source that is very misunderstood. My relationship with all of this has to be positive because that is the harmony that I asked for in this life. If I cannot find the harmony in these relationships then the relationship will fail and I will have to start all over again until I get it right. It is a shame that our society has forgotten how to let love be love, and let life be simple. There are too many minds and everyone wants to be the leader but they don’t know how to lead. Our children are the key to that missing link. Nurture them and we nurture ourselves.

When do racists begin to teach our children?

I am sending out a message to those who may be wondering but not being able to put their finger on what is wrong with that particular teacher! We love our children and want them to get the best out of education that they possibly can right?! Well, there are some schools that employ individuals that are racist and don't care about removing them from their position because they feel like it would hurt the schools reputation.

I put my daughter in public school in Henderson North Carolina at a school named E.M. Rollins this past October. In the mists of her going she would come home and tell me and her mother about a teacher that was always saying negative things about the students to their faces and making remarks that were damaging to their spirits. There have been numerous complaints about this individual, needless to say me and her mother paid a visit to the school to see what was going on and the principal was so assuring that he would take care of it and get to the bottom of the situation. It had been three weeks and there was nothing done at all. We then asked for a meeting with all the teachers that my daughter was being seen by and asked for progress reports.

My daughter was being tested for the gifted program and the only problem she was having was in this particular teachers class. Because of the sensitivity of this situation and the law. I don't want to say this person's name but I will say that he is the only language arts teacher that this school has and he is one of the most evilest people that I have ever met. I searched on line about this person and he used to have a web blog named "Home in Henderson". I would encourage everyone to take a look at this blog site if it is still up for viewing, but I believe that it's not any longer because of his content he was asked to take it down. Now these are issues that are still in our public school systems and I swear that if people can't get past the fact that we people of color are in existence, they just need to kill themselves and save us all the misery. Yes I said they need to take care of it and vanish! It is old energy and the children need to see something else besides ignorance! I won't say that I was naive in thinking that she would be okay in a town that is prodominately African-American, but the things that I have seen come from some the White and black people in this town is sickning.

I am trying to concieve the notion as to why people are acting like they are out of their minds when they are dealing with children? All they want is to be taken care of when they are away from home just like we would if we were little. But the fact that we use our position to demean the character of our children and make them less than what they are should not be taken lightly. And if it were not for laws of slander, I would definately let you all know who this "A"hole is just in case you were deciding to visit Henderson, North Caronlina....

Those who have wisdom will seek out the truth....

Thank you!!!

I wanted to say thank you to Wanda Goethe, and Tamara Faires. I know that children are extentions of our selves and that makes us immortal. I know that children are the extentions of our ancestors so that our DNA can go further in the universe. With this knowledge, I give respect to those who have positive things to say about children but I am going to use my own thoughts in how I describe a child that is my own. To use a quote is not my own words, it will not really be a honest description of how I feel about children so therefore...
This is dedicated to my son Ade'...

Waiting for your laughter a poem by Obadele A. Bomani

When I first though of you the thunder rolled across the sky
I heard laughter in the clouds
Then the heavens created you
Atoms began to vibrate and synapsis created bliss
Lightning struck the imagination of our beings
Then the definition of you came into existence
9 months of hunger, turbulent waters, and you hiding from pictures
Our love growing with every trimester
Listening to your heart beating then you began to kick your father and mother
As the days went by patiently waiting to hear your laughter
When you were able to see, your hand met mine
You seemed to respond when I sung that song “Time After Time”
Your father is so grateful for the being that your mother brought forth in the world
Ade’ the returning crown is born…

JUST LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE!!!!

The question has been posted as to how do we measure the intelligence of a child? Why even bother with the whole thing? There is too much going on with trying to find out what is going on in a childs mind. If you pay attention long enough, you just may find out. Our society is so consumed with the head that the people that are asking the questions are loosing their minds...

Children are the reflections of the parents and the environment in which they live to some degree, but the ultimate goal is just to what what a child has to offer. In other world countries, they just let the kids be kids, due to the fact they know that innocence is a very important virtue. So why not protect it. I am saying the same thing. In fact here is a book that may peek your intrests.

What is the problem with color?

I can remember back when I was in 8th grade and me and my brother wanted to go out and play some football in the snow. It was a bright sunny day and we had nothing better to do. It was early at or around maybe 11 in the morning. My brother decided he wanted to make snow forts like we did when we were younger and have football wars. I said cool and started to dig trenches in the snow while doing the big brother thing and blast him with snowballs when he wasn't looking. Then when we were really getting into enjoying ourselves, two other boys who were Caucasian walked up and took my brother's football and walked off. I was heated instantly because there was still racial tension where I lived. Black people were always subject to racial profiling and discrimination. When the boys took my brother's football, one of them said "these niggers won't mind us borrowing there football". Laughed and proceeded to walk away like it was okay. I looked at my brother and he had tears in his eyes because I bought him that football, made me go off. After being called a nigger in school then being called it again in front of my own house was enough. So I sent the boy to the hospital with 21 stitches to the face. The next incident was in school and there was this boy who thought he was the cream of the crop of Caucasian boys thought he could bully the black kids all the time till he faced me and a group of my boys. I remember we were in English class and the teacher left out to make copies and as soon as she left the room he balled off and smacks me in the back of the head and says to his friend "you gotta keep'm in line every now and then". So I kicked his butt in front of his friend and his friend got it too for laughing.

In America, it's custom for Caucasian people to look at people of color like they have a problem. This infection of the mind started a long time before there was a African slave trade. Fear was there ammunition and still is to this day. They use television and the news to do it eloquently and most of the people that are in other countries and ignorant to the fact that we are beautiful people need a reality check as well. I have talked to people from the middle east and they all have told me that they don't like the propaganda that America tells because most of it are lies just to get a reaction from the people. If I had to look at another country and talk about the racism involved it would be Rowanda because they committed a mass genocide because British intelligence were too involved with their affairs and they did nothing to try to save those people from themselves.

There are so many countries that commit racism only because they are lacking self-love as a people and have no right to look down on any other type of race because if you have wisdom you would know that all civilization come from the womb of a "BLACK" woman.

Postpartum Depression and how to treat it...

Child Development and Public Health

Breastfeeding and mental health
“Studies have shown that women are more likely to suffer mental health disorders in the early postpartum period.”

What this statement says is that if the mother is not in a healthy state of well-being mentally, she can pass on that mental abnormality to her infant. The best way to prevent this from happening in my opinion is to invest in herbal remedies and other forms of anti-depressants. There are several ways to calm a person down using herbs. On herb is Nettle “Various types of Nettle have been studied for their effects on prostate hypertrophy, diabetes mellitus, rheumatic disease, hypertension, gastrointestinal symptoms, osteoarthritis, diarrhea, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation, pain, constipation, gastrointestinal disease, headache, nausea, common cold, arthritis, asthma, bleeding, respiratory tract disease, allergic rhinitis, kidney disease, prostate cancer, skin disease and urinary tract disease In terms of allergies, nettle contains properties of an antihistamine to be used for treating reactions associated with the respiratory system.”

Another herb that can be used is St. John’s Wort.

“St John's wort is widely known as an herbal treatment for depression. In some countries, such as Germany, it is commonly prescribed for mild depression, especially in children and adolescents.”

I just wanted to say that to get through postpartum depression takes teamwork. The father has to do his part by making sure the mother gets her rest, making sure that the baby is looked after at all times. That means that dad can't stay out all hours of the night, that means that dad had to clean the house and tend to the other kids if any. That also means that he has to be a man and tell his boss to back off if his wife needs his help. One other thing that will happen is that the father gets his bonding time with the baby. From personal experience, that time that a father shares with the baby goes a long way especially if the baby can see that daddy can be trusted to do what he is supposed to do as dad without any stress in his heart and spirit. Granted this time and age that may be hard to do, but if both parties play in it together, then the ratio for postpartum can be reduced dramatically. Now what is majorly important is if the mother is breastfeeding at the time. Fellas, you got to give her a break so that she is not stressed and full of emotions that are going off the charts, she will be emotionally unstable more now than she was will she was carrying the baby. Soft music, and laughter does wonders to the stress levels of the mother. Make sure you are ahead of schedule, that means all the bills are paid on time or ahead of time, no one is bothering you guys while she is healing because having a baby causes stress to the body that a man just cannot imagine and she will hate you if you don't give her the time she needs to heal. Just remember ladies, that just because he is a man doesn't mean that he can't be depressed too. If you have a man that has been doing his job then you gotta tell him so that he won't feel so overwhelmed as well. Give him a break from time to time to collect his thoughts about what just happened. He just had a baby man! The stress is high, the emotions are high and the excitement is off the charts. Everyone has to do their part. Never mind what the statistics say. Be good to one another, the baby will like it and show it later on in life.
HERE IS HOW TO BREAK THE CYCLE

Editor's note: Willie Lynch, a slave-owner living in the West Indies, produced a handbook (similar to an "owner's manual" for products and goods we purchase and own) for use by slave-owners living in the United States. Willie Lynch's plan directly explains the process used to break the minds, bodies, and spirits of Black people during slavery. The long term, lasting effects of this "process" can be observed, even today, in the average African American and West Indian family structure. Lynch's systematic "seasoning" methods, explained in the text of "Let's Make A Slave," copiously details the seasoning process for enslaved Africans and their future generations. The language in this handbook directly reflects the tone of the author. The audience of the handbook viewed Black people not as human beings, but as property (goods) and a primary element in their successful long range economic plan.

'Let's Make A Slave'

The Origin and Development of a Social Being Called "The Negro"
By Willie Lynch

"The Black slave after receiving this indoctrination shall carry on and will become self re-fueling and self-generating for hundreds of years, maybe thousands."

Let us make a slave. What do we need? First of all we need a black nigger man, a pregnant nigger woman and her baby nigger boy. Second, we will use the same basic principle that we use in breaking a horse, combined with some more sustaining factors. We reduce them from their natural state in nature; whereas nature provides them with the natural capacity to take care of their needs and the needs of their offspring, we break that natural string of independence from them and thereby create a dependency state so that we may be able to get from them useful production for our business and pleasure.

CARDINAL PRINCIPLES FOR MAKING A NEGRO

For fear that our future generations may not understand the principles of breaking both horses and men, we lay down the art. For , if we are to sustain our basic economy we must break both of the beasts together, the nigger and the horse. We understand that short range planning in economics results in periodic economic chaos, so that, to avoid turmoil in the economy, it requires us to have breadth and depth in long range comprehensive planning, articulating both skill and sharp perception. We lay down the following principles for the long range comprehensive economic planning:

1) Both horse and niggers are no good to the economy in the wild of natural state.
2) Both must be broken and tied together for orderly production.
3) For orderly futures, special and particular attention must be paid to the female and the youngest offspring.
4) Both must be crossbred to produce a variety and division of labor.
5) Both must be taught to respond to a peculiar new language.
6) Psychological and physical instruction of containment must be created for both.

We hold the above six cardinals as truths to be self-evident, based upon the following discourse concerning the economics of breaking and tying the horse and the nigger together... all-inclusive of the six principles laid down above. NOTE: Neither principles alone will suffice for good economics.

All principles must be employed for the orderly good of the nation. Accordingly, both a wild horse and a wild or natural nigger is dangerous even if captured, for they will have the tendency to seek their customary freedom, and in doing so, might kill you in your sleep. You cannot rest.

They sleep while you are awake and are awake while you are asleep. They are dangerous near the family house and it requires too much labor to watch them away from the house. Above all you cannot get them to work in this natural state. Hence, both the horse and the nigger must be broken, that is break them from one form of mental life to another, keep the body and take the mind. In other words, break the will to resist.

Now the breaking process is the same for the horse and the nigger, only slightly varying in degrees. But as we said before, you must keep your eye focused on the offspring of the horse and the nigger. A brief discourse in offspring development will shed light on the key to sound economic principles. Pay little attention to the generation of original breaking but concentrate on future generations.

Therefore, if you break the female, she will deliver it up to you. For her normal female protective tendencies will have been lost in the original breaking process. For example, take the case of the wild stud horse, a female horse and an already infant horse and compare the breaking process with tow nigger males in their natural state, a pregnant nigger woman with her infant offspring.

Take the stud horse, break him for limited containment. Completely break the female horse until she becomes very gentle whereas you or anybody can ride her in comfort. Breed the mare and the stud until you have the desired offspring. Then you can turn the stud to freedom until you need him again. Train the female horse whereby she will eat out of your hand, and she will train the infant horse to eat out of your hand also.

When it comes to breaking the uncivilized nigger, use the same process, but vary the degree and step up the pressure so as to do a complete reversal of the mind. Take the meanest and most restless nigger, strip him of his clothes in front of the remaining male niggers, the female, and the nigger infant, tar and feather him, tie each leg to a different horse faced in opposite directions, set him afire and beat both horses to pull him apart in front of the remaining niggers. The next step is to take a bullwhip and beat both the remaining nigger male to the point of death in front of the female and the infant. Don't kill him. But put the fear of God in him, for he can be useful for future breeding.

THE BREAKING PROCESS OF THE AFRICAN WOMAN

Take the female and run a series of test on her to see if she will submit to your desires willingly. Test her in every way, because she is the most important factor for good economics. If she shows any sign of resistance in submitting completely to your will, do not hesitate to use the bull whip on her to extract that last bit of bitch out of her. Take care not to kill her, for in doing so, you spoil good economics. When in complete submission, she will train her offspring in the early years to submit to labor when they become of age. Understanding is the best thing.

Therefore , we shall go deeper into this area of the subject matter concerning what we have produced here in this breaking of the female nigger. We have reversed the relationships. In her natural uncivilized state she would have a strong dependency on the uncivilized nigger male, and she would have a limited protective dependency toward her independent male offspring and would raise offspring to be dependent like her. Nature had provided for this type of balance. We reverse nature by burning and pulling one civilized nigger apart and bull whipping the other to the point of death--all in her presence.

By her being left alone, unprotected, with the male image destroyed, the ordeal caused her to move from her psychological dependent state to a frozen independent state. In this frozen psychological state of independence she will raise her male and female offspring in reversed roles. For fear of the young male's life she will psychologically train him to be mentally weak and dependent but physically strong. Because she has become psychologically independent she will train her female offspring to be psychologically independent as well.

What have you got? You've got the nigger woman out front and the nigger man behind and scared. This is a perfect situation for sound sleep and soundly, for out of frozen fear, his woman stands guard for us. He cannot get past her early infant slave molding process. He is a good tool, now ready to be tied to the horse at a tender age. By the time a nigger boy reaches the age sixteen, he is soundly broken in and ready for a long life of sound and efficient work and the reproduction of a unit of good labor force.

Continually, through the breaking of uncivilized savage niggers, by throwing the nigger female savage into a frozen psychological state of independency, by killing the protective image, and by creating a submissive dependent mind of the nigger male slave, we Have created an orbiting cycle that turns on its own axis forever, unless a phenomenon occurs and reshifts the positions of the male and female savages. We show what we mean by example. We breed two nigger males with two nigger females. Then we take the nigger males away from them and keep them moving and working. Say the nigger female bears a nigger female and the other bears a nigger male.

Both nigger females, being without influence of the nigger male image, frozen with an independent psychology, will raise their offspring into reverse positions. The one with the female offspring will teach her to be like herself, independent and negotiable (we negotiate with her, through her, by her, and negotiate her at will). The one with the nigger male offspring, she being frozen with conscious fear for his life, will raise him to be mentally dependent and weak, but physically strong...in other words, body over mind. Now, in a few years when these two offspring become fertile for early reproduction, we will mate and breed them and continue the cycle. that is good, sound, and long range comprehensive planning.

WARNING: POSSIBLE INTERLOPING NEGATIVES

Earlier, we talked about the non-economic good of the horse and the nigger in their wild or natural state; we talked out the principle of breaking and tying them together for orderly production, furthermore, we talked about paying particular attention to the female savage and her offspring for orderly future planning; then more recently we stated that, by reversing the positions of the male and the female savages we had created an orbiting cycle that turns on its axis forever, unless phenomenon occurred, and reshifted the positions of the male and female savages.

Our experts warned us about the possibility of this phenomenon occurring, for they say that the mind has a strong drive to correct and recorrect itself over a period of time if it can touch some substantial original historical base; and they advise us that the best way to deal with this phenomenon is to shave off the brute's mental history and create a multiplicity of phenomenon or illusions so that each illusion will twirl in its own orbit, something akin to floating ball in a vacuum.

This creation of multiplicity of phenomenon or illusions entails the principles of cross-breeding the nigger and the horse as we stated above, the purpose of which is to create diversified divisions of labor. The result of which is the severance of the points of original beginning's for each spherical illusion. Since we feel that the subject matter may get more complicated as we proceed in laying down our economic plan concerning the purpose, reason, and effect of cross-breeding horses and niggers, we shall lay down the following definitional terms for future generations.

1. Orbiting cycle means a thing turning in a given pattern.
2. Axis means upon which or around which a body turns.
3. Phenomenon means something beyond ordinary conception and inspires awe and wonder
4. Multiplicity means a great number.
5. Sphere means a globe.
6. Cross-breeding a horse means taking a horse and breeding it with an ass and your get a dumb backward ass, long-headed mule that is not reproductive nor productive by itself.
7. Cross-breeding niggers means taking so many drops of good white blood and putting them into as many nigger women as possible, varying the drops by the various tones that you want, and then letting them breed with each other until the circle of colors appear as you desire.

What means is this: Put the niggers and the horse in the breeding pot, mix some asses and some good white blood and what do you get? You got multiplicity of colors of ass backwards, unusual niggers, running, tied to backward ass long-hand mules, the one productive of itself, the other sterile. (The one constant, the other dying. We keep the nigger constant for we may replace the mule for another tool) both mule and nigger tied to each other, neither knowing where the other came from and neither productive for itself, nor without each other.

CONTROLLED LANGUAGE

Cross-breeding completed, for further severance from their original beginning, we must completely annihilate the mother tongue of both the nigger and the new mule and institute a new language that involves the new life's work of both. You know, language is a peculiar institution. It leads to the heart of a people.

The more a foreigner knows about the language of another country, to the extent that he knows the body of the language, to that extent is the country vulnerable to attack or invasion of a foreign culture. For example, you take a slave, if you teach him all about your language, he will know all your secrets, and he is then no more a slave, for you can't fool him any longer and having a fool is one of the basic ingredients of and incidents to the making of the slavery system.

For example if you told a slave that he must perform in getting out 'our crops' and he knows the language well, he would know that 'our crops' didn't mean 'our' crops, and the slavery system would break down, for he would relate on the basis of what 'our crops' really meant. So you have to be careful in setting up the new language for the slave would soon be in your house, talking to you as 'man to man' and that is death to our economic system. In addition, the definition of words or terms are only a minute part of the process. Values are created and transported by communication through the body of the language. A total society has many interconnected value system. All these values in the society have bridges of language to connect them for orderly working in the society. But for these bridges, these many value systems would sharply clash and cause internal strife or civil war, the degree of the conflict being determined by the magnitude of the issues or relative opposing strength in whatever form. For example, if you put a slave in a hog pen and train him to live there and incorporate in him to value it as a way of life completely, the biggest problem you would have out of him is that he would worry you about provisions to keep the hog pen clean, or partially clean, or he might not worry you at all. On the other hand, if you put this same slave in the same hog pen and make a slip and incorporate something in his language whereby he comes to value a house more than he does his hog pen you got a problem. He will soon be in your house.

More From Willie Lynch

Editors note: This speech was delivered by a white slave owner, William Lynch, on the bank of the James River in 1712. The concept in delievering this speech is very much like modern day "business workshops and seminars."

Gentlemen, I greet you here on the bank of the James River in the year of Lord one Thousand seven hundred and twelve. First. I shall thank you, the gentlemen of the Colony of Virginia, for bringing me here. I am here to help you solve some of your problems with slaves. Your invitation reached me on my modest plantation in the West Indies where I have experimented with some of the newest and still the oldest methods for control of slaves. Ancient Rome would envy us if my program is implemented. As our boat sailed south on the James River, named for our illustrious King, whose version of the Bible we cherish, I saw enough to know that your problem is not unique. While Rome used cords of wood as crosses for standing human bodies along its old highways in great numbers you are here using the tree and the rope on occasion.

I caught the whiff of a dead slave hanging from a tree a couple of miles back. You are not only losing valuable stock by hangings, you are having uprisings, slave are running away, your crops are sometimes left in the fields too long for maximum profit, you suffer occasional fires, your animals are killed. Gentlemen, you know what your problem[s] are; I do not need to elaborate, I am not here to enumerate your problems, I am here to introduce you to a method of solving them.

In my bag here, I have a fool proof method for controlling your Black slaves, I guarantee everyone of you that if installed correctly it will control the slaves for at least 300 hundred years. My method is simple. Any member of your family or your overseer can use it.

I have outlined a number of differences among the slaves: and I make these differences and make them bigger. I use fear, and envy for control purposes. These methods have worked on my modest plantation in the West Indies and it will work throughout the South. Take this simple little list of differences, and think about them. On top of my list is "Age" but it is there only because it starts with an "A"; the second is "Color" or shade, there is intelligence, size, sex, size of plantations, status on plantation, attitude of owners, whether the slaves live in the valley, on the hill, East, West, North, South, have fine hair, coarse hair, or is tall or short. Now that you have a list of differences, I shall give you an outline of action - but before that I shall assure you that distrust is stronger than trust, and envy is stronger than adulation, respect or admiration.

The Black slave after receiving this indoctrination shall carry on and will become self re-fueling and self-generating for hundreds of years, maybe thousands. Don't forget you must pitch the old Black male vs. the young Black male, and the young Black male against the old Black male. You must use the dark skin slave vs. the light skin slaves and the light skin slaves vs. the dark skin slaves. You must use the female vs. the male, and the male vs. the female. You must also have your white servants and overseers distrust all Black, but it is necessary that your slaves trust and depend on us, They must love, respect and trust only us.

Gentlemen, these kits are your keys to control. Use them. Have your wives and children use them, never miss an opportunity. If used intensely for one year, the slaves themselves will remain perpetually distrustful. Thank you, gentlemen.

I want to say that the birth of my son Ade' was the most beautiful experience a father could ever have. Me and my wife decided that we wanted to have him naturally and do a water birth, which I encourage a lot of mothers expecting to do because it was so soothing and peaceful. We also wanted to follow our ancestor way of giving birth which included me being the one to catch the baby when he came out and being the first one who touched his crown. In our culture it is very important the father or the priest involved be the one to touch the baby's head when they first come in the world.

When she went into labor, she was making jokes at first then she said, "baby, I think you need to take me to the hospital I can't stop peeing". I said stop drinking so much water then lady before you blow up and be flying around the room. She laughed and looked at me with this look like she was ready to kill me. I grabbed the baby's stuff and through it in the van, told my daughter to get ready, called the hospital and the police that I was going to be bringing her in. I told the police that if they see a mini-van doing over the speed limit with the hazards on it was me and the sheriff laughed and said in all seriousness, "don't speed we will pull you over and your wife will be very pissed at you because you didn't get her to the hospital on time and you had to wait for a bambalam!" Yes, she said bambalam!

What was funny is that we had to listen to some Lil Wayne so she could get relaxed which was kind of odd but you know I was for it because as long as she wasn't screaming and my daughter in the back freakin out I was fine. We got there and they had her room ready and we put her in the tub which was 102 degrees which was very comfortable and I rubbed her down and gave her back massages to ease some of the tention in her back because he was giving her back labor. The nurses were asking if she wanted meds and we both yelled at them and said no. I have to give it to her because she took it like a champ. When he came out, I grabbed him and waited till the umbilical cord stop pulsating and cut the cord. That is something that no man in my family had ever done before. The next thing I did was put him on his mothers chest and took pictures and looked at her and said "Thank you".

I couldn't help but to give him his first bath and take his temp and everything, the nurses didn't mind at all because I was very serious about making sure that I was included in this whole process and didn't want to be interrupted at all. I was amazing that we even worked together getting him to nurse for the first time as well. I have to say that for the first time, I really felt like my job as a father had really kicked in. After she went back to her room, I let her sleep and I fed him when she was too tired to nurse and man let me tell you, looking at the fireworks and looking at him on New Year's day was the best day of my life besides getting married to my wife. I have a new respect for a woman and her womb. If it wasn't for a woman, man could not exist!

Looking at the Yoruba culture in which I follow, we have to have respect for the feminine principle. Most of what I have seen all over the world is that men don't participate in labor practices, it is usually the midwives job to deliver the child and the child stays with the mothers to be trained until they are 7 years of age then they go to their fathers if they are a boy and the girls stay with the women. These days it's so mixed up because most of the men are made to be weak in the African-American home. I hate the fact that I have to say this, but it's no one's fault but our own for the destruction of family in the American-African's home. Thanks a lot Willie Lynch! But I will tell you this, me and my wife will be the first of many that will break that cycle of missing parents in a childs' upbringing. We have a spiritual foundation before the world or this society will dictate what and how we will teach our children to survive in this world. My son comes from a long line of kings and queens in his ancestory and we will do everything in us to protect our childrens' destiny and if anybody tries to come in between this power movement here, will be moved aside and met with spiritual force...and say that with love!

A shout out to all the teachers and student teachers!!!

I just wanted to say that I thank all of you that have put in the hard work to make your jobs more gratifying. We don't always get the praise that we need to keep up the good work in what we are doing. Although, some of us don't really do it for the recognition, we do it because it's our passion and we wouldn't be who we are without those teachers pushing us along the way.

I know that we have to give thanks to a couple of people that are in our classes or our professors, but I first want to give thanks to all the mothers who gave birth to the men that are taking initiative to helping educate our kids in having some integrity about their lives. I want to thank the teachers that put their selves aside to give the time to a child that really needs the attention. Our children are our future and we know it. Sometimes we can't get the help from the state departments or city counsels. What we need to do is move no matter what the obstacle is because without self initiative, there will be no progress. If we didn't have the money to send our kids to school how would they learn to survive? Parent's would have to do what they have to do and be the teachers so it will be up to us to teach the kids to be the teachers just in case there is no more funding for education...Just a word to the wise!

I want to thank Alice Jones at http://myvisionisclear.wordpress.com, her blog is so peaceful and informative. Look her up she has a couple of good links that may help you in your future classes. I also want to give Kaitlin Gitgood a thumbs up as well, her address is http://www.georgiaelementaryteacher.blogspot.com. Hey, I know how the kids in GA can be, so I have to let her know that she is a soldier and continue to move forward and let nothing hold her back!

May all us succeed and conquer our dreams!!!

I will say it again, education is more than just teaching a child to do math or read, it is conditioning them to deal with themselves in a real life situation once they step outside your door!!!!!

What means most to me, is a child learning at their own pace, being able to ask me questions and they are interested in the response they are given and they show what they have learned. I feel that we as teachers have to have patience with the children because believe it or not they are being patient with us in what we are teaching them. These kids these days have a sense of awareness that some of us didn't have when we were young. The reason being, we didn't have to worries that they have today. They have to worry about test scores all the time, and if the teacher is going to listen to them to help them with some of their personal problems. That is what a teacher is for, to ask and learn!

CHILDHOOD EDUCATION CODES OF ETHICS

Code of Ethics

Preamble
The National Education Association believes that the education profession consists of one education workforce serving the needs of all students and that the term ‘educator’ includes education support professionals.
The educator, believing in the worth and dignity of each human being, recognizes the supreme importance of the pursuit of truth, devotion to excellence, and the nurture of the democratic principles. Essential to these goals is the protection of freedom to learn and to teach and the guarantee of equal educational opportunity for all. The educator accepts the responsibility to adhere to the highest ethical standards.
The educator recognizes the magnitude of the responsibility inherent in the teaching process. The desire for the respect and confidence of one's colleagues, of students, of parents, and of the members of the community provides the incentive to attain and maintain the highest possible degree of ethical conduct. The Code of Ethics of the Education Profession indicates the aspiration of all educators and provides standards by which to judge conduct.
The remedies specified by the NEA and/or its affiliates for the violation of any provision of this Code shall be exclusive and no such provision shall be enforceable in any form other than the one specifically designated by the NEA or its affiliates.

PRINCIPLE I

Commitment to the Student
The educator strives to help each student realize his or her potential as a worthy and effective member of society. The educator therefore works to stimulate the spirit of inquiry, the acquisition of knowledge and understanding, and the thoughtful formulation of worthy goals.
In fulfillment of the obligation to the student, the educator--
1. Shall not unreasonably restrain the student from independent action in the pursuit of learning.
2. Shall not unreasonably deny the student's access to varying points of view.
3. Shall not deliberately suppress or distort subject matter relevant to the student's progress.
4. Shall make reasonable effort to protect the student from conditions harmful to learning or to health and safety.
5. Shall not intentionally expose the student to embarrassment or disparagement.
6. Shall not on the basis of race, color, creed, sex, national origin, marital status, political or religious beliefs, family, social or cultural background, or sexual orientation, unfairly--

Exclude any student from participation in any program

Deny benefits to any student

Grant any advantage to any student

7. Shall not use professional relationships with students for private advantage.
8. Shall not disclose information about students obtained in the course of professional service unless disclosure serves a compelling professional purpose or is required by law.

PRINCIPLE II

Commitment to the Profession
The education profession is vested by the public with a trust and responsibility requiring the highest ideals of professional service.
In the belief that the quality of the services of the education profession directly influences the nation and its citizens, the educator shall exert every effort to raise professional standards, to promote a climate that encourages the exercise of professional judgment, to achieve conditions that attract persons worthy of the trust to careers in education, and to assist in preventing the practice of the profession by unqualified persons.
In fulfillment of the obligation to the profession, the educator--
1. Shall not in an application for a professional position deliberately make a false statement or fail to disclose a material fact related to competency and qualifications.
2. Shall not misrepresent his/her professional qualifications.
3. Shall not assist any entry into the profession of a person known to be unqualified in respect to character, education, or other relevant attribute.
4. Shall not knowingly make a false statement concerning the qualifications of a candidate for a professional position.
5. Shall not assist a non-educator in the unauthorized practice of teaching.
6. Shall not disclose information about colleagues obtained in the course of professional service unless disclosure serves a compelling professional purpose or is required by law.
7. Shall not knowingly make false or malicious statements about a colleague.
8. Shall not accept any gratuity, gift, or favor that might impair or appear to influence professional decisions or action.
Adopted by the NEA 1975 Representative Assembly
